NON CONTRACT MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot: Mac OS X Lion

I have a Mac Book Pro running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.2) and I just purchased the MiWi2200 Intelligent Hotspot. However, when I open VZ Access Manager, it says: VZ Access Manager installation requires administrator privileges.  Please log in as a member of the administrator group to install. VZ Acess Manager must be run once in an adminstrative account. It can subsequently be run in a user acccount. Even though I am on the admin account! Apparently, it says this because I'm running Lion.
I want to be able to run my software and use this MiFi!
This is what it should be or similar to this! http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_set_up_configure_verizon_mifi2200_device.htm l
Please help!
Thank you!

Aha! I had this very same problem recently.  The VZAcess manager that's on the hotspot won't work with Lion.  I had to download a newer version. You can find it here: http://vzam.net
Be sure to uninstall the old version first.  There's an uninstall menu item in the vz access manager app that you should use. For more info, check out the VZ Access Manager troubleshooting guide on this website.  I'd leave you links, but the board here is not playing nice with my iPad.

  • Upgrade Time... From UM175 USB to ? Fivespot or MiFi 2200 that is the question.

It's time for an upgrade on my UM175 USB broadband device. It has worked well but my family needs more access (3 pc's). So I have two options.
    1. the Fivespot Global Ready 3G Mobile Hotspot
     or
    2. the MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot
I can't see any real difference between them except for the Fivespot being "global ready", which I don't need. I am in a fringe area so I need a strong unit (typically get 2 to 3 bars with the UM175).
Any information on either of these will be helpful.
    Thanks!

  • MIFI 2200 usage

Can you please tell me how i can find the usage on a given day? FYI,I connect to the web via selection of the MIFI 2200 on the"airport" (mac)  and have put the password into my key chain, so nothing pops up,and goes directly to the web (if i have made myself clear)
I have also connected to my USB but don't understand the options.
    Thanks

If you visit your MyVerizon account on the Verizon Wireless website or if you look around in the VZAccess Manager for a usage section, I think you should be able to see the data usage on a daily basis. If not, at least you can find your overall data usage for the billing cycle. I'm on a MiFi 2200 right now on vacation since the other connection I have access to is disconnecting constantly, and I know that visiting http://192.168.1.1/ shows the data usage since the last time the MiFi was rebooted.
I use the above address since I do NOT have any Verizon software on my PCs. I'm running the MiFi in Wi-FI mode.

  • Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot PRO USB cable connection to Mac

I am trying to connect a Samsung LTE Mobile Hotspot PRO via USB cable to my Macbook and iMac.  I can see it in the System Information, but it does not show up in the Devices in Finder.  Is there a driver that I need?  Does it exist (yet)?

So I was able to get USB tethering to work, but I still can't connect to the hotspot as a media device (and view what is on my microSD card and/or the device).
Here's how I got USB tethering to work: I plugged into my laptop running Linux, where both USB tethering and mounting as a media device work fine, found the Mac OS driver on the device, copied it over to my Macbook, installed, rebooted, wirelessly connected to the hotspot, configured for USB tethering, went to Open Network Preferences..., connected to "SAMSUNG Mobile Device".   I did all this after talking to Samsung on the phone, where they told me the driver does not exist yet....

  • Connecting MiFi 4510L mobile hotspot to a PC

I recently upgraded my mobile hotspot to the 4510L 4G LTE. My previous MiFi device allowed me to connect my PC to the internet by USB cable. My new device came with a USB cable however it says its only used for updates/upgrades. I tried to use it anyways to connect my PC to the internet and it did not work. Of course the new device works well wirelessly with my laptop. Can I use my new device to connect my PC to the internet?

You cannot tether / connect to the MiFi 4510L via USB cable.
The MiFi is wireless connection only device.  USB and Ethernet cable connections will not work with the MiFi.  If you need to use a cable then you must add a different device such as the one suggested by evdotech.
ex. MiFi ))))wireless)))) MBR95 ---cable--- Computer.
The USB cable is only used for charging and firmware updates.  The 2.23 firmware update will enable you to take future updates over the air further reducing the use of the USB cable.

