Nomad Jukebox help please!!!

I have a three part question, the first is once I transfer mp3s on my jukebox can I transfer them back? If so how? Second, how do I get my jukebox to play one track after another? I'm finding that it will play one track and stop I might have something wrong in my options. Third, what is the life of these rechargeable batteries? I might have had a 20-30 min charge and then it went out on me.

. Yes, using the reverse procedure in PlayCentre/MediaSource.
2. The play mode is probably set to single track. Read the manual about play modes.
3. Depends on the capacity of the batteries. Good capacity batteries 800+mAh should last 4 hours or so playing average MP3s. If you play WAVs, do a lot of copying etc. the battery life will drop dramatically.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra PLEASE HE

My player was locked on the EAX screen, and I figured out how to get to the rescue mode, and I clicked "Clean Up" and then pressed the check, and then it went back to the rescue mode screen and nothing's happening. Where do I go from here? What does the "Reboot" button do? How can I get it to work again without loosing all of my files?
Please help me!Message Edited by refeik on 07-4-2005 02:34 AM

is this the first time this has happened?
If it is, then the only way i know how to fix it is keep pressing the reset button with a paper clip. If that doesnt work, a worst-comes-to-worst solution is to bang your player hard against a desk, this can help because, in your situation, your Hard Dri've may be stuck, hitting it may help get loose and working again.
I used to have a Nomad Jukebox like you, and that worked twice for me, the last time it got stuck, it never worked again.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB not playing correctly anymore, help!!

Thanks. I keep getting directed to that knowledge base page, but it is not addressing my problem. My computer immediately tells me that the device has "malfunctioned" and the computer does not recognize it. I only have the usb cord that came with the zen, so I don't have another one to try. I love my zen and have staunchly defended it over the years vs. an i-pod. However, this is my 2nd onI've had my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB for over 5+ years. It has worked great, with minimal problems. I had a firmware update issue quite a while back. I'm not sure how to resolve this problem. Here is the situation:
Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB is fully charged and ready to use.
I tried loading a set playlist but it won't load. So I tried another, and it doesn't load. Not sure what to do, I go to the menu. This time I choose an artist/band. The music loads, but it doesn't play. I try again, then it starts to play. So I load a few other artists that way. It seems like I had a issue to work out later. Being away from my computer that was going to have to wait. After some time the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB started to start N stop diferent songs. A few times it froze while playing a song. Then would unfreeze to play another, then suddenly start playing the previous one. After about 0-5 minutes of this I decided I had enough. So I planned to empty the playlist, and turn it off. It took me atleast three attempts to empty the playlist and turn it off.
Are these problems fixable What are they hardware or software
Would an OS or firmware update fix these problems Is my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB hard dri've going Can I get a replacement Or do I need to buy a new player
Please help me get my player working. I really like this model, I'd hate to have to replace it.
in 5 years. (The first one fried itself, but fortunately was still under warrantly.) Sadly, I, too, am considering moving on. I onlyreceived generic help fromthe Creative SupportTeam (who ultimately told me my zen is "unrepairable" when their one-size-fits-all solutions didn't work).Since there seems to be an overwhelming # of people experiencing similar problems, maybe the time is right to make the change, especially since an iPod classic 60 GB (7th Generation) is quite affordable these days.
    [/B]

Formatting will erase all the files on the player,Cleanup scans the disc & corrects file system errors, broken links (from when you delete things)ect. but does NOT repair bad sectors,Reboot then rebuilds the file system. I'd do the Cleanup>Reboot first to see if that solves the problem.here you will find how to open the player to see what dri've is in there. You can then search Ebay or Google the model number to find another one.

  • Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra VS Winows Media Player - Help?

I have a 40gig Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - a computer crash a year ago resulted in a replacement by the computer company - and it came with Windows Media Player.... when I tried to run it and had already installed the Creative software/Music library - Media Player crashed my computer every time - had to uninstal...,. now - that computer is defecti've and has just been replaced again by the maker - and before I load the Creatai've Software wondered if this is what is interfering with Media Player? Does anyone know? When I buy music it looks for Windows Media Player I believe - and I can play it and transfer the music in Creative program - BUT - it no longer lists my music library as single songs but as folders - and I have to go specifically into a remote folder to try to find the downloaded music and transfer to the Nomad....
Any help is appreciated..... I'm lost!
    Thanks
    KB

The firmware update only works on a windows XP machine.
you also need to have Windows media player 0 installed
you must not have windows media player or windows media player runtime lurking in your windows XP add/remove programmes bit on the control panel.
if you do have WMP first remove it ( roll back) then re-boot, then remove windows media player runtime ( rioll back) and re-boot.
open windows media player, if it is windows media player 0 then you should be OK, if its windows media player 9 you need ot download and install windows media player 0.
Check again to make sure that windows media player and windows media player runtime are not in the add/rmove programs.
Back up everything on the player, all music, playlists and data files.
    update the firmware.
if it stalls part way, like it did for me the last time i updated a Zen Xtra ( last weekend -installing a new motherboard ) dont panic.
it will go to rescue mode, close the firmware update, the player will go to rescue mode, then re-satart the update, on the zen xtra, slect re-load OS then on the firmware update click on English. then slect re-load os on the player.
make sure that the player is fully charged, and that the mains charger is also attached.
just out of interest, when you remove the front panel on your zen xtra to get to the battery, does the headphone jack ( visable through a hole in the top right) have a blob of red paint on

