Non iCloud emails on 3 devices question

I'm using BTYahoo and have this setup in the laptop, iphone and ipad.  It's not using iCloud  - I'm having problems and I dont know if there is a solution - I read the email on the iPad, for example, but it doesnt update the server/laptop.  Sometimes i view  the Inbox, and then all messgaes disappear before I get a change to read then, but are always available on the laptop to read.
Do I need to forward all eamils to a iCloud account as a solution?  This account is for mailings, advertisements and other non-important stuff, this is why I still use and dont want to receive it on the iCloud account.  It's very inefficient and I still end up having to read/delete etc the emails on the laptop

It sounds like you are using a POP/POP3 email account.  When you do this, the email is deleted from the server by default when it is retrieved on one of your devices.  Most POP accounts allow you to set this to never delete from the server so email will remain on the server to be retrieved by your other devices.  Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>tap your email account, tap Advanced under Outgoing Mail Server, then tap "Delete from server" and set this to Never.
A better solution is to move to an IMAP account, which will make your email available on all your devices, allow you to use folders, mark you messages as read when you read them on any of your devices, etc.  If you don't want to use iCloud, you could try Gmail or Yahoo.

  • Can Multiple email accounts on Galaxy S4 sync with iCloud & non-iCloud email?

Hello… has anyone successfully set up multiple email accounts (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T/etc.) on their Samsung Galaxy S4 Jelly Bean 4.2? I searched the forums and it has been said that configuration settings depend on the combination of wireless service provider + device model + email providers + Android version.
My S4 is from AT&T and if this scenario can't work, I have to cancel my contract in a few days (although that would be the last resort). From checking the forums, not everyone has been able to get the S4 to work with iCloud. In my case, I hope to sync up with iCloud and non-iCloud email which might be trickier.
Here is one thread that helps with settings, but doesn't seem to address multiple or non-iCloud accounts: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22435596#22435596
    Some background info…
Although Gmail just works on Android devices, I plan to primarily use Apple/Yahoo/AT&T email (at least initially).
I don’t yet have Apple mail/iCloud, but plan to. I am partially switched to the Mac (Mtn Lion), but haven’t completed the jump from Windows.
I don’t have an iPhone (so hopefully that makes the setup less complicated.)
I mostly care about email on the S4 (I’m not concerned about syncing up contacts, calendar, music, etc.).
Apologies for the long post, but hopefully I’ve included the necessary background info for the questions below:
Is it possible to setup multiple (iCloud/Yahoo/AT&T) emails on the Samsung Galaxy S4 from AT&T so that they sync nicely?
From the S4, if I reply to an email, will the Sender in the email reply be the same account which received the email? Or, (as I’ve read in the excerpt below) will the Sender for all email replies from the S4 be set from a fixed/primary account?
Although the first two questions above are the most urgent for now, I'd appreciate pointers if you see something that should be changed in the configuration settings below.
    Thanks in advance!

After spending quite some time trying to get my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II setup with iCloud mail, this is what finally worked. Thanks to everyone for the various bits that helped lead me in the right direction. For those who need lots of detail, I hope the below helps. Please don't ask me about any other specific Android phones as I'm not expert but thought someone out there could benefit from my experience.
    INCOMING SERVER SETTINGS
User Name: username (do not enter @me,com or @mac.com)
    Password: (enter your password)
    IMAP server: imap.mail.me.com
    Security type: SSL
    Port: 993
IMAP path prefix: p##- (you can find this by checking your account settings on your Mac. Mine was p03- so that's what I entered here)
    Press NEXT
    OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS
    SMTP server: smtp.mail.me.com
    Security type: TLS
    Port: 587
check the box next to "Require sign-in" if it's not already checked
User name: username  (do not enter @me.com or @mac.com)
    Password (enter your password)
    Press NEXT
Your phone will check the server settings and you should be able to see your email now.
And another poster provided these additional tips…
Definitely select SSL/TLS and accept all certificates
Now here's the zinger: Authentication should be LOGIN
After figuring this out, I finally (after many hours of searching and testing) got to my outgoing server settings, which are: smtp.me.com
    NONE for security type
    Tic "Require Sign-in"
    Authentication is PLAIN
And another poster's question about the Sender's email address for multiple accounts…
Managed to get this all set up however, Android only seems to allow you to send from your primary address and only reply from your primary address even if a mail was sent to one of the other addresses.
Any ideas how to get around this as I have three addresses beneath my primary which I need to both send from and reply from.

You're unlikely to find many people with experience of configuring multiple email accounts on a specific Samsung device, here on the Apple forum for an Apple service. Try the Samsung forums for help setting up your Samsung phone.
There are a few posts with general info relating to setting up an iCloud email account on Android here if you search though.

  • Does email sync over iCloud also support sync of non iCloud email accounts?

I use mac, ipad and iphone with sync over iCloud. While ipad and iphone sync emails of both iCloud and non iCloud email accounts, email sync between mac and ios devices works only for iCloud email account.
Please clarify whether iCloud should sync emails of both iCloud and non iCloud email account across all apple devices (mac, iphone, ipad) or it is not designed to do so.
    Thank you.

    Thank you for clarification.
However, after rechecking everything again, I can cofirm that full sync of all email accounts (icloud and non icloud) on all apple devices works perfectly as long emails originate from ios device. Unfortunately, this does work if email is sent from mac.
    Thanks again.

  • I have taken off/turned off iCloud on my mac mini but when I write an email   and use contacts it will convert a non iCloud email to and iCloud email automatically.  I really don't want this. Any way to stop this automatic conversion?

I have taken off/turned off iCloud on my mac mini (OS 10.8) but when I send an email and use contacts , it will convert the non - iCloud email to an iCloud email automatically.  Anyway to stop this automatic conversation?

    Robert...
the iCloud webserver wont accept my password for a .mac login, nor will it allow me to change it
See if you can change your password >  Apple - My Apple ID
If that doesn't help, launch iTunes on your computer.
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Reset warnings and Reset cache
    Click OK.
    Restart your computer.
    If that that doesn't help...
Moreover, when I try to go into my .mac account on the web,
Delete all apple cookies and empty your browser cache.
See if  you can access your account at iCloud.com

  • Making sent, non-iCloud email available across iOS devices?

I use iCloud for my personal email. I have a .mac account and it works well. At work, my company email is set up on my Mac and iOS devices, and all incoming email is received on all of them. But my outgoing business email is only stored on the device from which I wrote it. How can I change my setup so that I can access all my sent business email on all devices?
My company email is an IMAP account and is set to use port 993 for outgoing mail. (not that I actually know if this matters, or what I'm even talking about...)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No, as I mentioned, my business mail is not an iCloud account. However, I have added the account to my iCloud-enabled devices (iPhone and iPad), and I receive incoming mail on them all. I am looking for a way to see my outgoing, non-iCloud business email on all devices, not just on the device I used to write the email.

  • ICloud email and Apple ID question

I have an odd problem, heres the background:
I signed up with an iChat account a year ago when I got my new Mac Pro and chose a new sign in with an @mac extension. Then I changed my apple ID to MYNAME@MACdotCOM to reflect my iChat and to streamline all of my Apple ID's, etc. This ID however was never tied into an email account.
Now that iOS 5 and icloud is finally out, I enabled email sync in iCloud and was prompted to creat a new @me username. So I did and used the same name that is on my Apple ID, the only difference is this new address has @me insted of @mac.
iCloud set up on my mac like a breeze and Mail sees the new address and syncs up great.
Now I go to my iPhone 4 with the new iOS 5 and enable all the cloud stuff under my Apple ID and everything syncs great. I go into mail on my iPhone and compose a new message and heres the problem: The "from" address in the new message is showing my Apple ID MYNAME@mac not the one created for iCloud (MYNAME@ME) AND when I try to send the message I get this "The sender address MYNAME@MAC was rejected by the server" . But when using Mail on my Mac, it sends and receives great and doesn't try to use the @mac address, only the @me... same when logged into iCloud.
Now I know that my @mac was never a functional email address, but in iPhone mail it doesn't give me the option to use the @me address, only the @mac one. I assume that Apple is combining the two extensions since I can log onto the Apple site with the ID "MYNAME@ME" in stead of @mac and it logs me in just fine.
My question is how can I get Apple to activate or allow the @mac for email or get iphone mail mail to stop trying to use the @mac? I assume someone at Apple would be able to make that happen via email or phone. Hmmm.
I tried myself to change my Apple ID to @ME but the "edit" option is not available, Apple won't let me change it. I tried both through iTunes and the Apple website.
thanks for reading and any help on the matter is greatly appreciated!

An email alias will act just like you iCloud email address, and it will receive incoming mail at the same inbox. It will be added to your existing iCloud account/ID so you can continue to sign into your account with your current ID.
Your iCloud ID is separate from your iTunes account ID.  You can keep your current iTunes ID and add a second ID for your new iCloud account; they do not need to be the same.  If you want to migrate your data to a new iCloud account, on your device go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (this only deletes the account from the device, not from iCloud).  When prompted choos Keep on My [iDevice].  Then set up a new account with a different ID and turn your iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choos Merge to upload the data to your new account.

