  • Need input on Nomad Muvo2 4GB, plea

    Hello all.
I am new to the mp3 world and have placed an order for the Nomad Muvo2 4GB--it is not too late to cancel. I have read as many reviews as possible (cnet, amazon, consumer reports, etc.). Overall, the reviews appear to be fairly positi've. But, I have a few questions because a few trends have surfaced in my reading.
    # - Does this player suffer from the headphone jack nightmare other Creative products have?
#2 - Does the hard dri've actually produce clicking sounds during use--and is it a glitch?
#3 - Is this mp3 player prone to problems that surface right around the 90-day warranty?
#4 - Can this mp3 player be used during exercise (ie jogging) without adversely affecting its performance?
#5 - Should I consider another model (or maker)? My budget is very limited, though. I found the Muvo2 for $09; I can't afford to go much higher.
Thanks for any input you might provide.

I've had the Muvo2 for about 6 months now and have used it regularly and I have to say it works great! In answer to your questions ....
) No, I've never had a problem with the headphone jack. It works fine with no clicking or popping.
    2) The hardri've you can only hear a slight clicking in a dead silent room and it's only when it starts up. While it's running, you can't hear it at all.
    3) Again, I've had it 6 month without so much as a glitch. No freeze ups, nothing.
    4) I use it during my workouts at the gym but I only use an ellipse machine or a stair climber ... in addition to lifting weights. None of those exercises will jar it much. I'm not sure how it would fare using it to jog but in general, a flash player would be much better suited for jogging. Problem is, on your $00, give or take a few bucks budget, you'll probably only be getting about a 256mb player.
    5) Again, I think I answered your question above. You pretty much get what you pay for and if you have an extensi've library of music, you'll definitely need a hard dri've based player. If you don't have a lot of music and you're willing to listen to an FM radio some of the time, there are a few of them out there. Not only from Creative, but from iri'ver, rca, etc.
I would definitely recommend this player though because it sounds great and has an FM radio.
    Hope this helped!

  • Nomad Muvo2 fm (5GB) should I buy

I'm thinking of getting the Nomad muvo2 fm (5GB) I know it's a older model but its stats still shape up pretty well. Can any one give me reasons not to buy it's Or if they have had problems with them.
I'm worried about buying the Zen Micro because of the problem with jack.

I generally hear good things about the MuVo?, there are of course some players that have had problems like any player.

  • Unrecognized mp3 pla

Hello, this is the first time on the board and I have a very taxking problem. To start I am running windows xp svc pak3. 3.2mhz 2.5gb of memory, 300gm hard dri've with 65% free and a second hd of 250gb. I have plenty of speed and memory.
I have a Creative ZEN Xtra, NOMAD Jukebox 40gb mp3 player.
Everything started when I tried to syncronize my mp3 player with my (NEW) computer. I forgot to put the Jukebox program on the computer. Then could not find the original disk. I went online and downloaded the updated firmware and software, then connected the mp3 player to the computer. Windows xp recognized the mp3 player but the Creative Organizer did not detect the mp3 player.
I tried following instructions to upgrade the firmware, which I believe I did ok, but Creative software still did not recognize the mp3 player.
Then I screwed up! The only window I had on the mp3 player was the "Rescue Mode" so I tried (one at a time) the different options. . Clean up, 2. Format All, 3. Reload OS and 4. Reboot. So the music is gone (I have it on the computer though) and no matter what I do I can not get the Creative Program to detect the mp3 player. When I connect it to the computer, windows recognizes it and wants to know if I want to syncronize.
When I turn the MP3 player on (not connected to the computer) I get on screen that goes away to fast for me to read it, and then goes to the Rescue Mode window. When I connect it to the computer? the Rescue Mode window changes to an icon indicating that there is data being passed between the mp3 player and the computer.
Another bit on info, Creative tech support has been trying to help, by haveing me? download firmware and mp3 recovery tools, but unless the mp3 recovery tool program can recognized my mp3 player it is no use.
Now does anyone have any ideas, and does anyone know of a reputable repair shop for this mp3 player (preferably in the Dallas/Ft Worth TX area).
    Thanks
    Richard

