Nokia X6 faults/bugs/general gripes/questions.

Hi all,
i have a few questions, and i cannot seem to find answers by searching, apologies if i have got it a wee bit wrong, and just cant find them.
i have the X6, 16gb version. taking a lot of getting used to, mainly because the touch screen doesnt seem to be.....consistent, if that is the right word. using the standard phone keypad vertically, no problem. using the qwerty keypad, i could swear i am not touching a key, yet it will be typed.
on other occasions, i can press a key, feel the phone vibrate, see the key highlighted above, and the key isnt typed.
when on the home screen, i can tap the bar for my email address, the phone will vibrte and highlight the bar, nothing happens. have to press, press, and press again.
also, when connected to a wifi network, and i receive an email, if that email has a link in it, and i try to go to that link, the phone will try to use the mobile web/wap connection rather than the wifi it is already connected to, no matter what.
email - if i use the "soonest" setting for send/receive, my battery dies in roughly 8 hours, not receiving more than 15 emails a day. maybe 2 sent.
does not always recognise the switch from vertical holding to horizontal either.
are these faults/bugs? i have the latest software version.
adding songs to mass memory. -  windows 7 recognises the device, and allows me to transfer media to the X6 simply by drag and drop to the mass memory. however, if i do this, the media (mp3 in this case) cannot be found anywhere on the phone, except for a selectable ringtone, and cannot be found to be deleted.  transferring media via ovi suite - no issues, just an extra step that i would have thought not necessary if it can be done via win7 drag and drop...is this normal or a bug?
also, is there any way to get an email spam filter for the X6?
sorry for all the questions!

Hi ,
Like you I'm again a new user of nokia x6 which i bought after lot of research. This handset has disapponted me a lot, right from the day 1, i faced a lot of problem(frequent crash, non responsive, bad video display , etc...) with my handset, but as i was a new touchscreen  phone user i prefer to be patient and get use to it.
But after struggling for two weeks i hv decided to go to shop and discuss problems there. With the problem i stated, shop owner convinced and gave me a replacement, and that day i did a biggest mistake of my life by not taking my money back rather(300£).
I wish i could hv taken money back and today not felt so guilty about it.( hard earn money)
Now as i got a brand new handset with replacement , i quickly did a check at shop and went back home. I didnt realize i will get into more trouble. Sadly it was a new handset so initial  response was very fast but when i verify its bluetooth functionality ohh dear no bluetooth detection not even the search option is visible,  that day i really annoyed but what max i could do ...brand new handset and such a pity.
Also i found the top right shortcut  not work by touch which is seems hardware problem, so i realized will hv to again go back to shop and request for a replacement AGAIN. As this is my third visit to the shop , shopowner refused to give a replacement rather ask me to submit handset for repair( brand new for repair funny) with a deposit money for a loan handset to work in between. I did that and got confirmation will get it next 10 days but it arrive after 15 days with lot of chase/enquiry to customer care.
When it arrive back only my bluetooth problem resolved but shortcut problem persists, as i am getting used to it now as it frequently works and sometimes not work.
Finally I started living with it and rather treat it as biggest mistake. On the same day my friend has bought N900 and i found this phone is much better, though more costly than x6  i would rather ask everyone to not go for X6 but go for n900/nokia  or smthng else but not x6 straight NO.
The feature i like about N900 is video chat, this phone is just like computer its display is much like computer and you can open website in their PC format rather Mobile format which is amazing as this will help to perform work like in ur pc/laptop.
I hv bought Nokia X6 for voice/video chat /email/browsing but sadly this happens  with lot of trouble and problems. like browsing u cant see flash content always, some times it comes and sometimes its not visible, just a small F icon so its a pain to reload page just to see the page content, dont know how to go for it as when this problem occurs in pc we go to adobe and download latest flash version but here in handset what we can do as no way to upgrade flash in mobile browser.
One very big problem with this handset which i really like to highlight it to the nokia developers  is that -  when this phone hang it hang for ever - no key will work not even switchoff key , the only option left is to open battery manually from back to switchoff/restart the phone, really annoying.
Browser suddenly close while browsing is again a problem which i'm use to it.
Camera light sensitivity is very poor to sense in room, u always have to change setting to night mode for taking pic, also the flash timing is imperfect while taking photograph though its a five mp
So in all i wish i could hv bought any other nokia handset being a nokia fan as always but not x6. There r tonns of other problems which i dont think to write here as am too tired of writing this much as never wrote a review in my life for anythng but today i thought to save others not getting into trouble.
Hope one day nokia will release one upgrade that will resolve all its problem.
Thank you for reading.

