Non-OEM dock for 3GS?

Anyone have experience with non-OEM docks for the 3G or 3GS like [this one|http://cgi.ebay.com/iPhone-3G-3GS-Dock-Cradle-Charger-Original-USB-CableW0QQitemZ260436522076QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3ca339f45c&_trk sid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1240%7C293%3A1%7C294 %3A50#ht_4062wt1167]?
It's 1/3 the price of the Apple model. But is it safe?

Humm. A 3GS dock with a first generation iPhone. I wouldn't buy it based on the picture if I were you.
Oops. Too late. The marketing picture error notwithstanding, I would expect to see an error message (like when I connected my 3GS to my Acura iPod link which worked FINE with my 2G and now it doesnt - GRRRR). I've only used it once to sync, but that sync worked fine and it seemed to be working fine.
[begin rant] I really dont understand the whole dock connector incompatibilty thing. I mean, its not like Apple had to wrestle 3 other companies to set a standard - they OWN the standard. Those car iPod adapters are EXPENSIVE, and a dock connector should be a dock connector. Having to replace my desktop chargers, car radio interfaces, night table docks, car chargers, and other accessories from one iPhone to the next is EXPENSIVE. [/end rant]

  • Purchased 2 non-oem chargers for Nano 5, neither worked...what's up?

Bought my Nano 5 couple of weeks ago after my Classic fatally crashed. Of course, the charger I had for the Classic did not work with the Nano 5.
I purchased off eBay a Wall Charger with direct line to the Nano, that didn't work so I bought a Wall Charger with the USB charging feature, that didn't work either.
I thought it was the iPod so to test it I went to the store and paid the $30.00(!) for an Apple brand that works just fine.
Is there something going on with Charging the Nano 5 that I don't know about, or am I just getting bad products off eBay (2 in a row!)
    Please help, thanks.

What exactly did they change in the Nano that won't let it be charged
Nothing. Perhaps the problem lies is that the wall charges you purchased are from China?
    I purchased from China
The wall charges should look like !http://i2.cc-inc.com/images/enideamall/en_banner/174x244/irocks_poweradapter_1747x244mm.jpg!
Check on Apple's online store website and Macmall's website.

    Hi and welcome..
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Make sure your iPad is recognized in iTunes under Devices on the left.
Select the Summary tab then click Update.
Just to make sure your iPad software is up to date.

  • Can I use the ipad keyboard Dock for pairing with a non Apple laptop?

I am thinking of getting the keyboard dock for my IPad 2.
I also have an IBM laptop with blutooth. Can I use the iPad dock as a keyboard for the IBM?
    Thanks

If you're referring to this dock:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC533LL/B?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE&mco=MTg1ODE1Mjc
it is not a Bluetooth keyboard so can't be used with the laptop.  And the keyboard dock was originally designed for the curved back of the iPad1.  So while it does appear to work with the iPad2, some people report that it's a little loose and sometimes get intermittent disconnections with the connector.
As for Bluetooth keyboards, some can only be paired to one device.  To use with two computers, you may have to un-pair from the first device, the re-pair to the second device.  Some keyboards can "switch" without un-pairing, but you have to research to ensure the model you want will do that.  Depending on your usage, it may be more worthwhile to get separate keyboards.

  • What is the diffrence between an OEM screen and a Non-Oem screen?

i wanted to buy a new screen for my ipod because my brother cracked it. so i was wondering wat was the difrence between an OEM and a non-OEM screen? like is there a diffrence on the pixels?

    Really.
I believe the OP was concerned about some fly-by-night outfit who makes a ten cent piece of replacement screen and markets it as "compatible with xxxx". The lack of quality and reduction in resolution/pixels could be expected there vs. an OEM screen where one expects the same quality as the original equipment had.
Yeah, that's a given.  The point is, OEM can be used two different ways.  One way is to say the parts are Apple branded.  Toshiba might make the part following specifications supplied by Apple, and then the part gets a label that says Apple.  In this case Apple is the OEM.
The other way is to say that the OEM is the company that makes the part for Apple.  In this second case, the factory could make a run of parts for the 'aftermarket' and use the term "OEM" in their add copy and not be guilty of fraud.
However, just because a Chinese vendor says their parts are "OEM," does not make it so.  In fact, I would think that only Foxconn and its suppliers could make that claim, and I seriously doubt Foxconn is dumping parts on eBay....
HINT:  China is notorious for producing counterfeit goods.

  • Premiere Pro 1.5 OEM to Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade non-OEM?

According to Adobe customer service chat, I was told that the serial number of my Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is an OEM version. I purchased it on eBay. Adobe informed me that is not liscensed to anyone and is not registered.
Adobe told me that when going from OEM to the Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade CD, my Premiere Pro will no longer be the OEM version.
    Is this true?
Also, I am able to upgrade OEM Premiere Pro 1.5 to non-OEM CS4. Anyone have experience with this?

