Nokia Wins Again.

Thats right after receiving many awards for its new range of Lumia and Asha phones. Nokia has done it again. This time they have taken out a most prestigous award, in a fierce battle against all other phone manufacturers. The annual global award has gone to Nokia for all its hard work in Australia and around the world
This award i'm sure will be found in the halls of Nokia for years to come. I know all the companies were striving for the award, whilst the decision was one that the judges deliberated over for quite sometime, taking into account such things as quality of manufacture, numbers of products sold and the type of products offered.
But there was one section that Nokia out shone all of the manufacturers, which in the end made the decision easy. For its tireless work in Not responding to questions about firmware releases, for not making sure that customers are supported fully, for not giving clear answers especially to general enquires about status of faults and for not taking accountablilty for its errors.
The Award for the Most NON-Communicative Communications Company goes to Nokia....
YAY...we are so proud to be your customers

There is live chat, there is phone numbers, there is email addresses, there is product archive with tons of pdf manuals, there is FAQ pages and there is this discussion board. What more do you want? I don't even see Apple having a live chat feature or its in very un-intuitive place in their web pages because I sure didn't find it.
And the other thing with firmwares. Of course firstly Nokia is not going to publicly announce new firmwares and their release dates in a discussion board. Secondly, Nokia employees answering here are most likely not the most technical hands-on guys in the world because all the technical guys are busy doing their work. They are not being paid any extra browsing these discussion boards at their free time answering same questions for millions of times. I think the main purpose of this discussion board is for common people owning Nokia devices to solve their problems together and not asking the employees when the bug X on platform Y in a country Z will be fixed and expecting an answer from developer right away. But of course, occasionally that might even happen if the bug is severe enough. Just my 2 cents.

firstly if we were talking about apple I would be discussiong this stuff on the apple communities boards, where apple do respond.
Yes we have been on contact us web pages and used the numbers and email address etc. Yes this is a forum for users to discuss issues and solutions to help each other out.
This is also the place that Nokia chooses to use to give out information about the rollouts and also the place that Nokia sets up thread for issues. Yes I understand that nokia are not going to give dates as to rollouts.
Nokia head of departments do regularly view these boards looking for suggestions and clues as to what is going on in the market and on the phones. I do fully understand the process of updates and rollouts, and you would know that if you had read any of my first few hundred posts literally on this board.
My discussion here is about the lack of response and information given to us. I udnerstand that not every carrier will release firmware, However in Australia Belle when it was rolled out to the rest of the world, Australia was told that it would not be given the update at all and that it was a marketing decision. It had nothing to do with carriers. The carriers at the time had not even received a copy for testing as it had not even been written at the time. And it was started only after every Australian on this board complained both to Nokia and their carriers, who then went to discuss further with Nokia.
Since then the only information that we have been told is that the update for Australian is in planning, whenever I asked or anyone else on this forum from australia asked we didnt get any reply at all, till one day we received a comment "we have no further rinformation".  So the only things we knew was that it was in planning and until the end of last week, as far as any of us here were concerned was that it was still planning.
Nokia made a decision some time ago to essentially ban Australia from Belle. You would if you read any of threads here see also that many people are posting issues with Belle, and they are not getting any responses, not even "we are looking in to it".
You would have to admit the best way for a company to be seen to care and to service its customers is through communication. We are not asking for technical responses, we are not asking for time frames. All we ask are basic things, little comments that say "we are looking into it" or "we are currently discussing with carriers to establish their needs". however unfortunately it appears that Nokia's left hand has no idea of the right hand is doing. It wasnt till J-Lo a nokia care staff member posted a comment the other day saying that we are likely to see the australian rollout occur over the coming weeks, that the people in HQ of Nokia found out that the Australian Rollout was about to start.
In fact when i rang Nokia the morning of the release, the technical staff in australia didnt even know that Belle had been release to the rest of the world. I had to guide a very nice young lady through the forum pages to show where thir own HQ had started a thread annoucing the release of Belle. She took ownership at that point and followed up for me whilst i was on the phone. As i said no one seems to know what is happening in their own company , so how can we ever expect to be told anything here.
This thread is all about Nokia not communicating, something that i further discussed with some of the nokia staff personally. And another very nice and patient young lady in HQ, that i have had some recent discussions with has mentioned that she will be looking in to further for all of us., And seeing what they can do better for the compnay and us.
Please understand I didnt write the post above lightly, in the past i have defended Nokia and their actions, you will see from one of the posts above that this thread is not like what many on here consider of me. and if you were to read any of the first few hundred post i have made, you will see that this is not how I have handled things before. However I have always spoken as I see it, based on the best information that i can find. I try not to prejudge anyone or anything.

