Nomad Jukebox 3 and Vi

Does anybody know whether the Nomad Jukebox 3 will work with Windows Vista?
I apologize for wasting time if this has already been discussed, but I have not been able to find it in any of these forums.
Joe

Hello
I now ?regret buying from Creative.
I have two Jukebox3s, less than 3 years old, which cost ~ ?500.
?I have a Zen Xtra, costing ?240 less than a year ago.
All are not supported by Creative for use with VISTA.
I have just bought a new PC, which upgrades to VISTA.
So I have to chose whether to upgrade and write-off over ?700 worth of mp3 players or forgo the VISTA upgrade.
Looking at the above, after being a great fan of Creative, I am now really, really angry with them.
Do iPod customers get treated the same?
Any one else now ?think along same lines?

  • Creative Labs Zen NX Nomad Jukebox and Vi

Hey all- Hope I can find some help here.
I recently got a new system, and it is running Vista Premium. I have an older mp3 player that I got from my brother-a 30GB Zen Nomad NX Jukebox. I have installed all of the (very old)software on the CD that came with it. However, my problem is whenever I hook up my MP3 player, it says that there isn't a driver installed. I have gone on the download page and downloaded all of the driver software and installed it, but I still have this message come up.
When I check it on my computer, it says that my player isn't connected. Any help?

Creative Labs, with their large corporation mindset, apparently decided to pursue an ill-advised Marketing Strategy by not releasing a needed Vista driver for the many thousands of Zen NX players out there. This is no doubt due to GREED, because they seem to want to be selling additional thousands of their more recently released MP3 players.
No good for them. I'm confident a huge base of professional software developers will stop recommending Creative products to their corporate base due to this arrogance . . .

  • WINDOW VISTA AND NOMAD JUKEBOX

    Hello !
I want to know if anybody out there can help me. A friend just gave me a nomad jukebox and from what i researched it is not compatible with windows vista. So my question is, what do i do with it? Or what can i buy to make it useful? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a great day.

Have you tried installing the newest version of Creative Centrale? That is the program that comes with the Creative MP3 players, and I used the application already in Vista and Windows 7 with no problems. Your mp3 player will be recognized by both Vista and Windows 7, but you will have to choose what software to use, and Centrale works pretty well once you get the hang of it.

That software is for the Zen Mozaic MP3 player but it worked great with both of our mp3 players. I do NOT want to violate Creative's license agreement though, if KOK-CHOY or somebody else wishes to correct me.

If that does not work call up Tech support. You may need to get a new hard dri've.
If you are out of warrantee and don?t wont to pay for a hard dri've replacement then this might be helpful: http://www.blurbdesigns.com/ZenUpgrade/
It will show you how to replace the hard dri've and what kind to use.
I hope you get your player working.

  • Nomad Jukebox Iss

    Hey,
So I know I'm talking about some ancient stuff now compared to what's going on, but please help me out.
I have an original NOMAD Jukebox, and I'm running Windows ME. When I plug my jukebox in, it recognizes it as a USB Controller but not as a removable disk and no icon pops up in My Computer, and Creative PlayCenter won't recognize it as being connected. I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them, updating firmware, everything.
Do I need to manually assign a dri've letter to it's Any guidance on this process would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I am trying to access some data on my old Nomad Jukebox.
I'm running XP. I have downloaded the current drivers, updated the firmware and installed Mediasource. All this was downloaded from the Jukebox support page.
I see notes that I then need ot install the Nomad Pack so Media Source will find the Jukebox. So far I cannot find any download links on the creative site for the Nomad Packs. All the links seem to go to the front door of support.creative.com.
Could someone at creative post the proper current link for the Nomad Packs?
I understand this is an EOL unit, but it still works great and I'd love to keep using it.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen NX and WMP

As many other devices and users, I have problem after upgrading to WMP. Whenever I connect my trusty Nomad Jukebox Zen NX (30GB) I get message saying "your device is using an outdated driver that is no longer supported by windows media player". I have latest fw and drivers so that is not an issue. By checking Creative pages it seems as they won't be creating new drivers for this device meaning I'm stuck.
I don't use Creative tools to rip and feed player because I lost CD few years ago and since I reinstalled Windows. I was not able to get software from support then so I decided to stick to WMP. Now, MS doesn't won't to support it as it seems.
Are there any alternati'ves or suggestions?

What I did was to uninstall WMP, rescan library to add new albums that were originally scanned with WMP and that did the trick as I was rolled back to WMP0. I would however wish to have working solution with WMP.

