Nomad Jukebox 6GB will not w

My jukebox will not work on my Mac. I originally used it on PC and recently found it in my unpacking but the Mac will not recognize it. I've reformatted using the EAX-middle soft-done key method and nothing. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Darren

Hmmm. The Nomad Jukebox () used to work with iTunes. Since the iPod came along I'm not sure what Apple have done and maybe they removed the functionality. There are some programs that add Mac support for some of the players (see "Can a Creative player work on an Apple Mac?" in the FAQ post) but I'm not sure if these work with the NJB.

  • Nomad Jukebox 6GB - Original OS image file

    Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has this file available. The HD in my unit died the other day and I want to stick in a new one. As far as I can tell, the rest of the unit works perfectly.
I stuck in a working 20GB hard dri've, but am now stuck at "Critical Error - Could Not Load OS". Really wish I imaged this thing before the HD went.
There used to be an image available on Nomadness but that site is long gone.
    Thanks!

.Re: Nomad Jukebox 6GB - Original OS image file{ I already tried both 2.98 and 4.0 downloads. The problem is that unless I'm doing something wrong, these 2 updates do NOT work on a brand new HDD that is plugged into the Jukebox. It just says "Update Failed" when I try. I've used these updates before in the past (when the unit worked) and my understanding is that it only UPGRADES an EXISTING OS. Unless there's a way to physically extract the binary files from the Creative executable and somehow load them into the unit directly.
I'm guessing the only way I can save this unit from the trash heap is if someone out there has a copy of the first 32768 sectors of the HDD available, as that contains the OS.

  • Nomad Jukebox 6gb

I just recently found my Nomad Jukebox that was in storage. I upgraded it to the newest firmware 4.0. In the firmware readme file it says that I can switch to the 2.08 firmware by going to Lib -- Jukebox Settings -- Personalization -- and then select Restart OS Version 2.98
?The problem is that Restart OS Version 2.98 is no where to be found in the menu so how can I switch to the other OS? Could I flash it again with a different firmware? I do not like the look of 4.0 and would prefer it looking similar as to what it was.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen 40Gb Not connec

I gave my sister my old Nomad Jukebox 40Gb and it always says not connected. When I bought it'sI installed it with no problem. I have Windows XP home edition whch was preinstalled on my computer and she upgraded her from Windows 98 to XP Professional.

If you leave the player for several weeks with a discharged battery it can either (a) damage the battery beyond repair or (b) cause the battery voltage to drop so low that it won't be recharged. For the latter situation there's advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net on what to do. But BEWARE that in certain situations Lithium Ion batteries can catch on fire or explode.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra not recognized by FW updater

Hi, after searching for similar problems on this forum i decided to ask directly.
The box were i plug the NJBZXtra has XP SP3 and WMP 0. It has also the latest drivers for the MTP. WMP sees only 20 megs of the 30Gigs the Zen has and the FW updater (the non-p4s) wont realize its there, ready to receive an OS upgrade. I boot it in recovery mode, select Reload OS and start the updater, but nothing happens.
Am i missing something? The battery is full, the power cord is on and MediaSource is properly installed.

I tried to update the Firmware on my Zen Xtra. The update got to the first Zen reboot and then bummed out. The Zen starts in rescue mode and try as I might to follow the steps above and re run the firmware upgrade I cannot get the Zen to be seen.Being stupid I did this twice ( I have 2 Zens) have I now got 2 bricks? are there any other options? My Zen is recognised by the computer as an MTP device of 20mb but the firmware update program says it's not connected.Help

  • Nomad Jukebox 6GB DAP6G01 Silver: Won't power up with batteries or AC cord after years of

My very first MP3 player won't power up with batteries or AC cord after years of use.
I take good care of my electronics, so it was a big surprise when I couldn't power it up.
I've read of other owners of this type of player that there could be moisture built up inside the player, but that couldn't be the case. I keep the player in a cool dry storage place when I don't use it. I use my Zen Micro and Vision a bit more now.
Since the player has no support or warranty anymore, are there any repair facilities that could diagnose the problem the player is experiencing.
Does anyone else have the same problem and if so, what could be done to correct it's
Thanks a lot for any comments.

I have swapped the RAM DIMMS around (as previously mentioned), but no amount of swapping changes the pattern of failure. I tried running with 1GB RAM (one pair of sticks) instead ot 2GB, with no change to the pattern of failure.
I'll probably just connect my drives to our G4, reinstall Tiger on the former G5 startup drive, and keep using what will run on the G4 until it croaks.

    Cincystylee,
Try taking the player into rescue mode and running a cleanup on the player. Here is a link to an article that will give you instructions on how to get to rescue mode for your player:

  • Nomad Jukebox x64 dri

Hello I have been using my Nomad Jukebox 6GB for 7 years, and I still love it, and it is not necessary to buy a new nomad because I have still some space to fill with mp3s. However I can not use it in my new computer in which I installed windows xp 64 bit edition. I have checked creative site and tehere is not any driver for it. ? do not want to install the 32 bit version of it. Is tehere another solution to use it in x64. Or any unofficial driver? Thank you.

The players that are supported on XP 64-bit (or will be) are listed on this page. It does not include the original (6GB) Jukebox player, I'm afraid.

