Non-beta audigy drivers with OpenAL support. Wh

Is there going to be any official drivers for the audigy that supports OpenAL? The beta drivers have been out for over three months. I have had a lot of problems with audigy drivers before so I don't want to risk installing beta drivers. The latest official drivers are from March 2004 so it almost seems like the audigy drivers aren't updated any longer.

They say beta since they don't run some of the software like EAX Console, Speaker Settings, etc. But the new Audio Console gives you all the settings for the stuff that the beta driver won't play nicely with.
They are WHQL Microsoft certified. So they are really final's. It's possible that no final version may ever be issued, just maybe more beta's, since Creative probably doesn't want to deal with masses of folks complaining about some of the older software not running anymore. But they are final drivers and completely safe. Just uninstall the older drivers, install the new ones, then install the Audio Console. Surround Mixer, Soundfonts, the Volume Control, the EAX Control and Device Settings in AudioHQ will all work. But I would make a shortcut to Audio Console as you really will only need that and the Surround Mixer to control what you used to need all that resource hogging pretty GUI software for.
If you already have the Audio Console installed I would uninstall that before you remove the old drivers and reinstall it after the new drivers are installed.
The new MediaSource stuff all works with the new driver too.
If you want this all in 2 packages (the Audigy 4 Pro UPax tweaked cd and the Creative beta driver tweaked to work with it) you can read the audio threads at driverheaven.net. Uninstall everything Creative. Then you uncheck Windows Drivers and Audio Console in the Audigy 4 cd install and after rebooting install the UPax Creative driver mod, reboot, install the Audigy Entertainment Center update only if using a Platinum breakout box, then install the latest official Creative Audio Console.
So you have several options. I still use only the official non beta Creative stuff since I'm not using any of the newer OpenAL games. I've read that the newer beta's improve the sound somewhat, but everything sounds great as it is.

  • How do I install the new "unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support" driver?

Hey guys, I'm going to reformat later today and I need instructions on how to install these latest drivers.
    Once I reformat, I will install Windows 2000 SP4.
When I reboot, I will insert the CD that came with my Audigy 2 and I will select "Custom Install" and I will select to install everything EXCEPT the driver.
Then when I have installed all the Creative software from the CD that came with my Audigy 2, I will reboot.
Now I will install the "unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support" driver and then reboot.
Is that the correct procedure? If not PLEASE tell me!

My game music always (now I've asked for it!!!) seems to work; have you tried disabling cthelper in your config as that seems to ?$!&^ everything up; on my system it was causing crashes and also meant my system was taking 0 minutes to shut down!
And while we're at it, maybe someone from Creative could expand on the really useful info the guys above have given (thanks guys!).
Oh yeah, one last suggestion for Creative; maybe make the installation of "cthelper" optional in the installation program and/or have a check box in the Creative config software to turn it on off with an explanation as to why people may want to do this (ie may cause problems on some systems)...

Why in the world would a person use 2 soundcards makes no sense to me .Onboard sound is crap i have never liked it ......,boards should come empty no network? card or audio because that crap they use on the motherboard is a crap . I have all that crap on my board disabled because i have a fibre home network . I see no use for copper either the cable companys should all go fibre they don't want the initial cost because they are cheap .Fibre will last alot longer than copper .We arein the year 2009 not the 70's come on .

  • Beta driver Audigy 2 series with OpenAL support probl

Mentioned it in another post, but is perhaps interesting for more ppl out there.
My experience with the beta driver from 05 April 05, xp pro & audigy 2: enormous performance drops with doom3 (with patch), bf942, bfv, far cry, riddick, hl2, cs:s.
with Rightmark 3D Sound v.2 i got bluescreens (using xp pro since ,5 years, never had bluescreens before. honest!).
Rightmark normally uses up 90-95% of cpu-time, but moving pos-slider of the audiospot is smooth. with sound hardware and eax version 2/3/4 enabled it consumes 00% cpu-time and creates bluescreens after a few moments (repetiti've). its a major performance hog...
btw: cubase does not like the driver, too. neither does Buzz.
oh, almost forgot: i followed the install-instructions of the beta driver word by word. 2nd test was a install over the old driver; same result.
    any opinions/suggestions?

