Non-iPod Mp3 - Help!

I have a Samsung MP3 player and have iTunes downloaded to my PC. Can anyone point me to a thread or to instructions that explain what steps I need to follow to export podcasts to my MP3 player? Thanks in advance

You probably just need to drag the podcasts from Windows Explorer over to the Samsung icon.
Podcasts are located in this folder on Win XP, if you're using iTunes defaults:
C:\Documents and Settings\ username \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\Podcasts
Doesn't the Samsung player have directions with it? Or a website that has help?

  • NOn ipod MP3 player with windows

How do I get my iTunes downloads to my non-ipod MP3 player. I tried setting the download to the player drive but that doesn't work. Since files are downloaded with an .m4p extension I can't use that file. I'm sure the files are set up so they can't be copied but I should be able to download directly to the mp3 player.

The purchased downloads are in protected AAC format, that is ALL the store sells. The downloads can't be directly changed to mp3. In order to change to mp3, you will have to burn your purchase to an audio CD, use the audio CD to re-import into iTunes as mp3. Welcome to discussions!

  • Non-ipod mp3 player for Mac?

    Hey everyone,
I was just seeing if any of you guys had suggestions about getting a mp3 player for my Mac. I'm looking to get one about 4GB or so, and was wondering what ones are compliant for Mac?
    Thanks in advance!

The iPod nano comes to mind. I doubt many if any others will mount unless they just mount as a USB 2.0 drive and you can drag files to them independent of a program to do that. Read the O/S required specs before you buy, but I bet they are all around the same price point, the nano works with mac/iTunes, why bother?

  • Non-iPod MP3 players?

I work in a middle school and we'd like to experiment with distributing audio books via MP3 players. We don't want to purchase iPods for various reasons. Does anyone have a suggestion regarding good MP3 players that have these features: some type of LCD display, USB, can play MP3s as well as files from Audible?

I believe Audible has a list of compatible players. I think they also sometimes have specials. You might want to start there.

  • Using a non-iPod MP3 player with iTunes??

i have some other brand MP3 player (not iPod). how do i make it show up in my iTunes so i can drag and drop songs into this MP3 player? or can i not? it just shows up like a hard drive on my desktop now.thanks.

Sorry, but you probably can't. Other than an iPod, iTunes has only ever supported a handful of other players, and I believe all of them have been discontinued. So unless your player's manufacturer offers an iTunes plugin, you'll probably have to use your player's software (or whatever method it uses to load tracks).

  • Non-iPod device and iTunes

Is it possible to sync a non-iPod .mp3 player with iTunes. I use windows XP. So far, I've been unsuccessful. Hate to let the gift cards my kids got go to waste. Thanks.

    Thanks, this helped me too.
I'm not surprised that the folks at Apple refused to allow other mp3 players to work with their program.
They didn't learn the lesson of propietary software back when everyone in the planet was still asking "Who's Bill Gates?" and PC's took the lion's share of the market.
Who knows what the computer world would have been like if Apple allowed other companies to make their computers the way IBM did?

  • "Synch" or Download to NON-iPOD device

Is there a way to download music or podcasts from iTunes to a non-iPOD MP3 player or device.

If your device shows up in My Computer, and all you need to do to add music to the player is put files on it, then you can use iTunes. You can't really "Sync", but you can put music on it.
Connect the device and open up the drive/folder you want to put music in. In iTunes, simply select the songs you want to put on the device, and drag them into the folder you have open. The files will be copied to the device.
Also, for some devices, people have made plugins for iTunes.

I have copied my CDs into iTunes  (currently running v11) to play on my iPod.  I have now bought a non Apple mp3 player to use when I am out running.  How can I copy the many tracks I want from iTunes onto the new player?
    Thanks

I tried Notpod but can't get it to work.  Part of the problem, I suspect, is that I can't create a folder on my player (a SanDisk Clip+).  I also can't do this in Windows Explorer.  Whilst I can see the Clip+ in Explorer, the option to create a new folder isn't there.
The error mesag I get in Notpod is:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application.  If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.  If you click Quit the application will close immediately.
InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelctedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex"
Then, when I plug the Clip+ into a USB port, iTunes thinks it is my iPad - which is because, I guess, Notpod hasn't worked.
I can drag and drop files from the Music folder where my iTunes tracks are stored onto the Clip+ and they get converted but I'd rather synchronise a Playlist from iTunes if I can.
    Thanks anyone who can help

  • ITunes + Non-Apple MP3 player?

Is there any way to sync a non-apple MP3 player with iTunes?

I use a freeware app called SyncTunes with my Walkman mobile phone. The app works with any MP3 player that mounts as a USB drive - and works extremely well at that, IMO.
Which makes me believe that Apple should work on opening up iTunes to non-iPod USB-based MP3 players. More and more devices - from SanDisk, from mobile phone manufacturers, and now in portable GPS units like the Garmin Nuvi 360 - incorporate this capability. (Personally, this means the iPod's days are numbered...)

  • ITunes & non-iPod music players

All of the music on my Mac has been imported using iTunes. Does this mean that the music will only play on an iPod since they seem to be mp4 and not mp3 files? Is there any way to convert the files on export, once they have been imported as AAC or mp4 files? What do all of the letters and numbers mean anyway?
    Confused

I'm sorry Peas, I'm just a little confused. You have never exactly said what you are trying to do. Are you trying to convert your files in iTunes to play on a non-iPod player? If so, you can do that by changing your import option to mp3, click on "convert to", like you have apparently already done. When you do the "convert to" process, you will indeed, end up with duplicates. Your original file & the file that was generated when you did the "convert to" procedure. Now, you can' t make a direct format change on your purchased music (,m4p) because of the protection on the file. As I said earlier, you can burn any purchased music to an audio CD in iTunes, the audio CD can be used like a store bought CD.
    EDIT:
The other thing that has got me confused is your statement about only having the files on your computer & you no longer have the original Cd's. Are you trying to backup your music, is that what the real issue is? If you haven't backed up your music, I would strong suggest you do so, because what if something happens to your computer or iPod? Your music will be history & that will not be a happy day.

I tend to make my playlists right on my ipod. This did not happen for the last 2 years. Just started recently. Did get a new computer recently.

That is because you got a new computer. You can only sync all media from one syncing computer. You can sync from any computer to iPod using the manual method but that does not sync from iPod to computer.

  • MY 8 month old might have corrupted my ipod.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My 8 month old son corroded my USB cable by chewing on the ipod connector. Not realizing this, I come in, plug in my ipod, and get an error that the USB cable is corrupted. I unplug ipod and look at the cable. The part that goes into the ipod is green and crusty...definitely corroded. SO, i go buy a new cable: Dynex dock cable from Best Buy. Just plugged it in, and nothing happened, except my pc is charging my ipod. But no communication from the computer to the ipod. Nothing in windows, or itunes. My ipod still works fine in any other playback dock, it just doesn't allow data transfers from pc to ipod. HELP!!! Is my ipod f'd???????

If you dare you could try cleaning the connector on the ipod - I would try some denatured alcohol on a tiny bit of clean cloth over the end of a really small screwdriver or knife. Carefully wipe both sides of the male connector blade that you can see in the connector port.
You could also try simply plugging /unplugging the cable many times - the wiping action may clean the crud off. Blow on the connectors or use compressed air while you are doing it for good measure.
If you are near an Apple store you could take it to them and have them try it with an Apple brand cable - that may have a better chance of making good contact.
Good luck. I knew baby spit was nasty but I didn't think it was actually corrosive!

It looks like the app is not currently in the App Store, I can't find it in the UK nor US stores.