  • Need to pair phone with Nokia Suite again and agai...

I own an XpressMusic 5310 which is paired over Bluetooth both with my home and work PCs, both running Nokia Suite 3.7.22.
Most of the time, when the phone comes in range of the PC, Nokia Suite reconnects to the phone automatically.
But quite often this doesn't take place, I have to to "Add new phone", and go through the pairing sequence again (which always works).
    How comes?
How do I fix this problem?

I think you have two desktop PCs.
If yes, then I think you are using a common bluetooth dongle for two different PCs.
So it is forcing you to pair again once you change the PC.
    Is that correct?

  • Technology wins again: The saga of a stolen iPhone

So just a few short days ago my wife went to CVS and she ended up leaving her iPhone on the counter. Yea I know but mistakes happen we all have done it with something at some point. She gets her stuff and heads back to the car and we leave. As we walk into the house she notices her phone is missing. We do the usual send a text, call it, and cuss a few times to no avail.
It is this time I remember the dandy little iPhone app I have installed on both of our phones called "Find my iPhone" which is an Apple app and service that is free. So upon opening this app I see her phones location on a map in real time. The app tells me its at CVS so we hurry back there and as shes talking to the people I see the phone leave CVS. By time I get her back in the car and on our way to tracking the gizmo, it had stopped at a house and stayed there for some time. I immediately sent a lock code to the device to lock it and was about to go have a "Come to Jesus" meeting with this dirt bag.
At this point my cooler head showed up and I took down the address and called the police. I explain to the dispatcher the situation and she asked me to stop at a location away from the house and an officer would meet me in a few minutes. 10 minutes later an officer showed up. I explained to him the situation and showed him the cool tech i was using and my wife's phones exact location. About then another officer showed up and he didn't seem all to thrilled about the idea of going and getting my wife's property. During this time the first officer was doing his due diligence to collaborate what I was saying with the people at CVS (it was assumed the person behind my wife at the counter took the phone and he was checking the address they used for their prescription to the address I gave him, and yes they matched).
Its at this point another officer showed up who had some say as to what was going to happen. When I showed him the tracking app and explained the situation he said "I have the same app on my devices and its extremely accurate, We will go down there and recover your phone." He told me to follow both him and the first officer there and to park about 4 houses away and then they will come get my phone to take to the door and show the person that it had been tracked to them.
So as me and my wife watched the police go to the door and show the man who answered that the phone was tracked to his residence he got white as a ghost and confessed to taking it along with 3 stories of why he did and all were different. They arrested him on the spot and returned the phone to my wife. We then discovered that the SIM card had been removed and asked the officer if he could get it for us. The dirt bag tried to pull the SIM to keep it from being tracked and like an idiot he told the cop that when he asked for the SIM back.
So the moral of this story, don't underestimate your local law enforcement to do their job (wife went on a baking spree the next day for the 2 cops) and have this app on your phone!!

My wife's iPhone was also taken from a local CVS pharmacy this week. Unfortunately, the tracking accuracy of the Find my iPhone app is not as precise as it could be, and we could not get a narrow enough, nor accurate enough search radius, and the battery died before we found it. I sent the remote lock code, but the phone has been missing now for about 48 hours and I have just about zero hope of ever finding it at this point. It's probably been sold on craigslist by now, and jailbroken or otherwise hacked to get around the lock code.

  • HOW THE ************** Do I set up nokia messagin...

HOW THE  ************** Do I set up nokia messaging on the 5800? Please if somone can help me I shall burn an effigy in your honour.
First A person in the UK CANNOT set up a Nokia mail account.  You go to email.nokia.com, you select your device and enter your phone number.  Supposedly you receive a text message with a link to somthing or other, IT NEVER ARRIVES.  The site then instructs you to navigate your phone to email.nokia.com.  You go there and download nokia messaging (again) and re-install it (again).
You then proceed to to run the set up email program (the pink @ sign that now appears in applications) and go through the process of typing in an email account details.  At the end it should ask if you want to add it to a nokia messaging account or not.  IT NEVER DOES THIS.  It only ever adds the email to the **bleep** inbuilt polling email thing in messaging.
So, the user cannot make a nokia messaging account online OR on the handset which raises question 1.
    1. HOW THE HELL DO YOU CREATE A MESSAGING ACCOUNT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Being no stranger to nokia messaging and after attempting the above several times I decided to use my E72.  I removed all my email addresses (so my nokia email account was no longer associated with that device) and set it up for my wife (who owns the 5800).  This allowed me to create a nokia messaging account for her (finally).
Now she could log into email.nokia.com and add her email addresses.  Now when I entered her email address into the 5800 it asked if it wanted to add the email to her nokia messaging account (FINALLY) and I was able to put her email onto her 5800 through nokia messaging.  Phew, it only took 3 hours.
Next step, remove her nokia messaging account from my E72 in order that I may have my account back on my e72.  When this was done the wife receives an email telling her that her subscription had been cancelled from her 5800, I assume becasue it detected me using it from my E72 when removing the accounts.
So, I try to re-setup nokia messaging on her device again on, it should be a lot easier as she now has a nokia messaging account right?  When I enter her nokia messaging email address it will automatically associate the nokia messaging account with the 5800 again, right?
    WRONG
now when I try to set up the email the option of adding the account to the nokia messaging service is never shown instead it adds it as the crumby polling email thing built into the device.  This leads me to my 2nd question.
    2. HOW THE HELL DO I MAKE THIS USELESS PIECE OF **bleep** WORK?
I am no noob, I have had nokia devices for the past decade and used symbian all the way since s60v1.  However this has bowled me over with retarded idiocy.
Do I have to make a pentagram of dku-2 cables with a symbain device at each point facing norway smeared with the blood of a virgin blackberry user?
Please someone, tell me what the **bleep** must do to simply get this **bleep** email to work.  I am fuming with rage right now and at the end of my tether.
P.s. No i will not do another hardware reset.

