Nomad Jukebox Not Connect

Hey all. Have had a browse but couldn't find a solution to my particular problem. I had Nomad Explorer working after installing on C dri've. However I then uninstalled and installed it onto another dri've, E. Now, when the players plugged in "New hardware found" message pops up, and explains there's been a failure which installing the software for the new hardware. I've tried reinstalling on C dri've, still didn't work.
Any suggestions of what I can try? I'm a bit screwed without it!
Thanks all.

Thanks for takin the time to reply. I've now sorted the problem.
I used Advanced Uninstaller to uninstall several versions of the drivers/explorer/media source (and a few instalations of "gfegefs-dfdsf4-dfsfds4-332dewdw" etc). Windows only allowed removal of one instance where as Advanced Uninstaller recognised a few different instalations. (Not sure how!) I uninstalled the hardware driver too.
Downloaded drivers and updates from nomadworld, installed, connected, and then finally windows recognised new hardware, and displayed those magic worlds..."the drivers for your new hardware have successfully been installed".
Yay. :-)

I have a Nomad Jukebox Zen (USB 2.0) that just won't connect.
What can I do?

Could you post your O.S. Service pack ect. But for openers I would try doing a Cleanup>Reboot form the rescue screen on the player itself. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ap&thread.id=3

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra: Nomad Explorer says Not connected ... first time u

I just bought a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. I used the installation CD to install everything and Windows automatically tried to locate a driver for it but it was not successful, so I downloaded the driver for the Zen Xtra from this website and installed it.
However, when I open "Nomad Explorer" it shows the player's logo with a red X and says "Not connected". How do I get the player to connect to the computer?
This is my first time using a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra and I have limited computer knowledge, but I know all my USB ports are working.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi!?I'm having the same problem. I bought the player, but after a couple of weeks I've exchanged it, because of some hardware problem. The original player worked all right, but the new one is not recognized by NOMAD Explorer ("not connected"), and?I also?can't copy files via Windows Explorer. The strange thing is I managed to copy a couple of albums, but then it'sstarted to hang the Explorer. The firmware version is 2.0.03. I reinstalled the drivers and NOMAD Explorer - didn't help. PS: You've got to help me, 'cause my iPod-loving friends laugh at me, so it's my and Creative's reputation we're talking about

I am having the same exact problem with my 30gb. Guess I will try what you guys and gals said to do and if no luck then would someone please let me know when there is a class action:smileyvery-happy:? • Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox suddenly not recognized by Windows XP Netbook

I'm desperately struggling to get my Creative Zen Xtra Nomad Jukebox MP3 player (version .03.02) to be recognized by my computer. (My background is I'm about 4 hours south of my home, temporarily helping my exwife who is slowly dyiing of cancer... [URL"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA67hNO3H4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA67hNO3H4 I have two laptops with me, one with XP (and the other rarely used here with Vista.) My main computer, a Dell Desktop running XP, is back at home with most everything else as I live out of a suitcase and do the best I can.... 'nuf said for my situation)
About 3 weeks ago, I hooked my Creative mp3 player up to my MSI netbook, (windows xp and recently updated with all microsoft updates) and noted that the MP3 player was not being recognized by the computer. When plugged into the USB, my computer gave a 'chirp' and would look for hardware for the player, but ultimately it couldn't find it. The DEVICE page of the SYSTEM menu had the Jukebox listed with the nefarious yellow question mark. Though I don't have a CD drive on this computer, I had a portable drive with most of my software with previousl loaded software archived there, including the installation disc for my MP3 player; but none of the drivers or software that I loaded would make a difference. I download all sorts of drivers & firmware updates from the CREATIVE web site, nothing changed. I would remove all the creative software, reload, reload software, hook up the MP3 player, and.... it would recognize the Nomad player but have no way to incorporate drivers for it's use. Even as I directed it to the original 'CD' copied onto my netbook's desktop, my Windows XP with service pack 3 just couldn't do more than let me know that it couldn't quite recognize the player other than identifying what it was.. I could uninstall the device, the drivers; all to no avail.
My incorrect guess at the time was that something internal to the mp3 player was broken and though I was lucky that it still worked as a player without any issues, I just had no way to access the 30Gb of books & lectures. Nor would the Creative Media Source work with it, as it felt that the player was not even hooked up to the computer. So,I bought a new 'used' identical model on ebay, except that the seller had upgraded the firmware and the harddrive. Once I got the new player, it's too, would not be recognized by my MSI netbook. (though it works on the laptop I have running vista).
Last week I gratefully went home for one day to check my mail and attend to a few matters, and upon hooking my original MP3 player to my main desktop, my original MP3 player immedately docked to my computer and was working as it always had?
Now, atleast, I knew the MP3. player was working and functionally intact, and the challenge was completely computer software issues on my netbook, possibly due to some service pack upgrade or the sort.
I've spent several hours, reviewing all sorts of fixes and maneuvers; from blogs and tech support pages, though none made any difference as I changed various settings or softwares on my netbook. I saw lots about Vista not supporting my old firmware (which isn't an issue as my Netbook is XP.. I also saw that Windows Media player might have been the problem, and reverted to WMP 9, then to 0, though stlll no change.
I have never turned to a tech support board before, but I'm very much in need of assistance right now. Please, if you think you can guide me, I would appreciate it.
~Stuart

Thanks for the reply. I sure wish I had a better understanding of this. I will request one more piece of invaluable knowledge from you! My old zen & windows xp computer hum in awesome performance again. Unfortunately, since I thought my old zen was broken, I'm now with this new beast, with the updated firmware 2.0.03. From what I previously read on Boards and Forum pages, this device shouldn't be connected to my XP computer while I'm still using my OLD zen with old firmware. As you mention in the above note, I connect this 'new' Zen to my Vista computer, & it immedately goes into docking mode. I tried loading the newest firmware available for my device (though it doesn't list vista as compatable), and of course, when the mediasource version 3.30.2 loads, it doesn't have a clue that my zen is connected. Only WMP version seems to pay attention, which may not be that bad. But once I was up & running in WMP, I couldn''t seem to create playlists and or even clearly get it to load the Audio Lectures that I have onto it. So, Wise, All Knowing CREATIVE Wizard, any suggestions what I do? Delete WMP? I will hope never to bother you again, once this is solved!!!
But I am tremendously grateful for the assistance. I only spent about an hour in WMP accomplishing nothing, before I realized I should just turn to you, admit my defeat, and hope for insight and practical advice!!!!!
Thanks!!!

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - Windows sees it - Mediasource installation does not

HI, I have tried to recover from a failed HD and on the new installation - the jukebox is detected by windows. This I know in the "Device Manager" where I can see the "nomad juke box" with a yellow sign on it. But when I go to install the Mediasource application - it says "failed to detect a device" retry/abort (ouch). I have tried the following options
Moved the cable to a different USB port (not connected via hub anymore)(but windows was seeing the device).
Then I thought maybe an older model of the mediasource will work - nope.
Then I tried installing? NomadSync (source forge) installs fine - but I do not know how to work it
Then I tried installing Nomad Explorer - no go without media source.
Ok this player is fine - works fine - the version of firmware is .20.08 (I think). It was in the car for about one year
Other Ideas : use Red Chair software - then install Mediasource on top of that
Any ideas welcome.

Ok, this worked out accidentally - but happily
I first installed the driver - not the media source - but the driver for the device.
After that the windows device manager yellow sign disappeared - apparently the device driver was registered by windows.
Then I Installed Mediasource 5 - the installation went thru fine.
Does anyone have any recommended updates to install, please also advise what benefits.
Thanks.

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra connection probl

Hello Everyone.
First off, I am using Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (30G) with Windows XP - SP2. A few days ago my Zen Xtra would connect to my pc but as of today it no longer does. After searching through similar posts I am assuming it's not a problem with my Zen but with my PC. None the less, I did do my best to troubleshoot myself. I downloaded all possible firmware/drivers from Nomadworld.com. However - the firmware upgrade would not complete due to the fact that my device is not connected. I tried connecting my player to other USB ports on my PC - no luck. I used Nomad Explorer to do my transfers and as suggested in the FAQ, I tried downloading others (ie: MediaSource) however these wouldn't install because it could not detect any device. When I go to Device Manager/USB/ my Nomad isn't even listed. I have tried 3 different USB cables. The player isn't locked. Other devices work with the usb cables and port (ie: logitec clicksmart camera)
So now assuming it is a PC problem, where do I go from now? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me

Hibbs,
Thank you for your response. The only thing that comes to mind is k-lite codec pack I downloaded and installed for the Indeo codec needed for my clicksmart 820. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with the disruption of my device. The camera itself worked but wouldn't record videos until I installed the codec. Everything else to my knowledge is the same. No other new USB devices installed either.

