NokiaMServer.exe removal

HI there,
I am added this to the end of another thread but it seems that it might not be read there so I am adding a new topic as it might be noticed this time around.
I have uninstalled all the software for the Nokia phone on my PC but for some reason  NokiaMServer.exe is still running as a process and I can't find anyway of uninstalling it. Using google to search for an answer has gotten me no where so hopefully someone here can help

it is running on your startup, run "msconfig" from the run(windows key + r) then go to startup tab, you will the nokiamserver.exe, just uncheck and click apply..
or download regcleaner..when you installed it, just go to startup list and remove nokiamserver.exe on the list..

  • Nokiamserver.exe performance drain

Without even having started Ovi suite nokiamserver.exe and servicelayer.exe and a host of other sneaky connectivity services are responsible for a constant 30% load of my 3.6ghz quadcore cpu. Which, quite frankly, is ridiculous. On top of that these services consume 150 megabyte of RAM. And worst, slow the system way down with the constant disk traffic. Startup time is slowed by up to minute and I don't even run Ovi on startup.
Why do all of these hidden Nokia related services have to be running? I do not want these to start up on booting and I need  them shut down when ovi is closed again.
And as Nokia software seems to be the only way of synching, we are at your mercy. This is seriously hurting the user experience. Not only for the software but the phone too.
I hope Nokia software designers will start to take the users seriously because stuff like this willand won´t be tolerated times where it´s no longer just the phone that has to win over customers!

Yes, thank you, I know - but, why would I want to, or need to?!??
Just got a Nokia phone, as a present from my uncle, Nokia E6-00. Downloaded and installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.180.94 and everything went smoothly.
So I went to "Update phone software", from the file menu and the browser opened for a new download. A little bit ridiculous. Anyway, the problem is, some time later, Comodo Firewall (set to full prompts, ofc.) alerted for an unsolicited connection, ServiceLayer.exe ( C:\Program Files (x86)\PC Connectivity Solution\ServiceLayer.exe ).
This is something that you would expect from some company like Microsoft, or another evil one (yes they are ). However, for me this means that I have more manual work to do on the computer in order to keep things under control. Why go this route.. Reading this thread, it seems that it only gets worse. I don't even have a comment (that will make sense, or can be written in polite terms, hehe). Just: why. Thanks for your time.
    P.S.
If I don't reply.. Probably didn't get an email notification; there seems to be a number of issues with the forums / browser compatibility.
Edit: Oh my goodness, forget it. Nokia Software Updater won't even install on this PC (clean install of Win 7 SP1, just recently). Not even going to worry about that entry not being in autostart - or what's calling it (a Service, or the program). Won't be able to update my phone software, as it's stuck on the install screen 5/6. I expressed my concern about not wanting to own a Nokia in my first post, but this problem is just a complete show-stopper. Amazing. Screenshot attached.

  • Itunessetup.exe removal

Yesterday I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. I am not very computer savy and the first time I attempted to install itunes last night I saved the 32 bit version of itunessetup.exe file on my desktop, when i tried to install it, an error message appeared saying i was downloading the 32 bit version and my system required the 64 bit version.
I couldn't worked out how to remove the itunessetup.exe file from my computer so I deleted it from my desktop and then deleted it from the recycle bin.
Was this the best way to remove the file? it was quite large maybe 89MB i don't want it clogging up my memory.
I have since downloaded the correct version of itunes without a problem, although reading other peoples comments I forsee a few further problems!

Was this the best way to remove the file?
Yep, that was perfectly fine. The iTunesSetup.exe is just an installer file (not a program file). So once you've done an install and don't need it any more, you can delete it just like you'd delete (say) a Word document you didn't want to keep a copy of.

  • ZDFInvScanner.exe removal?

We recently rolled out ZAM and therefore disabled the ZFD inventory.
For some reason the zfdinvscanner.exe process still runs at startup at
each workstation and uses a significant amount of resources (15 - 25
    percent cpu).
Is there any way to stop the scanning process from running?

  • MSIEXEC.EXE removal

On SBO Client installs, we have a few instances in the MSIEXEC.EXE process is running after failure.  A reboot of the system does not remove this process. (ie process will be back even after a reboot even after a manual end from Task Manager If anyone has had experience in the manual removal of this, please post.
    Thanks.

    Hi Carla,
Is there anything in the logs on the workstations that have the problem? Msiexec.exe is core Windows so it sounds like a Microsoft issue and not SBO. What OS are you running?
    Perhaps googling it will help?

