Non Apple email account on both MacBook Pro

I have the same non Apple email account on both my MacBook Pro (Mavericks) and iPad Air (ios 7.0.4).  The account functions fine on the MacBook, but recently started to mal function on my iPad.  I can receive emails on the iPad, but cannot send anything.  I get a message that my password is incorrect.  I have tried re-entering the password, but no luck.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the the problem?
Thanks.

The iPad's Mail app has no provisions for creating groups. However, you can use a third party app that many users recommend.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

I have two email accounts on my MacBook Pro and iPhone that I have been using for a few years.  My phone works perfectly for both accounts.  Now one of my email accounts on the MacBook says the outgoing server is Offline?  How can I fix that so that both accounts send and receive email.  I have tried various things in settings but nothing seems to work.

  • Now that iCloud has done away with galleries, how can we share as I did with MobileMe? How can we sync non-Apple email accounts across multiple computers?

Now that iCloud has done away with galleries, how can we share as I did with MobileMe? How can we sync non-Apple email accounts across multiple computers?

You will need to find a third party solution for online storage in order to share things like photos with others. Some popular solutions to this are dropbox and sugarsync.
You cannot sync non-iCloud email accounts across your iOS devices and computers unless they are IMAP accounts like iCloud. If they are IMAP accounts, you will do it in the same way as you have always done.

  • Mail password problem with non Apple email accounts

If I quit Mail for any reason and then start it up again, Mail asks for the passwords to each and every one of my non-Apple email accounts. It does it every time. It's been doing it since I restarted after the last security update. If I put the passwords in, everything works until the next time I relaunch Mail. Is anyone else having a similar problem, and does anyone know how to fix this?

Try this: go to the Keychain Access utility, select the Keychain First Aid command under the File menu, and have it verify the keychain. If it encounters any errors, have it repair them and verify again. If it then comes up clean, try Mail again. If it still isn't holding the password, go back to Keychain Access, go to Passwords -> Internet, locate the item for your e-mail account, and delete it. Then try Mail again, making sure you have the password(s) correctly set in Mail's Accounts preferences.
    Hope this helps.

Can I use a non Apple display with a new MacBook Pro?
    Special connections?

Only thing you need is a minidisplayport-to-? adapter ... plugs into Thunderbolt port.  ? is replaced by VGA or HDMI or DVI.
I have used high-quality brand names (LG, Samsung) that were picked because I liked the display and have had no issues.
I will add that some threads speak of issues with some Dell monitors that work spottily if at all.  But only from reading other threads.

What adapter(s) do I need to connect two DVI-D non-Apple monitors to new 13" MacBook Pro w/Retina?

A DVI-D to Mini-DisplayPort or DVI-D to Thunderbolt cable adaptor.

  • What's a good non-Apple monitor for my 13" MacBook Pro? Looking around 20-23 inches, preferably LED.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro and I'm in the market for a non-Apple monitor (Apple monitors are way out of my price range). I'm looking for 20-23 inch monitor, preferably LED. I need it to edit articles for publication and for Bar Exam studying in the next year. What brands have shown to have good compatibility with Mac? Do I need an adapter of some sort?

You'll need an adapter cable, and which one you need depends on what version MBP you have and the inputs on the monitor.
I just recently purchased a Dell U2410 to use as a second display with my iMac. Overall I'm pretty happy with but my use is a little different, I wanted something with very good color accuracy for photo work.  Based on what you said your needs are, you probably don't have to spend as much.
One thing I will say, is this particular monitor (and I believe all Dells) has an antiglare screen on it, which to be honest, took me a little getting used to.  Because of the matte surface, text and documents aren't quite as sharp and can even look a little hazy at times.  For your uses  you may be better off with a glossy screen as long as glare isn't going to be too much an issue for you.
BenQ makes some pretty nice and affordable monitors these days LED backlit or otherwise, and on that note, theres absolutely nothing at all wrong with non "LED" monitors, both technologies are still using an LCD panel for the display, they just deal with the backlighting differently.
As the other poster mentioned, NEC is always a good option as well.  Less common on the consumer side, but they make very good professional products.

  • How do I sync my non-apple email account settings (5 email addresses) with my ipad air using OS X Mavericks?

I recently acquired a new iPad air (first time ipad user) and while I am quite happy with icloud, I seem to be unable to sync all of my remaining email account settings (automatically) with apple mail under OS X Mavericks.
I simply want to use all of my email accounts, which are setup in Mail (on my imac) with my iPad without having to add them manually to my iPad. This used to be no problem with all previous versions of OS X. Email account settings could be synchronized using the respective tool located within the info tap in itunes.
    Are there any solutions?
Do I really have to add each and every email account now separately to all of my idevices???
    This is ridiculous!!!

Unfortunately there seems to be no practical solution. You will have to go through the hassle of setting up your accounts manually.
Strange enough though, when setting up my new macbook (clean install, no data migration) all e-mail accounts where setup automatically through icloud (yes, even my non-apple accounts).
I guess and this is a rough guess that this is supposed to work with all other idevices too.

  • Can icloud delete email from non-apple email accounts?

Just wondering if there is any way that icloud would be able to delete emails en masse from a non-apple/me/cloud email account. I seem to have no email prior to May 1 on an IMAP email account I have hosted elsewhere. Using Lion (of course) and the most current version of the Mail app and am referring to incoming email only.
    Thanks!
    Chris

"External" email accounts (e.g. google, yahoo, etc.) have no connection with iCloud.  You set up accounts for these email services in the mail program and can do the usual things with them (view emails, move to folders, delete, etc.) but they are in now way related to iCloud.

  • Change password on non-apple email account

My email account was hacked (it is not the Apple mail account).  How do I reset the password on gmail?

Try the forgot password reset tool provided by Gmail on their login page.  If the hacker has changed these items, you may have to call Google for verification to have the e-mail account reset.

  • How do I sync an IMAP non-Apple email account across devices?

At the moment, anything I do to my BT.Yahoo account on my iMac doesn't sync with my MBP or iPhone

If it is actually an IMAP account, and you have it set up as IMAP on all devices, it should sync without you needing to do anything. That's how IMAP works. However, if you have it set up as a POP account on just one of those devices, that will remove the messages from the server, screwing up access for the other devices.

  • What is best non-apple display for 15 inch macbook pro with retina display?

I am looking for a good and reasonably priced monitor to use with my MBP retina.  I prefer one that rotates 90 degrees for portrait viewing. Any suggestions?
What adapter is needed to get good quality?  Is the dual link adapter worth $100?  Is it very much clearer than DVI?  How does the HDMI connection compare?  I've heard that HDMI only works as an external display in clamshell mode (computer closed).  Does HDMI transmit sound and video or would I need two cords?
    Thanks for any help!

The dual-link adapter is needed only for resolutions over 1920 x 1200.  It won't improve the picture of lower resolution displays.
HDMI carries audio and video (up tp 1920 x 1200).
DVI (single or dual-link) is video only.
Mini DisplayPort (or DisplayPort with an adapter cable) is audio and video (up to 2560 x 1600).
All will give the same picture quality.

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
Then click the plus button to add the new account and follow the prompts
