Nomad MuVo won't conn

I plugged my Nomad MuVo into my USB to download Audible files. The audible manager continues to state that the MuVo is not connected when it clearly is. This is the same port that my other devices use with no problems. My Canon camera and my Otis player both use the same port with no trouble being recognized. I formatted the device and I took it to another computer that runs on windows XP ( my home computer runs on windows 98) and the MuVo worked fine so it is not the device. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi I just solved my problem. Instructions: After installing the software and tearing out all your hair and submitting angry requests for tech support, PUT THE CD BACK IN and tell it to install the Muvo software AGAIN. It comes up to a completely different screen announcing "installing drivers", and everything is smooth from then on.Message Edited by lifespurpose on 0-2-2004 06:48 AM

  • Problems Connecting NOMAD MuVo NX with Compu

I received a present from london. A Nomad MuVo NX. I'm having problems connecting it to the computer. My computer won't detect it at all. I installed all the programs and drivers and everything I could think of. I can't get an icon on the LCD screen saying that it's connected and it won't prompt me to install anything. I've also checked on my computer and it doesn't have an icon for it. It's not even showing up. I'm using a windows XP. Will be waitting for replies. thank you.

The MuVo doesn't need to install any drivers for Windows Me, 2000 or XP, as it should be detected as a USB mass storage device.
You can install the Creative software to rip CDs, and the software has features that help you work with the player such as "Smartfit", which helps compress files to fit on the player and save space.
But as for your problem, can you test with another PC to see if the issue is localised to your PC or to the player itself?

  • Nomad MuVo trouble with on/off swi

I have two the Nomad MuVo players and love them, but when I try to turn my player on, it immediately turns red and won't play. However, if I plug it into the computer the files play fine. Is my control button malfunctioing? Can it be replaced or fixed?

Thank you! You were correct. I checked the file I had transfered a folder instead of the individual music files so I guess the player couldn't play it. It is working fine now! Thanks for the speedy reply!

  • Problems running creative zen nano plus and nomad muvo on same compu

We have 2 nomad muvo mp3 players and now a zen nano plus .Have had constant problems with the media organiser .
Installed zen nano plus and selected enable smart fit to get maximum amount of songs and it worked fine but as soon as we tried to install software for the 2 nomad players it would not work smart fit for any of them.
Uninstalled everything and got the zen software in and it was running ok but then seemed to have problems and although smart fit was enabled it just copied files as the original mp3.
It then fatally crashed yesterday and I am awaiting a replacement as I had only had it for 2 days.
Is it possible to run all 3 and to be able to use smart fit on all 3 players or am I better off having just one working and using the file converter for the other 2.

Make sure that you have installed the MediaSource plugin for MuVo in order to get SmartFit You have to access SmartFit via the MuVo node of the Sources window in MediaSource. You won't see SmartFit if you access your MuVo via the My Computer node of the Sources window in MediaSource..
Here is what you should do to get the latest MediaSource software:
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
    - (Depending on your firmware)
Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    or:
Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative MuVo plugin .0.05 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Plugin for CD Burner 3.0.8 from your product download site.

  • GRRR - MuVo won't play songs after it's removed from USB P

:robotmad:Just bought a Nomad MuVo for a X-mas gift for my daughter, and I can't get the songs to play after I've removed the player from the USB Port. WMA songs seem to download to player OK, as I can play them from the MuVo through the jukebox software that was included with the MuVo. However, as soon as I take it out of the computer and turn it on, the light quickly goes from green to red as if there are no files there. Windows Explorer shows that they ARE. I always use the "safely remove hardware" function. I've tried to solve this by:
    Reformatting the player</LI>
Removing the "settings.dat" file from the player</LI>
    Downloading/installing latest firmware</LI>
    Downloading/installing latest driver</LI>
None of the above has changed anything.
If it matters, the WMA files I'm trying to download were purchased from WalMart online.
    <PLEASE HELP!

Jason - I could kiss you!!! The Windows Media software worked!!!!
Call yourself Santa because the only thing my daughter wanted for X-mas was an MP3 player and gift cards for music to download online. The MuVo was the 2nd player I bought -first one was an unnamed cool-looking (but so far entirely useless and supportless) one from EBay. I've been wasting endless hours since November trying to get one or the other to work with downloaded DRM-protected WMA files. I don't know what I would've done without you!!!
However, I'm irritated that the Creative website inferred that if I downloaded the latest software/firmware, it would allow me to use DRM songs with their software. I would think that a ton of people are going to have this issue, and the Creative info tells you that you have to use the enclosed software. This issue should really be prominently posted in the troubleshooting section.