• Nomad Jukebox Zen 40Gb Not connec

I gave my sister my old Nomad Jukebox 40Gb and it always says not connected. When I bought it'sI installed it with no problem. I have Windows XP home edition whch was preinstalled on my computer and she upgraded her from Windows 98 to XP Professional.

If you leave the player for several weeks with a discharged battery it can either (a) damage the battery beyond repair or (b) cause the battery voltage to drop so low that it won't be recharged. For the latter situation there's advice here in the Zen FAQ at Nomadness.net on what to do. But BEWARE that in certain situations Lithium Ion batteries can catch on fire or explode.

• Connecting to Nomad Jukebox 3 using MediaSource for XP-64

I am currently running Windows XP-64 and own a Nomad Jukebox 3.
I have downloaded the latest version of Creative MediaSource (for XP-64) which includes the Nomad plugin. Does this mean I'm able to connect to my Jukebox from here ? I can only see "My Computer and PC music Library".
Clayton

Hello,
Many thanks for your replies.
Unfortunately I could not get the device to work, this is what I did:
) I made sure that I had downloaded everything for CMS. The latest version I have is Creative MediaSource, release 3.30.2. I then hit "Check Update" and I received the following message:
Status: No updates are necessary for your Creative product. Your system already has the latest versions installed.
2) I then went to Tools > Settings and I have the following set:
Enable Detector - Checked
Play Sound On Detection - Checked
"NOMAD Jukebox 2/3/Zen" - Checked
"Show Detection Window to Select Task to Perform" - Checked
3) I then closed down CMS and took out the USB from my Jukebox and from the back of the PC. The PC played a sound when I reconnected, however when I went back into CMS I still have the same screen.
4) Also, I have an auto shutoff after a couple of minutes. When the Jukebox switches off, XP-64 then displays an error "USB device not found".
5) Please also note, that there appears to be no device written for the Nomad Jukebox 3 using XP-64. Do I need to wait for this driver first ?
6) The really weird thing is that XP-64 "knows" it's a Nomad Jukebox !! Whenever I reboot, remove the USB and reconnect XP-64 says "Nomad Jukebox" found !! The problem then, is that it's asking for the latest drivers.

• Missing Songs on Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra - 40GB. Player empty but space not 1

I have the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40GB.
Over the last couple of weeks I?ve been slowly ripping my CDs, using Creative MediaSource and then adding them to my Nomad player. Recently, I went to turn on my player and notice it saying ?rebuilding library?. I thought nothing of it.<SPAN> I then went to see how many songs and albums were on the player and from what I could tell it looked like a lot less than what I thought I had copied over. The songs were something like 3750 and the number of albums was something like 350, which was far less than what I thought it should be but was not 00% for sure.<SPAN> Total free space was something like 7800MB.
Anyway, yesterday, I tried to copy over some new songs that I had just ripped from CDs.<SPAN> ? of the way through the battery died on the Zen player so it stopped transferring. I went to charge the player and when turned it on the player said ?rebuilding library?. There should, at this point, had been 4500+ songs.<SPAN> I went and tried to copy over the files again, from my computer, and noticed that the songs that I had just copied and would have been skipped, were being copied over again. When I went to check Settings, About the player said I had the ~3750 songs plus the additional songs that had just copied over. At this point I just copied over the new songs bringing my total count to 4634. To be safe, I copied all the songs from my Zen back to a new computer, using Creative MediaSource. After copying over all the files, I then tried a reset of the player, thinking this would delete all the files on the Zen. Instead it did the ?rebuilding library?.<SPAN> When I went back to Settings, About, on the Zen player, it again said there was the ~3750 songs and ~350 albums.<SPAN> So the ?rebuilding library? on my Zen player keeps on removing/hiding my songs and albums.
Since nothing was working, I connected my Zen to my computer again and using the Creative MediaSource deleted all the songs on my Zen player. When I was done it is showing No. of Tracks: 0.<SPAN> Total Memory:<SPAN> 3833MB.<SPAN> Free Memory though is only 8659MB.
There is nothing on my Zen player that I can see. Even using Windows Explorer and Nomad Explorer, it is completely blank.
Someone help please.<SPAN> How do I get back my missing songs and/or reset the player? If at all possible I?d like to get the missing songs off the player since I don?t have those ripped songs on my computer and don?t feel like ripping all those songs again.<SPAN> What is going on?

