Non-comp science related benefits of being a good game programmer.

Hi guys. Does being a good game programmer crossover into being good in other areas? If you're majoring in discrete mathematics, then you've already fashioned your mind to handle deep logical thinking. Good game programmer can roll over into good physicist, mathematician, or even chemist. I guess being a good programmer in general would help you in anything where you have to solve large problems and break them down, like complicated physics problems, cause and effect problems, and advanced mathematical analysis.

There are many fields that good programmers can otherwise excell in. Sadly, higher level mathematics isn't necessarily one of them.
All good programmers, especially game programmers, have a few things in common. They're creative, disciplined, focused, persistent, good at analytical/logical thinking, capable of recognizing why a specific problem is a problem, determining the best solution, and capable of seeing both the big picture and the little details. They also get used to expressing ideas in unconventional and unorthodox "languages".
These traits are more useful to engineering disciplines than mathematics. Some of these attributes do carry over to math, yes, but the skill set is closer to engineering.
Some of the best computer scientists I know also build things - the guy in the next cubicle is building an plane from a kit in his garage, some guys down the halls have full home workshops and have built things ranging from decks to furniture, and I'm sure you know of a programmer who enjoys tinkering with his car or tweaking his sound system.

Dopo il messaggio chiudo Photoshop e al riavvio tutto funziona per un po', poi il problema si ripresenta.
AIUTOOOOOO!!!! (possibilmente in italiano).

A couple of things to try
1) Reset the preferences by holding down alt-ctrl-shift on windows or cmd-opt-shift on mac when you start photoshop. It will ask if you want to reset the preferences.
2) Uninstall photoshop restart your computer then install photoshop.
One or the other should take care of it, if not let us know.

How do I eject (or get out somehow) a mini cd I slid into my MacBook Pro CD slot (rather stupidly not thinking about its small size not being a good fit)?

How do I eject (or get out somehow) a mini cd (3" size) which I slid into my MacBook Pro's CD slot? (Rather stupidly, I admit, not thinking about its small size keeping it from being a good fit.) And of course, it didn't seat on the cd's spindle, and thus is not being "seen" by the computer as being present when I press the eject button, so nothing happens. Because the CD slot has a membrane covering the slot, I can't see in to locate where it is or to try and slip it out manually, either.

Thanks for your suggestion, although it didn't work for me. The one that did suggested inserting a sticky note - sticky side down to catch the disk - and slowly pulling it out. I was dubious, but it worked just like magic!

Not able to update single file in a non ejb Module related jar

Hey all,
I have depoyed my j2ee application .ear on NW webAS .
 This application apart from having all the ejb Modules related jar, also has a jar which has all my properties files being accessed by my application.
Very often is it required by me to update these files and restart the application. However i couldnot find a way to update these single files.
When i select by deployed application.ear and click Single File Update feature provided by SAP in visual Admin, it shown only ejb modulerelated jar. It dosent show my jar containing properties file.
I have to redeploy my application again everytime i change a small properties file.
Please let me if there is a way to update these sngle files

Instead of the move statement you need to use the append work area to internal table statement. you need to have the same structure for the work area and the internal tbale.
Then use the modify data base table from internal table statement.

None of Blue tooth devices are being detected by my iPad

My iPad won't detect any bluetooth device. It keeps on looking and looking but will not detecte while the same device will be detected by my iPhone 4 and iPhone3.
I have tried 3 Hands free blue tooth devices but none is being detected. iPad won't even detect the iPhone 4 sitting next to it.

Many headsets use the Hands Free Profile (HFP) which is not supported by the iPad but is supported by the iPhone. On the iPad you can connect to devices that uses the A@DP profile which support stereo headphones and some headsets and speakers, keyboards via the HID profiles and some other devises for gaming. Since around fall of 2013, I've had to call a HOUND the phone lines just to get my non-Best Buy purchase points credited. ...
In the latest SAGA, thier response was 832 points for EIGHT months worth on non Best Buy purchases when I literaly ran THOUSANDS through the card in that time span. ... Say WHAT ? They are having me EMAIL pictures of my statements becuase evidenataly they can't download PDF files? In response, I converted PDF to JPG & put a picture of EACH month in a SEPARATE email & sent it back to them, but I've seen another fellow get his issue handled quite qucikly by using this forum. I have to wait weeks, or days just to get a half hearted email response.

None of the cross tabs are being exported to Excel

Hi All,
I am experiencing a strange problem of export failing when any of the cross tab is exported. It comes out with a message,
"An error occurred while trying to export the Worksheet.
(Export failed.) "
This is occuring in Plus and Viewer.
But All the tables are being exported without any problem.
Any Idea ???

