Non OEM Cartridges in Dell 3100cn

Windows Test Print - sB's printer.pdfIn reading several posts to this forum it is apparent that the non Dell toner cartridges.  I could kick myself because I've been having problems.  It seems that the toner is leaking.
I'm going to attach a copy of a test page - you might be able to see that one inch all the way down the page there are cyan smudges of toner.  I followed the steps in another post to clean the ROS (Raster Optical Scanner) and that helped some.
Do you think if I yanked all of the non-Dell cartridges and replaced them with Dell cartridges and the printer cleaned out good that the cyan smudges would go away.
I'm toast here at work for making the decision to use non-OEM cartridges.  Any assistance or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

jchpnc,
Your  printer should be fine with Dell Cartridges. I did the same thing with my printer and had the same problem. I use Dell Cartridges now and have had no problems.

  • HP6700 officejet, Can you use non-oem ink cartridges???

Hi,  I recently got a new printer last year and I recently purchased some non HP ink cartridges.  I changed the color cartridges, the printer recognized the cartridges and went through the install process.  Everything looked good.  When I go to print, I get an error saying there is non-oem ink cartridges installed.  I click on the info button and it tells me that non-oem ink will void the warranty.  I am fine with that, I just want to be able to print.  Is there any way to get past this or can on only use HP ink in a 6700 officejet printer???
    Thanks

  • Using non OEM Print Cartridges.

I have just fitted non oem ink cartridges in my HP 6520 and they will only display in the ink levels on the printer front panel a question mark and through the printer software on the PC i get an exclamation mark, can this be bypassed or do i have to "guess"? "Genuine"HP Cartridges are so expensive, can anybody help?

You would need to take the issue up with the supplier of the third party cartridges.  HP has no way to tell the ink levels if they have not been properly programmed into the ink supplies or if the cartridge has been marked as previously used.

  • What is the diffrence between an OEM screen and a Non-Oem screen?

i wanted to buy a new screen for my ipod because my brother cracked it. so i was wondering wat was the difrence between an OEM and a non-OEM screen? like is there a diffrence on the pixels?

    Really.
I believe the OP was concerned about some fly-by-night outfit who makes a ten cent piece of replacement screen and markets it as "compatible with xxxx". The lack of quality and reduction in resolution/pixels could be expected there vs. an OEM screen where one expects the same quality as the original equipment had.
Yeah, that's a given.  The point is, OEM can be used two different ways.  One way is to say the parts are Apple branded.  Toshiba might make the part following specifications supplied by Apple, and then the part gets a label that says Apple.  In this case Apple is the OEM.
The other way is to say that the OEM is the company that makes the part for Apple.  In this second case, the factory could make a run of parts for the 'aftermarket' and use the term "OEM" in their add copy and not be guilty of fraud.
However, just because a Chinese vendor says their parts are "OEM," does not make it so.  In fact, I would think that only Foxconn and its suppliers could make that claim, and I seriously doubt Foxconn is dumping parts on eBay....

  • Is there a way to use a Dell 3100cn Printer with this OS?

I get a error message saying that it is too old.
"You can't open the application Dell 3100cn Installer because the Classic environment is no longer supported."
I can't really buy a new printer, plus this is a great printer that still works just fine. I am a brand new Apple user as of today! Apple wins another disgruntled Bill Gates product user - I finally have had it, but I'm finding that the learning curve is steep for me. Anyway - about the printer - I still have original install CD with the drivers, but I get a message that says that this system cannot support it. This simply cannot be, especially after spending what I did on a printer - I shouldn't have to go out and buy a new one should I?
    HELP!
By the way - I have the latest version of the LION OS, whatever that is. I have no idea where to find computer data - there is no "My Computer" option, so I'm lost for a while.

    Welcome to Mac!
I can answer a few of your questions.

