Non Dreamweaver Extension Photo Album (Gallery) Recommendations
Hi all,
I knwo this is a dreamweaver forum, but I also know that it's
the place to
come for non dreamweaver web questions.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for a 'non
dreamweaver' photo album
(gallery)?
I found this one JAlbum, has anyone used it, is it any good,
what are the
pro's & cons of this one?
http://jalbum.net/
Other suggestions?

That's what I thought, I'm looking for a none dreamweaver
option (cheap or
even better free) - the Jalbum fits that bill, just wondering
what people
thought of it.
Thanks

Dreamweaver Web Photo Album - no images
I am working on creating a Dreamweaver Web Photo album. I have done this before and it worked. Now, when I open the wizard:
and go to 'Source images folder' > 'Browse' I get 'No items match your search.' Unfortunately I can't get a screen shot of this since the page that pops up takes up my entire screen and can not be moved. I have tried just about all my image folders, making sure I only select the ones with jpgs in them - nothing. I do have the entire CS4 Adobe Creative Suite, including Firworks installed on my computer.
Windows Vista
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Hi Beth,
Thanks, I will give that a try. Yes, I have Bridge and I have made/am making albums there. I am just not able to edit them in Dreamweaver as much as I would like to. So, I thought doing them in Dreamweaver would give me more editing options.
Again, many thanks!
christian
ps. You are also correct - doing it in Bridge gives me better functioning slideshows/web galleries!!!!! -
Need photo album/gallery with upload/download capabilities
Hi all,
This is my first time here. I've recently purchased my first
Mac with iLife and have Dreamweaver MX. I'd like a photo album app
that allows for easy uploading of images (batch if possible). I'd
like to take the images and make quicktime movie slideshows from
iMovie and then upload those into the album so friends and fam can
look at. I'd like the albums to be password protected. I've looked
at Coppermine and Gallery, but I don't know a thing about PHP or
MySQL. I do, however, have some understanding of databases (MS
Access and Oracle) and I understand regular SQL. I did develop an
ASP app in a class a few years back, but not sure if any of that
knowledge remains in the grey matter (PHP and MySQL seem to be the
trends now). Will Dreamweaver make things easier if I attempt
either of the aforementioned apps? Is there a truly plug and play
app that might be easier? I am a bit lazy and pressed for time. Any
direction will be greatly appreciated.Hi all,

Dreamweaver/Photoshop Photo Album and linking
created a photo album test in Photoshop so that I could
include security features such as watermarks. Once I created the
album I exported it to Dreamweaver where I have all my website
files. I am now having some challenges integrating the Photoshop
Photo Album within the Dreamweaver web site. Here are my
challenges:
1. I can't create a link out of the photo album to other
destinations within my web page such as the Home Page, Purchase
Pictures Page, etc. I need direction on how to enter text in the
page and also creating the links.
2. I also want to change the background color of the page.
How can this be done?
3. I would like to increase the size of the viewable area so
the large photo is even larger and the thumbnails are totally
visible without using the current scrolling mechanism. I would like
to take up the whole screen and have the ability to change the
color in the bakground to my choice. Additionally reduce the amount
of spacing between the large photo and thumbnails also.
4. Can I change the photo image descriptions which is
currently img_6173.jpg for example?
The test of this photo album can be viewed on
SurfingPicturesEast.com under the Football section and choose "Test
of Photoshop Web Photo Album".
Thank you in advance for any help that can be offered.

SPEI'm using PS CS3 and it has nineteen templates for "Web Photo
Gallery" and
most of those have various customization options. Other than
that you're
going to have to go directly into the CSS and the HTML to
modify the pages.
Design view in Dreamweaver is unlikely to be of much help to
you. If you
aren't comfortable with css and html you are going to have a
difficult time
with this. I too needed to add links that weren't created in
PS and I had to
do it in code view. If there is a way to make the pages show
anything useful
in design view I didn't find it. Maybe someone with more
expertise on this
can be of more help to you.
Good luck,
Alan

Photo album & gallery views mess up with links and lay out
Hi,
Am having a weird problem in album/gallery function.
I added links on the album page, but after viewing the gallery, reverting back to the album the link stopped working (main problem), and in the gallery page the link does not appear in cases or is lay-outed very close and then more below.
Obviously I tried already by duplicating my 2 pages that work quite well and remake the other pages, but the problem persists.
Anybody can help ?
Following is a description:
http://web.mac.com/drieke.tom/Caravanserai/Gilles_works.html
Album view is fine, link at the bottom works.
Click through to gallery of photos: link at the bottom of page is gone.
Going "Back to Album": link at bottom does not work
On following page s. th similar happens
http://web.mac.com/drieke.tom/Caravanserai/collaboration_works.html
Click through to gallery of photos: link at the bottom of page does work, but is now much lower on the page.
Going "Back to Album": link at bottom does not work
In my other similar pages it works,
though there are some minor gliches as well:
1/
http://web.mac.com/drieke.tom/Caravanserai/Tom_works.html
You click a photo in the album and it shows the enlargened photo with tumbnails. Though my link at the bottom is very close to the photo.
Browse through the photos and when you do "Back to Album", it goes back to the album at once, and with my link at the bottom, it reverts to the main page: "Exhibition"
2/
http://web.mac.com/drieke.tom/Caravanserai/Gilles_press.html
In photo gallery mode, link at bottom is there and works, but very close to photo title.
Going "Back to Album": link at bottom does work !!
WHAT GOES WRONG ?
ANYBODY CAN HELP ?
Thanks
TomTom:
Have you tried doing a "Publish All to .Mac" or publishing to a folder on the desktop and seeing it things work there. Often the Publish All will fixe issues I'm having.

