After upgrade iPod iPod Nano will not appear as a device on my Mac running Snow Leopard. What's up?

Can't Recognized iPod device after upgrading to iTune 7 / 7.0.1

After upgrading to iTune 7 (and later 7.0.1), my iPod Video 60G (firmware 1.2) has been having problems getting recognized by my desktop.
Symptoms:
- Device manager in Windows 2000 reports the device as an Unknown USB Device
- The iPod won't get recharged nor sync'ed.
- The "Do not disconnect" screen won't appear on the iPod.
- Since Windows can't recognize my iPod at all, of course I won't be able to see it in iTune.
I plugged the iPod to my Dell laptop and got it recognized and recharged properly though.
After poking around for a long time, I figured that if I disable the USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller on my desktop (thru the Device Manager), I can finally get the iPod recognized properly. Problem is, now it takes forever for me to sync my iPod (USB 2.0 disabled, so I'm stuck with the slow USB 1.1)...
I noticed that after upgrading to iTune 7, the display backlight on the iPod is kept on (though dim). If I remember correctly, on older versions of iTune, the backlight is completely off. I'm suspecting whether the extra current draw required by the dim backlight is screwing up my desktop USB....
Anybody from Apple gonna look into the issue and consider turning the backlight back to off in the next release??

I have no problems on my Dell laptop... I'm having problem with my 4-year old non-brand-name desktop only.
... which is kinda abnormally 'cause normally you would expect USB 2.0 power problems on laptops only. Btw, I've got the latest drivers installed already for the chipset and Win2K etc...
What's more interesting... is the fact that on older iPod firmware, everything was running just fine... upgrade to iTunes 7.0 and boom... I'm having problems. And, it's not recognized at the Windows USB device recognition level, so I think we can isolate the problem source to the iPod firmware upgrade.
Seriously... my bet is on the extra power drain from the backlight being left on during USB connection...
Guess i'll have to stick with slow USB until Apple has a new firmware...
This latest upgrade is generating a lot of unhappy customers...... and the sad thing is, Apple did a bad job in backward compatibility and made it extremely difficult to downgrade to an older version of iTune / firmware.... Apple better get these fixed asap...

Is old iPhone still usable as entertainment device after upgrading?

My wife and I both have iPhone 3G's that we're planning to upgrade to iPhone 4 units at the end of the month. Our kids are addicted to the devices as entertainment units.
After upgrading to iPhone 4, can we still use the 3G units just for playing games, etc? I.e. no phone service, just use it as a glorified iPod Touch? If so, anything special we need to know or do to prepare for the hand-off to the children?

Why would I take the SIM card out of the iPhone when I upgrade?
Not sure, but some people do thinking they have to.
The iPhone 4 uses a micro-SIM card, which is smaller than the SIM card used with your existing iPhone. The SIM card used with your existing iPhone can't be used with the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 will ship with a micro-SIM card pre-installed just as your existing iPhone shipped with a regular size SIM card pre-installed.
If your kids don't need internet access, you can leave Airplane mode enabled on the iPhones.
In case you decided to remove the SIM card for whatever reason is the reason why I included the part about having to have the no longer activated SIM card inserted in a no longer activated iPhone in order to install a firmware update when released, or to restore the iPhone with iTunes if wanted or needed.

Why does my iMac no longer recognize my external disk device after upgrading to Snow Leopard?

I've used an external hard drive for my Time Machine back-up for a few years. After I upgraded to Snow Leopard recently, the Time Machine delayed. When I tried to select a disk, my external drive no longer appears (it says "None"). The USB and power are all plugged in.

BB8800 - multiple calendars created on device after upgrading to 4.5

i recently upgraded to v4.5. after initial synchronization, there were 2 calendars on the device: "device default" and the on associated with my email address. i cannot get the events from the default calendar on the device over to microsoft outlook. thoughts?

Unknown Device after upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10

My Notebook is a HP 15 d002sl I just upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows10 and everything went fine. Now after installing all of the updated drivers I have an unknown device in my device manager. The Hardware Id's are as follows: ACPI\HPQ6001\2&DABA3FF&0 I can not find out what it is or a driver for it. Anyone else experiencing this or know what this device is and where I can get a driver for it. Much appreciated!

Can't launch any "non-Apple" apps after upgrade

After I upgraded my Iphone 4 to iOS 5 - I can't launch any non-Apple apps. They start to launch and then instantly die. Launching any of the default apps works fine though. Has anyone figured out a fix? This is horrible.

So WEIRDEST thing!!! I deleted/reinstalled facebook, and then tried an app that hadn't worked 20 minutes ago...... ALL my apps are working now! ***? well, sorta - my music is still missing...

My iPhone5 does not discover new bluetooth devices after upgrading to ios7.02

After I upgraded to ios7,02, my iphone5 connects only to one previous device only, my VW phone. It did not connect to my Logitec headset, nor other devices.
I tried forgetting both the devices, recycled power when iphone was in discovery mode.The iPhone5 still does not discover them.Is this a bug in 7.02 ?
Verified that all my devices are connecting fine with other phones.
Do any of you have the same problem ? Help !!!