  • App Error 523 - Reset on 470_b059_multilanguage.exe - BB Desktop SW 4.7

I'm just upgraded to the 470_b059_multilanguage.exe BlackBerry Desktop SW 4.7 and, after step 9, on step 10 waiting for device comes again (can't remember the name of the step) on my device appears the "App Error 523", even after the battery pulled out. Please HELP me.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

installing desktop software does not reinstall software to your device. you shouldnt have even needed to have your device plugged in to install desktop software. you would have to install desktop maanger, plug your device in, install device software to windows, open desktop manager, use either the update option, or application loader option to install the device software to your BB.
and during this installation it went bad. and previous poster was correct... you need to reinstall
    close DTM
    goto control panel- add/remove progs
check for bbdesktop manager 4.7 and see if there is any other bb program installed... this will be your device software... im hoping its 4.5.x.x
dont uninstall anything here, just for informational purposes, close add/remove progs and control panel
open my computer and go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    open the program loader.exe
remove your battery.. and run the  wizard, till its complete
you will get a multistage error, close wizard
put battery in and wait till it boots to a 507 error
    run loader.exe again

  • WDO.EXE Firefox crash, had to re-install

was on Ebay, and my antivirus programme (AVG-Free) reported a "backdoor trojan" with the name of WDO.EXE, asked if I wanted to allow or quarentine, so I chose Quarentine, but everything locked up. I waited for a while but the message about the trojan was still onscreen, everything had locked. I then Cntrl_alt_del and restarted the machine. Downloaded SAV32cli. followed those instructions, and it found nothing. Neither did Malwarebytes, or Spybot, however Microsoft Update would not work, nor would Firefox (8.01) FF brought up a Crash report, which would not send.
I performed a system restore, and that sorted MS update, but not FF. I uninstalled FF, and have just Reinstalled it (9.xx). There did not appear to be anything about WDO.EXE from google, so I really dont know if this was a Trojan attack or a FF glitch, but I will no longer use this machine for Banking etc, until SOMETHING reports WDO.EXE removed (apart from me within Regedit). Wanted to contact Mozilla, to find out if anyone had heard or dealt with WDO.exe. I found a WDC.EXE, and followed instructions for that, but the lines in the registry to delete were not there, so I am happy that I wrote down the correct thing when it appeared.

    Hi
    Thanks for reply.
I downloaded the extra malware scanners, as I have already scanned with both Malwarebytes, and Spybot Search and destroy. I did not bother with Microsoft Defender, because I am sure that this only works with a Win7 system, and mine is XP-Pro.
Superanitispyware, came up with tracking cookies and quarentined something called PaypalXXX.net, but have no idea what that is, and it didnt report anything as being malicious.
Ad Aware....left running over night, takes AGES, however came up with 1 malicious trojan which was named Trojan_BT...Again no idea what that is, and cannot find where the quarentine area is within the programme to see excactly where it was, although, I am sure that both programmes found the malicious whatever in each others signiture bases.
Nothing has come up with WDO.EXE yet, and as I am in a slow broadband country type area, all these spyware programmes "live protection" slows everything down to a grind.
Will continue NOT to do banking with this machine until something is found.
Incidently Apple quicktime player, did not work correctly when tried last night, with various "unable to find this that or the other" type of messages.
As I have done a System restore to get things working again, I believe that I have left a virus "dormant" somewhere, but until someone knows what and where wdo.exe is and does, it is in a vulnerable position.
    Thanks again

  • NokiaMServer and audio files watchup

I noticed that the NokiaMServer application opens and holds the audio files open. I was concatenating multiple audioclips into one single audio file in my music folder. The process ended after some time to a disk write error. After some retrys and disk checking I started to wonder if the resulting file was opened by some other process, because I couldn't delete or rename it. I found then ProcessExplorer, which pinpointed that NokiaMServer.exe was holding ny result file open. After killing the process the concatenation process went through with no problems. If you have had weird problems with audio files, and I assume that the same might happen also to image files as they are also watched by NokiaMServer, kill the process and retry.

  • Removing Hidden Devices from VMs

I've been tasked with coming up with a script that will remove hidden devices from VMs. Anyone who's used VMs before knows that sometimes "ghost" devices show up. We've had a few problems recently and would like to write a script that will, on
startup, remove any of these hidden devices (yes, I'm fully aware some may be needed, we have logic that will not nuke them all).
Say I have an array that contains devices in WMI type format, let's call that list "$devices"
How would I remove each one using powershell? I've tried devcon, but I feel like I'm not getting the syntax right, my script is doing the following:
    foreach ($device in $devices){
    $toremove = $device.name
    c:\windows\system32\devcon.exe remove $toremove
Is there a better tool than devcon, like maybe a PowerShell cmdlet (even one I have to download from somewhere)? If not, could someone help me get my syntax right (or tell me I need to use invoke- ?)
    Thanks in advance.

