Nokia X6 simple question to start with

Hi,
just bought a X6 and struggling like many. I think I know how to use the GPS (will try this weekend) but I am used to the GPS pointing towards the actual position, not the north. A car GPS or a Tomtom point in the direction you're going or pointing the device, but how can I change that on my X6 ?

I have an X6 16GB and always get a satellite lock in under two minutes. Even the first time I used the map function I got a lock in under two minutes. Also when I type in a destination the map points in the direction I am travelling and the compass (lower left at bottom of screen) points north, which is the same as my TomTom. Obviously you guys are doing something wrong. Have you read the online user manual. I always make a habit of reading tne user manual of any product I am thinking of buying before I make a purchase. I think it is called (1) research and (2) Common sense. So I suggest you read the online manual and also the FAQ's. I must admit the maps function is not as intuitive as the TomTom but once you have set a destination and are using it for navigation to get to your destination it works the same as the TomTom. I know this because I have them both in their cradles along side of each other in my car.

I need to understand, what are the files are created, once created an ESB project.
What is the use of the files how to edit them with out using JDeveloper.
Iam trying to create a simple example.
I would like to create a file which has only "HELLO" in that file, simple text file inside a folder "INPUT" in my c:\ drive.
I wanted to create a ESB service which picks up the file and add a string to it like "HELLO" + "ESB" and drop this file into "OUTPUT" folder in c:\ drive.
How do i do that. I tried to do it when i deploy the integration server connection is gettting hit badly. I dont see that connection any more and i dont see that connection in my JDeveloper.
I dont want to start with existing code.

Hi,
If you want to do it from scratch you can basically do the following:
Make sure you have created an application server and integration server connection in JDeveloper.
1) Create a new JDeveloper project of type ESB project.
2) Possibly add a ESB System/Group (open the esb file and click "Create System/Group") to group ESB projects.
3) Create an XML schema describing your input XML file. Probably one element of type xsd:string.
4) Create an example XML file which is well-formed and valid according to the XSD from step 3.
5) Create a new File adapter (inbound/read). A routing service is automatically created.
6) Create a new File adapter (outbound/write).
7) Create a routing rule in the routing service in which you invoke the write method of the outbound file adapter. Possibly add a transformation using the XSL mapper.
8) Deploy the ESB project to the server.
9) Drop your XML file (from step 4) in the directory in which the inbound file adapter is polling.
10) If it is ok, the file should be picked up, transformed and dropped in the outbound directory. A new ESB instance should be visible in the ESB console.
See what files are generated on the filesystem in each of the above steps.

Simple question about starting aweb deployment

i just started work on web deployment, i want to try a simple application. i have forms 6i CD's only got from OTN subscription.
what is the diffrence between forms 6i server to Oracel Applcation server?
do i have to isntall both? or only forms sever is enough, i have only forms server available.
please clarify this to me.

The for Forms builder (for example Oracle9i Forms comes as part of the builder suite 9iDS Release 2 9.0.2.) has the runtime components available so you can create and test your application without the need for an application server.

A simple question about deployment with SDM

I've deployted an EAR onto thte server with SDM. Now want to redeploy it. Should I undeploy the old one first, or can I simply depoy it again?

"update deployed SCAs/SDAs that have the same or lower component versions than the selected SCAs/SDAs" after adding Ear file to deploy in deployment tab under "Deployment Configuration"

Simple question - compare Strings with SSIS expression language

SSIS variables - strOne = YES, strTwo = YES. I want to compare strings using ssis expression language (ie inside a variable's expression box, constraint of task flow arrow etc).
Will @strOne == @strTwo be true ? I hope its not like programming languages where you need to do
@strOne.Equals(@strTwo) instead of ==. Also is @strOne == "YES" true ?

The third variable created should be of type boolean if you're using above expression. if its of type int return 0 and 1 instead of False and true

I had a question regarding Start with Connect by.
The following is an example from the ORacle help from the Emploees table

start with Manager_id is nullNow if we use a lowest level employee using something like
start with Manager_id = '171'no rows are returned. This is because there are no child records for this employee (he is not a manager).
However, is it possible to atleast show this one record as the output? Any suggestions?

Simple Question about a web service

Hi,
I have been playing with Java and the graphics api to build some multitouch desktop apps, but now I have a new project but don't even know where to begin.
What would be the best way to create a very simple webpage with buttons that when clicked would send a message or call a service that would then call a method in my java code running on my server?
Is Soap the way to go? Is there any simple tutorial explaining what I'd like to do? I just don't even know what to search for :/

That's exactly it. A very simple ajax page with buttons, that when clicked, send a message to my server so I can run some java code. Eg, I want to have a "hello world" button on a webpage that I view on my iphone, and when I click it, I want to see a hello world trace out on my server. To be more specific I just got a java app working on my server that will control x10 (automated lighting) via usb and I want to build a webfront to turn lights on/off.
I actually got it working using GWT, but I think the servlets are what I want to do. (I think) GWT doesn't give me full control over the page and only lets me use prebuilt js objects. Plus, I have to keep eclipse and the GWT tool thing open while the server is running.
I just setup my tomcat installation before trying GWT, do you know of any simple tutorial for starting with servlets to accomplish this simple task? I will start browsing now.

