Nomad jukebox battery problem....help

I was charging my player on the floor and my girlfriend stood on the plug that goes into the player and it broke the socket inside the player. I managed to glue it into place and it has lasted a while but now its virtually impossible to charge my player in the usual way. Is there a battery charger available so i can just pop the battery out and charge it seperately? any help would be greatly recieved. Im lost without me 30gb of choonz on me.

Ah, well spotted. I saw Nomad Jukebox in the subject and assumed the original NOMAD Jukebox.
It is possible to have 30Gb though, as the dri've can be upgraded.
But the breakaway power socket is also more common with the Xtra.
So to the original poster, if this is an Xtra you cannot buy a battery charger. You will need to fix your player.

What do I need to do to extend battery life for my Nomad Jukebox. Currently I only get 0 minutes battery life after recharging. Even with new top-quality rechargable batteries. It's as if the batteries aren't taking a charge. I checked for updates for my device and I am told everything is up-to-date. Thanks.

If your batteries are new, then the Nomad probably isn't charging them properly. If they aren't new, then they may be getting a memory (basically going bad) and should be totally discharged and recharged for overnight. If that doesn't work, then replace them.
Try PowerEx 2300mAh Batteries and get the C204F charger. The C204 has the ability to completely discharge the batteries before recharging and will recharge them to their full potential.

• Nomad Jukebox C Drivers - HELP WANT

Does anyone out there know where I can download the drivers for Jukebox C? I have scoured the site but am finding nothing that seems to work with my Jukebox C and Win XP. I can not get my PC to recognize the Jukebox C. Any suggestions would be appreciated or if you have an old C and would like to sell the software for it, let me know. . .
Thanks,

I appreciate you getting back to me on this however when I go to the web site, this is what I get. I am kind of suprised at the total lack of support as Creative actually sells these from their store on Ebay, without any thing except the unit. If anyone else has some ideas, I would appreciate it.

Hi as I said I have a v570 ive had it about a year ,and today its saying that I need to replace the battery and that theres a problem with the battery Exact warning is There is a problem with your battery so your computer may shut down suddenly .Im really worried ,right now its my dedicated computer and I have a ton of work to get done on it so im really dependent on it .What I wanted to know is
1If I can just keep using it pluged into the adapter even if the battery has problems ,I think thats called ac power ?

Wait take it out along with the adapter and then hold the power button again ,with it out ? can I ask why ,just for curiousity ,as it doesnt have either battery or charger wouldnt it be technically without any power ? Or does it have residual power or something .Again thank you
It needs to be done without adapter and without battery. This process releases any residual charge from system. This helps in most hardware cases.
The settings in Energy Management do not lead to the issue that you are facing. Also battery gauge rest\et does a full discharge and charge of battery. It helps in activating all cells of battery and increase backup. In your case, I would suggest not to try it. It may cause more damage.

My problem is that when I plug the charger to my laptop, the battery light/indicator becomes red, usually meaning that there a problem, which there is. My laptop does charge, I dont know if its charging faster or slower. Another thing is that the charger is very very hot!
So I dont really know what to do, any sugestions?

Can you let me know the specific model DV6 this is? An AC adapter being somewhat hot is normal, but being very very hot is not. Is the adapter hot enough to burn you? If so I would definitely disconnect it from the wall until we can verify that it is functioning properly.

• Powerbook g4 Battery Problem--Help!