  • Syncing issues, Ovi Suite on Windows 7: Some sugge...

Hi. I was complaining on my twitter about Ovi's last release and someone asked me to report about my experiences here. For most of the issues I did a workaround by myself but I think that I'll not be the only one reporting them and experiencing the same problems, so I'd like to show my thoughts as a suggestion for the next releases.
When I started Ovi Suite after the installation to explore the changes, I had a massive system slowdown and I'm running a Core 2 Quad! Then I realized that Ovi was indexing ALL of my PC musics and photos, including subfolders.
Ok, that's what the software was designed for, the problem is that I have over 30GB of images on my Pictures folder and 22GB on Music. I never checked to immediate syncing when my device is connected neither search my local library, but I just clicked on Music tab and my PC went to a extreme slowdown, NokiaMServer.exe on top CPU usage and crashed. It got worse when I connected my Nokia: It forced to sync the entire 22GB Music files on a 8GB SD! Someone missed a condition there to check if the device has enough space!
I'm not discussing how I sync my music files but I download a lot of 320kb bitrate songs which each one has 11~25MB so as my headphones won't play a louder sound than any 96KB AAC, I convert all that I want to hear on my device and just drag and drop with all of metatags including album covers, works for me. From now I'll put all of my converted files on a specific folder, sync with Ovi and keep everything organized BUT why the hell isn't there a screen asking me to select the default folders for syncing on the first run?
...And the same thing happened to my pictures, just a little bit worse. My system was crashing, Windows Explorer crashed, NokiaMServer went to 25% CPU usage on Task Manager because of thumbnail processing! Really, why the hell would I like to put my entire Pictures folder on my cellphone, especially huge files?
To stop Music indexing, I just selected all songs and deleted them from the Ovi's database/collection without messing with my iTunes library (though some metatags and album covers were corrupted) but for the pictures, deleting 35MB from catalog on my own computer lasted longer than using Bluetooth or the old Nokia Phone Browser to send a 100MB file!
Removing the folders from "folder-watch" or changing the library addresses over the Options should clean Ovi's library/collection but it didn't worked, Ovi kept adding pictures and songs. The only way to stop the ridiculous thumbnail processing (from pictures which I also moved to another folder just in case) was deleting "\AppData\Roaming\Nokia\Intellisync", "\AppData\Local\Nokia\Nokia Data Store" and "\AppData\Roaming\Nokia\Ovi Suite" and seting Ovi's to sync to another folder.
I know that there's a lot of people that don't put that amount of files on Windows default documents folders but I can't understand why this software is so slow for simple commands that other softwares can do better! Even the old PC Suite with Nokia Phone Browser was faster when copying or moving a file to another folder and now it's not even modifying or sending files, it is only reading and indexing!
So, I think that it's not much to ask to Nokia/Ovi developers:
    1. Let users choose the default folders for syncing BEFORE start syncing.
    2. Faster indexing and exclusion for Ovi's library. Don't waste time processing a half-screen-sized thumbnail, just show a 128x128 and if the user wants to see the full-sized picture, make Ovi launch system's default picture viewer/editor. After all, your own pictures don't have DRM...
    3. Nokia Music: Can someone explain me how to lock that damn scroll-bar? Because when I'm exploring my songs suddenly the bar goes back to the top! If you want to make a stylish scroll-bar, fine, but please, make it functional as a normal scroll-bar! Otherwise use system's default!
    4. Again about Nokia Music: Something I thought it was nice was letting users choose what application they wanted to use for syncing songs, because some legacy devices don't work with Nokia Music and transferring files from Nokia Music Manager was faster because you didn't had to change you connection type from PC Suite to Media Device. Fortunately for me, iTunes AAC format works fine to reduce disk usage on my devices, but it would nice if Ovi could convert songs for a smaller file size as Music Manager did.
     5. I'm also experiencing some random nokiaaserver.exe crashes without any Nokia application running at the same time.
That's all. I hope someone read it and understand my point of view.

use this version. it has most of the bugs fixed...
keep in mind that if you are using a win 764bit, there are still issues with crashing.