Starting out with a Cintiq in Adobe Flash - A series of frustratingly unfindable simple questions!

I'm completely new to the Flash IDE, but I have used my Cintiq 13HD with Photoshop in the past. Despite the tablet working well and drawing correctly, so far Flash feels very weird and almost unusable. I've spent hours looking online for answers to these simple questions, and I've found nothing. Please help answer any if you can!
1. Eraser brush size: I have the wacom pen set to brush, and the eraser set to eraser (fairly standard). I can adjust the pen's brush size in the toolbar, but the eraser is stuck at the smallest size! I have set the eraser tool to the max brush size, and when the pen is set to the eraser tool directly it is larger. How do I set the other side of the wacom pen to a larger brush size? And aren't there any keyboard shortcuts to increase/decrease brush size in Flash? (like [ and ] in Photoshop)
2. Brush zoom: The brush size changes when you zoom. People online say the brush size is constant, but this is just wrong. When you zoom to 200%, the brush should be twice as big as it is in 100% zoom. Is there any way to make Flash have this (normal) behavior?
3. Timeline wrapping: Can you make the "step forward one frame" and "step backward one frame" keys (comma and period) wrap the entire timeline, so stepping forward on the last frame goes to frame 1, and stepping backward on frame 1 goes to the last frame? This is crucial for me to animate loops well, and I can't find anything about it online or in preferences. Shift+comma and shift+period are okay workarounds, but they are not ideal, because I have comma and period mapped to buttons on the Cintiq. I need them to wrap!
4. Numerical Brush Thickness: Is there any way to specify a brush thickness with a number? Do I have to use the pen tool to get stroke thickness properties? At the very least, can I use a keyboard shortcut to specify size, instead of clicking on toolbars?
Honestly, I'm at the end of my rope here. I'm almost ready to drop Flash entirely and do this in Illustrator, then animate in Flash when I have everything drawn properly. Why is everything so different, and why can't I find any of these simple questions online?

The long and short of it is no you can't do most of the things you're looking to do as far as the brush is concerned. Flash has ALWAYS increased the brush size as you zoom in and decreased it when it's zoomed out. Why? No clue but it's always been so. You CAN increase the brush size by number though using the Properties box. The eraser is weird in Flash. so much so that I use the Lasso tool and select what I don't want and delete it. Since you're used to Illustrator you might not realize that selecting areas of a brush stroke will NOT select the entire stroke like in Illustrator. you can select only parts. You can also sort of allow for what you're calling timeline wrapping by installing a Command and mapping it to a custom key command. Just make sure there's a key frame at the end of the cycle.

Finally, Flash is no different than it has ever been and you have to take into consideration that while Illustrator was developed by Adobe, Flash was developed by Macromedia and was then acquired by Adobe years later so you' can't really expect it to work the same. Personally I HATE Illustrator's interface and hate the way it works so I'd hate it if Flash worked like Illustrator!

Load Balancing Directory Servers with Access Manager - Simple questions

Hi.
We are in the process of configuring 2 Access Manager instances (servers) accessing the same logical LDAP repository (comprising physically of two Directory Servers working together with Multi-Master Replication configured and tested) For doing this, we are following guide number 819-6258.
The guide uses BigIP load balancer for load balancing the directory servers. However, we intend to use Directory Proxy Server. Since we faced some (unresolved) issues last time that we used DPS, there are some simple questions that I would be very grateful to have answers to:
1. The guide, in section 3.2.10 (To configure Access Manager 1 with the Directory Server load balancer), talks about making changes at 4 places, and replacing the existing entry (hostname and port) with the load balancer's hostname and port (assuming that the load balancer has already been configured). It says that changes need not be made on Access Manager 2 since the LDAPs are in replication, and hence changes will be replicated at all places. However, the guide also states that changes have to be made in two files, namely AMConfig.properties, and the serverconfig.xml file. But these changes will not be reflected on Access Manager 2, since these files are local on each machine.
Question 1. Do changes have to be made in AMConfig.properties and serverconfig.xml files on the other machine hosting Access Manager 2?
Question 2: What is the purpose of putting these values here? Specifically, what is achieved by specifying the Directory server host and port in AMConfig.properties, as well as in serverconfig.xml?
Question 3. In the HTTP console, there is the option of specifying multiple primary LDAP servers, as well as multiple secondary LDAP servers. What is the purpose of these? Are secondary servers attempted when none of the list in the primary list are accessible? Also, if there are multiple entries in the primary server list, are they accessed in a round robin fashion (hereby providing rudimentary load balancing), or are other servers accessed only when the one mentioned first is not reachable etc.?
2. Since I do not have a load balancer setup yet, I tried the following deviation to the above, which, according to me, should have worked. If viewed in the HTTP console, LDAP / Membership / MSISDN and Policy configuration all pointed to the DS on host 1. When I changed all these to point to the directory server on host 2 (and made AMConfig.properties and serverconfig.xml on host 1 point to DS of host 2 as well), things should have worked fine, but apparently Access manager 1 could not be started. Error from Webserver:

