Non-existant photo links?

Hi all
I have an N96 (firmware version 12.043) and I have a weird problem with it. When I go into the photo gallery, I have loads of boken links to photos that don't actually exist on the phone (they were on the memory card previously, but I have since deleted them) that I want to delete. When I try to delete them I get the error "General: System Error".
This problem started when I got back from a holiday in the US (I'm in the UK) last week.

This is very late, but I had the same issue so I'll respond here. The issue is that the phone's index of photos is corrupted. It's found in /private/101ffc31 as glxmdstn, I think, or maybe it was another folder. It thinks the files are there, but they're not. (Usually, managing the phone's contents in PC Suite or Media Transfer mode does this. I've had all sorts of issues with phantom files this way.) So if you delete that, by connecting the phone in mass storage mode and showing hidden folders in Windows, it'll rebuild the index based on the actual contents and it'll be fine.
You run into a problem if this happens with any files that were stored on C:/. The corresponding Private folder is also in C:/ and unlike the one in the memory card there's no way to access it. You have to back up your phone, do a complete blanking and reset, and then reload the backup.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • IPhoto "importing" spurious non existing photos

iPhoto constantly tries to "import" 2 non existing photos every time it opens.
I tried import as an answer to the - do you wish to import? question as well as No in answer to the annoying start-up question, but all to no avail.
How do I stop this annoying start-up?
Please assist if you know the cause..

Quit iPhoto and to to the iPhoto library (by default in your pictures folder) - right click (control click) on it and select show package contents - find the folder named import (on importing) and drag it to the desktop - DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES - launch iPhoto and you will be fine.
Open the import(ing) folder and if there is nothing in it that you need move it to the trash and empty the trash

  • IPhoto repeatedly tries to import non-existing photos

I recently deleted 100 photos from iphoto. Now whenever I open iPhoto a box pops up that says "2 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that have not been imported. Would you like to import them?" Whether I click yes or no, a second box will pop up saying that the photos have been placed in a recovery file. This process happens 2 times every time I open iPhoto. The empty "recovery" files continue to build each time this happens. How do i make iPhoto stop asking me about these 2 non-existent photos, and how do I make it stop creating recovery files?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • 2.8GB of Non-Existant Photos???

Recently I've been getting notifications that my iPhone storage would soon be full, so naturally, I log into my computer to backup and delete some files to create more space. But I've realized that my phone and iTunes are saying I have 2.8GB of photos left on my phone, even after deleting all the photos that were currently in my phones library. iCloud and Photo Stream are both off and resetting my phone hasn't worked. I'm really frustrated and have been trying to fix this on my own for at least an hour and I've given up. Please help!

Do a backup, restore, and re-load the backup.  That may correct it, but I've heard from users where it doesn't, in which case you may have to restore and start from scratch.  Something peculiar seems to be going on with this issue, it is becoming more common lately.

  • None existent photos taking up space

I have deleted every single photo and video from my iPhone 6 even the recently deleted. But in usage it says photos still take up 3 gigabytes. How do I clear up that space? I don't see what I can do. There are no photos or videos on the phone

  • Non-existent photos taking up 2.7 GB storage space -- help please!

My iPad 3 says, under Settings\General\Usage\Storage, that I have 2.7 GB in "Photos & Camera", and specifically 2.7 GB under "Camera Roll."  I have deleted *everything* from Camera Roll manually -- there is nothing there.  Yet it still is taking up 2.7 GB of storage and preventing me from installing apps.
I tried syncing it with iTunes on the computer and telling it to remove all photos; didn't work.  I tried swiping to the right on "Camera Roll" in the Settings, which gives me the option to "Delete" -- which I click, and it does nothing (except freeze that icon so I can't swipe it anymore until I close or open settings -- let it sit for 2 hours once and it did nothing else). I've done everything but reset it to factory defaults.
I am not sure what caused it, but when I first got the iPad, I did tell it to sync a bunch of photos during initial setup.  I then realized how much room they were taking up and promptly removed them (I don't remember if I did it manually or by a re-sync).  But they are long gone, and the 2.7GB storage remains...
Can anyone help, please?  Thank you!

Restore.  Note that it's not quick.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

  • Non-existent photos take up lots of space

    I have a 16GB iPad 3.
iTunes on my Mac shows that 2.9GB of space on this iPad is taken up by "Photos".
I've two photos on this iPad - one is a screenshot of a webpage, the other the only photo I've ever taken with the iPad's camera.
I'm syncing no photos to the iPad.
So how on earth can this consume 2.9GB of space?

  • How can I unlock the copy protection of songs that I've acquired some years ago with an old - and non existing anymore - account? Can I link the songs to my new account or do I have to purchase them again?

How can I unlock the copy protection of songs that I've acquired some years ago with an old - and non existing anymore - account? Can I link the songs to my new account or do I have to purchase them again?

If you're in the US, you will be able to use iTunes Match for $25 a year to remove copy protection in a few months: http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
If you're not, you can't.  You can authorise iTunes with the old account in addition to your current account, so all your songs will play, but I'm not sure what will happen if you try to sync them to an iPod.

  • AlbumData.xml not built correctly: Original photo link is not on filesystem

Background: using iPhoto 7.1.5 (378), with option unchecked "copy items to the iPhoto Library', library migrated from one external hard disk to another. So: my pictures are stored separate from the library, both on the same new external hard disk.
*The issue*: when using e.g. iTunes to copy pictures to a device, iTunes only shows some of the pictures (counts are lower), many pictures are missing. In my case: over 8000 pictures in iPhoto, iTunes is only showing about 3000. The cause of the issue is the file AlbumData.xml, which refers to files that are not on the filesystem.
Interesting is that I can view and export all pictures in iPhoto just fine, even the "missing" ones. So: the data in the internal iPhoto database must be different than the AlbumData.xml file. I tried recreating the AlbumData.xml file, but exactly the same file is recreated.
*The cause*: not sure, probably related to the migration of the iPhoto library + pictures that are on the filesystem, from one external disk to another. It seems it works fine when adding new images. But not sure about that.
*The details*: the AlbumData.xml contains entries where the ImagePath for the original picture refers to a non-existing picture. That is: there is no such file. When checking the filesystem, in some cases that whole directory does not exist, in other cases the directory exists, but no content. When adding new pictures, everything works fine.
Rebuilding the iPhoto database did not help either (alt-cmd when opening, with all option enabled). iPhoto Library Manager (great app, great support) has the same effect as e.g. iTunes, it seems it has to rely on AlbumData.xml instead of the internal iPhoto database.
*The expected result*: a way to rebuild the .../Originals/... filesystem that is in sync with the iPhoto internal database.
Looks like a bug in iPhoto to me.
    Any ways of solving this?
    Thanks in advance!

Baring a incompatible HD format issue that Terence questioned about, moving the library and source files to a different drive will break the link between the alias file and the "source" file. Even renaming the HD the same hasn't proved successful in reestablishing all links in such a library.
However, since they are on the same HD now, you probably can relink each event one at a time by double clicking on a thumbnail and, when asked to find the source file, navigate to the appropriate folder and selecting the file. That will usually relink all files in that event/folder. Probably the photos you're seeing currently are those that have been modified and have versions of themselves in the Modified folder within the library and thus do not rely on alias links.
That being said, IMO you would be best served by running a manage library and have it located on the external HD. You would be able to relocate the library at any time without any link issue. You don't show what Mac model you're using but if it's a laptop and you need to take some of the photos with you just have a "traveling" library which you can stock with the photos you need by copying them from the external library to the laptop's library using iPhoto Library Manager. It will copy events or albums between libraries and keep the metadata, titles, keywords, and comments, intact.
If you do a search for "referenced library" in this forum you'll find a lot of posts which illustrate the pitfalls of running a "referenced" library.
    Happy New Year
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • My iPhone 5S prompts me for my password to an Apple ID email that no longer exists as an account.  How do I change my Apple ID address without having to change the primary address to a non-existent email account?

I cannot sign into icloud on my phone because the Apple ID is an email account that has been deactivated and deleted.  How can I change my Apple ID without having to change the primary email address to this non-existent account? If I did so, I wouldn't be able to access the account to receive the verification email. Please help!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You should not need to verify the old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • I need to get away from iphoto.   I use pixelmator for editing almost exclusively.  I have a Sony disc hx200v camera and a Kodak.   I will need to know if my cameras (on mac) will be seamlessly supported and how to get all my existing photos safely to lig

I have several questions.   iPhoto does not meet my needs.    I would use lightroom mainly for organization and downloading photos from my camera cards.   My cameras are Sony disc-hx200v and a little Kodak  I will need to know if they are fine with light room.  Also I use pixelmator for photo editing and likely will use iskysoft dvd maker for mac to create my dvds once edited.      I am desperate to find a way to make my work flow work.   i.e.   I need to get photos somewhere on my mac,  in this case it would be lightroom then I need to edit them in lightroom and pixelmator,  then be able to get that  album/slideshow/folder whatever you call it Into the dvd maker to voiceover and finish the project.      It looks like aperture would have been more to my taste but they are
also taking that away.   Yeah!  Go Apple.   About all I will have left of use is an operating system and mail.     Will appreciate any help.  I am 73 and doing dvd's for Amazon so I really can't afford any more programs that are snatched away and learning curves that change every 6 months.

Are you shooting in raw or jpeg?
I’m not sure there is raw support for your Sony model and you don’t say which Kodak you have. But for jpegs Lightroom will normally work.
For your existing photos it would usually be necessary to export versions to the desktop or create new folders in Finder. Those duplicates will contain the editing adjustments you have already made and can be imported into Lightroom using “Add” in the import dialog.
I would suggest you download Lightroom and use it free for 30 days. You can then test it to ensure it meets your needs. You can download from this link:

  • How to delete iCloud account, with non-existing email as ID, on iPad?

Cannot delete iCloud account (which happens to have a non-existing ID) on iPad in order to have same account as on iPhone - keep trying using current Apple ID and PW but to no avail - iCloud settings continue to insist that Apple ID/PW is wrong but they are the ones I have in "manage my ID"???

If the ID is your the iPad is signed into is your old ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPad on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

    Thanks,
    Raj

As per my understanding you have created KMC file for folder "company" which is inside "root".
Can you confirm if company folder exist in QA environment?? if it dosenot exist then create repository by performing following steps:
    1. Go to System Administration --> System Configuration --> Knowledge Management --> Content Management --> Repository Manager --> File system Repository OR CM Repository (as per your requirement)
    2. You can find whether you have to create Repository inside File System Repository OR CM Repository by looking into your test or developement environment by going into the path mentioned in step 1. Copy all the properties of the Company repository from test or dev environment.
    3. Now inside one of the repository(File System Repository OR CM Repository) you can create one repository with name Company.
    4. To create Company repository you will find the option "NEW" inside the above mentioned path and on clicking on the same, fill all the properties (take help of the properties you have copied in step 2).
And now try to upload the KMC file.
