Non-contact email addresses

I was sending an email, and addresses that either I used once from sending or replying show up as options when I type in the To: field. I will probably never send to these people again but I have no idea how to delete these from wherever they are being stored. Is there a way? Thanks.

Try going to the home screen > settings > general > reset > reset keyboard dictionary.

HT202667 I am ditching my non-Apple email address and want to stop using it. My husband's ID is his icloud email, why can't mine be?

I don't want to run two email addresses and want to use my icloud email address for all correspondence. Itunes keeps sending me emails to my old address and it won't let me change my Apple ID to my icloud address. My husband's is using his without any issues. Is there a way round this?

I'm afraid not. While people who started with iTools or MobileMe had their @mac.com/@me.com (and now @icloud.com) address as the ID from the start, and people who open a new Apple ID and iCloud account at the same time from the iCloud preference pane can choose to make the @icloud.com address the ID, if it's the case that your ID is a non-Apple email address you can change it to another non-Apple email address but you cannot change it to your @icloud.com address.
You can of course set up forwarding from the ID address to the @icloud.com address so that you only have to look in one place. However you should be aware that if the setup means that you can only be contacted by Apple at the @icloud.com address, then if you have a problem such as a forgotten password or a corrupted account, Apple can only contact you at an address you cannot access so it's essential to have a 'rescue address'.

If you insist on using a mailing list for something it is not designed for I guess the answer is yes.
Address books are for contacts and provide for contacts without email addresses. As stated earlier, mailing lists are for creating groups for sending group emails. In order for a contact to be on a mailing list they have to exist in the address book you are creating the list in.
A better solution if you are trying to create categories of contacts is create a new address book.

I can't send with non-icloud email address

I'm on OS X 10.9.1, and can't send emails using a non-icloud/mac email address, in Mail. I can recieve emails addressed to my non-mac email address.
I've had this problem for several years, and there didn't seem to be a solution to start with. I was hoping the issue might have been fixed by now, but I still haven't been able to find a way to configure Mail so that it will work.
This is very annoying, because the non-mac email address matches my website and my email signature, so it is irritating that I don't look professional when sending or replying to emails for my business. It also makes automatically organising emails into mail boxes (work and personal) impossible.
In preferences > accounts > account info, I have both addresses separated by a comma. I can't see anywhere else I can put it.
I'd be very grateful for any wisdom on this!

If you migrated from MobileMe, try deleting the e-mail account in your mail preferences and adding it back again. You will only be required to enter your password and the ID, the setup should add the correct settings and hopefully this will resolve your problem.

Verifying non BT email address

Hi.
I'm sure this answer is posted somewhere already but .....
I am trying to verify a non-BT email address for sending emails. It keeps telling me an email has been sent to me but it never arrives. I have double checked (many times) the spelling is correct and also looked in the spam.
Incidentally - this is my own domain (i.e. [email protected]) is this the problem?

Are you getting any error messages ? What sort of settings are you using ? What was your previous ISP, and how was the non ISP email setup on Outlook ?
Unless you do have the capability of using the 3rd party smtp service with your email address (not always available, depending on the service), then you need to go through address verification, and make sure things like smtp authentication is set - as well as making sure the smtp settings in Outlook are correct.

Hi,
I have to send a notification when one of the condition occurs. I have to send email based on the role of the users, i.e first find the email addresses of the users based on the role and then send email to their non-sap email addresses(like the company outlook email). Can someone tell me the detailed steps need to be followed here..

Applescript cannot reference Outlook 2011 Contact Email Address

Hair all pulled out; about to kick my head against a real brick wall. I have an applescript that had worked great in Entourage but Outlook has changed the dictionary. Trying to tweak it, but it's painful.
Basically, I'm trying to add email addresses to a contact object. In entourage, I used this:
set addx to (make new email address with properties {type:home, contents:(item i of emailAddresses)} at theContact)
And it worked great (obviously, I declare theContact earlier and do stuff with it later)
Accordng to the dictionary, in Outlook it seems the list of contact email addresses are in a property called "Email Addresses" which contains a list of "Contact Email Address" items.
Any attempt to reference, declare, make new, ANYTHING with contact emaill addres fails with an error. As an example (emailAddresses is my own list of text items)
This command: set addx to make new contact email address with properties {type:work, address:(item i of emailAddresses)}
Returns this: Microsoft Outlook got an error: Can’t make class contact email address.
This one: set end of email addresses of theContact to (contact email address with properties {type:work, address:(item i of emailAddresses)}
won't even compile, and returns: A properties:true can’t go after this contact email address.
So I'm not sure how to add an address if I can't declare one.
If anyone has successfully added an email to a contact record via applescript, I'd LOVE to see how you did it!

