creative no longer supports or sells or manufactures smart media cards for the nomad
I dun remember creative manufacturing this type of card.... hmmm...... you can use any brand of smart media as long it's within the capacity range supported by the player. I remember it's somewhere around 64MB or 32MB and not any thing higher than that.

  • Nomad IIc & Vi

    Hello,
My apologies if there is another thread about this--I did search and was unable to turn up anything.
I am trying to connect my Nomad IIc to my new Windows Vista machine--HP Pavilion laptop. Basically, I can't get the driver or MediaSource software to install or the player to connect to the laptop.
I understand this is an old mp3 player and may not play nice with this new OS, but any help would be appreciated. I love my old Nomad IIc and it's served me well, I'd like to keep using it.
When I tried to install the latest version of the driver, it crashed. Windows said the solution was to find and install CTDrvins.exe. (I have no idea what that is, but a google search said it was something to do with a camera? I don't want to mess around with my system too much if I don't have to.) I tried to install MediaSource anyway, just to check if I could, and it predictably couldn't find the device and therefore would not install. And I've tried it on all 3 USB ports, just in case.
So MediaSource can't properly install because it can't connect, and the driver doesn't work at all, it simply crashes.
Per another thread in this forum, I tried to install Drv_nm2.exe (driver) first (that's what crashes), then CMS_PCAPP_LB_2_03_29.exe (MediaSource) and because of the problems there I never made it to step 3 CMS_N2Plugins__00_0.exe (nomad pack).
And further to the puzzle, Windows seems to think the driver installed despite the installer crashes, because it shows up in the control panel/programs. When I try to uninstall via that, the uninstaller crashes too! Yet, in the background, the uninstaller merrily does its job and removes the driver from the control panel/programs.
I downloaded all the files above off the Creative web site because when I tried to use the original Nomad IIc CDROM it said the disc only supported previous versions of Windows OS.
I can give the specs on the PC if that's helpful. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.

Hi, thank you for your reply & sorry it took long to get back, I didn't get a notification that the thread had a reply.
When you say install in WinXP compatible, do you mean when I actually run the installer, run the installer in compatibility mode? Or something else? Sorry to sound daft.

  • I need to install application and driver for Nomad IIc but computer says I'm not connect

I tried downloading the application, driver, and plug-in for Nomad IIc. When I try to install the driver my computer says my player is <EM>not</EM> connected but my player says it <EM>is</EM> connected. Help!

    Bfd96
Did you download the correct driver and appllication?
Check that you have the following files.
    . Driver - Drv_nm2.exe
    2. MediaSource application - CMS_PCAPP_LB_2_03_29.exe
    3. Nomad Pack - CMS_N2Plugins__00_0.exe
Do not connect the player when installing the driver. You will be prompted to connect the player when the installation is near to completion.
After which, install the MediaSource application follow by the Nomad Pack.

  • Nomad IIc: HOW can I transfer music onto my new playe

    Hi.
I'm totally new here (I also posted this message in another thread which had already been started about my model of player before I had figured out how to post a NEW thread...) <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-sad.gif" width=6 border=0> sorry
I got a Creative "NOMAD IIc" player and its model number is: DAP-6406. So, I think I already found somewhere that "DAP" stands for Digital Audio Player... that means it is categorized as an "MP3 Player" of sorts? (that's not really important though....)
I am not sure if there's a 'card' in it or not... but I'm suspecting that there isn't; I found the photographs of my player under the "Support" section of the creativelabs.com site, and can't seem to see a card.
What I would like to know is:
*CAN THE PLAYER STILL PLAY SONGS/FUNCTION IF THERE IS NO CARD IN IT?*
Because (my dad just gave it to me but doesn't know anything about how it works, it had a previous owner and all that..) it DOES have songs on it already! What am I going to have to do to add new songs from my computer to it's I have the connection cord, but no CD software for it.. my computer searched for a driver/software for the player when I connected it to the computer using the USB port/dri've (?) but found no software to be installed, or something along those lines...
Is there some sort of software that I can find on a website (the Creative Labs website?) somewhere that I can load onto my computer to be able to transfer songs to this player that I've got?
I know I'm a total newbie.... SORRY for this! <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-sad.gif" width=6 border=0> but I would like to be able to use this player to have portable music to bring with me IF AT ALL POSSIBLE (?)
I guess I'm just asking what I'm going to need to do... *don't even really know the next step (if there is one that I can take without having to aqquire a card or CD software or something like that)
THANKS VERY MUCH (anyone who could help!)
    ~Sara (unipsychogirl)

As per the FAQ, go to?Nomadworld.com downloads,?select the relevant player, and all the available software will be listed.

