Non compatible iMac - why?

I've just tried to upgrade to Mavericks but have been told my iMac does not meet the requiremets. The only clue is 'To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs: iMac (Mid-2007 or later)' which I have. It also meets the other requirements:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed (I'm currently running 10.6.8)
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
Any ideas why it won't work? Can I get it to install by another means?
Hardware Overview:
  Model Name:          iMac
  Model Identifier:          iMac6,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
  Processor Speed:          2.16 GHz
  Number Of Processors:          1
  Total Number Of Cores:          2
  L2 Cache:          4 MB
  Memory:          2 GB
  Bus Speed:          667 MHz
  Boot ROM Version:          IM61.0093.B07
  SMC Version (system):          1.10f3
  Serial Number (system):          W872820****
  Hardware UUID:          00000000-0000-1000-8000-0019E345****
It would be helpful if Apple would specify which Model Identifier wasn't compatible, rather than a rough date range.

Go to the Apple Logo in the menu bar and select About this Mac. Once that opens click the More Info button and you will see the exact model year listed. It will say Early, Mid, or Late and then the year. If it doesn't say Mid or Late 2007 then you have an earlier model that does not quailfy. Also 2GB of RAM is the bare minimum and if you are upgrading from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 then your system will run ungodly SLOW.

  • Non-compatible mode Nokia 515

    Heyhey,
how do I get out of file transfer mode when I connect my Nokia 515 to pc using a USB cable?
It says it's connected in non-compatible mode.
What I am trying to do is: update the software. I'm using the dual-sim version.
Wireless update is impossible, my mobile internet and 3G both work, but when I ask my phone to download software it says I have no network connection. That's why I tried connecting it, I installed Nokia Suite, which is incompatible, Nokia Software Recovery Tool, which is incompatible, Nokia Software Updater, which is incompatible, so now I'm trying Nokia PC Suite, which says the phone is connected in non-compatible mode, which is slightly better.
Does anyone know how to update it? it's on versino 09.04, it's Nokia 515.2, and RM-952.
This phone is outrageously expensive for a feature phone, thank god for the battery life and build quality, and even the camera is okay. It's disgusting that this lowest-tier bug-filled software is put on it (haven't installed a single downloaded app, yet it crashes every now and then while writing or receiving texts). Now I simply want to update it.
If anyone is able to help me, I hope they'll feel the most wonderful person in the world for at least a week, because that is what they'll be to me.
I am very good at following step-by-step solutions.

Okay, I solved the non-compatible mode thing! Because I'm a nice guy, I'm gonna tell how I did it, not like the guys on the other hundreds of forums I visited who just said "solved it ".
I had to connect as a modem, then windows looked for a whole bunch of drivers, and apparently one of the drivers it needed for modem connection is also helping the compatibility with normal pc suite connection.
Now, it also worked for the nokia software updater, but it said that the device is not supported as well.
I wonder if it also displays that message when there's no update available? On the site it says updates are into version 10, and I'm still into 9, but maybe there's still regions that still have what I have? I bought it on german amazon and am using it in Belgium (First World Country, yet it is not sold here?) The search for updates continues.

  • Will using "non-compatible" accessories harm the iPhone?

So I was in a Best Buy tonight and I was picking up an awesome little Sony boombox that has a CD player and a iPod dock, so inevitably I tried to see if it would work with the iPhone and it gave me the predictable "not-compatible - do you want to turn on airplane interference..." and I chose "no" but the stereo did work with the iPhone past that error message, I could play audio and it was charging the iPhone and worked fine.
When I was buying it I mentioned to the clerk that it was for an iPhone 3G and he warned me against getting it because his iPhone had been on a "non-compatible" speaker dock for iPod and it burned out his screen and overpowered the iPhone. He claimed he took it to the Apple store and they said it was a power surge issue and the warranty would not cover it.
So...I bought the Sony stereo anyways because it has a line-in also, anyone know if there is truth to this that the "non-compatible" accessories can harm the iPhone 3G?
If they could why does the error message not explicitly say so, it just says it won't work but nothing about users could void their warranty if they try.

No, all that warning means is that you may get GSM interference from the phone (a loud an obnoxious noise through the accessories speakers). The accessory *will not* cause any physical harm to the iPhone.