  • General dreamwevaer question

    hello dreamweavers.
im a newbie going to use dreamweaver from next week and beyond,so id like to ask the following:
should i design the website in photoshop and then import it into dreamwevaer,in order to code it?
is dreamwevaer flexible in design point of view,or is it mostly getting finished designs such as headers, footers, flash banners,
and then building up the site where things so and such.
    thank you.

    Hello Nancy.
seems like an informative website,i can see it is easy to understand the

  • Nokia Suite's bugging about Belle

Downgrading my E6-00 from Belle to Anna 25.7 was a struggle and it would be a nightmare if Nokia Suite for any reason started installing Belle again (e.g. if I miss pressing cancel and instead press install by mistake). Is there anyway I can prevent Nokia Suite from bugging me about upgrading to Belle. I've been in Belle land and will NEVER return. Belle is useless.
    Solved!

    I found it was easy.
Just change the URLs to the update servers in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Suite\NOSSU2\usergroups.cfg. You may substitute any server name found with an URL to Google or what ever.
This disables updates (and generates an "connection failed" error when trying to update, but that's something one can live with). The number one goal is to keep Belle from coming anywhere near the phone ;-)

  • RecoveryConfig Attribute and fault policies - general question

We have a number of composites as part of our SOA framework, and a few contain BPELs. We don't currently have fault policies in place, so when the occasional BPEL error occurs, the automatic recovery that occurs (we have ours set at 6:00 pm) has been very useful.
We want to begin implementing fault policies soon, and I'm wondering if there might ever be conflict between the two (fault policies vs. BPEL automatic recovery). For example, would we need to disable the automatic recovery so that errors that have been handled through the fault policy don't also get rerun with the automatic recovery process?
Thanks for any info or suggestions.

    Hi Gerrit,
if you are using navigation attributes in an aggregate master data is stored directly in the aggregate.  This means that the attribute and not the basis infoobject is stored in the dimension table.  With the key date you specify which attribute value is stored in the aggregate, (it could be different for different dates if you have time dependent master data).  For this reason, aggregates with a time-dependent component can only be used in a query if the key date of the query is the same as the key date of the aggregate.
Using attributes or hierarchies in aggregates also means that they have to be adjusted by the changerun if your master data is changed.
    Best regards,
    Ralf

  • Nokia N95 - General iSync questions

    Hi,
Looking for a new smartphone. I used to use my old MDA Compact II and Outlook to track all my college events/tasks.
I've switched over to iCal now, being able to have separate calenders and to dos for different subjects is a real boon. I've been looking at the N95 and heard it supposedly syncs with iCal, but I just wanted to clarify a few things:
-Does it support to do items from iCal?
-Does it support multiple calenders (i.e. will it import and have on the phone the calenders for each of my subjects, or do I have do dump everything into a dedicated calender like in Entourage?
I basically just want a phone that will save me having to get my Macbook out every time I want to check what I have to do, whilst keeping just iCal as a calender solution (I'm fed up of Outlook, Entourage et. al.)
    Thanks

Anyone? Or can someone suggest a more relevant forum?

  • Nokia N8 - Little Bugs

I know everyone has different things going on with their wonderful N8's frm like little bugs as i would like to put it...I recently received my Nokia N8 and i will say that i am happy with what i have accept for the fact that their are a few little things that i come across that irritate me sometimes. Now i know some people might dissagree but i will say this everyone that owns the phone is having some lil problem..
    Firmware Upgrade Suggestions:
1). When double tapping on image in the photoviewer..(After tapping to zoom in the Screen goes blank..
2).Please add a feature to add album art in the N8 like the N95 and 5800.
3). Sometimes during texting or even just browsing the web - the phone goes back to the home menu out of  nowhere (and yess my fingers are nowhere near the exit or home button)
4). Can you make an app for Facebook so that we dont have to log in first through OVI....
5). Video loading during playback....Please fix that
6). When in the music library i click the option GO TO MUSIC STORE (it just takes me back to the home screen)
7). Can add back Video Ringtones... I miss those
8). I dont like the lagg of 2 sec when tryting to go through the menu (and yess i have all applications closed)
    Thats all thanks

I am unable to replicate the blank screen fault when double tapping 12mp images on my '3' UK dark grey N8. Maybe try saving to the memory card instead of internal memory?? Also there is no 2 second delay in the menu on mine or videos stopping, be sure not to close the menu and it comes up instantly! There must be something different about the 3 branded firmware, I can't find many glitches!!