  • Re: Help with Nomad Jukebox 3 and Creative Softw

Okay I need help with the following...(bare with me!)
First, I have a Nomad Jukebox 3. I record shows with it at concerts that allow me to record via the optical input. I currently use Creative Media Source but I don't have the pluggins to "Burn CD". I am wondering how I can go about getting these?
Currently I can not burn these "line recordings" onto CD, and when I right click on the line recording in the Creative Media Source to find the file name there is no Properties icon that I can go to, to see the file name so I can just do a search in my computer to pull these up in my current CD burning software.
Also, "the line recording" is one big file. What program/software do I use to splice up the individual tracks so that it won't be one long "line recording"?
Now when I bring my music from CD or my computer to my Nomad, I've been using Creative Play Center. Do I have to use this all the time or can I use Creative Media Source? I'd rather use one or the other and not have both to deal with... I don't see any icon of my Nomad Jukebox 3 on the Media Source but there is one on the Creative Play Center.
Okay now one more thing just to inform you that from my Creative Play Center I am converting a concert that I downloaded and it's currently in wav format. I am converting it to MP3. Now when I do that in the Play Center window it now shows me the wav and MP3 format for each individual song. That's cool that it doesn't completely erase the wav format, however when I want to download each song in MP3 format I have to go to each individual MP3 which is fine but everytime the Transfer Options Box opens which asks me the Title, Artist and Genre each time.
Is there a way that I can just fill out the information once, so I don't have to do that for each MP3?
Thank you for helping me understand the Creative software and helping me know what I can and can't do!

I found the CD burning module for MediaSource hidden in the download for the Audigy soundcards, at least in the European downloads area. Take a look and if you can't find I'll have another look for it.
To edit the file you need a WAV editor. I'm guessing Creative might bundle something with their soundcards, or you can look on the Internet and take your pick from the cheap to the mega expensi've. Audacity might do it, and it's free http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ so worth checking.
MediaSource is the replacement for PlayCentre, but I think it just comes down to which you prefer (but they are very very similar). Note that you have to download the Nomad pack for MediaSource to get it to work with MediaSource.
When you transfer your converted MP3 to the player it's asking you for tag data, which is vital for the Music Library on the player. You can of course edit this tag information either in MediaSource direct, or probably more optimally in a dedicated tagging program. • Should I install "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSourc

I have the Play For Sure firmware on my Zen Touch, now I'm going to first install the driver on my computer, then install the creative media source, then the play for sure software suite, and then the media source CD plugin. Should I also install the Zen & Nomad Jukebox plugin afterward or that's only for ppl who haven't upgraded the firmware?
    Thanks!

The "Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.20 for Creative MediaSource" is for those who have the non-PlaysForSure firmware. So, you do not need to install it.

  • Problems with Nomad Jukebox Zen and Mediasource - Please he

    Hi,
I own a Nomad Jukebox Zen NX, and I'm having problems with Creative Mediasource seeing the device. Everything has been working fine for a while; I have been able to upload songs from my Zen to my PC and download songs from my PC to my Zen. However, when I tried plugging in my Zen today, the computer did the normal "boop-beep" signaling that the device had been plugged in. However, when I went into Creative Mediasource to download some songs to my Zen, the Zen did not come up under the "Sources" menu, on the upper left, where it usually does.
I exited Mediasource went into "My Computer" on my desktop and, sure enough, the Zen was there under "Audio Devices," and when I double clicked on the icon, it brought showed all of the music files I have on my Zen. This shows that my computer does indeed see the Zen, but Mediasource doesn't?
    Any ideas?
All help is very much appreciated,
    Jason

Your MediaSource plugin of the MP3 player may have been uninstalled. Here is what you should do:
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.

    Hi
Apologies if you have seen this before but I didn't really use the message subject line properly the first time around...
I have had a Nomad Jukebox 2 (0mb) for a few years now but just recently it has begun to turn itself on for no reason (wearing the battery down), or turn itself off after only playing a few tracks, any ideas? Or is it terminal?

  • No driver found - Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - WinXP

I have used my Zen Xtra for over 2 years now, with the same PC I am currently having problems with. I recently had to do a complete reinstall of Windows (note that I have done at least 2 other complete reinstalls during the life of my Zen Xtra, with no problems). Windows Device Managers sees the NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra, but with the yellow question mark and exclamation point. Each attempt at driver installation results in the same problem. The driver ("JB3MV2_PCWDRV_US__30_03.EXE") installs completely, I'm told to reconnect my device so the driver can take effect. When I do, the device is still marked in Device Manager with exclamation point and yellow question mark, and Windows continues to ask if it can find and install the driver. I have told it not to (knowing that I just installed Creative's own driver), with no success, and other times let Windows try to install the driver (hoping it would find the Creative driver that was just installed). No luck. I have even done another complete reinstall of Windows, and tried to install the driver before any other program or hardware installations into my system. No luck. Note that there are no hardware changes between now and when I have done other complete Windows reinstallations. It just no longer accepts the Creative driver. I have also tried to install the driver in safe mode, with the same results. I have also completely removed the Zen Xtra (showing hidden devices in the Device Manager), and tried to reinstall. Firmware version of Zen Xtra was upgraded over a year ago to 2.0.03.
    Specifics:
    Windows XP Pro SP2
    38GB free hard dri've space
    Zen Xtra firmware version: 2.0.03

