Nokia X6 - Turning Off GPS

Hi folks,
Is there a way of turning off the GPS so it is not constantly on and it will either prompt me to turn on when using OVI Maps or i can turn it on myself when I need to?

I second what jjegan said, if an application's not actually using the GPS it'll be switched off, and it'll only turn itself on when an application asks for position info. This isn't Android.

my nokia keeps turning off,
i am reasonably sure it is not the battery as this problem occours while charging aswell as without charging. Also occasisonally, it doesn't turn off completely, just goes onto a white screen and can only be stopped my the removal of the battery.
Has anyone else had encountered a similar problem and can help me?

Definitely agree with this. Sometimes a slightly corrupt firmware might compromise the performance of the phone as a whole. But there is also a possibility that it's a hardware problem.

Nokia 5530 Turns off when making a call

I have a real problem, my Nokia 5530 turns off if I try to make a call or receive one, the only way it will work is if the headset is pluggeed in, I have tried everything, Restoring Factory settings, Hard reset etc...
Anyone else have this problem? Help...

I have exactly the same problem. I Went to a Nokia Care Point in Lisbon and they upgraded the firmware to the New one ( 11.0.054 ), but with no success.
I tried old SIM Cards, Newest SIM Cards, With / Without Memory Card, Factory Settings, nothing Worked. I Guess it´s probably hardware, maybe a faulty battery.
I ´ll have to send it to repairment..it´s really upsetting.

Turn off phone without turning off GPS?

I hope you can help with a query.
Is there any way I can turn off the phone on the iPhone 4 without also turning off the GPS? I'd like to be able to run with Runkeeper app on but without the distraction, battery drain and radiation of the phone. I understand that Flight Safe mode turns off the GPS chip so Runkeeper won't work. Is there a way round this?

You can turn off the 3G under settings->network. This will help with battery but still allow you retrieve stuff like texts and calls. Bunder the same thing is the option to cellular data but since the gps is a agps I don't know if it would work and if it did the gps would be nowhere as reliable as with data on.

Nokia 7373 turning off help

I'm having a bit of trouble with my Nokia 7373, it won't seem to switch off. When pressing the switch off button it makes the vibrating sound and has the screen to whether i want the phone turned off or not.
I'm trying to get my battery to go dead but am worried that it may not turn back on again.

Is there a software update available on NSU, which would give you a fresh start?

does anyone know how to turn off hands free - cable is unplugged and when making a call the options list only has load speaker as an option

Turn the phone off and clean the bottom connecter with a little brush. then see if it makes a difference.

Turning off GPS for Podcasts

I love listening to podcasts, but when browsing for new ones, I'd like to use the browsing tool within the app. But when I do this, I get the topping charts from the country I am in, which can for different reasons be problematic.
So my question is how to change this? Can I turn off the GPS for this app? Do I have the chance the country I live in, in my apple-ID, and if so, would this cause me problems?

Nokia Asha - Turning off the SMS delivery messages

I'm using a 301, but guessing the options are pretty standard across the Asha range.
Is there were an option for turning off the message displayed to confirm the delivery of an SMS (the one that pops up and takes up the whole screen for a couple of seconds).

PS - Also the message displayed when it's sending. Personal preference of course, but I'm just happy with the icon in the top of the screen.

I don't know the menu layout of the 301, but my C3 has the option to keep the delivery reports embedded which does not show a note, but the delivery status can be checked by looking into the Message Details.
However, my 311 only has the option to either turn off the delivery reports or else get that full screen note. I don't text much so certainly not a thing to disturb me. If your phone does not have the option to keep the delivery reports embedded (Messages> Settings> General or Text Messages> Delivery), you need to turn of the delivery reports. No other way than that.

My nokia c300 turns off as if i took my battery of...

when i use a data cable that i bought , and that it works perfectly in order to charge data into my mobile and i took it out of the mobile, the device automatically turns off and therefore i need to change some of my settings again. its really annoying.

This is a suspicious sign of power supply failure. I would have that checked into. Others who have had similar problems have had the power supplies replaced which fixed the issue.

NOKIA 6280 - turned off and will not boot.

Hi there.
Whilst copying across a theme from nokia pc suite my phone decided to turn itslef off and now refuses to turn back on. Is this normal or shall I say common in this handset?
I have taken to NSC and they are sending off. Are nokia able to fix this problem and how long will it take before I have my phone back? I have only had it 1 week and o2 are out of stock hence the reason I am unable to get replacement.

join the club!! i am on O2 and my nokia 6280 reset on monday and will not turn back on! it is not common, some problem with software or phone, not sure really!
now the phone is out of stock and no idea when i will be getting a replacement!

Nokia 7373 turning off/memory

Hey All,
not sure if you can help but my phone was great at the start, stored loads of messages etc.
but now its started turning its self off and then when i turn it back on all my text messages in my in box (not sent etc) have been deleted. also now when i try to send messages its saying memory full and this is even when my sent and inbox are both empty??!! when i click on inbox and folder details it says - size - 1866.0MB even though the inbox is empty.
do you think i need to take it into a shop or am i just missing something??

Nokia 5530 - turns off during calling

Hi!
I have a problem with my nokia 5530. If somebody calls me after i pick up a call, phone is turnig off. Same situation when im making a call. Only puting a phone in loudspeaker mode (or with headset) is solving that problem. I've tried a hard reset, updating, etc.
Please help I dont want to be sad on christmas.

You're not alone - it seems there are quite a lot of 5530s with such a problem.

I have the same problem - even went to repair center. They said it was some loose part/connector and it looked that phone was fixed - I was able to make/receive calls with it - for a day. Then the problem reappeared and tomorrow I'll go again to complain. I hoped it was some firmware issue - but it seems I got a malfunctioning unit - so I hope they'll replace it.
Therefore I advise you to send yours to repair.

Turn off GPS indicator in Maps??

I'm trying to look at my current location with Maps but the GPS signal is poor here so Maps is obscuring the image with a pulsing blue circle indicating it's trying to get a fix. Is there any way to disable that so I can just see the image? I know where I am, thank you.

The default values for purchasing are defined at spro -> MM -> Purchasing - >Environment data -> Default values for Buyers.
There you define the default values under 2 digit code. In your case there are three default values 01, 02 and 03.
For an user the default code is to be assigned under user settings own data. System -> user profile -> own data and under parameters tab add a new parameter ID "EVO" and the code(01 or 02 or 03).
This is the place where the default values are linked to the PO and the user ID.

Hello,
I am sick of topping up my sons 2610 PAYG after he has been on the T-zones areas, is it possible to block his access to these facilities?
While I'm here, can I limit his calls/messages to the names I've added as contacts? Or to set the phone to make calls and text only.
Sorry new to nokia, I was hoping the user guide/instructions would cover it, no such luck.

Just had a quick look at the 2610 manual. It is a very basic phone and doesn't seem to have any call barring functions. You could however check with your network to see if there are any network barring functions available to you.
Personally I would take it back and give him one of these phones.