Only iTunes purchases may copy over via File > Transfer Purchases - otherwise syncing is one way, from the computer to the device. To get the rest of your music/films etc onto the new computer you can copy the backup from your old computer onto the new one and then load them into iTunes

Content has expired error - NOT related to time being off on servers??

Recently I had a site (with publishing turned on) where the top navigation and quick launch disappeared showing the content had expired error. I have triple checked the server time settings, as well as the web application time settings. I verified
with our AD guy that our time is the same. This was only happening on one site but now I see it on a different site collection sub site.
I am weak when it comes to development so I am at a brick wall. I was hoping someone could tell me or have some suggestions as to what the problem could be.

Hi,
As you said, the error only occurs in some sites, so other sites in the same site collections are all ok?
If other sites are all ok, then please check that whether the issued sites has been modified with some unique customization.
According to the error message, a common solution is to update your web applications' time zone to match that of your SharePoint servers, then IIS reset is also required on each server in the farm.

I have 3G I Phone and just got new pc. Have run sync in I tunes but none of the songs, etc are being transferred from the Phone to the new computer. How does one accomplish this?

Only iTunes purchases may copy over via File > Transfer Purchases - otherwise syncing is one way, from the computer to the device. To get the rest of your music/films etc onto the new computer you can copy the backup from your old computer onto the new one and then load them into iTunes

Non Stock Material related

In our company we do not create masterial master of Non Stock Material. If I create Sales Order for suppose 20 chairs, it doesnt pick pricing procedure. More over the quantity field also goes blank every time the order is created.Can i also create invoice for this. Pleasae guide.

why pricing procedure is not determining when its maintained in OVKK for this document type,customer and sales area?
- Sales Area (determines from Sold-to Party Sales Area)
- Documnet Pricing Procedure (determines from Sales Doc Type in VOV8)
- Customer Pricing Procedure (Customer Master - Sold--to Party - Sales Tab)
whether we can run a sales cycle for a material with no Material Master
No, we can't run a SD process cycle for Non Stock Material without Material Master.
If you want to have SD process cycle without creating Materaial master then you can use Text item (TATX)
Normally, we don't create a material master these kind of item.
So, if you enter a material in the Sales Order just with description without giving the material number, then system will determine material with Text item (TATX)
Make sure the system have following kind of item cat determination for Item Cat TATX for your order type in VOV4

Item Cat Group
Usage
High level Item
OR

None of my Ipod's are being picked up by my computer

My son received a new I-pod touch and when I went to sync it up, my computer is no longer picking up any of our I-pod products. I have checked the Apple Mobile Device Support and gone through the process of restarting it. My daughter's I touch shows up as a camera but nothing else is working. Any ideas?

Been through all of that already. Whenever I plug in one of the the I-touch's, I get this from my computer:
"Found New Hardware Wizard" and it takes me through the process of adding software to dowload photos. Still no I-touch's show up though.

ITunes & non-MP3 album-related files

My current music library is sorted into separate folders for each album. In addition to the MP3s, many of these folders also contain other files with additional art, text files, playlists, pdfs, etc.
iTunes leaves these other files behind if I place the album folder in the "Automatically import into iTunes" folder.
If I let iTunes manage my folder structure, how will it handle these additional files? Will iTunes move these additional files with the MP3s as it re-organizes them, or mangle everything?

iTunes organization does not do anything with "other" files that may be in the folder with the songs. If you want to keep them together, do not use the "Keep files organized" feature nor the "Automatically Add" folder. Rather, put the folder where you want it, and then add the files to your iTunes library.

Audigy LS - Not being recognized by gam

I have Windows XP, SP2 with Direct X 9c installed.
There is integrated sound (AC 97) on the motherboard, but I disabled it in the BIOS settings of the board. BUT... I am getting distorted sounds in many games (Dawn of War for example) and all games that support the much vaunted EAX for this card (like ALL Lucasarts games) treat my system as not having EAX. When I do a system scan from Knights of the Old Republic it does NOT detect the Audigy LS, but for some reason thinks that the AC 97 is still there...
Current drivers for the LS are installed. - Have even UNINSTALLED and reinstalled them.
Any ideas?
Unfortunately my motherboard manual is really less than helpful in general. The only setting I can find for the integrated card is set to disabled, so I really do think it is.
Could there be a DRIVER that could be conflicting?
I had also noticed a post from someone else with DirectX 9c and Battlefronts ( a Lucasarts game) on this boards, something about the card no longer being recognized... is there an issue with the creative line and DirectX 9c? I see the card when I do a DXDIAG and no AC 97 there...
