Nomad JukeBox3 gets stuck upon booting

I have a Nomad Jukebox 3 with the latest firmware that recently stopped playing in the middle of a song. None of the function buttons worked; the unit was frozen. After pressing the reset button, it reboots where I can see the Creative logo and EAX logo screens then it freezes on the bitmap screen. Tried rebooting and connecting to PC many Xs without success. Worked perfectly for over 3 years.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks.

take out the batteries, leave it for some time and then put back the batteries and hope for the best...
otherwise I just guess it'ss getting old...
PS: would love a ZEN with integrated camera... why don?t they bring nothing like that on the market? 30GB would be enough for mp3s and some pics..

  • Q10 switches off when power button pushed once and gets stuck in boot up loop

    Hi All
All of a sudden my Q10 power button has become sensitive and restarts when pushed once.  When it tries to restart it gets stuck in the boot loop - going from red light to BlackBerry logo, back to red light.... If I push the power button a few times it will boot up.
I have tried to reload the most actual 10.3 software but problem still exists.
Any ideas?  Oh and its JUST gone out of warranty.....
Is it a power button issue or something more serious?

Sounds like button. I'm assuming that is one way they can fail. I don't know for sure. What I usually read about button problems is the button doesn't work at all.
The issues could with the 10.3.1 upgrade complicates guesswork. How did you reload the OS? If you did a clean install with an autoloader then I would say you did what you could do to rule out software.

  • P67A-GD65 gets sometimes gets stuck on boot status code 98 until i turn of main

    Hi,
I have a issue which seems to be more recurring over time - it simply gets stuck on the first status code screen, it continues to do it until I power down system by mains for 10 secs.
To start with I'd say only once a month but now about once a week.
The usual boot status codes read "98 B4 98 94"  and when the problem occurs it just gets stuck on the first 1.

I don't really know as I have the as shipped BIOS 1.9 on mine and only problem I have is my mouse doesn't work in BIOS and since mice never worked in BIOS before these new MB's it's nothing I'm concerned about. It seems every new BIOS fixes one thing and then another problem crops up for other people so I'm sticking with the no mouse and no other problems BIOS 1.9. The only BIOS's I understand that have had the fewest problems for most people have been 1.9 & 1.C. Mines goes through POST so fast I can't even read anything as it flashes by everything in just a few seconds and goes to loading Windows.
Unplugging the USB devices was just a suggestion for test purposes not a work around for the problem.

  • Late 2007 Intel iMac getting stuck at boot...sometimes.

I'll go into as much detail here as I can, but feel free to ask questions. This is:
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.21f4
I rarely shut this computer off, and for the most part it runs fine, but when I do shut it down or Restart, whether it boots again or not is a gamble. I have backups, so I'm not concerned about losing data, just concerned by the instability. There's no boot camp or strange partitioning. Just a single partition "Macintosh HD" that the system boots from.
Here are the tests I've run:
    1) Built in hardware test. I've had it hang while "probing hardware",
but once I run the extended tests, it always passes.
    2) Disk Utility. I've verified the disk and repaired it, occasionally
I get an error, but it's always been fixable, and the last test I ran
said the HD seemed to be okay. I've also repaired the permissions several
times. There are a couple of "Warning: SUID file 'bleh' has been modified and
    will not be repaired." warnings.
    3) Reset the SMC controller, by disconnecting all the cables including power
and letting it sit for 30 minutes -- several times.
    4) Done the Command-Option-P-R reset several times.
    5) S.M.A.R.T. indicates nothing wrong with the drive.
When things go bad, there are several ways it happens.
    1) Sometimes I get the grey screen, no apple or wheel. Just sits at the grey
    screen forever.
    2) After a couple of reboots, I'll usually get to the apple logo and wheel, but it
    stays there forever.
    3) After 10 or 20 reboots, I can usually get it to go all the way through
    and start up.
Sometimes when I can get it to boot from the Install DVD, the physical harddrive is listed in the Disk Utility but not the "Macintosh HD" partition, so I can't check or repair it.
I have thought that this might be heat related, maybe it works better as it heats up, but this doesn't explain the inability to just restart it when it's been running for a week.
What does this sound like to you? I have to admit that I'm stumped, and since I don't really have a good grasp on what's going on at each stage of the boot sequence, I can't narrow it down to one thing or another. I guess worst case I'll take it in to the "Geniuses" at the Apple Store, but I'd like to understand exactly what's going on here.
    Any help would be....helpful.