At the very least you would need to contact Nokia to re-instate your wife's account and I hope you are on Orange as otherwise you won't get very far in the UK as here:

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.

    Hi,
How are u ? I recently bought Nokia 6233 music edition phone Warrenty Ref. no. APAINY065420469 it started giving problem when I chose video(3gp or mp4) as ring tone. The people who are calling me,& when I answer them, they can`t hear me but I can hear them! Anything else is normal. Can anybody HELP me???. I already tried reinstalling nokia software v4.91 available on nokia product update site but not of any help, same problem continues.I also went to Nokia Care Centre (Solectron Centum Electronics Limited) in my area Gurgaon Haryana, India, today i.e. 16/02/2007 at about 3:00 pm but the response I got, was not satisfactory one. they told me if it is a software problem you will get back this in max. 2 - 3 hours. They also let me know the site where I can check status that never worked. Then I called up nokia Careline contact number given at the bottom of invoice copy. They told me that they have no information about my set & asked me to contact local Nokia Care again for status which I did, The person who picked up the phone took my details and told me that nobody is there Pl. call after 20 min which I did then also nobody turned up on the phone. The same person who picked up phone earlier told me that he has collected the information that you need to contact us on Monday morning at about 11:00 AM to know whether your set will be rectified here or will go to Delhi.
Pl. tell me, this is the way your nokia care center make customer Roam about. Why, they don't at the very moment tell me that it will take this much of time and they are not even sure about the problem I told them. Can't understand why u people cannot recruit people who has proper knowledge about set. Pl. take this matter seriously as people trust nokia for quality and service but this is the second instance that had happened with me. Also if you can upgrade your Nokia Care Center with proper tools & technicality required to solve the problem & not make a mess of everything. kindly treat this on urgent basis as I will be without my cell which is my single point of contact at this moment & could hamper my job as I am IT professional needs to have cellphone on 24 hours, any emergency.
Also one more thing kindly update your site as there is no support for Nokia 6233 Music Edition

I just got the Nokia Lumia 1520 from Germany and I took it out of the box all good and pretty, but when then I go and charge it since it didn't turn on at first (I have this british charger and a european adapter) and put it in the phone. I left it for a while to charge since the windows start button started flashing and now when I turn it on, it shows the Nokia start screen, then it shows that it's charging and then there comes a blue screen that flashes and it vibrates after that. Again the Nokia start screen shows and the blue screen flashes again, vibrates and Nokia screen again and so it goes endlessly!
I have never gotten it to start it just flashes the blue screen and turns off again

Sounds to me like the charger you are using is not powerful enough. Are you using the charger that came with the phone? You mentioned adaptors etc so thought you may be charging with another charger. You could also try charging with high output usb chargers, typically ones for tablets.

  • I believe Microsoft-Nokia is interfering with my 8...