  • NOMAD MuVo not working after formating with Wind

    Hi,
Yesterday, I formated my NOMAD MuVo player with windows (FAT32) and now it only works as a USB key. When I press on the play button the light turns to red and there's no sound.
I have neither the firware nor the drivers and when I try to install the firware it does not work (the software can't find the player that is plugged into the USB port).
    Could someone please help me?
    Thanks.

Have you followed the instructions on reloading the firmware at the download page? Often for MuVos there is a special procedure to follow (click "show details" next to the firmware download link).
Formatting as FAT32 can be a bad idea as some players don't recognise the file system.

  • Nomad Muvo "Rewi

    All,
I recently got a Nomad Muvo (just plain Muvo) from Audible.com, and this is my question:
Does the Rewind/Fast Forward on the Muvo just really suck?
    or
Is there something wrong with mine?
When I try to rewind, what ends up happening is that the audio sort of stutters, and I can wait for it to stutter around 5 or 6 times and it'll still be maybe ONE second past where I started. If I wait just a few moments longer, it has suddenly rewound a pretty large amount, like 30 seconds to a minute, at least. It isn't like a CD player where it rewinds pretty smoothly and you can more or less tell where in the track you are. The pamphlet I got with the player said that holding the rewind button down was the right way to rewind, and the longer you hold it down, the faster it goes...but this is pretty ridiculous, it's either go back half a second or a whole minute. Has anyone else experienced this, or does it sound like there's something wrong with my Muvo?
I have updated the firmware--no dice. Same deal. I don't want to sound like I'm slamming it, because I really like the device a lot, it's really handy for audio books in particular, but this rewind issue is really a pain. I know it's a small, inexpensi've device, but honestly the way mine is, rewind as a feature is kind of useless...and since when is rewind a feature, I'd expect it to be a given that you can rewind through a track in a way that's useful.
By the way, I seem to be seeing a lot of posts about Muvo's suddenly just not working out of nowhere, after a few weeks. Is that a common thing, an old firmware thing, current issue, etc.
    Thanks...

Joymbeer--yeah, it is extremely irritating. The closest workaround I've found is if I hear it "stutter" 0 times or more, it's gonna jump back a lot further than I want it to. What ends up happening is I do the "let it stutter 6 or 7 times" thing several times to get back to somewhere (remotely) close to where I want. So I end up spending a lot of time to go back say, 0 seconds. It's still really inadequate and as I said before, borderline useless as a feature.
Why do we usually rewind? Either we liked something we heard and want to hear it again, or we misunderstood something and need to hear it again. If we can only easily rewind about one second, then what's the point? It takes a second for you to realize you NEED to rewind, and maybe longer to get to the button. So basically, you can only easily rewind to, BEST case, the point at which you REALIZED you needed to rewind! Since I got the Muvo for free (and the fact that they can afford to give you one of these things with a $4.95 subscription fee should have told me something), I deal with it--you get what you pay for, I guess.
Jeremy-CL, it's useful to know that this is normal behavior, and useful to know that this is the same way Audible's Manager works--I haven't tried listening on my PC, so I'll take your word for it. I'd disagree with your description: it'd be more accurate to say that for the first few seconds that the button is held down, it rewinds in TINY, INFINITESIMAL segments. It definitely doesn't allow you to review recent moments quickly, maybe a recent SECOND, but no better than that. I'm not knocking you, but I have to wonder if you've actually tried using one of these things with Audible content. If it worked the way you described, it'd be fine. Anyway, frustrating/useless behavior that is considered normal is still frustrating and/or useless. At least I know that my Muvo isn't broken.
I don't know who to blame--Audible, for distributing a product that doesn't fully support their format, or Creative, for not fully supporting a format that they claim to support. Either way, it's ridiculous. I know Audible has their own proprietary compression scheme (more likely mp3 or wma with their own license management system), but come on, how hard could it possibly be to write some code to enable a proper Rewind function? Maybe an afternoon's work, at most? I guess there aren't enough people that use their Muvos mostly for Audible content that it's worth the effort--it's a reasonable notion, since Creative didn't exactly develop the Muvo for Audible. If Audible's employees write the software to support their content, then they need to get off their tails and do it properly. If it's Creative's guys that are in charge of doing that, then Audible needs to get on their case about it, since it's their customers that are getting schtupped. Somebody's half-ace-ing this in a big way. It makes Creative look bad, because if your devide doesn't work the way you believe it should, who do you immediately blame? The company that made the device, whether it's justified or not--every other Creative product I've ever bought has been great. It is a shame, because I really dig the Muvo, you can't really beat the form factor, and it is more frustrating because I know that it's probably not a hard issue to fix--write some code, offer it in a firmware upgrade, and you're done. If the Rewind feature worked well, I'd be telling all my friends to get one of these things. Anyway--I've gone on far too long.