  • How to use my non-iCloud email with iCloud calendar events

Is there a way to use my regular email address (non iCloud) to receive iCloud invites?
My contacts don't know my iCloud account, they only know my regular email address so they will send messages, calendar invites, etc to my regular email which is not my iCloud account.
Although I can accept invites to any account, there isn't the same level of integration with iOS and OS X apps that you get when the invite is sent to an iCloud account. (i.e. they don't appear in Calendar, you have to accept them from an email and it sends you off to iCloud.com) or you have to download the .ics file to add it, etc.
Is there a way to link that regular email address to my iCloud account so that invites and messages to that email are treated as though they were sent to my regular iCloud account and I can accept, reject directly from the calendar applications on either my iOS or OS X device?
    Thanks!

You can sign in with your @me.com address in System Preferences>iCloud and check Mail in the checklist there - this will reactivate the address, though you will not be able to retrieve any data previously stored on MobileMe.

  • Can i receive both iCloud emails on one device

When I entered the APPLE world I had NO CLUE where to begin so I screwed up! I wound up with two similar id's while trying converting a gmail to iCloud so now i have 2 apple id's there and 2 iCloud emails. Then spouse n I created a new combined apple id, iTunes and iCloud YEAH! BUT I need two of the iCloud emails to be delivered to all three devices. HOW CAN I MAKE THIS HAPPEN? I tried changing my phone to the other apple id but then most of my apps would not allow a redownload for 90days NOT GOOD!....HELP PLEASE!!!

No you can only be signed in to one iCloud account at at time.
You can manage your iCloud storage here:
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage
From here you can see how much data is being used and by what apps
If need be you can purchase more iCloud storage here:
Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Buy More Storage

  • I can't send with non-icloud email address

I'm on OS X 10.9.1, and can't send emails using a non-icloud/mac email address, in Mail. I can recieve emails addressed to my non-mac email address.
I've had this problem for several years, and there didn't seem to be a solution to start with. I was hoping the issue might have been fixed by now, but I still haven't been able to find a way to configure Mail so that it will work.
This is very annoying, because the non-mac email address matches my website and my email signature, so it is irritating that I don't look professional when sending or replying to emails for my business. It also makes automatically organising emails into mail boxes (work and personal) impossible.
In preferences > accounts > account info, I have both addresses separated by a comma. I can't see anywhere else I can put it.
I'd be very grateful for any wisdom on this!

If you migrated from MobileMe, try deleting the e-mail account in your mail preferences and adding it back again. You will only be required to enter your password and the ID, the setup should add the correct settings and hopefully this will resolve your problem.

  • HT4864 setup non icloud email for use in icloud?

  • How can I sign out from old icloud email on my device? I changed email recently and by mistake restored my new iphone 6 from old back up with email that doesn't exist. Pls help!

I have changed i cloud email recently, and wanted to set up my new iphone 6 from 2 months old back up. Later I found out that icloud has old email, but it doesn't recognize password to sign out because it is not in i cloud system anymore. Now I cant turn off stupid icloud to reset my new iphone 6
How can I change icloud email or reset and erase new phone 6 if it is stuck on an old apple id which doesnt exist?

The fact that the email address doesn't exist anymore doesn't matter. As far as the Apple ID is concerned, the email address is just a user name. As long as you know the password you used, it should be fine.
If you don't remember the password, start here:

  • Emails don't arrive to if my (non-icloud) email address is in the body

This is extremely strange.  When I send emails, if my work email address is in the body of the e-mail it will not arrive to the recipient.  I tried from my outlook or from my icloud.com .  If I take it out it arrives just fine.

  • A solution for notes, non-icloud email, itunes

Wondering if anyone out there can see what I have done...
    ok, let me explain...
Up until an hour ago, I was syncing my iphone4s, ipad2 & Mac "manually" in itunes so my calendar, "notes", contacts updated on all the devices.
At this point, I need to make it clear that my itunes email account I use for all devices is my personal yahoo account.
I also have a .me email account added on my mac mail and my iphone and ipad so I can check those too.
I also have my business mail as well added to all my devices.
now... on my Mac, my notes are mostly set under Reminders under "On My Mac". with the exception of a couple which are in "MobileMe" (For some reason)
So, as I said at the beginning, I have just moved over to icloud, and I did it in this way:
On My Mac, I went to iCloud in System Prefs, I entered my iTunes email and password, and let it do the rest itself, I didn't change anything else, I notied that Mail & Notes wasn't sync'd by default.
I did the same on my iphone and my Ipad.(Apart from a few dupes in my Calendar, all is fine on that front)
Next I thought... What about my notes? how do I get those to sync? so, I went in to the tick box on the Mac, and its now asking me to choose an iCloud @me.com account? am I right in thinking you can only do this with a @me.com account? and if so, what woudl be the best thing to do here?
Only a guess here, but I guess I could use my @me.com email and password and then move all my notes over from "On My Mac" to "MobileMe" ?
Much appreciated if anyone can get their head around how I have come to this.
    Thanks!

What do you mean "let it do the rest itself"?  Did you browse to mobileme.com and go throught the process of upgrading from MobileMe to iCloud?