I don't have Outlook, so can't be sure here, but there are common AppleScript parallels that might help.
This command: set addx to make new contact email address with properties {type:work,address:(item i of emailAddresses)}
Returns this: Microsoft Outlook got an error: Can’t make class contact email address.
Typically you cannot arbitrarily make a new object without defining where.
I would suspect this code would work better as:
set addx to make new contact email address at end of email addresses of theContact with properties {type:work,address:(item i of emailAddresses)}
By telling AppleScript where to create the object you should be OK

Mail Groups with Multiple Contact Email Addresses

I cannot find a way to create a Group in Address Book where the contacts have more than one email address. In fact I have not been able to get emailing to groups with Mail to work at all. I always get prompted to select one of my other outgoing SMTP servers... none of them work, iCloud, Gmail, private domain. I don't understand why this is so difficult.
I have read online that Groups do not support contacts with multiple email addresses... Really? Say it isn't so!

User A can have one mailbox associated with his ID. You can create other "User A" mailboxes with different names and e-mail addresses as shared mailboxes and grant User A full mailbox rights and send as right. User A can

BT access to non BT email addresses

My wife and I both received an email purporting to be from "BT Yahoo! My Account Services" telling us that our BT internet passwords had been changed about 2am. Sure enough when I logged on this morning my password was not working so i had to go through the security questions and set a new password.
The odd thing was that the initial email at 02:10 was sent to my business account (a website provided by fasthosts). A second email (at 02:15) was sent from noreply at btinternet.com. This second email was only sent to my btinternet email address.
Resetting the passsword worked fine and I got a second email from both noreply at btinternet.com and BT Yahoo! My Account Services telling me that the password had been changed again.
Once again the email from BT Yahoo! was (according to Outlook) sent to my business email account with fasthosts as well as my BT internet account . Similarilly my wifes warning came copied to her NHS email address. I phoned BT help and was assured that the email was genuinely from them. the lady would not confirm or deny that any changes had been made to my password at 2am for security reasons..
Does anyone have any idea how BT could have got access to these other email addresses?

Hi. Welcome to the forums.
The thing to check is the email headers (if you need help on this, drop a reply back). Rather than post the info here which may include some personal info, you can always send me the details in a Forum Private Message and I'll look.
The email from "noreply" etc, doesn't seem correct as the real password change does say "BT Yahoo! My ...". However scammers will know this and send emails pretending to be service type emails in the hope that people will click on embedded links to a non BTinternet website, hence passing on details like the password.
It seems strange that you are getting two emails.
Do you by any chance have any forwarding/copying setup from the BTinternet accounts to your other accounts ? The email receipt may not be the exact time the password was altered, but should be within a relatively short period of time.
It is possible that your account may have been hacked somehow (e.g. phish attempt - have you responded to a "security" type email pretending to come from BT?) - which can lead to the password being altered by the miscreant.
Do you store any contact information within the webmail system, for example your business email address ?

My question is, how can I sync my iphone with to my PC without erasing the info in the iphone. I don't want my system
to think that since the PC is empty it should erase every contact in the iphone. I just want to transfer everything

Maybe you should go Discussion-Apple to look for what is iTunes user directions about how to backup your iphone.
Other than there are also a tool called Contacts Tool search iphone applications,and it will help u a lot if u want to transfer the contacts to computer.Like Out2003 or Outlook2007...

If you want to use another Apple I.D, you can go to SETTINGS - STORE. Click on the Apple I.D; select Sign out and Sign in with a valid Apple I.D.
If you want to change the password of an existing Apple I.D. you need to sign in to the account first which apparently you can't as the "password" is incorrect. Here is what you can do to change the password.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com
Login with the Apple I.D. and you will see these 2 option.
Select your authentication method.
Email authentication: To access your information, we will send an email to the address(es) on file for you.
Answer security questions: To access your information, you will answer the security question(s) provided when you originally created your Apple ID.
Proceed with the one that's easy for you.

Missing functionality - multiple contact email addresses

Currently SBO version 8.8 oly allows a single email address for each contact to synchronize with Outlook.
Contacts routinely have multiple email addresses which should all be enabled to synchronize with Outlook. by limiting to a single address in the contact record, the activities in the contact records will be missing critical history which may be requred for legal requirements onder Sarbanes Oxley and other legal reporting requirments for document retention requirements.
Section 302 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requires the CEO and CFO of a public company to personally certify and attest to the accuracy of their company's financial statements contained in periodic reports. Section 404 requires auditors to certify the underlying controls and processes that companies use to reach financial results. Both sections require proof that a company's reported financial information can be relied on - and require companies to invest in procedures that ensure information is recorded and managed in a trustworthy manner, including email. As an organization's dependence on electronic mail continues to grow, the mismanagement of email provides a growing target for litigators and regulators. Companies must ensure that records in digital form are managed with the same care and attention as records in paper form.
Business records must be protected at all times from unauthorized tampering and deletion, more so when a company is involved in audits, investigations, litigation or other formal proceedings. It is therefore of primary importance to copy and archive data before a user has a chance to manipulate it or delete it. Companies must ensure that directors, management and accounting personnel in particular, are informed of their obligation to preserve business records

You can try holding the COMMAND key, then highlighting the contacts you wish to delete, when you have finished sekecting try pressing COMMAND-Delete, this should trash them. Be sure enteries are are correct, there is no coming back.
