Hi ,
I have Creative Nomad 64 MB DAP-320 Mp3 player, and I have a severe problem with it,
When I put batteries into it, it comes up and goes down in few seconds (-2 seconds).
Then never comes back untill u pull batteries out and fit those again,
now again it comes for few seconds and goes back,
So, It is not working
I have tried 2 pairs of new batteries but same result,
Even removal of memory card does't helps me.
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee help me............

Very long shutdown time after Yosemite install

After installing Yosemite my Macbookpro has shutdown times of over more than 5 minutes. This is what i got from Etrecheck.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Shut down from safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

My Qosmio shutdowns automatically after a while

Hello.
My computer already have been in the support center.
Since it returns I have a huge problem.
When I'm playing games it shutdowns automatically after a while.
After a few times I found why. The temperature of the gpu goes over 90degrees.
*First- I remeber in the past to hear more noise from the gpu fan, even if it is still working...
Is there any way to change or increase the speed of that fan?

This is a common issue with this model, apparently the thermal grease used from the factory had issues that were not disclosed to the support sites, but after 18 months to 2 years my unit was doing exactly this,
i tried speed fan (and other apps) but at best it monitored the temps for convenient viewing,
I finally bit the bullet and bought some arctic white thermal compound ( around $7-12 a jar) dismantled the beast, carefully cleaned and applied the new grease (thin and even) and it hasn't missed a beat in 2 1/2 years.
The x series cooling vents are set one in front of the other and consequentially become easily clogged so make sure to regularly clean them before dust compounds and dismantling to clean is required.

My macbook pro 15 inch freezes up. I forced a shutdown. After reboot, system restarted to factory settings, applications/softwares disappeared, apple dropdown menu disabled, dock and icons missing, keyboard not functioning

Hi. I'm in need of great help as I do not understand how this could have happened.
I had my firefox on, with multiple tabs and windows as I was doing intense research for a paper. My screen then freezes up, but my mouse could still work. Having experienced this before, I immediately pressed and hold the power button till my macbook pro shuts down.
After which, I switched it back on. To my horror, everything was resetted to factory settings: my desktop background was replaced, the fonts on the clock display were different. But this wasn't so bad.
After which, I realised that my dock went missing, together with the icons. I clicked the apple drop down menu, and my screen hanged momentarily, and in that moment everything on the screen disappeared (including the upper dock) for a few seconds and appear again. Meaning, i cant click the drop down.
Similar thing happened with my spotlight. Using the hot keys command-space, the dropdown appeared on the top right, but when i started to type, the screen disappeared and appeared again like before.
Finally i checked my applications folder, and it seems like all the applications are missing, like they have never been installed before! Their folders are there, but the icons and apllications themselves aren't. No applications/software installed- not even the utilities and system preference softwares that came with the macbook.
Luckily though, all my documents are safe. I just cant open them because my iworks and adobe are all missing and "not installed". I cant even access the internet. I'm doing this via my iPhone.
So basically i cant do anything because my apple drop down menu is unreachable, so is my spotlight, and my apps/softwares like system preference, utility are all missing. Is there a way i can troubleshoot this? Or make my macbook work again? I have already restarted and shutdown and switch it back on again near five times.
I know my explanation is long, but do help me if you can. I'm really at a lost right now...

Thanks for the help. I did what you advised, but it still did not work.
The repair disk was successful. Unfortunately when the system restarted to boot my startup disk, I faced the exact same problems as I did previously. I also did a hardware test, but no problems were found.
Even tried powering off and on the macbook pro again but the same problems remained...
I tried to back-up my files too but they refuse to copy/move into my hard disk drive folder.
Nothing works.
Do you have other ideas? Or suggestions?

Weblogic managed server shutdown immediately after going to STARTING state

Our configuration has 3 managed servers M1, M2, M3. M2 and M3 are in a cluster to share JNDI name for JMS servers. Are M3 server often shutdown on starting up just after the server goes to the STARTING state. I have 2 log traces. The first shows when the server shuts down, the 2nd is when the server initializes correctly. No configuration changes, just a timing race condition. Any help is greatly appreciated.....

Thanks. Unfortunately I've already done that and it doesn't work. I've included the -Xrs option in the managed server java command line arguments, see below. However, either it is in the wrong location on the java argument list or something else is going on, because it is not working. See the JVM command line below of the managed server.....

Shutdown hangs after drop column

Hi,
We were trying to drop column on a very big table, after that we cancelled that operation, and given shutdown immediate command.
Now shutdown is taking too much time, going on from last 9 hours.....
We want to start the database, what can be the best possible solution.
Shutdown abort and startup will help ?

Can you check the alter log is there any error or info msg in it?
I am afraid if you give shutdown abort, may cause serious issues.
Before you execute 'shutdown abort', make sure you have good backup, in case of recovery.

Java Apps don't start automaticaly after system restart

Hi,
Since a few days ago when restarting Java application servers of SAP
Portal, the applications deployed don't start for itselfs.
When starting the instance, the memory stops to increase at 500mb. The
only way to start the applications is by the manual way in:
Server -> Services -> Deploy -> Runtime -> Application -> Start
Application.
After starting the applications manually the instance starts fine.
I already increased some values in global configuration:
From:
InitialThreadCount = 40
MaxThreadCount = 150
MinThreadCount = 40
To:
InitialThreadCount = 80
MaxThreadCount = 200
MinThreadCount = 80
After the restart the applications are not starting automaticaly yet.
I have 4 instances. The first two instances are starting fine, but the problem is happening with the other 2 instances.
Is there any reason for this type of behavior?