Update to the above, incase anyone is reading:
We setup a similar setup in Windows, and it worked. Here is a detailed account of what was done:
1. Host 1: Start installer, install automatically, chose Directory server, Directory Administration server, Directory Proxy server, Web server, Access Manager.
All installed, and worked fine. (AMConfig.properties, serverconfig.xml, and the info in LDAP service, all pointed to HOST1:389)
2. Host 2: Start installer, install automatically, chose Directory server, Directory Administration server, Directory Proxy server, Web server, Access Manager.
All installed, and worked fine. (AMConfig.properties, serverconfig.xml, and the info in LDAP service, all pointed to HOST2:389)
3. Host 1: Started replication. Set to Master
4. Host 2: Started replication. Set to Master
5. Host 1: Setup replication agreement to Host 2
6. Host 2: Setup replication agreement to Host 1
7. Initiated the remote replica from Host 1 ----> Host 2
Note that since default installation uses abc.....xyz as the encryption key, setting this to same was not an issue.
9. Started webserver for Host 1 and logged into AM as amadmin.
10. Added Host 2 FQDN in DNS Aliases / Realms
11. Added http://HOST2_FQDN:80 in the Platform server (instance) list.
12. Started Host 2 webserver. Logged in AM on Host 2, things worked fine.
At this stage, note the following:
a) Host 1:
AMConfig.properties file has
com.iplanet.am.directory.host=host1_FQDN
and
com.iplanet.am.directory.port=389
serverconfig.xml has:
<Server name="Server1" host="host1_FQDN" port="389" type="SIMPLE" />
b) Host 2:
AMConfig.properties file has
com.iplanet.am.directory.host=host2_FQDN
and
com.iplanet.am.directory.port=389
serverconfig.xml has:
<Server name="Server1" host="host2_FQDN" port="389" type="SIMPLE" />
c) If one logs into AM, and checks LDAP servers for LDAP / Policy Configuration / Membership etc services, they all contain Host2_FQDN:389 (which makes sense, since replica 2 was initialized from 1)
Returning back to the configuations:
13. On Host 1, login into the Admin server console of the Directory server. Navigate to the DPS, and confgure the following:
a) Network Group
b) LDAP servers
c) Load Balancing
d) Change Group
e) Action on-bind
f) Allow all actions (permit modification / deletion etc.).
g) any other configuations required - Am willing to give detailed steps if someone needs them to help me / themselves! :)
So now, we have DPS configured and running on Host1:489, and distributing load to DS1 and DS2 on a 50:50 basis.
14. Now, log into AM on Host 1, and instead of Host1_fqdn:389 (for DS) in the following places, specify Host1_fqdn:489 (for the DPS)--
LDAP Authentication
MSISDN server
Membership Service
Policy configuation.
Verified that this propagated to the Policy Configuration service and the LDAP authentication service that are already registered with the default organization.
15. Log out of AM. Following the documentation, modify directory.host and directory.port in AMConfig.properties to point to Host 1_FQDN and 489 respectively. Make this change in AMConfig.properties of both Host 1 as well as 2.
16. Edit serverconfig.xml on both hosts, and instead of they pointing to their local directory servers, point both to host1_FQDN:489
17. When you start the webserver, it will refuse to start. Will spew errors such as:

The server https-host1_FQDN has started up.
The server infact, didn't start up (nothing even listening on 58080).
However, if AMConfig.properties is left as it originally was, and only serverconfig.xml files were changed as mentioned above, web servers started fine, and things worked all okay. (Alright, except for some glitches when viewed in /amconsole. If /amserver/console is accessed, all is good. Can this mean that all is still not well? I am not sure).
So far so good. Now comes the sad part. When the same is done on Solaris 9, things dont work. You continue to get the above error, OR the following error, and the web server will refuse to start:
Differences in Solaris and Windows are as follows:
1. Windows hosts have 1 IP and hostname. Solaris hosts have 3 IPs and hostnames (for DS, DPS, and webserver).
No other difference from an architectural perspective.
Any help / insight on why the above is not working (and why the hell does the documentation seem so sketchy / insecure / incorrect).

Nokia N70 starts with a white Screen.

Hi all,
My nokia N70 starts with a white Screen and does not go any further. It does not make any sound while starting. When i connect it to the PC it is not detected by the PC while the phone is on showing a white screen. I have tried performing a Hard reset using the *3 and the green key but it is not formatting either. I also tried updating the software but as the PC is not recognising the mobile connection the updater is not working either. I am using the latest PC suite.
Please help...

Remove the battery for at least 5 minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference. Also try removing the memory card.
If the above two don't work then try these.Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
*#7370# - Reformat your phone
If still not working
Then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

If you are using Address Book, open it, create a new Group, select all you contacts by click the top one while holding down the shift key and then select the last one. Drag the contacts to the group, then send an e-mail to the group.