If beta is so good, I wonder how will the final look like

  • Quick ALchemy + Non BETA drivers question... for C

Hello,?I've been reading posts in this forum for the last two days... Wow... so much info!?Anyway, from what I've gathered so far (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the situation is as follows:
Official (non-BETA) drivers should be available for Vista sometime in March, these drivers should include all functionality (previously available in XP), including EAX, through the ASIO or OpenAL stacks, right?<So any game that boast EAX and uses the OpenAL/ASIO stack will work faultlessly, right?<
Meanwhile, old games that use DirectSound3D will only work with the ALchemy wrapper (that simulates a DirectSound HAL), correct?<
Assuming the above is all correct, does Creative plan to release the ALchemy wrapper with their official (non-BETA) driver? This would be great as then the new driver would (theoretically) support any EAX game (DirectSound or OpenAL)...
    Thanks in advance.

    g26,
I don't have any more information for everyone on what else will be included in the driver at the moment. As far as EAX goes, if a game is OpenAL it should be fine, OpenAL still works and hasn't been removed. Games with EAX that use DirectSound 3D will have to go through ALchemy instead, because of the changes in the OS. At the moment ALchemy is beta as well but keep an eye on the forums and the preview page for more updates on that. When there is more news on ALchemy I'll try to add it to the FAQ thread for that too.

  • Can only use the card with Web Update drivers with Audigy

If I try installing any apps that came with my Audigy 2 ZS I get the constant popping noise. I read the troubleshooting help but nothing hel
    ps.
Only thing I didn't do is the ACPI thing because I don't wanna mess with my install and I don't believe I should have to go through such troubles to make a sound card work.
Now the only way for me to not have these problems is when I install only the latest Web Update. But then, in BF:V if I select EAX or 2 it tells me unable to set sound provider so it seems I need the Creative apps (even though they're memory hogs )to have EAX in games. But even worse then the memory issue is that popping immediatelly comes back. So what can be doing it's Why is it that with only web update it works without any troubles but with creative apps it doesn't. Seeing as how it works with only web update I think it's safe to eliminiate any problems such as sound card being too close to video card or irq conflicts (none) or electrical interference with drivers right?
I'm open to your suggestions. Thanks.

Since no setup information available, I can only ask have you already played with next settings:
    - DirectSound vs MME
    - control panel/sounds and muldimedia/audio.performance
    - control panel/System/Advanced/performance options: optimize for applications vs background services
    - changed PCI latency settings
    - fixed possible IRQ sharings
    - defragmented your HD's
ACPI/APIC should be ON. Changing to StandardPC would be the worst you can do.

  • Audigy 2 ZS - OpenAL Drivers - Gam

When will a non-beta driver come out for OpenAL? The beta driver works great for gaming for me, but I can't use my CMSS. Will there every be an OpenAL driver that allows full function of the card and its features just like the non-OpenAL driver?

You mentioned mics (several I suppose).
Audigy 2 Zs Notebook does have only one mono microphone input shared w/ analog line-in and S/PDIF (a multi-purpose input 'port' called FlexiJack).
As a PCMCIA audio device, I suggest you to get E-MU 66 or 66M instead of SB Audigy 2 Zs Notebook.
There are also plenty of USB and FireWire audio interfaces available you can use w/ laptop.

Any1 into this ? Are we getting native ASIO and OpenAL support ? More features, more bugs ?
    regards,
    Andy XS

I've been asking for working OpenAL drivers ever since the 1.13's came out. The DLL's are included, but as you noticed they aren't installed with the install routine.  :O
Manual installation doesn't work either.  X(
I would like to get them working since I play UT 2003 and OpenAL is the native audio codec in this game. It might also alleviate the BKSODs in some DX games.

  • Hello, starting with today I have a strange problem: all events are correctly shown in the finder but in FCP-X there`s`none and every time I open it creates a new event. What is wrong?

Hello, starting with today I have a strange problem with Final Cut Pro X: all events are correctly shown in the finder but in FCP-X there`s`none and every time I open it creates a new event. What is wrong?

    Here`s the screenshot.
    But anyway:
The drive is Makintosh HD from my Macbook and it is shown in the event mediathek and in the projects. Since I`ve recognized this problem I installed FCPX again and consequently the event and project directory created by FCPX is where it should be and it shows all the test events including it`s files.
So what happens? Opening FCPX you see only one event and that a new empty event. All previous events are not shown there even if you can see them in the finder. So if you import again the clips they are in this new event library. After closing correctly FCPX and reopening there again is nothing than an new and empty event. What it does is that it recognized that i.e. there are events with previous numbers and so it creates an new one with the next available counting number.
If you want to open one event from the finder it by clicking to the file it opens FCPX but it says it cannot open the clicked file.

