Non English caracters in Policy Server invitation mail

Letters that are not in the English alphabet do not come out as they should when invitation and confirmation mails are sent from Adobe Policy Server.
In my case the Norwegian letters Æ Ø Å are not showing correct. But I'm guessing this goes for all other non eng. letters.
Example Å = Ã¥
I have installed Adobe Policy Server (automatic install) with JBOSS/Tomcat and use the IIS smtp server. Does anyone know where I have to do changes to get things correct?

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. However I can not get it to work. It said utf8 and not utf-8 in the jboss-run.bat so I have tired both entries in the run.bat file (one at a time):

set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Xms128m -Xmx512m -Dfile.encoding=utf8
I also changed the jboss-run.bat to -Dfile.encoding=utf-8 without any sucsess.
The regional settings on the win2003 server is set to Norwegian and I have a full server restart after each time I make a change in the *.bat file. Any tip on what I might be doing wrong would be appretiated.

Non-english caracters in file names

Hi,
I use archlinux, KDE, Dolphin.
I have a problem with file names with the norwegian caracters ø æ å in some file names. I get the message that "the file does not exist". I can change the file name in the terminal, but it's a lot of work. In Dolphin the place of this letters there are a question sign. In the terminal there are different signs and a number.
Can anybody tell me what causes the problem and a way to solve it.

I used cpio to pass files from a Bluewhite64 JFS /home partition to my new Maxtor Basics 1TB external USB disk, which I had reformatted from NTFS to JFS. SOME file and directory names containing the letter 'ø' or 'Ø' are visible in file managers and in a console, yet when I try to open them the system claims they don't exist. Interestingly, with the keyboard mapped to 'no.latin1', the letter 'ø' appears as a 'funny' character on the console under runlevel 3. When I try the other choice for Norwegian, 'no.map.gz', I get a dvorak keyboard instead of qwerty. You can never win.
The problematic files in question, i.e. of the ones I copied, are old and have passed through various OS's. That may be part of of the problem, but it does not explain the Norwegian keyboard anomalies in Arch, or the fact that the files are loadable and readable under Bluewhite64.

[SOLVED!] On USB drives, problems with non-English chars and HAL

Hello,
I am having a problem with non-English caracters (áãàçéẽê...) on files stored on my USB drive.
On Windows they're created with the correct name. But on Linux the files have the non-English characteres replaced by '?' and are not accessible.
If I manuallly mount the drives using 'mount -o iocharset=utf8 /dev/sdb1 /media/usbdisk' the characters are OK, so I think I just need to get HAL to pass the correct parameters to mount. However I don't know how to do that, and haven't found any good solution.
I tried to build a custom kernel setting the default charset as UTF-8 and it didn't work.
Any ideas? I'm using x86-64, HAL 0.5.13-3 and my locale is pt-BR.UTF-8.

EDIT: Actually, this is not a HAL problem, but a problem with 'exo'. For the solution, I edited /etc/xdg/xfce4/mount.rc and added iocharset=utf8 to the [vfat] category.

I don't use Thunar presently, but I looked in the Thunar Volume Manager doc and I didn't find anything to change the mount options of removable drives. I am not quite sure if it's possible or not. Maybe someone using it can tell for sure.
But if it is not possible to change the mount options, a possible solution is to disable the Thunar Volume Manager plugin and to use something else more configurable to manage the automount function.
Personally I use the halevt package from AUR which uses configuration files in the xml format.
It's not so easy to use but is highly configurable.
But there exists other tools also.
I can help you with halevt if you choose that way...

Network Policy Server windows 7 non domain wireless clients could not connect (Event id 6273 reason code 265)

We have successfully configured network policy server on windows server 2012 and all wireless clients could connect to our network except windows 7 and xp non domain clients.The clients that are successfully authenticated includes windows 8,mobile users
(andriod + iOS) domain as well as non domain clients.If we join windows 7 pc to the domain it successfully connects but non domain clients could not connect.We have large number of windows 7 users that have their own laptop machines and we dont want
each laptop to join the domain.

According to the error message, it seems that you used certificate-based authentication methods and the non-domain computers has no Trusted Root Certificate for the CA that enrolled the certificate for the NPS.

Non-English international email addresses

Any help or pointers are much appreciated.
I get data feed from our HR database to our application database.
Some of the email addresses are non-english ( international ).
The questions is 1.
1. how do I store, retrive and use the same for posting email notification ?
2. What should be my database server charater set ?
3. What should be my client application charater sert ?
4.How do I capture the email address. Meaning what is the data type of the email address field in the table.
5. Will there be any impact on other oracle database, which is connecting to our application database

Non-English characters

Hello, I have read several times that since Java uses Unicode, it solves the problems of non-English characters automatically or something like that.
But my app is not working as expected. Would someone help please?
I have a client/server combo written in Java. The server can send messages in English or Japanese. The Japanese messages are hard-coded as String literals in the server source code. On the client side, they are displayed on a JEditorPane. But the Japanese characters are all garbled. The OS on the server side and client side are, of course, different.
My supposition, which is obviously wrong as it is not working, is that since both ends of communication are Java app, I need not worry about any encoding conversions for String literals.
Suggest me what is wrong here?