  • Non-Compatible USB Connection For Nokia 6263

I'm unable to connect my Nokia 6263 using the PC Suite Application, why?

I alss have exactly the same problem. The error message says - "Nokia XpressMusic 5800 connected in a non compatible USB mode". So it does not connect with the computer. Yet its fine on my laptop and I'm able to connect succesfully. So why is it OK on the laptop but not on the Desktop? Both O/S are Win Vista Home Premium and are up to date with service packs etc/.

  • Transferring from old non intel iMac to new intel iMac

I have a non intel iMac with 10.5.8 and no 800 Firewire. I have just purchased a new iMac with Snow Leopard and of course, no 400 firewire. The wrong adapter (400 to 800) was sent with the machine. The setup instructions said I could use ethernet after installing a "Setup Program" on the old Mac that was included on the new Mac's disk. When I tried to install the program, it wouldn't install as I did not have 10.6 on the old computer.
Please tell me the best way to set up this new computer: using the ethernet cable and migration assistant, or wait and get the correct adapter and use a firewire cable to transfer. I have not set up the new computer; it is just sitting right now.
    Many thanks.

You're probably referring to the section of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3231
in the first point under *Starting your migration:*
"Always ensure that the computer you are migrating from is updated with the latest releases of Apple Software. Determine if your computer is up-to-date by going to the Apple menu and selecting Software Update. Apply all the latest updates, including the Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update, before you start your migration."
The Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update link is to this: http://support.apple.com/downloads/Migrationand_DVD_and_CD_SharingUpdate
Which also refers to this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3174
As I read that, it seems to indicate that it's only needed on 10.5.5, so it may not apply to your 10.5.8 Mac.
Try using +Setup Assistant+ anyway -- it may work.
See How do I set up a new Mac from my old Mac or its backups? or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Snow Leopard > Installation and Setup+ forum, for more info and step-by-step instructions.
If you've already set up a user account on the new Mac, you'd have to erase the internal HD and reinstall OSX to use Setup Assistant.
Or, use the similar +Migration Assistant+ per the pink box in the link above. Just note that you can't be logged on to the new Mac with an account that has the same name as any on the old one -- see the last window there.

  • E71x Connected in non-compatible mode

    Brand new E71x
    Vista - 4GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 512MB Video
    Nokia PC Suite  7.1.26.0
Connected cable to PC USB 2.0 port
    and other end to E71x
In PC Suite main window see "Connected in non-compatible mode".   What now?

OK I found the solution on the Asia forums.  It's a setting within the phone that dictates what the phone does on a USB cable connection.
    Menu>Settings>Config>Data Cable.
Change from Media Transfer to PC Suite and all is well.

Mayuri@dpka, you have syntax errors in your solution. If you're casting as varchar, then your syntax should read '1' instead of 1. Also at the end, it should be '0' instead of 0.
    Mayuri,
To use your syntax, try this:
    IFNULL(CASE WHEN EDM_TRD_IR_LEG.LEG_ID=1 THEN CAST(EDM_TRD_IR_LEG.PAY_RECV_IND AS INTEGER) ELSE 0 END, 0)
...if you need the result as a numeric for aggregation purposes...

  • Nokia 6500 Slide Connected In Non-Compatible Mode

Hi,I've cracked my screen and unable to access anything! I transferred my SIM (3 network) to another phone. Although the phone works all my contacts and messages have disappeared. I am quite positive they were saved to SIM. Anyway tried connecting using broken phone with SIM using USB and get message Connected in non-compatible mode and I still cannot access contacts or messages. I'm getting extremely frustrated can anyone help?
    Many thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You have a S40 phone, Another thing you can try is, when you are sure the keypad is unlocked, connect the phone and after a few second press the right selection key(the one you usually use to step back or disagree or cancel) which should be cancel. If your phone is anything like my 5200 that will send it straight to connect via PC suite. I think even pressing the red button will do this(Not sure about the red button though but the right selection I'm certain about)

  • [nQSError: 22027] Union of non-compatible types

    Hi Gurus,
I am trying to create a union report but i am getting an error as [nQSError: 22027] Union of non-compatible types. One of the column is Int Datatype and other column is Varchar. What do i need to do to change the datatype to resolve this issue
    Really appreciate your help
    Regards