I have the same problem. But when i try to installl it it says he is missing an .nfo file.
I removed WMP and reinstalled WM0 because is crap.
    I have Windows XP SP2
I have the newst firmware on it.
Can somebody help me with this because it's annoying not to put any new music on your mp3 player.
I never experienced this before even after formatting my HD.
Almost the same problem as fritzm but not completely because het gets an different error.
I have installed the CD but that doesnt work either.
I have installed the software from the website but that didnt help because he doesnt recognize my player.
    Please help!!

  • Unable To Repair/Update Firmware for a Creative Nomad Jukebox

    Hello all,
I've been trying for the past...3 or 4 hours to get my player to work, but it simply refuses to work =P. I sent the problem into Creative, but haven't gotten a response for a couple days now. So, here's a copy-paste of what I sent in that e-mail. If you can think of anything that might help, please don't hesitate to post! I really need your help on this one!
My player's hard dri've recently died, and I received
a replacement from the original store (a CompUSA).
However, my Firmware for the device has failed. I
tried the firmware upgrade for my Zen, but after
a certain number of tries, I gave up. Here is the
list of steps that I followed.
On Zen: Click "Reload OS", let it run, it says
    run the firmware upgrader now.
On Computer: "You cannot install this firmware
update with your player's current drivers using
the SB394 connector. To update your player's
    firmware, this application will temporarily
replace the current drivers and restore them after
    the installation is complete. Continue
installation?", I click Yes. Then it says to
disconnect, and re-connect. I do it.
It shows my version (.2.0), and I'm upgrading/
repairing it to .2.02. When I click "Upgrade", a
warning message pops up and says:
"Your player cannot start up properly. Please
reboot your player and run this application again.
I've done this at least 0 times, and nothing changes. My player is a Nomad Jukebox Zen, the one with a FireWire connection, and like I said,
I've tried this at least 0 times with the same results. Is there a process to completely remove
the firmware on the device, then reinstall it,
or to roll it back or something? Any other ideas
to fix this problem is needed as well.

    Bump.

  • NOMAD Explorer and Creative MediaSource cr

Is anybody experiencing this frustrating problem?
I recently purchased a Creative Nomad Zen Xtra and installed the included software (drivers, Creative MediaSource and Nomad Explorer) on a Toshiba M200 notebook. My Creative MediaSource version is 2.02.06. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP.
When I plug in my Nomad, Windows detects the device just fine.
When I run MediaSource, everything looks good. I can see PC Music Library, My Computer and NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra in the left Sources pane. When I click on the NOMAD icon in sources, then on Music Library, all the music on my Nomad shows up in the right pane.
By the way, so far I've been using Windows Media Player to transfer my music files to the Nomad, no problem. The reason I started using MediaSource is that I want to create playlists for my Nomad, and I can't seem to find a way to create or transfer playlists themselves using Windows MP.
Here's the problem. Whenever I click (left or right mouse button--it doesn't matter) on one of the music files shown on my Nomad, MediaSource crashes. If I run Nomad Explorer, the same thing happens when I click on a music file located in the right pane (file is located on the Nomad), except here Windows Explorer crashes, of course.
I tried upgrading my Creative software to get the latest version of everything, but the same crash keeps occuring. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, etc, but nothing seems to work. In total frustration, I installed the Creative Software on a different Toshiba notebook (also running Windows XP Pro SP). On that machine, the old version of the software (from my CD) works just fine! However, I really can't use that system for my music.
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be causing this crash? This consistent bug is preventing me from doing anything useful with music files on my Nomad using the Creative Software.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Thanks for the information.
Yes, I did try upgrading ALL of the Creative software on my notebook, including the driver. That did not solve the crash problem. At that point, I tried uninstalling all Creative Software, rolled back my system to the state before I installed any Creative software (using WinXP System Restore), and reinstalled the original Creative software. The problem remains. I guess I could try rolling the system state back again, but then install only the latest version of the software. I don't know. At this point I am flailing and I am thinking there is no way to make this stuff work on my computer.
An alternati've route is this: Is there any other software I can use to create/manage playlists on my Nomad? If Windows Media Player 0 can do it, I would be thrilled. It seems pretty solid, as far as I can tell.