  • Nokia N8 (Slight Bugs)

    Hi There Nokia N8 Lovers,
I know everyone has been experiencing lots of bugs of all sorts with their new N8. I too have had problems but nothing major....PROBLEMS that Nokia should address in the next firmware along with the problems everyone else is going everywhere.
    1). Photoviewer:
When viewing my photos they come out fine but once i pinch them to zoom in - it goes through and right when its about to render the picture clearly the screen goes blank...whats up with that me and 3 other friends have the same problem with that on our N8's.
    2) Music Player album covers:
When going through my music i of course have album covers that are missing because they dont have any.. But where is the option to add album cover?
    3). Music Store:
When in my music Library: theres the option to Go To music Store, when i do tap on that it goes to the phones main home screen all the time.....
    4).Messaging:
While messaging: Sometimes it goes straight to the homescreen as well just like the problem i had with the music store.
5). FIX all the other BUGS everyone else is having....we spent lots of money for this phone: we didnt pay for automatic RESETS or Freezes and things like that....
    Thanks

There are not lots of problems with the N8
There are a few problems, mostly problems with a few specific handsets / batches rather than global problems with the phone
alot of questions about how to use the handset
and alot of queries about features that people would like to see on the phone
    as to your specifics
    1) Don't see it on my handset,
*2) You have never been able to do this form a nokia handset, why I don't know, you have to use the Ovi Music Player PC app to embed the album art to your tracks on a PC before transfering to the phone
    3) cannot replicate takes me straight to the music store for the uk (perhaps an operator specific issue)
    4) Never seen
    5) Have not had any kind of auto reset on the phone, save for when I installed a  specific S60 app from the sis file that caused random reboots, removed the app problem solved
Can I ask if yours is an operator branded handset,
    as to 2 (*)
On my 5800Xm I can choose album/cover art! I open the music player, select albums and choose an album, options-> Album art, selct options again in that menu and click on "change" and the phone lets me select images from the pictures folder.. ( I downloaded covers from coverhunter.com)
I haven't recived my N8 yet so I dont know it that approach is possible, but it was/is at least possible to edit/change cover art on the 5800xm

  • NOKIA 5800 XM :Bugs dependent on SIM card used

    Hi !
It's been a couple of months now since I've been using this phone. Because I'm travelling abroad and using different network operators , I could notice few bugs related strictly on the SIM card used.
Starting with previously firmware releases, if I'm using an Orange SIM card, sometimes when powering on the phone, just before register in the network, on the screen will appear few vertical lines, display will fade into blank and then will reboot. As a hint of what could be, if this SIM card is used in another phone, it will ask "Allow send SMS....".You must answer YES otherwise the question will appear in a short time.
Regarding the latest firmware, 40.0.005, I've noticed when using a prepaid SIM card, that the "Settings" menu will not show anything when accessed. You need to restart  the phone in order to gain access on the folders from "Settings".
Just to mention that my N5800XM phone is network free.
    Thanks for attention,
    Mario

    There's No relation
    i'm also prepaid with network-free 5800
just try to soft reset your phone and see if it works

  • Nokia 6225 and Sprint/other providers questions

I'm thinking of signing up with sprint, getting the Pictures Pack service(for wireless internet) and the Nokia 6225 phone. This is all to test a j2me CLDC 1.0/MIDP1.0 application I'm developing. Does anyone have any experience with this phone? It seems to be earning praise generally. I want a device that is fairly 'average' and would likely be owned by college kids.
Also, if anyone has experience with the Sprint service, it does allow downloads of third party java apps, correct?
Any comments on the phone, sprint's service(the other main provider in my area is cingular), OTA provisioning of ava apps etc. are appreciated.
Finally, what phones/providers DO NOT allow downloads of third party java apps, provided that the phones support java? Is it just those with BREW?

Sprint does allow download of third party java apps! But keep away from Samsung phones. They apparently don't allow third party application to open a HTTP connection.