You have used the player on this computer before? When did you install service pak3. I believe that may be your problem? Check to see if WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER is installed on the new one. If you have access to a different computer running Xp Service Pak2 it will be easier to remedy the problem. What firmware was on the player prior to the problem & are you SURE you got the correct driver from the website as it is not as easy as going to the page & finding your player. (Down in the bottom right of the page for your player there is a box that says Manual Selection with 3 drop boxes ) you choose you O.S 2)Language 3)all or firmware ,drivers ,app. then Submit. If you didn't go through those steps before downloading you Don't have all you needed.)http://forums.creative.com/creativel...id=6893#M28836Just so you know the new service pack is diffently an issue read this thread in order for you to updater the firmware one ket thing is you need service pack2 and the driver and had you EVER updated the firmware prior or was it the original.

  • Jukebox Zen--new laptop not reading MP3 pla

I bought a new laptop and it's got all the power I need. I installed the Zen software, and plugged in the MP3 player to the laptop to download the updates from this website, but the MP3 player is not reading the laptop and vice versa. The only thing that happens when I plug it in is the MP3 player goes on and plays music. How can I fix this?
Also, I downloaded some of the updates and a warning came up that I shouldn't download further b/c my O/S (Windows XP Home) may not be compatible with the program and could screw up my system. What now?

Try uninstalling all the MediaSource application and driver from the computer. Next go to the website and download the latest driver, MediaSource application and Nomad Pack. You will also need to install them as in the order above.
When installation of the driver, the player need not be connected but after you have finish installation of the driver, it will prompt you to connect the player and then follow which, you can install the MediaSource application and the Nomad Pack.

  • Mac MP3 Pla

Hi, I am looking for a mp3 player that runs under Mac OS.
Do you have any Creative Labs mp3 player that fulfils my only requirement?
    Thanks so much!

Nearly all of the Creative products will interface with the Mac OS by using a third-party software app called XNJB. The website is here:
    http://www.wentnet.com/projects/xnjb/
Also, some of the products behave simply like external USB dri'ves, where you can drag and drop mp3 files to them from any OS. I would check this board for MacOS and Linux questions for specific players:

  • Nomad Muvo2 1.5 GB Battery Prob

Hi. I bought a muvo2 .5 gb two days ago and here is my problem. When i tried to charge the battery the first time, it couldn't be fully charged. The charging symbol disappeared and now i can play it only 4 hours. What should i do?
    Sorry for lacking English

The first charge shouldn't matter that much, despite a lot of information to the contrary on the net (you can see at the famous BatteryUni'versity.com).
It might be that the battery is faulty, but you haven't said what type of files you are playing.
Best thing to do is fully charge the battery again, load and queue up some 28 kbit/s MP3 files, then play until the battery is flat. You should get around 4 hours play time.

    ps.
The bar for loading is full but nothing else continues, i cant even cancel it, so im forced to pull it out without ejecting it. I dont know what to do, everyone i've talked to just says to cleanup, scan and format it but it just says "Media Error". I need help.

Believe it or not, the first time I turned on my Muvo2 4gb it came up as "media error." I was so pissed. However, I fixed it by repeatedly taking out the battery and putting it back in, as the player reboots whenever you do that. Usually I had to do it for more than a few minutes. It eventually loads up though. Since then, I have gotten a frozen screen or media error about 6 more times, each time remedied in the same fashion. I suggest doing that. Don't give up. I've had the muvo2 for more than a year now, and it's still going.

  • Nomad MuVo2 4.0gb----HELP needed (plea

My 9 year old daughter received this mp3 player last year for christmas and I was wondering if there are any speaker systems or docking stations that go with it's Also, I am thinking about getting her a home shelf stereo system for christmas this year--can you some how hook the Nomad MuVo 4.0 up to it's If so, are there special cables needed?
Thank you for your help---I am slowly learning about this electronic stuff!!!