Setting up Photo album on a pre-buildt page?
I built a photo album using the DW Command> create photo album and now I have my folder with pages, thumbnails and images. I have a pictures page built for my site already and have read a dozen tutorials but can't figure out how to import my album folder info into my picture page. Is this possible? How do I make my photo album look like the rest of the pages in my site?
ThanksNot to put too fine a point on it, the Dreamweaver Create Photo Album command is a pile of garbage. And no, I'm not likely to offend Adobe engineers by saying so. They agree that the code it creates is completely out of date and has no place in Dreamweaver. It was created in the days when websites and web design were much less sophisticated than today. It's not used by professionals, who are the main target market for Dreamweaver, so it was never improved. A much better solution is in the Adobe Output Module in Bridge CS4, which is installed by default with the latest version of Dreamweaver.
Unfortunately, if you want to use the Create Photo Album command in Dreamweaver, you're entirely on your own. It cannot be used to integrate with an existing site. You need to generate the photo album, and then style each page individually to fit in with the rest of the site. Decide to add a few new pictures, and you have to start all over again. Sorry, but that's the way it is. -
IPad 1 / Windows 7 64 bit / iTunes 10.7.0.21
My extensive photo albums content has been scrambled when syncing. In other words, some of my Factory photographs are now splattered into my Weddings albums, and so on. I use the iPad for displaying business photography to my clients, and this phenomonon prevents me from using the iPad for this purpose. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this, and it affects all 26 of my albums - Help greatly appreciated - IMTry deleting the photo cache from your computer and then re-try the photo sync and see if they then copy over into the correct albums - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page.

Best way to insert non-flash photo album in Dreamweaver CS5.5
Using Dreamweaver CS4, I created my wife's art website. It is: www.tanglewoodbrushstrokes.com
To insert photo albums, I used Bridge and Fireworks. Once past the initial learning curve, I was able to create these albums fairly easily. However, these albums have two limitations that I would like to address.
1. Adding or deleting an image requires creating a new album and then posting it on the page. Now that I have practice, it doesn't take me very long to do this but there must be a simpler way. As you will see on my wife's site, she has many pages of photo albums. Moving photos from her "Recent Creations" page means those images my be disbursed over three or four different albums. So this can be very time consuming.
2. The albums created in this manner are flash galleries and are not visible on Iphones or Ipads.
I recently purchased Dreamweaver CS5.5 so I could use HTML5 in order to make my site work on Iphones and Ipads as well as PC's. I have nearly completed the tutorial and am about ready to create a new site. Today I have done some searching for ways to use non-flash galleries and have not come up with a definitive answer.
As you can see on my wife's website, the galleries are fairly simple. All I really need is a page of thumbnails leading to a larger image with a description. I want to keep it that way.
Any suggestions? There is no one size fits all solution to this. You're using DW to make a gallery and it's not really a gallery creation tool per se. It's web authoring software. So whichever gallery solution you choose it's going to come from someplace else. And then you must integrate it into your HTML pages.
Personally, I really like dynamic slideshows with jQuery. Add some PHP code to your page. Upload jQuery scripts and optimized images to your server. Done.
To swap images later, add/delete files from image folder on server. Done.
You can see a live demo of this below:
http://alt-web.com/DynamicSlides/
http://jalbum.net/
If you want to generate a lot of different galleries quickly, look at JAlbum. It's a commercial product that creates the thumbnail images & HTML pages for you. There are lots of skins (styles) to choose from and you can further customize layouts with CSS.

How can I get a photo album together in Dreamweaver?
I was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me how I can get a photo album set up and running on my web pages?
I have Dreamweaver CS3 on my MAC
Thank you in advance.Essex2Let.co.uk wrote:

Dreamweaver CS3 has a Create Web Photo Gallery feature on the Commands menu. However, it produces horrible code, and doesn't look very pretty either. What's more, it relies on Fireworks also being installed on the same computer.
If you have Photoshop CS3 as well, you can use its web photo gallery feature. See http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/10.0/help.html?content=WSC5BFBCAB-EEF0-4e2d-995E -0EE0409A9327.html.
Dreamweaver CS4 comes bundled with Bridge CS4, which creates a really good looking photo gallery. I have published a tutorial on how to incorporate a Bridge CS4 gallery into a Dreamweaver site at http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/gallery/embed1.php. I'm currently updating the tutorial to make it easier, using an idea supplied by Petar Subotic. -
Web Photo Album 3.0 for Dreamweaver 8
I am using the extension Web Photo Album 2.2.6 with Dreamweaver 8 (plus Fireworks 8) and have come across references to Web Photo Album 3.0 but I can’t seem to find a URL to look at the detail
TIA
shampayneIf you installed the extension you should be able to launch the Extension Manager application to get information about the extension that was installed. If you are referring to the one in DW, I would not get to used to it if you plan to upgrade. The feature has been deprecated as of CS5.

How can I upload my photo album to my gallery and share to friends from iPad?
How can I upload my photo album to my gallery and share to friends from iPad?
You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your album file into the folder. The file must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the files should appear & you can import.