I've had totally mixed luck with hard drives in the past. I had a drive fail on me after 1 month and another last for the last 10 years. I'm not upset, assuming it doesn't happen again in 2 years.
Personally, I think the heat inside the iMac makes it a little harder on the drive, which might accelerate it's life. Once it started to go I installed "iMac Fan Control" (just google it) to keep the heat down. No idea if it milked a little more life out of it or not, but I think I'll keep running it.

  • G560 PXE error; OneKey Recovery seems to work, but then I get BSOD upon boot

I've got a 3-year old G560 and a few days ago, I ran into a PXE error out of the blue. I didn't really change anything about the computer's setup, and it may have been caused by commuting the laptop.
I already went through the whole F2 setup regimen of disabling network boot, changing over to compatible mode, trying every combination of boot order, etc.
When I was in compatibility mode, I was able to get the OneKey Recovery to work. There's no DVD involved, seems like it's stuck in that partition. I never set a restore point, but I didn't mind a factory reset. So I did the OneKey factory reset and it took about 15 minutes and it seemed to be okay, but then when I try to start the laptop, it will show the Windows logo, freeze there for a few seconds and then it flashes the blue screen of death for a split second (impossible to capture the error codes).
If I try it in safe mode, it shows the files that are being loaded, and it BSODs right after classpnp.sys
Now, I guess my main question is if OneKey will appear to work and yet maybe the HDD (hard drive) does not work. Could it be a matter of just replacing the hard drive? I did pull out the hard drive and re-mount it. Also the motherboard and re-mounted it. Is the OneKey function separate from the hard drive?
The laptop is so old that I wouldn't want to invest much money in its repair (warranty is past expiration date), but it's also been my daily computer, so I wouldn't mind if it was just a case of replacing a hard drive. With these problems, would it just be possible to make Ubuntu into my primary operating system by using an install disc?

    hi stophammertime,
    Welcome to the Forums.
It looks like you have some bad sectors on the HDD that's why the OKR didn't work or for some reason, OKR worked but the bad sectors corrupted the OS installation files. To verify this, you will need to run diagnostics on the HDD (try ultimatebootcd as it has diagnostic tools for ever brand of HDD's)
Also, the OneKey Recovery runs on a hidden partition on the HDD (usually the last few sectors of the drive). It's possible to trigger the OneKey Recovery if the partition structure isn't damage but if the target drive has bad sectors (i.e. Drive C:\), it may fail to image the drive or corrupt the installation files.
If verified that you have bad sectors on the HDD, you will need to replace the HDD and from here, you can:
    1. Use a recovery disc to restore the default OS (this is only psosible if you have created one using this method)
    2. If you can still read the COA product key at the bottom, you can burn an ISO copy on this website and use it to clean install Windows into your PC (if you get issues activating Windows, try to activate by phone).
    3. Scratch Windows and use Ubuntu as you're primary OS.
    Hope thish elps

  • Getting stuck at boot

I tried to add something into rc.local (esd something), I guess I forgot the & because now it just freezes at that point.
I deleted the safe boot option out of LILO, would that have helped this?

That's a FAQ. The program is, as you correctly gathered, running in foreground. This also means, however, that you can send it a SIGINT with CTRL-C and kill it that way. If SIGINT is captured, try CTRL-D, CTRL-U, CTRL-Z and CTRL-X. One of 'em ought to get you further.