Lion is the newest operating system for Mac, like how Windows 7 is on a PC.  "My Computer" on a mac is called  "Finder".  This is what is looks like:
I understand that moving from PC to Mac can be overwhelming.  I had to think about it for 2 years before I finally decided to switch.  I used PC's from 1993-2011 and after only using a mac for 6 months I feel comfortable using them.  Here is a  link to help you adjust: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/
Also, if the system is saying that the printer is not supported, it is possible that it is too oudated to use on the new macs.  Technology moves very fast.  Hope this helps

  • Photosmart 7520 - Non-HP Cartridge Message

As of today, I have received 4,874 "Non-HP Cartridge(s)" messages from HP.  I consider this out and out harassment rather than reminders to use HP cartridges in the printer.  I am using Office Depot cartridges because the local Office Depot was out of HP 7520 cartridges when I needed them last September.  I tried the hard reset sequence suggested in an earlier post, but it did not work (I've received 12 messages from HP as I drafted this!).  If HP is trying to drive off customers, they are doing a fine job.  And at this point, on general principles, I can't envision buying genuine HP catrridges for the printer, or buying any other HP product in the future.  If anyone has any suggestions on how to make the messages stop (short of buying HP cartridges), please let me know.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

  • Premiere Pro 1.5 OEM to Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade non-OEM?

According to Adobe customer service chat, I was told that the serial number of my Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is an OEM version. I purchased it on eBay. Adobe informed me that is not liscensed to anyone and is not registered.
Adobe told me that when going from OEM to the Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade CD, my Premiere Pro will no longer be the OEM version.
    Is this true?
Also, I am able to upgrade OEM Premiere Pro 1.5 to non-OEM CS4. Anyone have experience with this?

You may have to first open the old project on a PC, as there was no Mac version for 1.5.

  • Dell 3100cn print registration issues

I have been having issues with my Dell 3100cn printing on cover stock.
When using my iMac, it has almost random results of page registration. This shift changes when printing from indesign, illustrator, to acrobat. & sometimes from print to print. It is not extremely off the page, but centering on a page even remotely close tends to be .25-.5 in shift.
I have all new and appropriate drivers and print through the MPF, but it seems to print fine from our pc 90% of the time. It prints regular stock fine. Any ideas?

Some printers provide a setting for selecting heavy stocks from the manual feed and cassettes. When you load the paper into the Dell, is there something on the control panel that lets you select the paper type or weight?
If not, check the driver. Under one of the paper settings there may be the option to select heavy paper instead of plain, which can adjust the speed of the feed and therefore the accuracy from pickup. Sometimes it also increases the temperature on the fuser (fixing unit) slightly to improve the toner bonding to the paper.
I would also check the specs for the printer. If you are using a paper stock that is outside the supported weight then no setting is going to help long term.

Oops. Too late. The marketing picture error notwithstanding, I would expect to see an error message (like when I connected my 3GS to my Acura iPod link which worked FINE with my 2G and now it doesnt - GRRRR). I've only used it once to sync, but that sync worked fine and it seemed to be working fine.
[begin rant] I really dont understand the whole dock connector incompatibilty thing. I mean, its not like Apple had to wrestle 3 other companies to set a standard - they OWN the standard. Those car iPod adapters are EXPENSIVE, and a dock connector should be a dock connector. Having to replace my desktop chargers, car radio interfaces, night table docks, car chargers, and other accessories from one iPhone to the next is EXPENSIVE. [/end rant]

raskit: You can never be 00% sure with eBay, and you'll always take your chances. I doubt the seller is going to be around in a years time, let alone 6 months time, should you have problems with it. And by that time of course you will have left feedback for them.
The other problem with Lithium Ion is that once the battery is manufactured the clock is ticking. It will only last around 3 years from manufacture date at peak performance. Not so much a big problem with the Micro where any component shouldn't be more than a few months old.

  • Dell 3100cn printing at slow speed only

I have a Dell 3100cn from about 3 years ago and a new MBP with OS X Leopard. On my previous MBP with Tiger i was able to go into the printer settings and select only black and white printing, which greatly increased the print speed (around 25ppm I think). Now that i have Leopard, I can't find a setting to switch the printer between colour and B&W, so it always prints as though the document is colour even when the document is just a B&W image or text, which really slows it down (around 5 ppm). I haven't installed any Dell drivers. The forums seem to say there aren't any or something. Are there drivers that will help me?

update your power manager software and see whether that helps.