You may have to first open the old project on a PC, as there was no Mac version for 1.5.

  • HP6700 officejet, Can you use non-oem ink cartridges???

Hi,  I recently got a new printer last year and I recently purchased some non HP ink cartridges.  I changed the color cartridges, the printer recognized the cartridges and went through the install process.  Everything looked good.  When I go to print, I get an error saying there is non-oem ink cartridges installed.  I click on the info button and it tells me that non-oem ink will void the warranty.  I am fine with that, I just want to be able to print.  Is there any way to get past this or can on only use HP ink in a 6700 officejet printer???
    Thanks

  • Recommendations for speaker/charge dock for new iPod Nano 5th generation 8g

I have searched and searched for a speaker/charging combo dock for my new iPod Nano 5th generation 8gb player. None of them specifty they work with this latest iPod version.
    Any recommendations?

I think I have the same question more or less. I bought a cheap Best Buy memorex speaker docking station and I need a male to female IPOD cable so that I can Play the radio and charge the IPOD at the same time as well of course have the head phone jack plugged into the Line In that acts as the antenna.
So if I had the Male to Female cable My dock would charge and the cable to the line in acts as a Antenna. I think this makes sense..

raskit: You can never be 00% sure with eBay, and you'll always take your chances. I doubt the seller is going to be around in a years time, let alone 6 months time, should you have problems with it. And by that time of course you will have left feedback for them.
The other problem with Lithium Ion is that once the battery is manufactured the clock is ticking. It will only last around 3 years from manufacture date at peak performance. Not so much a big problem with the Micro where any component shouldn't be more than a few months old.

  • Coverage for 3GS vs. 3G

I gave my wife my 3G and I got the new 3GS. The coverage side by side is much worse to non-existant with my 3GS while my 3G still gets at least 3 or so bars on the edge network. Am I doing something wrong? Do I turn off 3G when not in a 3G area. I tried that but didn't work. HELP!

    Possibly not...but looking that way...
Your not supposed to move SIM cards between iPhones...so for the best result get a new SIM from AT&T...
But yes, if the phones are side by side and the signal is different then seems like it may just be a hardware issue...take it to Apple and have them check it out...
on both phones on the dial pad do this...press
3001#12345# then hit send...this takes you into Field Test mode...now you'll see numbers next to the AT&T icon instead of signal bars...
The lower the better (closest to zero)
mine right now shows -73 which means very strong signal... however -95 would be low signal and like -110 would be very poor signal...
On both phones in this mode what do they read???

  • Non OEM Cartridges in Dell 3100cn

Windows Test Print - sB's printer.pdfIn reading several posts to this forum it is apparent that the non Dell toner cartridges.  I could kick myself because I've been having problems.  It seems that the toner is leaking.
I'm going to attach a copy of a test page - you might be able to see that one inch all the way down the page there are cyan smudges of toner.  I followed the steps in another post to clean the ROS (Raster Optical Scanner) and that helped some.
Do you think if I yanked all of the non-Dell cartridges and replaced them with Dell cartridges and the printer cleaned out good that the cyan smudges would go away.
I'm toast here at work for making the decision to use non-OEM cartridges.  Any assistance or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    jchpnc,
Your  printer should be fine with Dell Cartridges. I did the same thing with my printer and had the same problem. I use Dell Cartridges now and have had no problems.

  • Does anyone know of a suitable dock for the new iPad Air?

After purchasing a new iPad Air on Friday, I searched for a charging/syncing dock from Apple.  There are none!  Then, I searched the Internet for 3 days, and the choices are few.
Does anyone know of a good and sturdy dock for the new iPad Air?  I have very little desk space and always buy an Apple dock for my iPhones and iPads.
Is it possible that the dock for the iPad 4 could be used for the new iPad Air?  Currently, I have an iPad Third Generation and its own dock, which is 30 pins.  The available 8 pin adapter is not sturdy enough to put an iPad Air on.
For my iPhone 5, I have a Twelve South High Rise dock (because of the case), but it won't do for an iPad.
    Any ideas?

This isn't going to be super helpful because I don't know of any by name, but have you looked through App Store? I am almost positive you will come across at least one in there. This assumes you are running software version 2.0.

  • Non-OEM install disk?

What is a non-OEM install disk? I have various problems withmy computer and someone suggested I use this to do a repair install, though I'm not sure I know what that is or whether I have one.

Something which did not come with your computer, A retail version to be precise. Windows 7 has a feature which allows you to make a repair disc which will allow you to use its recovery tools just like the non-OEM disk.
follow the below given steps in  your computer  and you should have one
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Create-a-system-repair-disc
    Hope this helps you out

Depending on how you created your account, "None" may or may not be an option. I believe it has something to do with whether the account was made through an App Store request or the regular iTunes Store. For example, my account allows no card but my father's doesn't allow there to be no card.
To change the card, go to your account settings and change the information to your new card, and hit save.