  • Nomad Muvo d

Is there anyway to fix this?
It seems my . When I press the Play button nothing happens, no matter how fresh the batteries are. I plugged it into the USB port on my computer and nothing happened for a long time. Then suddenly the light went red and it was recognized by the computer (well. . . sort of). I tried to open it and it showed that it was empty (it had songs on it earlier). I thought I'd reformat it, but when I tried File/Format, it did not work, nothing happened. There definitely seems to be some sort of IO error.
Is there anyway to reset this? To wipe it and recover?
I tried holding down the play button as I plugged it into the USB port, but that didn't do anything. And now it seems that the computer never sees it (and the red light on the Muvo never comes on).
I must say, for the price I paid for it, I certainly expected it to last much longer than this. I have an old 2G iPod that is still going strong that I got before the Muvo.
    Is there any hope?

    Tlongacre,
Have you tried updating the firmware on your MuVo yet? If not follow these steps to get the firmware updated and see if the player starts working again.
) Go to www.nomadworld.com and select downloads/drivers. On the next page select your OS and then Nomad MuVo. Click "Get Files"
    2) Unplug the MuVo and Download and Run the Nomad MuVo Driver Update. Once the driver is installed, plug in the MuVo and let Windows detect and install new hardware.
    3) Unplug the MuVo and plug it back in while holding down the play/pause button for 0 seconds. If Windows finds new hardware then let it automatically install it. Then download and run the Nomad MuVo Firmware Update located here: http://www.nomadworld.com/downloads/firmware/wma-muvo.asp?nProdID=437&sProd=NOMAD%20MuVo
    4) If it says that the data area is not initialized at any time press the ok button. Put a checkmark in the Format Data Area Button and then press start.
    5) When it is finished press close and unplug the MuVo.
Test the player and see if it starts working again.

  • Nomad muvo

Whenever I launch iTunes there's a Nomad Muvo icon in the left-hand "Source" pane. The problem is I've never owned a Nomad Muvo so I don't know how it came to appear in my iTunes. I can't eject it. I did a spotlight search for Nomad Muvo, but no luck. Any ideas??

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
If the icon is coloured blue then what you are seeing is someone else sharing their music with you on the local network.
If you don't wan to see this then go to iTunes Preferences Sharing and un tick Look for shared music.

  • Nomad MuVo and medisou

Hey, I have a Nomad MuVo 28mb player and I was downloading all of the updates (Dri'ves, fiemware etc...) but a few of the firmware DLs say I need Mediasource for it to work, where can I get this?

    Girlyum,
It is an update in the sense that it will update your version of Mediasource if you have it already installed. It will also install the full version if it isn't installed, so it will work either way.

  • Nomad MuVo prob

I have a Nomad MuVo 28mb portable and it worked fine up untill I just recently went to switch my playlist around spent a good 5 minutes erasing all my old songs and putting new ones on, only to find that when I fired it up...it was the old playlist again. I have tried going on 00 times now to format and erase and reapply new songs with no success and I came to the forum here looking for a post that met my needs but was unable to come across one. I tried downloading the new versions of the media source organizer with no effect. Other than this problem the product has been awesome I'd just like to hear new songs haha. Is there anyone who can point me in the direction of some help?
    Any help is much appreciated
    nisoas

    Nisoas,
Have you try updating the firmware? You can get the firmware from the download page.
    http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/
You will also need to get the latest driver from the same page in order to start the firmware update.

On Nomad MuVo 28mb, can it record the FM? Does it use a compact flash disk for extra storage?

    Elisats,
The MuVo 28MB does not support FM. It uses solid state memory that is built into the player itself and is not upgradable. If you are looking for a player with the ability to be upgraded with SD or MMC cards and FM tuner/recorder then I think the MuVo Sport C00 is the player for you:
