Non http GSLB with failover pairs in each DC

Hi guys,
I'm fairly confident that it's possible to use GSLB between two datacenters for non http traffic. My question is, can you do this while having redundant CSS in each datacenter?

Just to make sure I understand...
You can either configure box-to-box redundancy or VIP redundancy within the datacenter (locally) -- not both. Between the datacenters you use GSLB.
YOu mentioned that the easiest solution on the local level would be box-to-box, but could you use vip redundancy locally if you still wanted local services to be redundant within each datacenter? Basically, can you mix it so that you have some services redundant across datacenters, but other services redundant within datacenters?

Amongst standard website favourites saved on my IE toolbar i have several html documents/pages of my own making. These obviously begin with a non-http address.
Examples are pages that contain an array of favourite webcams on a single page, or a page that opens up several related sports sites each in their own tab, or a stormchasing swathe of tabbed windows covering live video chase, weather radar, emergency service scanners etc. etc.
An address would take the format on the lines of
"C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\My Documents\Football Results and Tables\UK.html"
Firefox insists on adding 'http' before the C:\ (plus unlike IE it also adds the %20 for spaces.)
Can anyone help to to get FF to accept a favourite that is not a website.

I just verified that it still works for me in Firefox 18.0, using the "star" in the Location Bar.

Non-blocking execution with Pro*C/C++

Hi readers,
Is there any mechanism available through which Non-blocking execution with Pro*C/C++?
I observe that Pro*C queries are hanged when the DB server (hardware) is down.
I understand that OCI provides non-blocking mechanisms. Pro*C doesn't use this OCI functionality?

Upgrading FWSMs in Failover Pair

Due to bug, we are upgrading our Dual Chassis FWSM Failover pair from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4. I want to minimize downtime, can anyone point me to some documentation or briefly explain the best process. From 2.2 documentation it appears I can upgrade between maintenance release while maintaining failover capabilities, was this the case with 1.1? Or is the "Replacement of Failover Unit after Hardware Failure" the best process to failover eventhough one unit has not failed?

But as stated in FWSM FAQ -failover for ver 1.1 (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps2706/products_qanda_item0900aecd800fa578.shtml), this might be your case. FWSM running ver2.2 provide more flexibility and minimize downtime with the 'online upgrade' features. This feature is not available in code 1.1.x.
Therefore, when performing the upgrade. rebooting both FWSM modules are inevitable, but at least with a very minimum downtime (time taken for the module to get online and working).
What you can do is to 'break' the standby FWSM from the failover process, and perform the upgrade. Repeat the same process for both blades. See attachment for details instruction.

We are getting ready to migrate from server core 2008 r2 hyper-v with failover cluster volumes on an iscsi san to server core 2012 r2 hyper-v with failover cluster volumes on a new iscsi san.
I've been searching for a "best practices" article for this but have been coming up short. The information I have found either pertains to migrating from 2008 r2 to 2012 r2 with failover cluster volumes on the same hardware, or migrating
to different hardware without failover cluster volumes.
If there is anyone out there that has completed a similar migration, it would be great to hear any feedback you may have on your experiences.
Currently, my approach is as follows:
1. Configure new hyper-v with failover cluster volumes on new SAN with new 2012 r2 hostnodes and 2012 r2 management server
2. Turn off the virtual machines on old 2008 r2 hyper-v hostnodes
3. Stop the VMMS service on the 2008 r2 hostnodes
4. copy the virtual machine files and folders over to the new failover cluster volumes
5. Import vm's into server 2012 r2 hyper-v.
Any feedback on the opertain I have in mind would be helpful.

How to get standalone Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql?

I do not know if it is just me but it seems to be a nightmare to get OHS with mod_plsql from the official OTN download site. I downoaded the companion CD for Windows - 3 disks, installed OHS - no mod_plsql. Then I tried to find any clue on OTN on how to download mod_plsql - none. Plenty of information on how to configure it and use it, but nothing on how to get it.
PLSQL gateways is not an option for us because many of our clients do not allow direct communication between the database and the Internet.

Box model/none absolute positioning with flash

In recent years none-absolute positioning (or box model positioning) has become the norm with HTML/CSS
this is uselfull for dynamic functions which appear on an event (such as an object which appears when a button is clicked on or a error message that appears when a form box is given invalid input because it automatically inserts itself it the right place.)
One very important example of this is when you have a form which automatically produces an error message and the error message appears bellow the input area which caused it and the rest of the page is pushed down.
With none absolute positioning the developer does not need to worry about this.
But if the objects are given absolute position then it becomes a massive problem, the developer has to go about giving the objects differetn positions dependant on if dynamic objects appear or not
potentially the developer has to consider all possible variables, and code if statements which determine the position of all static objects for all possible variables which dynamic objects could take.
so does flash have a "none absolute positioning" solution to this problem.

Before you get all happy and pleased with yourself, APDivs or Layers seldom work well as a primary layout method. Here are some reasons why:

You're much better off using default CSS positioning (which is no positioning at all) along with CSS margins, padding and floats. If you don't believe me, check your page in non-IE browsers with increased/decreased text-sizes (zoom, text only).

I am very new to java and using NetBeans 5.
I want to display the results of different methods in a JtextArea with a delay between each output to the JtextArea.

Using a Timer is always a good approach.
Otherwise make sure you execute the long running code in a Separate Thread and then use SwingUtilities.invokeLater(..) when you need to update the GUI. Here is a simple example using this approach:

Resolving non http urls in JSP

When I include an html hyperlink in my JSP as follows :
Yahoo
then the hyperlink on the web page points to
http://www.yahoo.com
However if I write the hyperlink as
Yahoo
then the hyperlink on the web page is wrongly created as
http://<hostname>/www.yahoo.com
This seems to be an issue with the JSP engine. I am using weblogic.
Is there any way to resolve the non http urls?

This has nothing to do with the JSP engine.
<a href="www.yahoo.com">Yahoo</a> IS not a JSP tag and is not touched by the JSP engine.
The problem you have is just your WEBBROWSER interpreting the url wrongly mainly becasue you have forgotten to provided the protocol your webbrowser has to use.

          plug a subclass of GenericServelt into WLS?

I don't think there is a way to use non-HTTP servlet's, but still you can use WLS

Https site with no mixed content and EV cert is shown as mixed and not identifiying itself

My site https:orderform page contains only https images and website has an EV cert that is valid and current. With history cleared and visiting page for first time Firefox reports that page contains mixed content and that site does not identify iteself.
Hitting F5 to refresh the page address bar correctly shows green with no mixed content popup and that side idenfies itself.
SSLCertificateChainFile has been added and this makes no difference.
Problem does not occur in other browsers (IE, Safari, Chrome).
A new FF profile has been tried but same problem occurs.
Why would refeshing the page work?
Problem affects all firefox browsers 3.5 to 14.01. I dont know about those <3.5.
I have read and tried most suggestions in forum and elsewhere but cant find a solution.
I have not provided the url as this is my order page and its important for me to see genuine visitors.

I have found a workaround for what appears to be a bug in Firefox:-(
Here is the non-perfect workaround. First Detect firefox

The current non-secure page is being replaced with a secure one.
Internet Quote:

It appears that FF is using some content (cached) from the previous non-secure page when replacing - leading to the mixed content and non-identified site. An F5 refresh or reload of current page will show that site identifies iteself and there is no mixed content.
In summary its a Firefox Bug.