  • Cloned volume gets stuck at boot "Waiting for Network File System"

I've used "Carbon Copy Cloner" many times with success and no problems (v 2.3 , default settings, make destination bootable) as I migrated to larger drives or make backups in advance of a major OS upgrade.
Last time I was successful, I was at OS 10.3.5. I use 3rd drive to boot my Mac, then clone the one non-boot drive to the other. I do the disk repairs & permission repairs as the normal course of this process, before & after. I am now at 10.3.9. I am do this clone in prep to go to 10.4 so I have a good back in the event of later problems.
When I attempt to boot from the newly cloned partition, it goes fine on the boot process until it hangs at the "Waiting for Network File System" step and never gets past there. I've never had this happen before. I retired all the steps, even ran "Diskwarrier", but no change.
I am not trying to run from a remote or network drive, just a 2nd drive in my
G4 from which I have previously been able to boot (until this last clone attempt that is).
I googled the symptoms ""Waiting for Network File System"", found it to be common, but no real answers. Is this one of those annoying UNIX things? Any ideas how to fix / turn-off whatever is hanging the boot up? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kool,
So there seems to be a "speed-bump" around 10.3.9. No wonder I have had the same results with a different tint. I went to Drive Genius to clone this one. Results with that were interesting.
If I did a [Device] clone, it would take and show at start with 'option' key... and work just like my internal with 3 accounts on it... login and proceed like it was internal. If I did a [Volume] clone, it would not show up at start with the 'option' key... I'd have to boot it from System Preferences > Start-up Drive. Once booted, it had no login screen so all the files were accessible. I took the clone of this 3 account PB and tried it on an iBook. Had to boot from System Preferences too, also, all the account were accessible from that machine... implying that anyone who had that drive could get past/into my files that would be secure on my computer, but not on the clone. If I took the [Device] clone and booted from the ibook at start with the option key, it would not get past the login screen... altho the mouse worked and I could click on the name, that was as far as it got, Froze.
So, I have figured, for safety, a [Device] clone is it, as long as the original computer lives. The safety features for login seem to be hardwired in the chip that the clone was made from (The iBook had 2 accounts but not my 3). If safety is not an issue, the [Volume] clone is fine... like moving to a newer OS on the same computer. It would seem from your experimentations that the situations with this 10.3.9 is just a hick-up and is solved in 10.4.3 with CCC v3...
Thanks for your info... I am thinking of going to Tiger, but I am so fond of this Panther...

  • Blackberry z10 help | My Mac cannot recognize the phone and my phone stuck at booting %99 for 6 hours nothing happened

My Blackberry z10 , Stuck at %99 Boot , and my Mac OSX doesn't recognize it?. i have latest Blackberry Link Version

The funniest part of the whole situation, Apple Care explained it to me as some kind of feature. The told me how to adjust the time when my computer sleeps and recommend I don't shut it down, let it sleep and "instant wake". I would bet if you called them about your Macbook, they would suggest you just close the lid and let it sleep rather than shutting it down.
Basically shutdown and restart have a problem and the solution is to not shutdown is how they explained it to me. They kept saying buzz words like "instant on" and "fast wakeup". My computer already could sleep and wakeup fast, but now shutdown and restart don't work right. I called them 3 times about it, but since they use these buzzwords, sounds like Lion is meant for a Macbook Air or a Mac with an SSD. If you have a normal hard disk, some of the saving/versions/resume features take too long to be written to the disk on shutdown. And when you start again, it takes a long time to reload the system to it's previous point.
Even if I uncheck the box to reopen windows on next start, it reopens them anyways.
If they can't give me a better explaination or some kind of fix, I will have to go back to Snow Leopard. I use my Mac in a production environment and depend on stability. They assured me before I upgraded that it would be stable and all the new saving and versions features could help my productivity. So far it's not helping me and downright annoying. You need to close all your windows before you close the program... if you have 5 windows open in terminal or textedit... every time you launch, they will launch all those windows. I just really want versions, not resume it seems.
But I can deal with it opening a million windows, just can't take it getting stuck on booting or not shutting down properly. This is a "feature" that should be fixed. LOL