  • A few general agent questions

We've been asked some general questions by our agents that I have been unable to find answers for, (although 4 and 5 are likely working as designed). We are running IPCC Express 7.0(1)SR05_Build504 and these are all phone agents. We do not run the agent desktop client. Any assistance in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.
    1. TransfertoVM softkey "grayed out" while on a CSQ call. Can it be enabled?
    2. While logged in to CSQ, is there a way to start dialing prior to
    lifting the receiver?
    3. Is it possible to handle more than one CSQ call at a time, e.g. put a call on hold and answer
    another CSQ call.
    4. Upon selecting Agent Login (single-button login), can the agent automatically be put into Ready?
    5. Upon Logout, can the phone be returned to the main screen, rather than getting the manual agent login screen?
Again, any assistance in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Roger

    Hi
    1) Isn't that an IPMA softkey? Never tried it, but whilst it's not in the 'unsupported' list, I wouldn't expect using any IPMA features in conjunction with CAD would get you good results. If it doesn't cause you stuck/ghost calls, I would expect erroneous reports...
    2) Being logged into a CSQ doesn't affect the way the phone works.
    - You can dial the number then either lift the handset or hit dial (for speakerphone)
    - You can press speakerphone or headset then dial
I guess what you are referring to is if you are using the IP Phone Agent in conjunction with a headset? If you are, then the IPPA usually obscures the 'new call' and 'end call' softkeys that you might use if you leave the headset button lit. I guess this isn't the case, as you refer to lifting the receiver? Unless you have motorized lifters.. If that's what you have, you can try getting users to either :
    - Manage their onhook/offhook state using the headset key as if it was the speakerphone key (i.e. press it to hang up or pickup)
    - Use a headset/phone combination that supports HHC
    - Switch to CAD, or CAD-BE if you can't install PC software for some reason.
    3) No. The system is designed specifically so that this should never happen.
    4) No.
    5) Again, no... you can't customize the BIPPA service... If you use CAD or CAD-BE this wouldn't be an issue.

  • Workflow and General Use Questions

    Hello,
I'll apologize right off the bat for these novice question because I'm sure the information is probably somewhere in the forum, I just haven't been able to find it. I just purchased Aperture after completing the demo as my library is getting too large to manage using standard file folders. I'm now trying to figure out the best practices for workflow and general use before I invest some serious time into importing and keywording all my pictures.
    1) Store files in the there current location, or in the Aperture Library? It seems to me that once they are moved to the Aperture library, you can only access them from within Aperture. I'm thinking I would be better off leaving them in their current location. For one, if I want to quickly grab a picture as an attachment to an email or something it seems easier to grab it from the standard folders. Second (and more important) I do not have room to keep all my pictures on my Macbook, thus most of them are stored on the Time Capsule.
So... Keeping photos in their current location appears to be the best choice for me even though it adds an additional step every time I bring in new photos from my camera. Does this sound right?
    2) Is there a way to mark the photos that I have uploaded to my website (Smugmug)? Ideally, I would like to badge photos that have already been uploaded so I can quickly recognize them and ensure I'm not duplicating. I've considered using the rating, or keywords to indicate that a photo has been uploaded but both methods have disadvantages.
    3) Any suggestions for general workflow and organization resources (tutorials, books, websites, etc.)? I've looked at the videos on Apple's site but they obviously didn't get that detailed.
Thanks for the help, sorry for the length.

I recommend to Manage by Reference with Master image files stored on external hard drives (note that Aperture defaults to a Managed-Library configuration rather than a Referenced-Masters Library). Especially important for iMacs and laptops with a single internal drive. The workflow as described below in an earlier post of mine uses a Referenced-Masters Library.
I feel pretty strongly that card-to-Aperture or camera-to-Aperture handling of original images puts originals at unnecessary risk. I suggest this workflow, first using the Finder (not Aperture) to copy images from CF card to computer hard drive:
    • Remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into a memory card reader. Faster readers and faster cards are preferable.
    • Finder-copy images from memory card to a labeled folder on the intended permanent Masters location hard drive.
    • Eject memory card.
    • Burn backup hard drive or DVD copies of the original images (optional strongly recommended recommended backup step).
    • Eject backup hard drive(s) or DVDs.
    • From within Aperture, import images from the hard drive folder into Aperture selecting "Store files in their current location." This is called "referenced images." During import is the best time to also add keywords, but that is another discussion.
    • Review pix for completeness (e.g. a 500-pic shoot has 500 valid images showing in Aperture).
    • Reformat memory card in camera, and archive originals off site on hard drives and/or on DVDs.
Note that the "eject" steps above are important in order to avoid mistakenly working on removable media/backups.
Also note with a Referenced-Masters Library that use of the "Vault" backup routine backs up the Library only, not the Masters. Masters should be separately backed up, IMO a good thing from a workflow and data security standpoint.
Max out RAM in your MB and keep the internal drive less than 70% full.
    Good luck!
    -Allen Wicks