  • Hello.  I upgraded my MIFI 2200 (had no contract on it) to a Jetpack (with a contract) when customer service told me this 4G device would use less data because it was faster.  This was not correct.  Anyway, I got the device, had problems, did tech support

I upgraded my MIFI 2200 (had no contract on it) to a Jetpack (with a contract) when customer service told me this 4G device would use less data because it was faster.  This was not correct.  Anyway, I got the device, had problems, did tech support, re-activated my MIFI.  1.  Decided to return the device. Spent hours with Customer Service, then finally up to Management, they agreed to take it back and void the contact, I sent it back immediately – and instead of voiding the contact they transferred it to my MIFI! Please cancel the contract on the MIFI. 2.  During the short time I had the Jetpack I continually received overage alerts, took it all the way up to 30 GB, each time I backdated the new data plan except twice when customer service did and failed to back date the increase, and once the computer locked customer service out and could not increase.  The end result is I have a $495 bill, many of these alerts were false since I ended up with only 14 MG for the month, etc.  I am asking that my bill be reduced significantly to reflect no overage and to compensate for these problems. Please open up a ticket for this.

I had Verizon JetPak and you will find it will eat data like crazy. I opted to sign on to ATT Uverse and configured my phones and other devices to the WiFi on the Uverse system. It took about 5 minutes to completed the configuration.  I was using 10 to 12 GB monthly to support 5 devices. Even if you use Verizon DSL, you are still subjected to same GB allotment.  In my area, Verizon DSL is not available. With Uverse, I have 250 GB monthly to use, and I have not even come close to using anything of that magnitude. I reduced my GB package with Verizon to 2 GB per month and since having ATT Uverse, I never use more than 1GB a month with Verizon.
I have no problem with Verizon cell phone service as we get a much stronger signal where we live than you can with ATT or any others.  It is just my opinion, but if you are running multiple devices off Verizon Jetpak, you will eventually spend a fortune to keep pace.  I pay $60 a month for 18 Mbps speed, although ATT have packages that cost much less. But, it saves me a bundle each month. The cost of Uverse alone is worth not having to run everything through a Jetpak.
If you have the  option to use another DSL service provider in your area, I recommend dumping the Jetpak and sign on with another carrier.

  • Will my factory unlocked non contract t-mobile iphone 6 work in India if I use another sim there?

I am planning to buy the new iPhone 6 with the t-mobile non contract version which is factory unlocked. I will occasionally travel to India, so I will the Indian sim in India. I wanted to know if my Indian sim will work in this phone or not?

Not sure if your question was answered, but I just used a T-Mobile iPhone 6 in France with no problem.  T-mobile does not appear to have a lock on the phones.  In case this is relevant, I first turned on and set up the iPhone 6 in the US with the T-Mobile sim in it, but never intentionally "activated" anything with T-Mobile.  I just used the iPhone on Wifi for a couple of weeks in the US before returning to France.
Other than the "unlock" issue, iPhone 6 should work in India with any sim-based network.

  • USB760 Broadband Modem & MiFi Mobile Hotspot & iPad

I have a USB760 Broadband Modem that I use with my Dell Laptop (it does not have wireless built in).
I also have an iPad with wireless and 3G, purchased from Apple last summer.
If I can, I'd like to avoid paying for two separate Verizon accounts.
Is there a way I can access a single Verizon account on both the Dell Laptop and the iPad?  For example, can I:
--Sign up for a single Verizon account that I can access using either the MiFi Mobile Hotspot or the USB760 Modem?
    OR
--Create a hotspot for the iPad from my laptop with the USB760 Modem?
    OR...
    Other options?

