Nokia X6 voip support

Hi guys, does anyone know if Nokia X6 can support voip or sip? I have searched in forum and Google but to no avail. Its not clear whether it can support voip. I am looking to buy X6. If it doesn't have voip, I might have to go for Nokia E71 which can support voip. Can anyone confirm whether X6 has voip?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I heard with fring there is a long lag as the traffic is diverted through their server before your voip provider. It doesn't directly connect to your voip provider and it might not use the desired voice codec. There is sip voip setting available for download for S60 v 5.x which is what Nokia X6 using.

Does anyone know if this will work? Although Nokia X6 is not listed in voip supported mobiles. Maybe someone with X6 mobile can shed some light on this?! Much appreciated.

Hello! I have configured the built it SIP client and the phone is connected to my SIP provider. If I would like to make a call there is no possibility to select "Internet call" instead of a regular call as I could select on my N85. Has anyone an idea how to fix the problem? Thanks and best regards, Markus

I'm considering this phone, but the proper SIP/VoIP support is essential to me.
What did you have to install and how did you configure the SIP client (comparing to the same procedure in the N/E-series)?
After you have the SIP client configured, have you tried using it in any way? Is the built-in SIP client a part of the Instant Messaging client as it is in the N8xx/Maemo OS?
    thanks!
Did you not read the thread? There is NO SIP CLIENT. You have to use Fring, or maybe Gizmo5 if they ever get their act together and create an updated client.
In short, there is not SIP CLIENT to configure. Nokia left it out. If you need a SIP client, then this is not the phone for you as Fring has not been released for this phone yet. They are working on it but it is not avail yet.
As you can see, Markus accepted my solution but you are still asking about something that does not exist. I am confused here.

  • Nokia C7 VOIP Internet Call

hi. ive set up voip profile in menu-connectivity-admin settings. I'm looking now for the "Internet Call" applicaton to register the profile and to use it for voip calls, but i can't find it nowhere!!
i've read symbian^3 have built-in voip support, but i can't use it. Can you help me? In my old nokia E70 under applications i have "Internet Call" icon to start voip profiles but i can't find it in my c7...

If your voip is set up correctly, you should see both "voice call" and "internet call" as options in your contact directory. There is not separate "internet call" application. Internet calling is integrated to the contact directory.
You can sign in and out of your voip accounts using the menu bar at the top when you are in contact directory (home page/call/contacts).
Make sure you install this first:

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.
    http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9803/nokiapcsyncsd3.jpg
I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.

  • Nokia 6700 on support website....when??

Does anyone know when Nokia will update their website support / OVI areas to include the new Nokia 6700. This handset is now on sale in the UK (I have one) but when you try and download the PC software / OVI maps or get general support on the website it is as if the Phone does not exist. More importantly the software update "can i update screen" does not recognise the phone either.
I even tried contacting Nokia directly using the contact us section but even that did not include the new model? Their reply was usual default useless response......thanks Zoey !! not.
I am hoping that this will be resolved soon as my first Orange 6700 crashed and died on the first day of ownership and I am still waiting for a replacement to be sent.
What happened? - Phone was fully charged and all I did was launch the included game (snakes 3) on starting a new game the screen displayed what seemed to be the main home screen with "?" logos where all the onscreen frames are displayed. The phone then switched off and would not restart again. Leaving the phone without power for 1hr did not resolve this and phone is officially dead. Just hope replacement works a bit better than this

  • Is there an update for Nokia 701 which supports SN...

    Hi,
I am new in Nokia development.
    I have a Nokia 701 (SW version 111.020.0307 - Symbian Belle).
I want to develop a NFC application which sends NDEF messages (through SNEP protocol) to an Android phone (Ice cream).
From what I could see till now, the SW version that I have in my Nokia phone does not support SNEP.
I want to know if there is any SW update for Nokia 701 which supports SNEP.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Just adding more information in order to clarify my questions related to this post.
I am pretty new in Nokia developing. Actually this is the first application I was asked to develop/change.
I work to a company which has a client that has an application that runs in Nokia 701 (SW version  111.020.0307 - Symbian Belle). They want us to change this application in order to be able to send NDEF messages through SNEP protocol.
From what I could see till now, current SW version in the Nokia 701 does not support SNEP.
I also saw that new QTMobility versions support SNEP. I would like to know if I download the Nokia SDK and the new QTFramework/QTMobility:
1- I would be able to change the existing application to send NDEF messages through SNEP.
2- Would the modified application run in the current  Nokia 701 SW release? Or we would have to install any new lib to have it working?
3- Where can I find which QTFramework/QTMobility version are supported in current SW 111.020.0307 - Symbian Belle?
Sorry if my questions are very rudimentary, but, as I said, I am new in the company and pretty new in Nokia development. All those terms  QTFramework/QTMobility are new to me.
    Thanks in advance,