  • Nomad IIc upgr

I am new to the forums and I'm in need of some help. I am trying to upgrade my daughter's
Nomad IIc mp3 player to accept a 28 Smart Media card. I am using Windows XP.
I installed the upgrade drivers and went through the wizard which reported success. When
I use the Sync function in Windows Media Player it shows that there is only a 32mg card.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help you can provide. Yvonne

    Hankey,
The Nomad IIc does not need the firmware update in order to use 28MB Smart Media cards, so it won't be necessary to upgrade the firmware. The cards go in with the contacts facing down.

  • Nomad IIc installing a 128 mb sd c

I am trying to add a 28 mb sd card to my nomad IIc but have no clue how and where to palce it in the unit. ( no explanations in the manual either) If I slide it in it protrudes into the battery area and am not able to close it. Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

you can not use a sd card. it has to be a smart media card. i have a 28mb smart media card and it works just fine.

  • Nomad iic - No specific driver on site anymo

Under Portable Audio, Digital MP3 Players, I don't see the Nomad iic anymore. This may be causing my problem which is I get a blue/aqua scree over the list of songs in my Nomad iic. So If I choose a C dri've or something, I see the list. But when I pick my Nomad memory, I get the light blue/aqua background hiding my list.
I installed the Nomad II 32 mb driver and Microsoft 2000 said it found a better driver and insists on installing an USB Oem driver. Maybe I have the wrong driver, but I do not see one for the iiC, specifically.
Any idea what the hell is going on?

    Testforecho
The driver for Nomad IIc is still available for download at our driver download website.

Choose Portable Audio Players - MuVo (Flash/Microdri've) listing.

  • Nomad IIc - Firmware Download PW Protect

I found a link (from Creative Tech Support) for Bios upgrade of the Nomad IIc. When I click the link, it asks for username and password? The UN and PW for this forum does not allow me access.
I have version .07, and don't see any mention of what the latest version is. I want to add a SmartMedia card for 28 to my IIc, but I want to make sure it will work. Also, I found that the latest version of MediaSource does not see my IIc - I went back a version it does see it. I figure the bios upgrade might help that too. If someone has a working DL link to the upgrade I'd appreciate it.

  • Using Nomad Jukebox3 and Zen Micro on same

I use Nomad Jukebox3 and want to use another, smaller player (Zen Micro) for travelling. Are there any known problems with connecting and managing 2 separate Creative players on one PC?
    Would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks, Steve

    You shouldn't have any problems.

  • Making Nomad IIc appear as a Drive on my Compu

Does anyone know if it is possible to configure the Nomad IIc in windows so it will appear as a dri've on my computer. I am looking for a way to copy songs to my MP3 player using Windows Explorer.
    Thanks
    Mark Thomas

It always needs drivers unfortunately. You might be able to get it to appear as a Device in Windows Explorer at best.

  • Nomad IIc MP3 player - flash memory capac

I have an old Nomad IIc mp3 player. Does anyone know what the capacity for a flash memory card on it is? The manual says you can add upto 28 mb ( this was 5 years ago). I'd like to know if I can use a GB card in it.