• Nomad Explorer not detecting Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra after firmware upgr

<blockquote dir="ltr">From the firmware thread: "The Creative drivers shouldn't make any difference. An MTP device is looking for the Windows Media Player 0 MTP driver (which is installed with WMP0)."
Is that why my updated Zen Xtras (40G and 60G) are no longer recognized by Nomad Explorer on Windows XP? XP sees them. MediaMonkey sees them (and can synch). (WMP0 is installed, but I haven't tried it.) Nomad Explorer (3.0.0, 22 Sep 2004) says nothing's detected. Is this because I'm still using the latest driver (2.0.00), which the Creative download site says only supports firmware below 2.00.00. (If so, interesting choice by Creative, making us downgrade the driver.)?I wouldn't care, but Nomad Explorer is the only way (I know of) to edit the devices' names and startup bitmaps. And I wouldn't even care so much about the bitmaps, but I really really want to edit the names so that I can tell them apart in MediaMonkey's list of devices. Can we still use Nomad Explorer? Which driver should I be using? Creative's download section is anything but clear:?2.0.00 (8 Oct 2006): Supports XP but the firmware must be below 2.00.00.
.30.03 (3 Sep 2005): Supports XP but was released before firmware 2.0.03, so does it support it's?There's also a legacy OS Driver for Windows 2000 (.0.00, 27 Feb 2006) which specifically says it supports PFS players. Is this what I need? Can we no longer use Nomad Explorer on XP (even though it's listed as a download)?

Thanks, but if the Nomad Explorer requires the suite to work, I'll just have to do without it. The Creative Suite is better than it used to be, but IMO it's still not as good as MediaMonkey. Still, Creative doesn't list the Suite as being required for Explorer to work, so I don't think that's it. From the Download page:?Requirements
Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Millennium Edition or Windows 98 Second Edition<
Creative NOMAD Jukebox 2, 3, Zen, Zen USB2.0, Zen NX, Zen Xtra or Zen Touch<
I'll try the other driver tonight and see if that's it.

• Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB not playing correctly anymore, help!!

Thanks. I keep getting directed to that knowledge base page, but it is not addressing my problem. My computer immediately tells me that the device has "malfunctioned" and the computer does not recognize it. I only have the usb cord that came with the zen, so I don't have another one to try. I love my zen and have staunchly defended it over the years vs. an i-pod. However, this is my 2nd onI've had my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB for over 5+ years. It has worked great, with minimal problems. I had a firmware update issue quite a while back. I'm not sure how to resolve this problem. Here is the situation:
Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB is fully charged and ready to use.
I tried loading a set playlist but it won't load. So I tried another, and it doesn't load. Not sure what to do, I go to the menu. This time I choose an artist/band. The music loads, but it doesn't play. I try again, then it starts to play. So I load a few other artists that way. It seems like I had a issue to work out later. Being away from my computer that was going to have to wait. After some time the Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB started to start N stop diferent songs. A few times it froze while playing a song. Then would unfreeze to play another, then suddenly start playing the previous one. After about 0-5 minutes of this I decided I had enough. So I planned to empty the playlist, and turn it off. It took me atleast three attempts to empty the playlist and turn it off.
Are these problems fixable What are they hardware or software
Would an OS or firmware update fix these problems Is my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB hard dri've going Can I get a replacement Or do I need to buy a new player
Please help me get my player working. I really like this model, I'd hate to have to replace it.
in 5 years. (The first one fried itself, but fortunately was still under warrantly.) Sadly, I, too, am considering moving on. I onlyreceived generic help fromthe Creative SupportTeam (who ultimately told me my zen is "unrepairable" when their one-size-fits-all solutions didn't work).Since there seems to be an overwhelming # of people experiencing similar problems, maybe the time is right to make the change, especially since an iPod classic 60 GB (7th Generation) is quite affordable these days.

Formatting will erase all the files on the player,Cleanup scans the disc & corrects file system errors, broken links (from when you delete things)ect. but does NOT repair bad sectors,Reboot then rebuilds the file system. I'd do the Cleanup>Reboot first to see if that solves the problem.here you will find how to open the player to see what dri've is in there. You can then search Ebay or Google the model number to find another one.

• Nomad Jukebox zen nx : library does not load in

After replugging my Nomad Jukebox Zen Nx (.00.05e) to my computer, CMS(3.0.09) did not recognize the player. I followed the tips on this forum and installed the latest drivers and plug-ins.
Now the player appears in the device manager, but the library loads at an incredible low speed : even after 3 hours it was not finished yet.
How to solve this problem ?

Just to confirm that you have the following latest:
<FONT face=Helv size=2>
- Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
- Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