  • Ovi Player library

    Hi,
I'm trying (and trying, and trying) to get Ovi Player to work properly. I might be really fu''''ng dumb, but why does my library contain more and more duplicates and non-working songs?
Ok, i get that it's because i've moved around _alot_ of music files, renamed, retagged, and so on and so forth - but why dosn't Ovi Player get it? Is there a big red "UPDATE LIBRARY NOW AND REMOVE OUTDATED STUFF *BEEP BEEP*"-button somewhere that i'm just... not... seeing?
My last not-so-genious move was to manually try to delete all 15000 songs from the library. Which - of course - made the program freeze, steadily chunking away at 40-60% of my cpu (the other 40-50% is ocupated by that nice little useless NokiaMserver.exe thingie)
NokiaMserver.exe. W-T-F-?! If i'm using a good app like, say, Songbird, my laptop goes to it's knees immediately - especially if i'm retagging stuff, or something similar. Seriously, 30-40% cpu? without me running a Nokia app and having no intention of hooking up my phone for the moment?
And... my laptop isn't allt bad, P8400 cpu, 4 gig ram..
I would appreciate a bit of help. :-)
    Thanks!
(and don't get me started on the battery life of my N86, or how often it freezes with the only solution being removing the battery, or the non-working GPS, or one of a kazillion more little annoyances. Yeh, it did indeed have a shutter for the 8mp-camera, but man... why didn't i get that SE w995 anyway.)
    EDIT:
And the Album Art fetcher/reader... is pretty damn arbitrary.
"Oh, you've got a cover for that album! Hey, do you want me to send that yo the phone along with the album? Hm, i dunno... maybe!   .... mkay?"
"Hey, i can fetch a cover for those albums/songs/whatever... wantmetowantmetowantmeto? Ok! Here's a picture for you! Do you like it? Whaddyamean 'its the wrong picture'? Yeh, yeh, i know, it's the same picture all over the place, for dozens of different albums, and not one right, but you know... It IS a picture after all, take what you can get."

depends how knackered your file system is & how much music you have, as to whether it'll be quick/easy, but one thing that does seem to work is if you make sure that your 'music folder location' in ovi player is correct & then delete the albums etc with duplicates in them from inside ovi player, choosing delete from 'my music collection only'. the album will then disappear from ovi player, but when you close & restart ovi player it will rebuild its lists based on whatever is actually in your music folder location - if there's only one album, it will now only reimport that album with no duplicates etc
wouldn't advise deleting too many at one time though, since ovi will have to reimport a lot of tracks when you restart it - & ovi doesn't seem to be the most stable application at the best of times . . .

  • OVI Suite 3 Major problems on my computer

    Hi,
As stated above, here are the 3 major problems I have encountered:
1 - Cannot activate the Backup in ovi suite. Message shown "Another operation ongoing". Sometime got this problem when using PC suite as well.
2 - Conflict with K-lite codec pack video codecs. Multiple instances of the a video codec will be opened in the system tray area. It sometimes go up to about 50++ instances.
3 - nokiamserver.exe processor do not close when ovi suite is exited. I need to manually close it from the task manager.
    Additional info:
    Using:
    - Win XP pro with service pack 3
    - OVI suite ver. 2.1.1.1
    - K-lite codec pack 5.9 full
    - E66 with 400.21.013
Can anyone please help to solve the problems. Thanks a lot in advance.
Thinking of switching back to PC suite if problems remain unsolved.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    [SOLVED]
    My Solution:
    1) Backup contacts using PC Suite.
    2) Update firmware to v410 using PC Suite. Install my phone E66
    2) Uninstall K lite codec pack n remove all related registry.
    3) Import contacts back to my phone E66. Uninstall PC Suite and all nokia related drivers, registry n folders from computer. Phone driver also uninstall.
    4) Reboot. Install OVI Suite 2.1.1.1. Install E66
    5) Download n install K lite codec Full version 5.6.0. Set ffd show filter to open as many media files as possible. Set ffd show filter to open base on whitelist. Set ovi suite and nokiamserver.exe into ffd show filter blacklist.
This solved my problem 2 above. Hopefully its not a temporary fixed.
    6) In OVI suite select auto sync off for everything. Connect E66 to phone, wait for 10 to 15 mins. Backup function should work. Backup phone.
With this problem 1 above is solved.
Last but not least, use task manager to kill nokiamserver.exe process manually. After ovi suite is exited. Hopefully, nokia will set ovi suite to kill the process when ovi suite exits in the near future.
    7) Now you can add applications, configure your phone with your operator settings.
    Cheers.