  • Nomad Jukebox Protected Tra

Greetings, I have an old Creative Nomad Jukebox (6gb). There are about 3 gigs of music that are on it right now. What I need to do is transfer all the mp3s to my computer's hard dri've. I know how to do it through MediaSource, but the problem is that about 3/4 of the tracks are protected and it will not transfer the tracks that are protected. I have looked through the Jukebox's settings and I cant find any options to unprotect the tracks. I have also looked everywhere in MediaSource and cant find any options to unprotect the tracks there either. I have already gone to nomadness.net and tried the mass unprotect program...it gets errors and i've tried it on two of my computers already, both running windows xp. I have even downloaded PlayCenter2 and tried that, there arent any options in there as well.
So am I missing somewhere to unprotect the tracks or can it just not be done? If it cant be done i will have lost a lot of music that took a very long time to get. Thanks for your help.

If the battery is more than a few years old may be time for a new one. Lots of sellers on ebay . A few have the OEM batteries for sale. I would only buy the OEM ones.

  • Nomad 1 6Gb audio form

I have a Nomad 6Gb MP3 player. Will this model play WMA files. I have downloaded some WMA files and can't get them on the player. I am using MediaSource. I also tried to convert the files to MP3 in MediaSource but I get the message that it is not supported. If this model will support WMA how do I get them on the player and play them? Thanks
    Firmware 4.0

Right, time for a JB old-timer to jump in here.. methinks
If, by 'downloads', you mean you downloaded WMA's from the online music stores such as Napster or MSN Music or any such sites (they all use the same libraries, the legal stores, so the cause is the same), the answer is simple.
The WMA files are DRM protected, and you cannot simply upload them to your player using MediaSource or other utils outside of Windows Media Player or the Napster (if Napster is the source) software or Napster plugin for WMP.
If you simply upload the files, outside of WMP or one of the software apps mentioned last paragraph, the license does not get 'transferred' - without the 'license transfer' (aka authentication method to grant transfer/play use on the portable player) the files are unplayable on the JB (the common name for what you call the Nomad Jukebox 6Gb, or DAP Jukebox 6Gb as named for non-US markets).
If you download the files legitimately, aka they were not sent to you via P2P or other sources of unauthorised trading of copyright material, then you can clearly play them in WMP (or Musicmatch, if got via MusicMatch Download service).
Open one of those files (as stored on your computer's HDD) and (in WMP) Click on 'File...Properties'..
On the dialog it returns, click the 'License' tab, and see if it allows or denies transfer to portable players.
The odds are, talking legit downloads, if they came from Napster or another source offering a subscription like the standard 'lease' arrangement that costs around 0 UKP a month, you cannot transfer those downloads to the JB as the licenses issued prohibit this.
According to what i know, aka based on Napster and Microsoft listings, the JB is not covered as a Napster To Go compliant deck and so you probably cannot transfer files obtained on a Napster To Go subscription without buying the tracks.
WMA's are that protected, got from illegit sources, they were probably created with personal DRM rights engaged - if so, you are probably equally out of luck (by legit standards) unless you connect the JB to the machine that generated the WMA's.
There are methods of removing DRM protection, but i highly doubt anyone will applaude me for revealing them here - so i wont (not that i would anyway).

  • Nomad Jukebox on 1

ok, i had the idea of using my trusty old Nomad Jukebox 6gb (the original, still going strong) in my car to feed the audio to the amp.
so, i see the external power pack supplies 2v.
    great, cars are 2v right?
    well, not exactly.
apprently there 3.8V and from a check i did about 30 seconds ago, i get 4.2v at the battery when its started up.
    so, what does everyone think?
most 2v devices wil tolerate that sort of power, but the nomad...
obviously i want to just make up a plug and wire it up to the always on 2v circuit in the car, which would make things nice, easy and simple.
but will the extra voltage kill it's
    comments/ideas/suggestions welcome.
    Thanks.

thanks SSR... your a posting machine...
i figured i probably would need it.
i can just go out and get a regulator and incoperate it into my wiring.
but of course, more effort, expense and complexity.
i was kinda hoping someone else had already thought of this and looked into it.
wouldnt want to hurt the nomad after all these years through my own cheap stupidity...
    thanks for the input.

  • Nomad Jukebox Batt

I just purchased an original Nomad Juke box from a secondary market and I can't figure out how to ) charge the battery, 2) remove the cover to access the battery (there is no slide on the top or bottom of unit)
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!

Which player is it, is it the original Nomad Jukebox 6GB (blue or grey)? If so, the battery cover is on the back, and slides off. The player is charged with an AC adapter.
If you're not sure which player it is, can you post up a picture, or what model number is printed on it's

  • Nomad Jukebox 3 and Vi

I apologize for wasting time if this has already been discussed, but I have not been able to find it in any of these forums.

    Hello
I now ?regret buying from Creative.
I have two Jukebox3s, less than 3 years old, which cost ~ ?500.
?I have a Zen Xtra, costing ?240 less than a year ago.
All are not supported by Creative for use with VISTA.
I have just bought a new PC, which upgrades to VISTA.
So I have to chose whether to upgrade and write-off over ?700 worth of mp3 players or forgo the VISTA upgrade.
Looking at the above, after being a great fan of Creative, I am now really, really angry with them.
Do iPod customers get treated the same?
Any one else now ?think along same lines?

  • Nomad Jukebox Crashes Constan

I recently bought a 6GB Nomad Jukebox from the Creative Labs Factory Store on E-bay. I could spend time moaning and complaining what a scam the whole thing was, but it's pretty pointless. Long story short, you get what you pay for, and the whole thing is a scam of the highest degree.
This leaves me stuck with a 6GB Nomad Jukebox that crashes constantly. I know the product is a bit old. (creative still sells them but offers no customer support) I'm not sure if anyone on her has had similar problems, or if I'm just stuck with a fancy looking paper weight. The "knowledge base" is pretty useless, but I thought maybe someone on here may have had similar problems and would know a solution.
    Any advise would be appreciated.