This kind of problem happens since 3 weeks ago and the stack of this system (SP09) remain unchangeble since 07.04.2008.
The strange behavior is that the Server 1 and 2 are starting all the apps fine, but this problem is only happens in server 3 and 4.

Satellite P750 - Shutdown issue after removal of external monitor USB 3 hub

Have operated my Satellite P750 laptop with external DeII monitor for a year or more now.
Monitor has a Usb 3 hub. (i have some ext HDD plugged into these. So far no issues. I unplugged the monitor usb hub from laptop (to create wndows image backup straight through the sole usb3 port on laptop.
After this finished i found that i was unable to shutdown or restart laptop. It gets to the light blue 'shutting down' screen; HDD light flashes for 5/10 secs then it stops accessing disk with power still on and stuck at blue shutdown screen; laptop even sounds like it shuts down.
Two things, i can hold down power button till hard stop, then press again to restart, and all is fine; no error messages when win 7 start up again. Or i have once just left it sitting without holding power button- it seemed to be like this for about 4 hours (monitor went to standby cause idle) before powers down.. When i start laptop after this i get windows warning failed to shut down properly.
It took me a while to work out which device was causing the issue; but can now replicate any time.
So - unplug monitor usb hub from laptop; laptop fails to shut down/restart.
Replug DeII usb hub back to laptop; no problem laptop back to normal shut down.
Any ideas??? (this means whenever i go portable with laptop i have to hard shut down/ hold power key to turn it off????)

To be honest I dont know why the system cannot shut down properly without connected USB monitor hub but system shut down issues are mostly related to some processes which are running in the background.
Sometimes such processes are locked and could not be closed due to different reasons. This may prevent the system from shut down
Maybe this is the case
Try to clean the system as well as the registry using CCleaner (its freeware tool).
You should also check what processes are running in the background maybe one of this processes is related to the hub which cause your shut down problem

Automatically shutdown auxiliary after DUPLICATE complete

I am refreshing a Test system with Production data using the DUPLICATE command. I've searched via Google but haven't hit the right search phrase to find the answer to my question. Once the RMAN DUPLICATE command finishes, I would like for RMAN to shutdown the auxiliary database (Test) as there are DBMS_SCHEDULER entries and table data that I want to remove/update before those scheduler items start running.
To kick off the DUPLICATE, I will be using the following command
rman target sys@Production nocatalog auxiliary / cmdfile ='rman_dup.rcv' log=rman_duplicate.log where rman_dup.rcv will look like run {
set until time "to_date('2011-05-11 14:00:00','YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')";

duplicate target database to Test

}I would do this as a script but the catch is I do not know the sys pasword for Production. The person who knows that will be typing it in at the appropriate time. (Long story, don't ask)
So is there a way for RMAN to shutdown the Test system and leave it down after the DUPLICATE is done but still also a user to type in the password for Production so that I don't have to sit there and stare and the screen and manually do the process as soon as I see that DUPLICATE is done?

You will be calling this RMAN from a shell.
So, you could put all of these in a shell script :

nb : Although I do agree that DUPLICATE doesn't make sense for duplicating production to test/development when you do not / should not have the production SYS password.
You should be creating TEST "as if" doing a D.R., using the Production backup copied over to the Test server.

Shutdown itunes after syncing

so, anyway to set itunes to shutdown my PC after it's done syncing my ipad/ipod? I.e., it's almost 11:00 at night, past my bedtime and I expect that it'll take another hour to finish syncing and I don't want to let my PC run all night long.

No... there's no harm in leaving the PC on or the device connected.

Can't shutdown iMac after 10.5.3 update

Updated to 10.5.3 yesterday. No problems there, problems started hours later when I tried to shutdown computer. No luck, black/grey spinning timer thing (not beach ball) just keeps spinning away. Only way to turn off computer is to hold power button down. I also can't start computer successfully unless I unplug my FW 800 My Book Studio Edition external hard drive.
Computer will sleep/wake without problem.

I have the exact same issue on my MacBook after upgrading a few days ago. I get that little "loop", and my MacBook just won't shut down until I hold down the power button. It never happened with 10.5.2. It's the only problem I'm having with the upgrade. I'm sure it's only a short term thing, as Apple usually fixes such things rather quickly. Even so, I hope they fix it soon.

Boot, shutdown slow after erasing disk free space

On the advice of a friend I used Disk Utility to erase free space on my MacBook Pro disk. Used the 'zero' option. At the end of the erase procedure it tried to run a routine to create a 'backup file'. There was a "Skip" button and because it was late at night I skipped it. Still took 10 minutes to complete. Since then it takes almost 2 minutes for the thing to boot and to shutdown - was approx 30 seconds for boot and maybe 10 or 15 for shutdown previously. Once it does boot, it takes even longer to find my wireless network. I tried verifying the disk (it's OK) and repairing permissions, both to no avail. I have no apparent battery issues. Anyone have any other suggestions before I start from scratch? TIA.

Yes, I tried DiskUtiliy from the CD, didn't work. Eventually gave up, backed everything up and re-installed OS X. After downloading and installing all the updates it now boots and shuts down as expected. I think I'll stay away from the Erase feature...