  • Ipad 2 gets stuck in a boot cycle

2 weeks ago, i left my ipad 2 to go to bed. when i woke up, the device had turned itself off. it was about 90% charged before i went to bed. upon attempting to turn it back on in the morning, the apple logo screen was reached and then some white text similar to cmd text appeared on the side of the screen. The text said something about NAND driver, memory= 0 and some other things i didnt catch. the device then restarted and got to the same screen again, before continuing to restart and display that screen.
I attempted to restore the ipad via itunes (latest version) in restore mode and DFU mode. Each time i got the error 1611. Reading the error codes, i uninstalled my antivirus and itunes and reinstalled itunes. i then ran itunes in windows 7 compatibility mode as administrator. I still got the error.
I took the device to my friends house who tried to restore it, in restore mode in a usb 2.0 port but got the error 1613 i think. After this we tried restore mode and DFU mode in a 3.0 port. these both failed and gave error 21. looking at this code, we then used DFU mode in the 2.0 port and the device restored and updated from ios 5.3 to 6.1.2.
the device has worked fine for 2 weeks up until today when midway through a game, it turned off and i get stuck in the same boot cycle again.
what could be wrong with it and what can be done? the device is refurbished and within its 1 year warranty.

I just can't think of any other software fixes that might work since you have done everything imaginable and recommended by Apple - at least to the best of my knowledge.
There is one sort of off the wall thing that you can try, but frankly, I don't think that it will make any difference at all. I have read here in the forum to let the iPad battery totally drain until it shuts off, recharge the battery for about a half an hour, and then try restoring again. I don't know if this is an urban legend, or if it really works. I don't see what difference that would make anyway other than you would be restoring the software after letting the battery drain.
You have restored the iOS and downloaded it again using DFU mode and that hasn't worked. My assumption would be that there has to be some hardware issue going on. A faulty connection inside the device, a bad chip.... Something non software related.

  • After ICS, phone gets stuck at Droid boot animation

Ever since the ICS update, now my phone can't be turned off ever again, or upon booting it back up, it will always get stuck on the Droid boot animation. I can never get passed this now, and I've done soft resets, factory resets, cleared cache. I went to my local Verizon store and the Tech employee put it on her computer, where it did boot up. But now I'm wondering if I'm stuck with a phone that I can't ever turn off again unless I want to take it to a Verizon store in every instance.

        Hi Eri
I don't want you to be with a broken device. It may be an application causing this issue. Did any applications come back after the reset? I'm sure we can get this addressed!
Please power down the device then remove the battery and Sim card then reinsert and retest.
Let me know if this helps. I'll be happy to continue troubleshooting.

  • How do I get out of kernel panic?  kernel panic upon boot.  I did that hard drive cleanup and reinstalled Lion.  What about memory?  Anyone think I need to upgrade my memory?  I have 8gig.

I get kernel paic upon boot.  I did that hard drive cleanup and reinstalled Lion.  What about memory?  Anyone think I need to upgrade my memory?  I have 8 G of upgraded RAM. (20 inch iMac core 2 duo)

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.

  • Mac Pro gets stuck on the grey screen and won't finish booting

I have a Mac Pro 1, 1 recently (successfully) upgraded to snow leopard that gets stuck on the grey screen with the spinning rainbow cursor (after the apple logo and brief blue screen) and won't finish booting up. This happened after my computer froze up and I had to force quit.  I checked out the forums and I tried all the all the suggestions (like disconnecting peripherals) and appropriate disk utilities, saw no errors with the HD reported, and had no trouble doing a safe boot  (everything works o.k. there) or starting up from the software disk to perform the repairs.  I did notice that during the repair permissions command, it gets stuck in the last few minutes, the CD starts to chug along, and everything freezes and I have to force quit.  This happens every time I try it.  I eventually backed everything up, erased the HD and reinstalled the OS, reset PRAM and NVRAM, but I'm still getting the grey screen on restart.  Tech tool deluxe reports a "fail" on the video RAM, but everything else seems to check out.  Could it be a graphics card issue?   I did notice some funky visual glitches occurring prior to the breakdown.  Any other ideas?

I wouldn't trust Apple Disk Utility to do a hard drive repair, but I would go with TechTool Pro 5/6 if you have that instead of Disk Warrior from Alsoft.
Clone the drive, though you should have some bootable backup clones already; repair the clone; then boot and work from that drive. Always have a working copy of the system.
And off load all your data to other drives.