  • AIR 3.4 SDK Beta with iOS6 Support is missing BETA 2 update

We are trying to get our application that uses native extensions working with iO6 and AIR 3.4.  I can see from the website that there was an update on August 7th, and the top links show that update in the link date:
    Ie: http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/flashplatformruntimes/air3-4/air3-4_p2_sdk_mac_080712.tbz2
However the links under “AIR 3.4 SDK Beta with iOS6 Support”, have  not been updated.  (And that is oviously the build we are most interested in)
    http://labsdownload.adobe.com/pub/labs/flashplatformruntimes/air3-4/air3-4_p1_sdk_ios6_mac _071612.tbz2

So I found the problem.   I had installed beta 1 in a folder called AIR 3.4     ...   I installed beta 2 in a folder called  AIR 3.4 Beta2
I did however point Flash CS6 to use the AIR 3.4 Beta2 SDK ...    it must not like something about this.   Once I deleted both SDK's and then put Beta 2 in a folder simply titled AIR 3.4 everything works again.

  • Air 3.9 beta  - update app with final ( non beta ) version?

I used Air 3.9 beta when i published on the app store, can i update with the  final ( non beta ) version?

You can, but you usually don’t need to. When you have other reasons to do an update, just use a later version of AIR at that time.

  • I have Audigy 2 with windows 7 64bit help

HI I am confused on what to use for packages ,should I use daniel's package or Pax latest? If I use Pax latest can I use a equalizer with it'sThks

    Hi,
I would install Daniel K's one first, since according my own experience it works the best, especially when you are also going to play a lot of games on the computer (this driver does support EAX HD). I guess Daniel K's driverpack is more like an all-rounder driverpack for users with an Audigy soundcard, and want more features and applications such as surround mixer, EQ synthesizers, EAX console etc., rather than using the generic Creative Labs' driver with the Audio console only. But Daniel K's driverpack is kind of annoying? to uninstall or reinstall, since when you want to reinstall the driverpack for one of another reason, you have to uninstall the applications first one by one. Daniel K has chosen to make separate installers for every applications (EAX console, surround mixer, EQ etc.). All in all Daniel K's driver pack is pretty good, despite some flaws besides the one I just said, it didn't fix the >4 GB memory issues for x64 OSes for example (well, Daniel K can't since when he did he would be sued for touching the "internals" of the CL drivers. Anyway, it's recommended to install the latest 3.8 Audigy driverpack for best performance and stability.
As for the new PAX driverpack, I haven't use it myself, although I had used the older ones which were (when they are still called Youp-pax drivers) written by other people in order to mod my Audigy 2 into Audigy 4 and it worked pretty good. Well, according Daniel K you shouldn't install the new PAX drivers because you would only get placebo-effects that it works/sounds better. But I don't know it myself, since I haven't used the PAX drivers. Perhaps some other members have more experience with it.
I am currently using the latest beta kX-driver for my Audigy 2 and am still learning how the kX-driver really works; it feels like I am using a new soundcard, since everything is different because the kX-driver, and it really make your soundcard sounds a lot better. The kX-drivers are not written by Creative Labs, but by several people from the homebrew scene and these drivers are open-sourced. The creators do explain e.g. why the kX-driver will make your soundcard sounds better. They know and understand the internal of the emu0kx chipsets and are writing the driver from scratch.
The latest kX-driver has no issues with PC systems with more than 4 GB system memory in Windows Vista and 7 x64 (yes, you hear it correctly, the 4 GB limit is fixable, it's more like whether someone wanted to fix it or not) and it's also alot smaller too (I experience a faster boot time of my Windows 7 x64 myself!), but it's a bit tricky to use it, since, as I have already said, everything work differently with this kX-driver. And for people who work a lot with music and do a lot of recordings, the kX-driver is the driver for your Soundblaster Li've, Audigy , 2 (ZS) and/or 4 (only genuine emu0kx chipsets are supported; no support for X-fi though. Although the kX-drivers are not meant for gaming, I can play games on my PC with the kX-driver installed without serious issues, but you will lost? the Alchemy support for EAX enabled games. So, people, if you have 4 GB memory or more onboard and are having issues, then try out the kX-driver with the > 4 GB fix.