    Jason,
Thanks so much for replying. I was just thinking of buying my daughter some kind of stereo system around $00 for christmas. I just want to make sure that she will be able to hook up her Nomad and listen to the songs that she has on the nomad thru the stereo. I have no clue as to which system I will be buying but if you could tell me what I need to look for, that would be great. Audio in? Audio out? Got me!!
!! Any idea if Creative will be coming out with a docking station for this mp3 player?
    Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving,

  • Backing up the mp3 pla

Hello, may i know how do i back up my mp3s in my player, I spend a lot of time renaming the tags of the mp3s, i am really afraid of repeating this process again if anything goes wrong with my zen micro XD
    thanks!

loveandpeace: An alternati've is to simply transfer all tracks back to the PC with something like MediaSource. Firstly make sure you have the latest version by downloading the following:
. Creative Zen and Jukebox Driver Upgrade version .30.03
    2. Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2
    3. Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource
Install . then connect the player to the PC. Then install 2. and 3. (the player must be connected for 2. to verify you have a Creative product).
Have a look at the "backup" section of my Nomad Primer on how to configure MediaSource to best effect.

  • A few quick questions about my new MP3 pla

Ok, I like to get to know anything I buy so I decided to come here and ask, I hope you dont mind answering (My MP3 player is the MuVo c00):
) In the instruction manual it says that play WMA file reduce the battery life of your player. Since converting them reduces the size by a fair bit I was wondering if the reduced battery life was worth it and how much it reduces the battery life.
    2) When is a good time to replace the bettery in my player? Should I wait for it to completly die or what because I dont want to go replacing batteries 3 quarters full.
    3) Is there any sound or quality differences between MP3 format and WMA?
    4) Is the program that came with the player the best thing to add music with or would buying something else do the trick or even just copy and paste?
    5) Finally, how do you attach the neck strap? I dont see any place where it could go unless you have to attach it with the arm band on it.
Thanks for your help and I might have some more question but untill further notice this is all I have and again thaks for your time.

. You have to bear in mind this is for an equivalent MP3 e.g. a 28 kbit/s encoded WMA is going to use more power than a 28 kbit/s MP3. Normally WMAs are encoded at a lower rate anyway, hence will use less power. There are many factors that affect battery usage.
    2. Wait for it to go flat.
    3. Complex answer. In general WMA is used when you want more space and aren't so worried about quality, at the 64 - 28 kbit/s range. MP3s (using the LAME encoder) are better at the higher bit-rates of 92 kbit/s. The bottom line is try a few different bit-rates for both MP3 and WMA, take a listen, and decide for yourself.
    4. With the MuVo it's very easy, just use Windows Explorer to copy files. I wouldn't buy any other software, unless you find something you really like to create MP3/WMA files.
    5. Not sure on this one...

  • Some WMA files returning "invalid file" error when I try to transfer them to my MP3 pla

Hello! I'm having a new problem with my Zen Micro this week. I have been using Walmart.com's music download service for a year or so now and have never had a problem with their files. All of a sudden this week, 2/3rds of the files I have downloaded will not transfer to my MP3 player. When I try to import them, the Zen Micro returns an error saying they are "invalid" files. Some files transfer fine -- others give me this error. I talked to Walmart about this and they said it's a problem with my MP3 player. Does anybody know what might be causing this? Should I be trying an upgrade to my Media Explorer program, or something like that?
Thanks for any advice you can offer (and yes, I know Walmart is run by *******s, but at least they don't make me download a huge application before I can buy online music from them!).
    --Meg

I had similar problems with downloads before I upgraded to PlaysForSure. Even though in theory you don't need PlaysForSure for pay as you go downloads, in practice the complex rights built into the music mean that it is the only guarantee that downloaded music will play for sure and correctly on your player. I would recommend upgrading to PlaysForSure firmware from the 'downloads' section of this website (you need windows xp service pack 2 and windows media player 0 first). Make sure you back up your music if possible first as all content will be erased when you upgrade firmware. You will then need to download the software suite for PlaysForSure zen micros to get MediaSource and MediaExplorer.