    Dear Mr. X,
    We appreciate your prompt reply.
We will be noting for concern as a feedback. However, please be informed Mr. Tan that Nokia has noted in the box regarding the said case.
The outage experienced by our sub-supplier was quite unexpected. Typically, the lead time for components such as this one is fairly long, and one cannot react to sudden changes at short notice. We value our relationship with our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and know that our sub-supplier is doing everything in their power to remedy the situation and return to regular supply.
The lack of TV out should not affect any other device functionalities besides that you will not be able to show/transmit pictures or video to external monitor/screen.
As Nokia does not have a replacement policy, we suggest to check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding exchanges.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Dear NOKIA CARELINE,
Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they  buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.

    Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
    Greetings!
In response to your inquiry, please be informed Mr. Tan that due to a component shortage, a limited number of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has been manufactured without the TV-out functionality. It is possible that you have one of these devices. In that case, the sales package should have a sticker on the package and a leaflet inside the package that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Therefore we have labeled the affected sales packages with a sticker and included a leflet that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
The new batch of phones should have the feature back. As this matter is clearly stated in the sales package, it is not possible to return to Nokia. However, you may check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding the return of the unit in exchange for a version that has the TV-out feature. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Hello,
you can check here ([1]) which release is available for your device. For the Lumia 630 in India that is the Cyan release.
[2] reads "For all other Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones, the update will start rolling out during Q4 2014, following partner testing and approvals", so I think
it is only a matter of time when the update is deployed to the Lumia 630 in India.

  • E52 - Nokia SIP VoIP application - help needed

    Hi there,
I am pretty new here.  I need the Nokia SIP VoIP application for my E52, something like SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_3.... .sis
    Where can I get it?
My problem is, that I can set up easily an VoIP service with my phone and it connects perfectly.  However, I can't use it with my E52 since I can't activitate it on my phone.  I would need the option:  > connection > Internet Tel. Settings   which is not there.
I guess I need the Nokia SIP VoIP application, however I can't find a compatible version, and the SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis does not work.
    Thanx
    Caristeo

Although I've never used it, I was able to install the SIP Settings program for my E73 (same OS and Feature Pack as your phone) from http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/sw.nokia.com/id/d476061e-90ca-42e9-b3ea-1a852f3808ec/SIP_VoIP_Se... .  (You need to make an account if you don't have one already.)  Download the "SIP VOIP 3.x" version.  I do have a Settings -> Connection -> SIP Settings option on my phone, as well as Control Panel -> Net Settings -> Advanced VOIP Settings.  Hope that helps.

Guess what, all these apps are created for iPhone, a device which does not support flash. So it should be obvious to anyone that supporting flash is not a prerequisite to developing these apps. There are apps in Microsoft store which allow you to view iPlayer, TV catchup and most online TV channels just fine on a Windows Phone 7.5 device.
While the app in question (Plex) would require a home-run server it does prove the point that it would be trivial to support Windows Phone for any of these channels.
Again, it's the BBC and others who simply choose not to support Windows Phone and not any technical reason which would make it impossible.
I know there are apps for ios, which makes sense seeing how it is popular, but leaving it out of wp8 makes no sense with less than 2% of all sales, of course no one is going to make the effort to make an app for it.
I say again, there is no technical reason to leave out the latest version of flash, seeing how it works on my n8. I shouldn't have to download apps to do the most basic of things. I am one of a big number of people who do not want / like to download apps, so why shouldn't we have access to content, that works on older devices.