I've had a Powerbook G4 (15 inch) since 2005 so it's clearly out of warranty. It was bought right before the charger was changed on the Powerbooks. My battery was part of the recall group so this battery was new as of January 2007.
My battery will not charge. When I turn on my computer, my time and date is March 24th 2001 (and will fix itself in a few minutes of turn on). My charger will turn orange for about...10 minutes before turning green. However, my battery is not charging at all. AT ALL.
I've tried resetting PRAM (mind you, I know what these terms mean only bc of googling due to this problem) by pulling battery and power and holding down power for 5 seconds then turning on. OPTION + COMMAND + P + R nor OPTION + COMMAND + O + F DO NOT work at all. They do nothing. Tried each about ten times--nothing. Tried a different charger--still the same problem. The battery worked as of week ago but the battery died while the laptop was asleep.
System profiler states the following:

Hi, save, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Reset the Power Management Unit in your Powerbook and see whether the failure to charge persists, as I fully expect it will. If it does, your battery with only 45 cycles on it is clearly defective — a common problem among the batteries that were provided under the replacement program.
Take your Powerbook, adapter and battery to an Apple Store Genius Bar and demonstrate the failure to charge. The Genius will probably reset the Power Manager again and then test using a different battery and a different adapter. When s/he concludes that your battery is defective, you should be offered another free replacement battery.

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra VS Winows Media Player - Help?

I have a 40gig Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - a computer crash a year ago resulted in a replacement by the computer company - and it came with Windows Media Player.... when I tried to run it and had already installed the Creative software/Music library - Media Player crashed my computer every time - had to uninstal...,. now - that computer is defecti've and has just been replaced again by the maker - and before I load the Creatai've Software wondered if this is what is interfering with Media Player? Does anyone know? When I buy music it looks for Windows Media Player I believe - and I can play it and transfer the music in Creative program - BUT - it no longer lists my music library as single songs but as folders - and I have to go specifically into a remote folder to try to find the downloaded music and transfer to the Nomad....
Any help is appreciated..... I'm lost!
Thanks
KB

The firmware update only works on a windows XP machine.
you also need to have Windows media player 0 installed
you must not have windows media player or windows media player runtime lurking in your windows XP add/remove programmes bit on the control panel.
if you do have WMP first remove it ( roll back) then re-boot, then remove windows media player runtime ( rioll back) and re-boot.
open windows media player, if it is windows media player 0 then you should be OK, if its windows media player 9 you need ot download and install windows media player 0.
Check again to make sure that windows media player and windows media player runtime are not in the add/rmove programs.
Back up everything on the player, all music, playlists and data files.
update the firmware.
if it stalls part way, like it did for me the last time i updated a Zen Xtra ( last weekend -installing a new motherboard ) dont panic.
it will go to rescue mode, close the firmware update, the player will go to rescue mode, then re-satart the update, on the zen xtra, slect re-load OS then on the firmware update click on English. then slect re-load os on the player.
make sure that the player is fully charged, and that the mains charger is also attached.
just out of interest, when you remove the front panel on your zen xtra to get to the battery, does the headphone jack ( visable through a hole in the top right) have a blob of red paint on

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - Battery 3.6v vs. 3

Hey all - I'm looking to purchase a replacement battery for my 30g Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra and I've found some cheap ones from ebay (such as this one). The question I have is this: my stock battery is 3.6v but this replacement (which has the same parts number) is rated at 3.7v - is this a problem? Will this damage my player?
Please let me know what issues this may cause and what successes/failures people have had with replacement batteries.
Thanks in advance!!!
Dale

I found the following discussion on PowerStream.com :
Q: What is the difference between the 3.6 volt and the 3.7 volt lithium-ion and lithium-polymer cells?[/url]A. This quesiton has been on my mind for a few months. There is a lot of folklore out there about this. It confused me for two reasons. Firstly, I have never heard of a higher charge voltage for some cells and not others. Secondly, the 3.6 is just a rule-of-thumb average of the battery voltage anyway . The actual voltage varies between 4.2 volts and 3 (or 2.8) volts during the discharge. It doesn't have one voltage. You can't just put a meter on a cell and say "this one is a 3.6 volt cell" or "this one is a 3.7 volt cell."So I asked a friend who has a PhD in battery chemistry and has been designing, testing, and manufacturing lithium ion and li-poly cells for over 5 years. Here is his answer:There is no difference between 3.6V and 3.7V cells. The reasons why people say 3.6V in one case and 3.7V in other cases are due to discharge rate. If you discharge your lithium ion cells with 0.2C rate, the middle point voltage of the cells is 3.7V. If you discharge your lithium ion cells with 2C rate, the middle point voltage of the cells is 3.6V or even lower. The middle point voltage of a lithium ion cells, including Polymer Lithium ion Cells, is between 3.6V and 3.7V, variable upon discharging rate.In other words, it is mostly marketing hype. Now the modern cells tend to keep their voltage higher during discharge than the old ones, so a marketing person could easily say "this makes the average higher, so let's call it a 3.7 volt cell."But why stop there? Why not rate the voltage as the peak voltage and get the jump on everybody? "It's a 4.2 volt cell, demand nothing less!"So don't get caught up with the hype when selecting a batteryMessage Edited by RobertoV05 on 0--2006 2:37 AM

