  • Removal of Pre-Loaded Songs on 5310 Xpress Music

    All,
Could anyone help me in removing the pre-loaded music files that come with the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phone (and no doubt countless other handsets too).
I don't particuly like them and I can't seem to exclude them from playing when the music player just going through my tunes (that is when it's actually playing and not giving me the white screen of death).
Apologies if this has been posted else where, I did try and find another thread using the search function to no avail.

I found that I could delete the music that came with phone, if I deleted it in the album folder instead of the actual song, so just scroll through your album titles until you come to one you don't recognise, and you will be able to delete it easily on your phone.

  • Nokia 5300 - Remove pre loaded music ?

Help!!! , Can't get rid of these preloaded tones. I can find the files on the phone and PC, but they are 'read only'. Does anybody know a step by step method of removing these. I have seen some other posts about this, but must be a step missing, as I still cant remove them. Thanks

I've posted about this before here:

some of the text got a bit garbled, because a few parentheses etc got incorrectly recognized as smileys. But I suppose it still makes sense

  • Pre-loading iTunes song previews: how?

I recall a few years ago iTunes had an option (via Preferences>Store tab) that allowed you to pre-load song previews rather than streaming them instantly, which was great for those unfortunate ones still on dial-up, etc. This option hasn't been in successive iterations of iTunes since.
I'm wondering if there is any way to regain this ability via Terminal command, Applescript or something. Can anyone help me out here? I just want a smoother iTunes Music Store experience when I've used up my monthly download quota and have my speed dropped down from ADSL2+ speed to 64kbps. A response would be most greatly appreciated.
    Message was edited by: mc_razza

A forumer on macrumors.com suggested I type in Terminal:
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes load-complete-preview-before-playing 1
I input the command in Terminal, opened iTunes, went into the music store, clicked on a random song and it did prebuffer the stream initially. Unfortunately after the first second it reverted back to its old behaviour ie. playing music for 5 seconds, rebuffering, play for another 5 seconds, rebuffer, etc.

hey, don't loose hope! C7 is Symbian^3 same with N8. I've found a site, where you could download N8's preloaded wallpapers and videos, here's the site : http://www.n8fanclub.com/2010/12/recover-nokia-n8-default-pre-loaded.html . Probably N8's videos and wallpapers are same with your C7, because i also lost all my preloaded pictures and videos of my E7. Hope this helps

  • Does ipod come pre-loaded with songs?

I just got a new ipod today, and see that if I go through the music menu, that there appears to be a bunch of songs there. Were these songs pre-loaded that we get? I did not put any music on my ipod yet, so it isn't anything I put it.
Some of the groups are: Canyon, Chuck Prophet....

"Everytime I synch my ipod, it loads the same 17 songs that are from the itunes homepage. It appears Apple puts in the playlist automatically for free?"
If that were the case it would happen to everyone wouldn't it and I've never heard of this before? It doesn't load anything else? Are these songs in your iTunes?
I just don't see how the iPod can load songs from your iTunes library if they are not stored there.
    Restore it as previously suggested.

  • Recently downloaded new ITunes.  Can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Help????

Recently downloaded new iTunes.  Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order.  Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

@Abi99 WOW! It worked like a charm.
It didn't work when I patched MobiMB by replacing my mobile code RM-949 before 6700 ( see attachment, hexeditor.png, navigation point - 1 ), now I placed my mobile code RM-940 after 6700 ( see attachment, hexeditor.png, navigation point - 2 ). Annnnnnnnnnnnd! BOOOM! This is what I got! (see attachment, mobimb3.png)
Thank you sooooooooooo much @Abi99 . It was my mistake, I didn't follow your tutorial properly. First, I hesitated to install hex editor on my PC, when my AV detected it as adware. But I trust you, I disabled my AV and gone ahead and enabled my AV. It worked just fine.
BTW, is there any list of items, which are safe to delete?

  • Pre-loaded Music?

I just got my iPod nano as a gift and when I took it out of the box, it already had 660 songs on it and 4 games.
Are they supposed to come pre-loaed with media?

The games come on the iPod Nano standard. You can not add new games to it (the ones for sale on iTunes are only for the Video iPod). The music may have been put on there by the person that gave it to you as a gift. You may want to check with them. Apple does not pre-load music on there. It may be possible that someone returned the iPod to a store and failed to delete the music first. Ask the gift giver if they put the music on there for you. If not, then you can restore the iPod to factory settings and it will remove all of it for you.

  • Automatically loading songs

My new iPod has trouble loading songs onto it.
On all my previous iPods, the iPod has "dragged" all the songs off my iTunes library until it's own memory is full. With my new iPod nano, I have to specify each playlist individually and only the total of the playlists is less than the size of the iPod.
This is frustrating, I just want the iPod to "drag" songs from pre-selected playlists until it's own memory fills up.
Currently, I have only 90% usage on the iPod because my playlists don't exactly match it's memory size and even then, I don't exactly want EVERY song on those playlists.
Is there a way to get my iPod nano 2GB 1st Gen to behave like every other iPod in regards to automaticaly filling up it's memory?

If you want to drag and drop songs onto the iPod you need to manage it manually. Connect your iPod and click on the iPod icon in the iTunes source list to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. In the Summary tab check the box "manually manage music and videos" and click Apply: Managing content manually on iPod
Alternatively create a single playlist specifically for updating the iPod. Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 1800MB for a 2G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting:

  • N96 maps pre-loaded, must pay?

Hi, I just bought this very nice and fully functional phone and just to find out that your add pricing for voice guided GPS.
I find that any other GPS devices already have this function build-in and no price to pay for using it...
So if I understand, you receive my position and send me the right 'Next Move' ... So you traking averyone using your services...
If I go outside the phone service range, that paid service don't work anymore...
    I don't want that!
I find this practice very unworthy from a company like Nokia.
This function was one of the reason I bought this phone...
Well I might just sent it back.
    Not happy at all.
    Richard.

When you purchase a dedicated GPS unit, you have already paid to navigate with it. However, you will still have to pay for all future map updates, should wish to update. Map are generally updated every 6 months and updates costs £50 to £100 each time. You will also have to pay the full price for maps for every country if you wish to use it when away on holidays.
Nokia have based their charges on a different system. The software and maps, including all updates are free to download. However, you pay a yearly fee for navigation. They also do short term licences like for a week or a month which is very handy for going away on holidays. Say if you were going to the South Africa for a 1 month holiday you could get a South African license for a month which you cannot do with a dedicated GPS.
Having the latest maps is important as roads are constantly changing and new roads are added.
    Charges for using Nokia Maps.
Firstly there is no charge to use nokia maps to locate you position and to download any maps you want. So all map updates are also free.
You will however have to pay for navigation if you wish to get turn by turn instructions. There are various rates for navigation. You can buy a single country or regions (eg. western Europe) for different durations such as a week, a month, a year etc. There used to be a 3-year license but I am not sure if this is still available.
Typical costs depending on country/region for a 1 week license is around €7.99, 1 month €8.99, 1 year €79.99 and 3 years €89.99. I got the 3 year license for Western Europe and everytime I go away on holidays I might get the 1 week or 1 month license for the region I am visiting.
    Also see
    http://europe.nokia.com/A41005078
There could also be associated network charges if you choose to go online and use AGPS when navigating. Network charges can be avoided by pre-loading your maps to your phone using the Map Loader programme and turning AGPS off.

  • Can I install Snow Leopard on the latest Macbook Pros? (the ones pre-loaded with Lion)

The problem and solution is pretty simple, I just want to know if anyone has tried this before. I have a brand new Macbook Pro that I bought more or less for the sole purpose of having a more powerful machine to run AVID Media Composer on. AVID is only compatible up to OS version 10.6.7 at the moment, and the machine I got was pre-loaded with Lion, 10.7....So I look at the support documentation Apple provides, and notice that in the nifty little chart they have, the latest line of Macbook Pros out there (early 2011) originally had version 10.6.6, so I'm assuming that's the previous version I can't downgrade past.
To revert back to Snow Leopard, however, I need to install it from the DVD which has version 10.6.3 on it, and then upgrade to any version between Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and Lion 10.7. In theory this could work, the only problem being that for a brief time between installing Snow Leopard and updating to the version of it that I need, the computer will have version 10.6.3 on it.
Now I'm pretty sure if the only thing I do on the computer is immediately update to a safe-to-use version, there will be no problems. However, if the machine's hardware is so terribly non-backwards compatible with the Snow Leopard OS, I may do all this backing up and reverting and not even be able to start the computer once I get the old install on it. Before I just go ahead and try this for myself, I was wondering if anyone else has, and more importantly, have you had any success?

    Hi r,
EDIT: disregard my post. Waiting for that disc is a far better option.
    I hope w won't mind if I add a thought here:

Now I don't mind if some drivers are messed up and resolution is all funky when I install 10.6.3 on it, I just need to know if it'll be functional to the point where I can run the 10.6.6 update dmg. Once I update to 10.6.6 everything should work fine.
Or could I install 10.6.3, have the 10.6.6 update burned to a disc, and boot straight from that? This is my first Mac so I'm not sure what little tricks work or not.
Your first idea may work; the only way to know for sure is to try it. If you do, make sure you download and run the Combo update for 10.6.7 or 10.6.8. There can be different versions of a point update, those which are available for download, and those which ship on Macs, so you want to install one beyond that which shipped with some of the new MBPs.
If the MBP won't boot to 10.6.3, something else to try is installing it to an external HD, then installing the 10.6.7 update on it, clone it to the MPB's internal HD, and run the 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Combo update on it.

  • I can't find my previous ??? concerning if it is possible to load songs from a "non-apple" device into iTunes

I can't fnd the question I asked in here roughly an hour ago - concerning if I can load songs from a "non-apple" device. I have a SanDisk that I'd like to load my songs into iTunes - is this possible?

    A.C.,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy: http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=394618&messageID=1263275