  • Re: Help with Nomad Jukebox 3 and Creative Softw

Okay I need help with the following...(bare with me!)
First, I have a Nomad Jukebox 3. I record shows with it at concerts that allow me to record via the optical input. I currently use Creative Media Source but I don't have the pluggins to "Burn CD". I am wondering how I can go about getting these?
Currently I can not burn these "line recordings" onto CD, and when I right click on the line recording in the Creative Media Source to find the file name there is no Properties icon that I can go to, to see the file name so I can just do a search in my computer to pull these up in my current CD burning software.
Also, "the line recording" is one big file. What program/software do I use to splice up the individual tracks so that it won't be one long "line recording"?
Now when I bring my music from CD or my computer to my Nomad, I've been using Creative Play Center. Do I have to use this all the time or can I use Creative Media Source? I'd rather use one or the other and not have both to deal with... I don't see any icon of my Nomad Jukebox 3 on the Media Source but there is one on the Creative Play Center.
Okay now one more thing just to inform you that from my Creative Play Center I am converting a concert that I downloaded and it's currently in wav format. I am converting it to MP3. Now when I do that in the Play Center window it now shows me the wav and MP3 format for each individual song. That's cool that it doesn't completely erase the wav format, however when I want to download each song in MP3 format I have to go to each individual MP3 which is fine but everytime the Transfer Options Box opens which asks me the Title, Artist and Genre each time.
Is there a way that I can just fill out the information once, so I don't have to do that for each MP3?
Thank you for helping me understand the Creative software and helping me know what I can and can't do!

I found the CD burning module for MediaSource hidden in the download for the Audigy soundcards, at least in the European downloads area. Take a look and if you can't find I'll have another look for it.
To edit the file you need a WAV editor. I'm guessing Creative might bundle something with their soundcards, or you can look on the Internet and take your pick from the cheap to the mega expensi've. Audacity might do it, and it's free http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ so worth checking.
MediaSource is the replacement for PlayCentre, but I think it just comes down to which you prefer (but they are very very similar). Note that you have to download the Nomad pack for MediaSource to get it to work with MediaSource.
When you transfer your converted MP3 to the player it's asking you for tag data, which is vital for the Music Library on the player. You can of course edit this tag information either in MediaSource direct, or probably more optimally in a dedicated tagging program. • Problems with Nomad Jukebox Zen and Mediasource - Please he

    Hi,
I own a Nomad Jukebox Zen NX, and I'm having problems with Creative Mediasource seeing the device. Everything has been working fine for a while; I have been able to upload songs from my Zen to my PC and download songs from my PC to my Zen. However, when I tried plugging in my Zen today, the computer did the normal "boop-beep" signaling that the device had been plugged in. However, when I went into Creative Mediasource to download some songs to my Zen, the Zen did not come up under the "Sources" menu, on the upper left, where it usually does.
I exited Mediasource went into "My Computer" on my desktop and, sure enough, the Zen was there under "Audio Devices," and when I double clicked on the icon, it brought showed all of the music files I have on my Zen. This shows that my computer does indeed see the Zen, but Mediasource doesn't?
    Any ideas?
All help is very much appreciated,
    Jason

Your MediaSource plugin of the MP3 player may have been uninstalled. Here is what you should do:
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.

  • Help, my nomad jukebox Zen wont go past the EAX opening scr

my nomad jukebox Zen wont go past the EAX opening screen, it freezes for about a minute on the eax screen then goes to rescue mode.
none of the choices on the rescue mode seem to help get me past this problem.
Any help out there will be hugely appreciated?

You can try the advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net at your OWN RISK. If you don't want to try this or are under warranty then contact Creative Support.
If you aren't under warranty you can contact Creative Support to see if they will repair it. If you want to try repairing it yourself, taking the risk the hard disk is at fault, then you can follow Rudi Cheow's excellent guide. There's also a thread here at the Zen Nomadness.net forum on compatible dri'ves, and the last page of Rudi's guide also has information on this.

  • Nomad jukebox battery problem....help

I was charging my player on the floor and my girlfriend stood on the plug that goes into the player and it broke the socket inside the player. I managed to glue it into place and it has lasted a while but now its virtually impossible to charge my player in the usual way. Is there a battery charger available so i can just pop the battery out and charge it seperately? any help would be greatly recieved. Im lost without me 30gb of choonz on me.

Ah, well spotted. I saw Nomad Jukebox in the subject and assumed the original NOMAD Jukebox.
It is possible to have 30Gb though, as the dri've can be upgraded.
But the breakaway power socket is also more common with the Xtra.
So to the original poster, if this is an Xtra you cannot buy a battery charger. You will need to fix your player.

  • Help my Nomad jukebox isnt recogniz

OK I bouight my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra from my friend and it works on his computer. When I put it in mine it doesnt detect it. Its boring because the only songs I have are the ones he already had on them. It cant be my usb port because both of my old mp3 players work.

Where can I located device manager sorry im new to this.
It's for more advanced users, so not everyone is familiar with it.
In Win XP, go to Control Panel > System, Hardware tab, Device Manager button.
Also when i try do install the driver it says "please reconnect your player"
Yep, once the driver's installed it's telling you to reconnect the player for it to take effect.

Does anyone out there know where I can download the drivers for Jukebox C? I have scoured the site but am finding nothing that seems to work with my Jukebox C and Win XP.