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB not playing correctly anymore, help!!

Thanks. I keep getting directed to that knowledge base page, but it is not addressing my problem. My computer immediately tells me that the device has "malfunctioned" and the computer does not recognize it. I only have the usb cord that came with the zen, so I don't have another one to try. I love my zen and have staunchly defended it over the years vs. an i-pod. However, this is my 2nd onI've had my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB for over 5+ years. It has worked great, with minimal problems. I had a firmware update issue quite a while back. I'm not sure how to resolve this problem. Here is the situation:
Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB is fully charged and ready to use.
I tried loading a set playlist but it won't load. So I tried another, and it doesn't load. Not sure what to do, I go to the menu. This time I choose an artist/band. The music loads, but it doesn't play. I try again, then it starts to play. So I load a few other artists that way. It seems like I had a issue to work out later. Being away from my computer that was going to have to wait. After some time the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB started to start N stop diferent songs. A few times it froze while playing a song. Then would unfreeze to play another, then suddenly start playing the previous one. After about 0-5 minutes of this I decided I had enough. So I planned to empty the playlist, and turn it off. It took me atleast three attempts to empty the playlist and turn it off.
Are these problems fixable What are they hardware or software
Would an OS or firmware update fix these problems Is my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB hard dri've going Can I get a replacement Or do I need to buy a new player
Please help me get my player working. I really like this model, I'd hate to have to replace it.
in 5 years. (The first one fried itself, but fortunately was still under warrantly.) Sadly, I, too, am considering moving on. I onlyreceived generic help fromthe Creative SupportTeam (who ultimately told me my zen is "unrepairable" when their one-size-fits-all solutions didn't work).Since there seems to be an overwhelming # of people experiencing similar problems, maybe the time is right to make the change, especially since an iPod classic 60 GB (7th Generation) is quite affordable these days.
[/B]

Formatting will erase all the files on the player,Cleanup scans the disc & corrects file system errors, broken links (from when you delete things)ect. but does NOT repair bad sectors,Reboot then rebuilds the file system. I'd do the Cleanup>Reboot first to see if that solves the problem.here you will find how to open the player to see what dri've is in there. You can then search Ebay or Google the model number to find another one.

• Problem starting up my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen X

Ok well I have a 40GB Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, and have had it for about a year. Now earlier today i was attempting to connect it to my computer to copy songs onto it. The battery ran out and i was not able to do this.
When turning my player back on, it got stuck on the loading screen that says EAX and did not move from this. When it is on this screen, i can't turn it off.
I let the battery run out to see if it would start when i then charged it, yet the same happened, and it turns on as soon as i put in the charger it is again stuck on this one loading screen.
I have pressed reset as well, and this makes no difference, it just loads up to the same screen and doesn't move. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!Message Edited by mattyb23 on 09-25-2005 06:23 PM

Go into rescue mode and run a disk cleanup.