    Hi,
In the report, you can use CAST( int_datatype_col as Char) for the int datatype column in the report.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • All I want is all my contacts on my phone and the same on my iMac, but no, that's too much to ask, instead I get everything doubled up on the phone and everything doubled up (triple in some cases) on the iMac, why does it do this? and more importantly how

All I want is all my contacts on my phone and the same on my iMac, but no, that's too much to ask, instead I get everything doubled up on the phone and everything doubled up (triple in some cases) on the iMac, why does it do this? and more importantly how can I stop it? Thanks

Look under system preferences on the mac at what is be controlled?  Look at Mail, Contacts, Calendars.  How many accounts are managing contacts?  Just the cloud? the cloud and gmail? or cloud, gmail, yahoo, and exchange?  If you have more than one contact account, then you will have different contact lists, if John Smith shows up in more than one of your contact lists, you will have multiple entries.
Pick a contact list that is your master, (I use iCloud), only turn on contact syncing for it.  The same for your phone.  Spend some time on the iCloud webset (www.icloud.com) and work on your contact list there.  Clean it up, remove duplicates, etc...Changes will auto sync back to all your devices.  Life gets much simplier.
Just remember, if you sync different contacts lists and a large number of people appear in your different lists, then they will appear as duplicates.

  • Nokia N70 connected in non compatible mode

First here are some facts: Im Using Pc Suite v6.83 on Windows XPsp2. Im using USB cable to connect to my N70.
Now here's the problem: The first time I used PC Suite after Installation, it worked fine. When I used it again the second time, it acted strangely. It didn't detect my phone correctly. It detected the N70 alright, but a baloon popped up from the PC suite Icon on the system tray saying "nokia n70 connected in non compatible mode". Then when I went to the Get Connected wizard, a warning popped up which says "Your phone is in file transfer mode and connot be used with PC suite. quit file transfer mode from the phone if you want to use PC suite". I wonder how could this be since I know that the N70 has no file transfer mode.
Then after finally having my phone detected correctly after diconnecting then connecting the USb cable, my system detected the phone as a digital camera imaging device and as a mass storage device, showing up in windows explorer aside from showing up in the Nokia Phone browser. I Don't think this is a normal bahaviour.
Then the third time I tried to use PC suite, it detected the phone as bing in in non compatible mode again. Yhis time disconnecting and reconnecting the USb cable didn't help.
I found some strange things in the windows device manager too. I found out that under portable device, the N70 was there but disabled and labled as not properly working.
Have you guys encounterd this prblem before? If you did maybe you can help me resolve it. Thanks in advance!

  • Non-compatible message problem

im having a problem with the non-compatible message, keep getting it with nothing attached to it and since that i cant hear music with the speaker , i cant even hear the keyboard clicks or YouTube video sound, volume is all the way up, speaker does works in a call ringer works except when it is an sms

    I'd try general troubleshooting http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1737
    Hardware verification http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1650
Especially check the dock connector on the bottom and blow out any lint or dust and pray there is no corrosion. Maybe try the plug in the headset and unplug it trick a few times as well.

  • Connected in a non-compatible USB mode?

Well, first of all, I guess I should "howdy from a newbie"
I bought my Lumia 820 a few days back, and after having a few set-up quirks, things seem to be going quite well.
I can only see one problem left, and that's as the title suggests, and was wondering if you guys would be able to help with that one.
When I connect the phone up to the PC (running Windows XP SP3), and having Nokia Suite 3.6.36 running, it comes up telling me that the phone is 'connected in a non-compatible USB mode', preventing me from doing anything in Nokia Suite.
Any clues as to what I would need to do to correct this please?

When i connect the phone to the PC (USB DKE2) after setting the USB-mode to datatransfer (menu / settings / connectivity / usb) the PS Suite icon in the systemtray reports "non-compatible mode" or something like that. Leaving the phone physically connected and switching USBmode to PCSuite, then PCSuite works OK. But I can't get connected in data transfer mode.
    Anyone?

check the pc suite version you have. The latest is 7.1 and new phones wouldnt be supported by older versions of pc suite like 6.84.If you're using older version it will give such message.