- Move your iOS device closer to the Bluetooth accessory.
- Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if performance improves.
- Check for sources of potential interference and move both the iOS device and the Bluetooth accessory away from other electronic devices.
- Check that the Bluetooth accessory is using a profile that works with the iOS device.
- Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
- Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

Unable to locate external device after upgrade

i have been using FCE 2.0.3 and mac os 10.3 to view clips on video monitor (tv) easy set up was dv pal. so i chose view and and then firewire from the FCE menu to review clips on video monitor through my cannon mv750i-worked ok until recently. I have also been able to capture as well. Nothing wrong with the camera as it works ok in another computer (power pc) which has mac os 10.4.7 but fce is still 2.0.3. So is something i am not doing?
i then upgraded to mac os 10.4 and fce to 3.5 and easy set up also at same dv pal and a window message comes up informing me that "unable to locate external device" or you have changed system configurations. I have made sure that the camera is on. so please can someone tell me what i can do?

When I recently upgraded from OSX 10.3.9 to OSX 10.4.7 I found that FCE 3.0 would not recognise the camera.
When I upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.2 the problem immediately disappeared.

Pictures not appearing in after upgrade to SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP7 Patch4

Due to some issues in Advanced search we performed the service pack upgrade from SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP5 (with MDM 7.1.03.72) to SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP7 Patch4 ( MDM 7.1.04.146). With this new SP, the Pictures are not appearing anymore under the Hyperlink section anwhere in Catalog browser( Compare, Context view, Item details). With earlier SP pictures were appearing perfectly.
We have done like this:( refer earlier thread - Re: SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 Image display) thanks Sudhanshu, Jitesh and Mandeep for suggesting that solution!
Using the hyperlink field
type : rendered
MIME type : image type i.e. .jpg
URL : web URL
We had gone for this option because we dont want to store impages in MDM, and this worked perfoectly until new SP upgrade.
Any clues?

Hi Bala,
Nothing appears under the Hyperlink section in Catalog browser, though a valid link exists in Data Manager under Hyperlink as type-Rendered, MIME type as JPG and a valid URL.
I have searched Service Market place for this fix of this issue and found that SAP has improved the technology ( from Object Cache to Blob Cache) to display pictures/hyperlinks from SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP06 and MDM 7.1SP04 onwards. We were on SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP05 and MDM 7.1 SP03 before Dev upgrade.
Here are the notes for reference of others who get into same issue.
Note 1450593 - Implementation of BlobCache
This note states "MDM7.1 SP04 offers new image caching functionality called Blob Cache. The old functionality of Object Cache is replaced with the Blocb Cache mechanism in Catalog 3.0 SP06 P1"
Note 1505796 - Images not showing in SRM-MDM catalog (error in BlobCache)
This note talks about the issue in MDM API with Blob Cache. The Fix has been provided in SRM-MDM Catalog SP08 Patch 01.
But upgrade is not something that happens on the drop of a hat, we dont want to do another upgrade, I would like to know if there is a workaround.

Charts not appearing properly after upgrade

I have just upgraded from 10g to 11g, i see that all my charts are not displayed as they are in 10g. Like legend names are not appearing, for some charts the whole view is gone, for line bar graps bars are gone like this there are lots of issues in almost all the charts.
What could be the issue, do i have to manually go and correct all of them?
Any help would be apprecialted

Network drive appears empty after upgrade

I had my SuperDuper backup on one of two drives in a D-Link NAS. TM backs up to a third drive that isn't on the network - just an external drive here on the desk. I upgraded last week and everything... well everything went to ****, generally, but TM had been working just fine since the upgrade. Today, however, it suddenly went nuts. It was taking forever and sucking up huge resources, even webpages were loading terribly slow. I left it alone for about fifteen minutes, then tried to cancel it... then Finder stops responding. So I try to relaunch Finder, which closes just fine, but I get an error and Finder won't reload. So I reboot, which takes a good 7 minutes.
Okay, now the network problem: after all that, I can view the files on my one network drive - ironically, the one I don't care about - but my network drive with my SuperDuper sparseimage shows up as empty. I checked in terminal and also FTP. Totally blank. Even though TM backs up on a different drive. What's up? Any ideas? I'm leaving the network drive alone until I figure it out... I really need that sparseimage (during this same issue, TM corrupted the external, so I had to reformat it... so now my only backup is [maybe] on this network disk).
Argh. I should have waited a month or two before updating. Let someone else deal with the early adopter bugs.

With Offline Files disabled the contents of the mapped drive are visible and accessible. Unfortunately, Offline Files must be enabled for BranchCache to work.
Looking in the Event Viewer at “Applications and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\OfflineFiles\Operational” I can see that the mapped network drive transitioned to slow link during high latency but has never transitioned back.