• Problems with Nomad Jukebox Zen and Mediasource - Please he

Hi,
I own a Nomad Jukebox Zen NX, and I'm having problems with Creative Mediasource seeing the device. Everything has been working fine for a while; I have been able to upload songs from my Zen to my PC and download songs from my PC to my Zen. However, when I tried plugging in my Zen today, the computer did the normal "boop-beep" signaling that the device had been plugged in. However, when I went into Creative Mediasource to download some songs to my Zen, the Zen did not come up under the "Sources" menu, on the upper left, where it usually does.
I exited Mediasource went into "My Computer" on my desktop and, sure enough, the Zen was there under "Audio Devices," and when I double clicked on the icon, it brought showed all of the music files I have on my Zen. This shows that my computer does indeed see the Zen, but Mediasource doesn't?
Any ideas?
All help is very much appreciated,
Jason

Your MediaSource plugin of the MP3 player may have been uninstalled. Here is what you should do:

- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.

• Help, my nomad jukebox Zen wont go past the EAX opening scr

my nomad jukebox Zen wont go past the EAX opening screen, it freezes for about a minute on the eax screen then goes to rescue mode.
none of the choices on the rescue mode seem to help get me past this problem.
Any help out there will be hugely appreciated?

You can try the advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net at your OWN RISK. If you don't want to try this or are under warranty then contact Creative Support.
If you aren't under warranty you can contact Creative Support to see if they will repair it. If you want to try repairing it yourself, taking the risk the hard disk is at fault, then you can follow Rudi Cheow's excellent guide. There's also a thread here at the Zen Nomadness.net forum on compatible dri'ves, and the last page of Rudi's guide also has information on this.

• Nomad Jukebox 1 Battery Issue, I thi

I just bought this nomad jukebox off of somebody in the area at a local event. I do not know much about it. I have had it for almost a week now and I noticed that after about hour to 2 hours of play time that it will start acting up. The screen will freeze up. Then it shuts down and says the battery is low, but it was fully charged and only running for like an hour or at the most 2 hours at times, but really I think the most I have been able to run it is hour and a half.
Is this a problem that can be fixed by me just simply buying new batteries? That is what I am kind of leaning toward. Or is it something wrong with the player or the charger on the player? Thank You. I will appreciate any answers.

The original batteries in the first JB would only last for about 3 hours at the most anyway. NiMH rechargeables don't hold the same amount of charge as the LiOn batteries used by the newer players. You can use any NiMH rechargeables so you can replace the originals with 2350 or 2500 mAH batteries for a longer life, but you will never get close to the 4 hrs+ quoted for the newer players.

• Solved my iPhone 5 Battery Problems: Maybe it can help you!

Hi every one, I saw many topics regarding battery problems with the iPhone 5. I responded to one discussion describing what I did to solve the iPhone 5 battery dying fast on me. So I thought I'd make a discussion here to help out other users with the same problem.
I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. I was using an iPhone 4 for the longest time, and on that phone I was able to watch videos, listen to music and use all the other features of the phone. The battery still lasted me the whole day, I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to use the iPhone 5 the same with out it dying on me fast.
My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference.
I use my Phone as my iPod when I work out, and I run continuous music on it for 1.5-2 hours straight, along with sending texts to my friends. In this duration I would only use 15-20% which was a huge improvement from before. I would say that the battery life was on par with my iPhone 4 battery! It is such a relief, now I can use my iPhone 5 to it's fullest potential without having to worry it'll die on me fast.
I recommend other iPhone 5 users try draining their batteries a couple of times before charging as well if they are experiencing problems.
Hope this helps!
Dylan

I would let the battery completely die before I would charge it again. I would keep 3g off and only turn it on if I'm going to use it and turn it off again. Because the phone uses more power for the 3g/4g that the battery dies even faster.
I text a lot to friends so I'm constantly texting through out the day and when I work out continously run music on it for close to 2hours. It would only drain 15-20% of the battery, which really is a huge improvement.
I also use Siri quite often through wifi and it barely uses any battery power. Try letting the phone die until it turns off a couple of times before you charge it. That is what I did before a friend requested doing that after I was getting fraustrated with the battery power.