  • An Un-noted Bug, And A Question Or Two

    Hello.
I heard about Adobe Digital Editions for the first time yesterday, downloaded it immediately, and spent the next 20 straight hours (yes, that's 20 as in two-oh) creating PDFs (using Office Word 2007's PDF-creating SAVE function), and trying them out on ADE. ADE is really quite superb in concept, and the user interface is simply beautiful.
I've found one bug not noted by Adobe, and that is that when the FIND function is used with the two-page display option, more times than not, FIND doesn't highlight the searched-for term. With the single-page display, FIND works as it should, and highlights the searched-for term in every instance.
Now for the question or two.
1: What is available for creating PDFs so that if one publishes an eBook optimized for ADE, the PDF file immediately loads into ADE on clicking on the file's link, and if ADE is not on the machine, automatically downloads ADE, and then uploads the file to display (IOW, just as in your ADE digital library)? (I know about your InDesign CS3 export function, but that application is way out of the ballpark price-wise for little guys like me who have no other use for it.)
2: In creating PDFs for use in ADE, how can the metadata for the ID be incorporated, again, without having to resort to apps such as InDesign CS3?
Many TIA for your attention to this.
    ACD

The find on two page layout is a known bug which we will fix in a coming release.
Posting files so they get automatically downloaded is actually rather complicated under the covers. We have two solutions, one is
ADEPT. We are also working on a lightweight solution for non DRM-protected books. We will post info in our blog about this when we have something to show.

  • Bug in adding Question slides?

Firstly, thank to those who replied to my previous rant... restarting solved that problem.
Current rant: I think there's a bug in the Adding Question slides... but maybe it's me.
    Here's the scenario:
I have a Master slide that says "MCQ, T/F, FIB, Sequence" so I think it's the master for the T/F slide.
When I go to Question Slide…, and add 1 T/F slide, it produces a new slide with the correct look from the Master slide.
BUT if I to to Question Slide… and add 2 or more T/F slides, the slides it produces look pretty much like the Master slide (and it says the name of the master slide in the Properties panel), but it's got things wrong with it... the Question X of Y is in the wrong place (the opposite corner, actually), and the "Correct/Incorrect/You must answer" boxes are one below the other... totally different than what's on the Master slide.
I also have issues with the GIFT import... Tryiing to import 10 T/F questions, I swear that the file is UTF-8 perfect, but it's telling me it's the wrong syntax. Why is this so hard?
    Thank you for the assistance.
    Ben

Thanks for the good suggestion Tony. Luckily I only do a limited number of these and they involve maybe five graphics at a time. I reckon the time it would take to import, apply the motion then export from Motion into FCP would be uneconomic.
I have done more tests and it definately only happens in DV timelines when copying scale motion keyframes from one image to another.
One solution is to manually copy the keyframes which is admittedly a little tedious. The other is to lower the motion filtering to fast which, as far as I can tell doesn't affect the quality to a noticeable extent.
I would say it's a bug unless anyone else can tell me where I'm going wrong?

  • Nokia n97 top10 bugs for me

After connecting via USB, in some modes the memory for frontpage gets switched from Mass to C. This causes email settings etc lost.
The above bug can also happen when battery dries out.
Sometimes calendar entries time cannot be set with qwerty keyboard.
    Web browser shuts down randomly.
    Web feeds not working.
    No support for vcards.
Nokia Messaging takes up lots of space on C regardless of settings. Makes the app unusable.
Battery life is < 24 hours for me.
Sometimes keys are locked and you have to remove the battery.
    Random lagging and bad responsiveness.
Let's just hope v12 fixes these. I am very, VERY disappointed in this device. Software quality overall feels very bad in the Nokia devices.

I made a hard reset and deleted all aplications that could use the internet connection and the error isn't there any more.. I suggest when u do the hard reset that you don't make a backup and restore it because the same error will appear again in that case (happened in my case). I saved only the contacts and calendar inputs into .csv files and restored them later. Everything works fine here now. I tried everything else and the popups still appeared again and again. Hope it will work by you.

  • Nokia 5800 alarm bug auto-fix!

    My Nokia 5800 (UK)
    0575581
    v30.0.011
Had the workdays alarm bug. The alarm would sound 3 minutes late.
But after the daylight saving automatic update the bug has disappeared.
    My Date and time settings:
    Time zone: Local Time
    Automatic time update: On
    I hope this helps.

It is in fact pretty random. The change back to GMT didn't cure the problem for me and the alarm still goes off late. The phone also switches late out of a programmed profile and the scheduled backup sometimes doesn't happen at all.
The update to V31 is reputed to fix this issue - if ever we get it for our UK CV handsets.