Guys, there have been some sudden changes in my Nokia 808 Pureview that has only left me thinking that why would Nokia interfere wirelessly, over internet to sabotage my 808 Pureview:
    1. Nokia Internet Radio has stopped updating its Radio lists. I used to get a list named like, "Service has been discontinued" in June 2014. And now, I get error, "Unable to perform operation".
That is ok, if they don't want to sent these lists to us.... I'm ok with that.
But they disabled "Favorites" too, which means our previously stored stations are not working, despite their IP address being the same, and working otherwise.
    2. Nokia Music service, I'm seeing, has totally disabled its History option. So, I can't re download damaged songs, or check out albums I downloaded. Its a paid service and Nokia shouldn't have touched it.
Plus, if we hang up a download, and don't remember which one has hung up, we can't ever go back there and cancel it. In that situation, the entire app will be useless until the download completes...
    3. They're jumbling up the "Nokia Store" searches, with wrong returns, maybe just to deceive us that Nokia Store is very very bad.
Plus, many many times there are failed downloads. You have to try 20 times to get one app.
Plus, the home store has some useless apps, like "All Media Player" which doesn't play anything at all.
I searched "Music Speed Changer" and it did not list me this application, which I personally confirm that it is present in Nokia Store.... with the same exact spelling too.
I searched "Fashion Icon", the famous free game by Gameloft... Again its present in Nokia Store with the same name, and I'm using it too, but the search has been sabotaged.
    4. Nokia Recommends has stopped working. This is just a small app though.
My concern is that Nokia promised to support Symbian devices till 2016. And we're just in 2014 mid.
I'm concerned that Microsoft-Nokia might remove our other web services like E-mail, social networking, etc. much before the expiry period... And I hope that doesn't happen. But logically, I think that's the next step by Microsoft-Nokia.
And I hate Microsoft-Nokia for this.
If you make me hate Symbian, will I start loving Lumias and WPs? I mean, come on, who at Microsoft or Nokia made this dis-reputing decision?
You killed Symbian. Why not be happy with it and let us live in peace?
Why are you interfering with out present/ existing devices like this??
    ==============================
My Story: Used 6670, Used N91, Used N8, Using Pureview 808 now. I requested Nokia to get N91's sound quality and features in the latest phones. No response from Nokia!

Yahoo-stuff have always worked like pile of s..t.
Register a new mail account at www.outlook.com and be happy.
One of the best services Microsoft can offer.
Onedrive is working lika an charn even on Nokia N9 and almost as good on Symbian 3-devices such as the 808 Pureview anyhow.
Buy the application "files plus pro".
If you are using like me more than one handsets/platforms (a Meegoo N9, 808 Symbian 3 and occasionally wp8-handsets such as Lumia 1020) I also can recomend Evernote cause it is working on all 3 platforms.
Furthermore I really can understand your anger against Microsoft.

    Hi varunreddy444,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
You can in fact reinstall an update that you have installed on your device. Just connect your phone to Nokia Suite on your PC and go to software updates and "reinstall".
If the issue persists, please reset your device. First of all back up all contents: Options > Back up on Nokia Suite. Then type *#7370# on your phone's keypad. When prompted, enter lock code 12345 which is by default, or the code you have changed it to. You will then be able to access social apps and Nokia Store again.
Let us know how you get on and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

    I have a "brand new" 701 with 111.020.0307 that won't update to 111.030.0609 because I'm in Italy .
Now I have a really annoying bug: the menu key, sometimes, stops working and won't bring up the menu if pressed briefly, and won't bring up the task list either (when pressed long).
Anyone experiencing this bug? The only way I found to make it work again is turn off and on again my phone... And the task list can't be found in menus, AFAIK. I could do that with my old 5800XM...
I bought my phone ONE WEEK ago... I really wouldn't like to format/reinstall already! Ideas?

soft reset may solve it. Look in settings and phone management.
Dont have to do a hard reset first. After soft reset, try reinstall the latest firmware through nokia suite if soft reset didnt solve your problem..
I have 701 and I am impressed overall with the device. Actually... I am very pleased with it.

  • Delivery failures using Nokia Email

Hello, hopefully someone can assist me with this strange issue...
Just recently 2 out of my 4 accounts on email.nokia.com cannot send any emails, they both still push mail fine, but every time I send a mail I get a rejection notification email.
They've been working fine since I started using Nokia Email about 3 weeks ago, but today, they've started failing.
The 2 accounts are the same ISP, so there is obviously a connection there, but I have a Yahoo! account and a Gmail account which both work great.
I've tried the usual tricks of reinstalling and deleting/creating the accounts again, but no luck.
    I use an E90.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Moray

    Hi,
I had the exact problem before.  And it has gone away recently.  Unfortunately, I am unable to pinpoint what happened.  Below are the possibilities.
I tried to install Nokia Email again after I have upgrade the firmware to version 20 for my N97.  Just like that, it works.
During the installation of Nokia Email, I have accepted the Nokia Messaging account instead of "No Thanks, let me pull my emails".  Of course, this is a paid service.  I have no idea what I will do after the trial expires.
Nokia Email is a bundled service between Nokia and your local telecom operator.  I speculate one of the reasons of not able to get Nokia Email was that the bundled service was not live yet.  Again, speculation.
    Good luck.