  • NOMAD Explorer and Creative MediaSource cr

Is anybody experiencing this frustrating problem?
I recently purchased a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra and installed the included software (drivers, Creative MediaSource and Nomad Explorer) on a Toshiba M200 notebook. My Creative MediaSource version is 2.02.06. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP.
When I plug in my Nomad, Windows detects the device just fine.
When I run MediaSource, everything looks good. I can see PC Music Library, My Computer and NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra in the left Sources pane. When I click on the NOMAD icon in sources, then on Music Library, all the music on my Nomad shows up in the right pane.
By the way, so far I've been using Windows Media Player to transfer my music files to the Nomad, no problem. The reason I started using MediaSource is that I want to create playlists for my Nomad, and I can't seem to find a way to create or transfer playlists themselves using Windows MP.
Here's the problem. Whenever I click (left or right mouse button--it doesn't matter) on one of the music files shown on my Nomad, MediaSource crashes. If I run Nomad Explorer, the same thing happens when I click on a music file located in the right pane (file is located on the Nomad), except here Windows Explorer crashes, of course.
I tried upgrading my Creative software to get the latest version of everything, but the same crash keeps occuring. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc, but nothing seems to work. In total frustration, I installed the Creative Software on a different Toshiba notebook (also running Windows XP Pro SP). On that machine, the old version of the software (from my CD) works just fine! However, I really can't use that system for my music.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this crash? This consistent bug is preventing me from doing anything useful with music files on my Nomad using the Creative Software.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Thanks for the information.
Yes, I did try upgrading ALL of the Creative software on my notebook, including the driver. That did not solve the crash problem. At that point, I tried uninstalling all Creative Software, rolled back my system to the state before I installed any Creative software (using WinXP System Restore), and reinstalled the original Creative software. The problem remains. I guess I could try rolling the system state back again, but then install only the latest version of the software. I don't know. At this point I am flailing and I am thinking there is no way to make this stuff work on my computer.
An alternati've route is this: Is there any other software I can use to create/manage playlists on my Nomad? If Windows Media Player 0 can do it, I would be thrilled. It seems pretty solid, as far as I can tell.

  • Nomad explorer and creative mediasource not detecting zen touch player. PLEASE HE

Hi, I got a new pc and I was going to install my Zen Touch mp3 player on my new pc but I could'nt find the installation cd so I followed the instructions on here and downloaded all the necessary? software, drivers, plug ins, and followed all the instructions. Once everything was downloaded and installed I plugged my mp3 player into my pc and the noise it makes came up and mtp media player pop up appeared. Windows media player accepts that my zen touch is plugged in but creative media source and nomad explorer is not detecting it's?My os is windows xp, I am using windows media player 9 as I was having trouble with windows media player . Could someone please help me? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you've just upgraded to XP, you now have to upgrade your Zen as well as your Mediasource. First you've got to upgrade your Zen Touch firmware to version 2.0.05 or above. Look around on the Creative Support site and you'll find the download without too much trouble. Be warned that the firmware upgrade is permanent, and it will wipe out your Zen hard dri've contents, so say goodbye to all your music unless you want to back it all up to your PC first.
Then you've got to upgrade your Mediasource to v 3.30.2 or higher. Again, you can find the upgrade download on the Creative site. Then you've got to install Zen Touch Media Explorer v .30.04 or higher. Same thing -- easy to locate on the Creative site. Then you should be good to go!?Best,?John

  • Creative Labs Zen NX Nomad Jukebox and Vi

Hey all- Hope I can find some help here.
I recently got a new system, and it is running Vista Premium. I have an older mp3 player that I got from my brother-a 30GB Zen Nomad NX Jukebox. I have installed all of the (very old)software on the CD that came with it. However, my problem is whenever I hook up my MP3 player, it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have gone on the download page and downloaded all of the driver software and installed it, but I still have this message come up.
When I check it on my computer, it says that my player isn't connected. Any help?

Creative Labs, with their large corporation mindset, apparently decided to pursue an ill-advised Marketing Strategy by not releasing a needed Vista driver for the many thousands of Zen NX players out there. This is no doubt due to GREED, because they seem to want to be selling additional thousands of their more recently released MP3 players.
No good for them. I'm confident a huge base of professional software developers will stop recommending Creative products to their corporate base due to this arrogance . . .

  • Nomad MuVo and medisou

Hey, I have a Nomad MuVo 28mb player and I was downloading all of the updates (Dri'ves, fiemware etc...) but a few of the firmware DLs say I need Mediasource for it to work, where can I get this?

    Girlyum,
It is an update in the sense that it will update your version of Mediasource if you have it already installed. It will also install the full version if it isn't installed, so it will work either way.