  • Verizon iPhone - mobile hotspot and other questions about the data options

I just ordered the Verizon iPhone. Can anyone explain the options here:
    1) Unlimited corporate email & Web (business and personal email) vs. Unlimited email and web for smartphones (personal email) - what's the difference?
    2) "3G Mobile Hotspot 2GB" - does this mean that there's no way I can share my 3G connection via wifi without paying the extra $20/month?? How about tethering to a single computer (USB, BT, or WiFi) - does that also require this extra option?
    3) equipment protection - what's the difference between Extended Warranty, Asurion Wireless Phone Protection, and Total Equipment Coverage?
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hi
Regarding your #2 question; yes, you must pay $20/mo to use the 3G Hotspot aspect of the iPhone, same as with any of Verizon's phones that offer this feature such as the Droid X, HTC phones, etc. And, there is NO additional charge to tether it to your computer; it's $20/mo regardless. You can still use the iPhone's WiFi feature to search the web which is part of the regular data plan. We're only talking about paying the $20/mo for the "up to 5 devices" jumping on your phone as a hot spot.
I'm an Apple fan, have my MacBook Pro, but my phone is a Droid X. I've been a Verizon member since a year before they became Verizon. Additionally, I am part of the Verizon & Motorola test forum; testing new software updates as they come along.
Something you should know about Verizon's 3G Hot Spot feature; it has issues. Those of us in the Motorola & HTC forums have experienced identical issues with regard to the 3G Hot Spot feature; it disconnects every 2 minutes, even when you are actively surfing the net. Verizon & Motorola Support have been very helpful to provide what they believe are fixes, including: changing the channel, hard resets, clearing cache, etc. It does not work. Most of us believe, this is NOT a Verizon issue, but a phone maker issue.
I also have Verizon's MiFi 2200. It costs $59/mo and is purely a hot spot device; again up to 5 devices. I use it at home, for my lap top and for those who need connectivity. It outperforms the 3G hot spot feature of the Motorola & HTC phones by leaps & bounds, and I suspect it will out perform the 3G hot spot feature on the iPhone. Additionally, you get 5GB of download with the MiFi which Verizon is planning on offering increases to 8GB & 10GB. There is NO plan to increase the 2GB download limitation on the 3G Hot spot of the iPhone & other phones, and anyone who does basic software downloads & pics, knows 2GBS is not a lot space.
So, I would recommend not paying the $20 until this is resolved. If you do, you could pay $39 more for a total of $59/mo for the MiFi, download the software to you home computer & notebook, and end up canceling your home internet service. I did this and have saved $70/mo in my total utilities.
One other important note: Verizon's VZManager Software for their phones & MiFi. If you did pay the $20/mo for the iPhone and decided to tether to your USB port (for power while using) and you were to use the 3G hot spot feature, it will NOT work on 64 Bit computers, regardless if you are using the WiFi feature or directly using VZManager. The MiFi has this same issue. It will only work on 32 Bit when tethered. So, you'd have to reboot your computer to 32 Bit, if you have that ability. On a Macbook Pro, simply restart holding down the "3" & "2" keys.
I have no idea why Verizon can't simply upgrade the firmware, even recent firmware upgrades have not resolved this. Most new computers are 64 Bit now.
Despite this, I use my MiFi 100% untethered and carry my charge cord in my bag as it also works on my Droid, and I presume they may do the same for the iPhone; reduces the need for multiple power cords.
I really looked forward to the 3G feature of the Motorola & HTC phones, but honestly, it's just not there yet; mine was slower than Dial Up, and I'm not kidding.

  • How do I delete my Mobile Hotspot service without incurring fees?

I live in a small town off the beaten path. I recently decided to go back to school and do so online. No major cable companies are available in my town so I had to buy the Mobile Hotspot for internet. I purchased in January, I have not had it working correctly since I added it to my plan. I have had the sim card & the device replaced with no improvement. It wont stay connected to 4G and it always drops the internet connection. I have to shut down the hotspot, wait a few minutes, and then turn it back on. Once it is one I have internet service for about an hour then it turns off again.
Is it possible for me to cancel this service without incurring termination fees. I think as I didnt receive what was promised to me that I didnt break contract they did...right?
Would love to hear your advice. Thank you!

    Not likely going to happen.
Everyone is held accountable under the same ETF agreement, terminating earliy is going to cost you $175.00.  Unless you only have 3 months left on your plan then you can expect to pay the full ETF upon your termination notice.
Folks who have reduced or waived ETF's have a history with VZW tech support that well documents the limitations.  When VZW gets tired of replacing the device under waranty they tend to be more open to reducing or waiving the termination fees.  Your best bet here is to keep calling into VZW and working with Tech support.  Ask them to look at your history and see what options they can come up with for you under replacement or early term.
From what you have described here you do not have anything that is out of the ordinary for these devices.  MiFi's were never intended to be left online for long peroids of time.  Treating them like an always on internet connection is bound to cause momentary disconnections and gaps in service.