Non English characters in FTP transport

Hi gurus,
I have this kind of problem: I need to create text file from internal table (table of 10000 charactes lines) , the file should be created in given ftp server (currently using FM FTP_R3_TO_SERVER).
But, and here is the problem, the text file contains some non English character (Czech to be specific) and after the file is created in ftp server the non English character are replaced by #, characters are fine in the table, even after creating the file on local system everything is fine.
I checked rfc connections, their are Unicode, file is sending in bin mode of ftp (ascii mode had no change, only acsii mode cuts the line to 256 character which is not enough) and parameter of fm FTP_R3_TO_SERVER character_mode is checked.
I will appreciate any help or "kick" in right direction.

I'm not using the FM 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER' any more to transfer the internal table to ftp, so I do not have the code. Sorry,
but i will try to answer the question.
when you are using function module 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER' to transfer internal data to ftp the parameter fname should be the name or path of the file you are creating. If you only put file name there for example:
     CALL FUNCTION 'FTP_R3_TO_SERVER'
       EXPORTING
       handle = w_hdl
       fname = 'test_file.txt'
     character_mode = 'X'
this will create file test_file.txt in root directory on ftp.
You could also put there whole path on the ftp for example
      fname = '/directory/test_file.txt'
Other approach will be to change to the directory with function module 'FTP_COMMAND' with parameter command set to cd /directory/ code will look like this:
data: lv_command type string,
         lv_path type string.
constants: lc_change_dir type string value 'cd'.
*body of the program including calls of FM to connect to ftp
concatenate lc_change_dir lv_path into lv_command sepparated by space.
CALL FUNCTION 'FTP_COMMAND'               "this FM will execute any ftp command on ftp server

this "code" will create file test_file.txt in the ftp server on given directory from internal table passed to fm ftp_r3_to_server.

Non english characters in DN cannot be retrieved

We are using Netscape directory server 4, protocal V3. We have a problem related to non-english characters appearing in RDN.
We publish to Ldap entries using the values from database. For example, we have pubulished an entry to Ldap, based on DB values, the entry should have a DN like: ou=Liege BELGIUM ... LGG1a, <other components of DN>. However, when we call netscape search API (search against uid attribute which does not have non-english characters), the search return the entry, but when further call getDN() method on the returned Ldap Entry, it only returns Li, instead of the complete DN value.
It seems the entry is corrupted in Ldap. I wanted to delete the corrupted entry and re create new one to test. I tried many ways, but none of them worked, I think it is because DN is corrupted, there is no key value to identify the Ldap entry for any operation(modify, delete).

LDAP uses the UTF8 encoding. You must store data in the directory using the UTF8 encoding. This includes DN values. This also means that if you want to be able to view the values in your native character set and font, you must use an application that can convert the UTF8 LDAP data back to the native character encoding. The directory console by default should work for LATIN-1 (ISO 8859) languages if the LOCALE is set correctly.

Non English characters in BIP email

Hi, my report contains Japanese characters, when I view the output in HTML format. It is displayed properly. But when I click on send button , enter email parameters like to, cc, bcc, subject , etc and send it, in the mail I receive, the japanese characters are not getting displayed properly. The same problem occurs for spanish and portugese texts-in general to all non english characters. I am using Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher Release 10.1.3.4. Non-English characters not displaying correctly - Serious Issue

My corporate email is on a Lotus Domino server with Lotus Traveler installed.
I have set my PlayBook (with OS 2) up to syncronize with the corporate email trough Active Sync (see http://alturl.com/qh3nn), which works perfectly.
I have however noticed that in some emails special non-english characters are displayed correctly but in some emails special non-english characters are displayed as a black diamond with a question mark inside.
This is of course a serious issue as most non English speaking countries use some special characters.
When trying to understand this problem how can I analyse the emails and see what character set is being used?
And of course better; has someone solved this?

How to add exactly 2 NON XML caracters at the end of a SOAP body

Hello all I am trying to add two (and only two) extra non xml caracters "AA" at the END of a SOAP body using the JAXWS handlers as so:

The problem is that if you try to add them to the SOAP body (see code below) you get a XML Unmarshalling exception. If I add "AA" as a soap attachment I get MORE than 2 caracters after the SOAP body (which I don't want)

to add two caracters at the end of a soap message seems like over kill. If this is the only way to do this then i'll do it this way but it just seems like the implementation of the JAXWS API in JDK 6 seems inches away from being able to do this no ?

Support issue for non-English characters (in html forms)

Hi group!
I just want to post an issue here and see if anyone else has the same problem. First off, Im running Windows XP MCE but the French version (not the english version). This may help find out where the problem really is.
Second, I know a bit of html and such, and I'm referring to HTML Character entities for this thread, there's a quite complete list here for reference: http://www.faqs.org/docs/htmltut/characterentitiesfamsupp69.html
I noticed that some, not all, non-English characters written in a textarea (which is, basically, a multi-lined input box) doesnt pass well or at all to the server when sending the form from Safari. Most of the time, the content of the text area is reduced to the beginning and ends where the first accentued character is met.
The most used French accents (é, à) are usually well interpreted (but may, once in a while, produce that bug too) by safari, but ô and î doesnt do that well.
Oddly, this bug doesnt happen all the time and doesnt "crash" in the same manner everytime.
So I started a thread just to see if there's anyone else having issues with any non-english characters mostly in forms. Probably flash/shockwave does work, but I'm not sure- I have not tested yet.

Yes, it is a known issue. I also noticed that it sometimes works, but most of the time it does not. It will hopefully be solved in the future. According to http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ changes that will come include:
