Non planar mounted display glass + HomeButton stucks on the left

Im from Germany, so sorry for my bad english.
I have the new 3GS for now two weeks and the first thing that was remarkable on the phone was the display. It is not mounted very planar. The edge on the lower left comes up for ca. half a millimeter and the opposite on the upper right. The two other edges flush with the metal frame around it.
Another thing that is very different from my 2G model I used before is the handling of the home button. On the old one I could press it with a right or left spin, it went smoothly down all times. With the new one it stucks a bit on the left so I have to push it more on the right side. The left side seems to be mounted somere in or on the frame so it wont move into the phone.
These are two things of course that let me use the phone normally, but the are very annoying. My fingers always feel the sharp rim of the glass on the left and the button is not responding as good as my 2G did.
Do you thing I should ask Apple to send over a new one or first ask them to repair these problems? The "problem" I have is that the phone can be used of course, but it is not build how it should be.
I m very disappointed about the new model and of course annoyed now.
Any ideas?

Hi. Definitely doesn't sound normal to me. I have both the 3GS and 3G and experience none of the manufacturing out-of-spec that you describe of. I would request Apple to send a new one if they can't take a look at it at an Apple Store or certified Apple repair shop.

I understand the Deskjet 5150 carriage is stuck on the right hand side and won't move. I will do my best to assist you! Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. Next, try performing a hard reset on your printer.
After, performing this reset, I would try manually moving the carriage over to the left side. If this step doesn't work, then please follow this entire HP document on Paper Jam' Error Message Displays on the Computer.

How do I have a constant display of my bookmarks along the left side of the page as was possible in past editions of Firefox/

I previous versions you could have all of your bookmarks displayed down the left side of the page (I cannot recall the technical term for this). With this version when I open bookmarks I get something called the library which looks like what I want but it's in it's own window which is not the way that it was in previous versions. How do I set up Firefox so that my page had my bookmarks always displayed. I do not like the toolbar option.

You can make the Bookmarks visible in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks or the Ctrl+B keyboard shortcut.
Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.

[SOLVED] Thunar - Mounted items don't appear on the left panel

Hey all, I'm using Openbox and Thunar, and I've recently hit upon a slight issue. The left-side part doesn't seem to bring up my CDs/USB drives.
I have a pipemenu for removable devices, and both CD's and USB items appear there (and I can open the USB from that after mounting) However the CD doesn't seem to do anything when I click mount, so really the only thing I can do is make a media player play it (Which is an issue when it's not a media CD!)
I have thunar-volman installed, but I guess I'm missing something a bit obvious here.
All the relevant checkboxes seem to be checked in File Manager Preferences... What else am I missing?

Displaying JFileChooser without icons on the left !!

Anyone???patience little one, 2 hours is but a blinking in the eye of the Jav.
The buttons are OS specific stuff... maybe you can't hide them, as they don't have the equivalent on other OS, and as such any code to do so would be meaningless on other platforms.
However, windows seems to only display those buttons in certains contexts, so maybe its possible...

Palm Desktop displaying charcaters too far to the left

Hi all,
Wonder if anyone has experienced this problem.
When the first character of an item (task, calendar entry, etc) is "W" it is not displayed correctly. The left most part of the character appears to be cut off. If I put another character in front, say "xW", then it is displayed correctly. It is like it is justifying too far to the left.
I am running desktop 4.1.4 on windows XP.
Any ideas?

Firefox startup only displays my gmail page in the left side, 1 inch wide,not fullscreen as before

upon startup, computer shows icons as normal, then when I double click on mozilla to open browser, and expect my gmail page to display, I only see a 1 inch wide vertical veiw of page. I can drag the border over acrross the screen to display entire page as usually seen, but this is not right. What could have caused this? Everything was ok until a day ago...

Do these horizontal lines appear when you copy too? I ask because copy and scan use the same hardware components, if the issue occurs when you copy too there is indeed an issue with the printer hardware. If the issue does not occur when you copy, the problem is isolated to the software.
In any case, it seems you have done all of the hardware troubleshooting; Horizontal Lines on a Copy/Scan. If you determine the issue is a software problem with scanning alone, let me know and we can go from there.
If it is a hardware issue, you can try a couple of things in addition to what you have already done, but if the issue continues, I suggest calling us.
Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute. While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in.

Suddenly my history is displaying in a column along the left panel of my browser. I can't make it disappear. How do I get rid of it?

It's a blue column that has a search box and Today and Yesterday on it. It stretches all the way down my screen. There's no visible X to get rid of it. Suggestions?

I can't actually see what you have installed other than what the forum software reveals via the link called "System Details" (top right of this forum). However, it doesn't update, so if you removed it, then I can't see that.
Anyway, it sounds like the problem has been resolved.

Song name category column stuck on the left. I want artist's name first.

Hello. Somehow my default view in iTunes (the latest version) has come up with the song name on the very left, rather than artist. I want to sort by Artist, then songname, etc. I can't drag the songname column away from the first position or drag a category in front of it. I've tried deleting all of the columns, but songname can't be deleted. I've tried selecting a different category, but it stacks up new categoryt names to the right. I can reposition those categories. This is driving me crazy. Can anyone help? Thanks.

That is so lame. I read in another thread that the reason the Name field can't be moved is that it's the database index field. Well, the index field's position doesn't matter in a 'normal' database. You can format a report any way you like, regardless whether you're reporting the index field. What a crock.
Apple needs to fix this, pronto. Thought I had a buddy about to switch to iTunes (and ultimately a Mac) but this one thing ****** him off so much he'll probably never look at another Apple product. And he's right - that is just plain ignorant. Never thought I'd see the day a PC app made more sense than an Apple one. I'm very disillusioned.

How do I remove the display glass on an imac7.1 to replace the optical drive?

I have a 2007 iMac 24inch which has a bad optical drive. How do I remove the display glass to get to the optical drive?

Replacing anything in the newer designed iMacs is not a job for someone inexperienced or a novice.
If you don't like the idea of having to use an extrernal optical drive, It might be best to take your iMac to an Apple store or authorized Apple repair center for repair/replacement.
If you damage anything else while trying to do this replacement yourself, it will cost you even more cash to repair at a repair center later.

Stuck in the Desk Cradle mode

My samsung fascinate seems to be stuck in the Desk Cradle app. Or
more precisely, when I hit the Home soft key, it takes me to the Desk Cradle,
rather than the page with all my widgets like it used to do. If I hit the soft
key that take you back a step, it does take me back to my true home page. The
display is also stuck in the rotated position.
I've tried pulling the battery, no help. The phone will not even turn on unless
it is plugged in.
Anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks to the Community Members who responded. I would like to add some additional troubleshooting steps, since you have already tried a soft reset. I would recommend a master reset of the device.
***Important***This setting erases all data from your phone, including your Google or other email account settings, system and application data and settings, and downloaded applications. It will not erase current system software and bundled applications stored on an optional installed memory card, such as music or photos. For this reason, please ensure the data on your device is backed up before performing the master reset.
Below are the steps on how to perform the master reset on the Fascinate.
Select Menu
Select Settings
Select Privacy
Select Factory Data Reset

Light Bleed, Stuck Pixels, Small Hair Behind Display Glass

Today I received a new 15 inch MBP as offered as a replacement due to warrantee issues on my previous machine. The first thing I noticed after booting the new machine was significant light leakage coming from the bottom of the display as well as multiple dead pixels (black in color) and some dirt or hairs stuck behind the displays glass. Will I be able to get this new machine swapped just as if it was a new machine? I know I have a brand new warrantee. I emailed the customer care agent I was in contact with but I'm sure I wont hear back till tomorrow. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

i am aware of cases where apple has replaced computers for things like dust/dirt behind the screen as well as dead pixels and light leaks. the basic thing with getting a machine replaced for these reasons is that it effects basic use of the machine as per the DOA section of the agreement (on the apple site). i think in this case you can say that it effects your basic use of the machine because there are three issue that prevent you from seeing your display clearly.
you could also request a replacement for customer satisfaction reasons if they do not agree that it is DOA and just say that you are not happy with the quality of the unit and that your other unit also had issues.
in order to qualify for a DOA you must report it to apple within 30 days of getting it, so i would call right away and request a replacement.

My ipod touch is stuck on the home screen, will not respond. Displays a gray background with the ipod logo, sliders are unresponsive. Bottom slider displays many different languages, none of them english. Maybe a virus or malware?? Restoring with itunes does not work, neither does holding down the home/sleep buttons to reset.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Foreign Object stuck to the inside glass of my new 24" iMac

Hi -
I received my new 24" iMac today - and to my bitter disappointment when I turned it on, there's a 4mm black object (looks like a piece of black foam/sponge) stuck on the inside glass of my display. I can see the display behind it, which is absolutely fine, no dead pixels. It's stuck itself in the middle of the screen, approx 2 inches down from the isight camera!
It seems to be something lightweight/affixed by static electricity as it moves slightly when i rub the glass gently with the supplied polishing cloth over it -
What do i do??!!
Most service centres here in Melbourne (Australia) have a minimum 1 week turn around to even look at it!

Thanks for the info - It was purchased through the Apple Online Store.
After I spoke with you, someone from Apple called back to say that they were going to replace it - I'd taken photos of the issue and emailed them through originally.
- it's going to take a couple of weeks to get the new machine as apparently they're all shipping from Asia (Had a very impatient wait with the apple & TNT parcel tracker widget!) - and I also got a 500gb hdd put in as well, but they're happy for me to use this one until the new one arrives which is great, then there's apparently going to be a couple of days between them picking the old machine up and delivering the new one.
Everyone at Apple has been so helpful and responsive though, I've been really impressed with the service.

Is there something between my display glass and LCD?

I can't tell if this is a dead pixel, stuck pixel, or there is something in between my display glass. I think it is something between my display glass and LCD because when i turn my computer screen off, it appears like a little white speck and when I look at a black screen it appears as a little white speck, as you can see attatched. What can I do about it? This is a mid 2012 MacBook Pro.

A new Mac is in warranty for 1 year from the date of purchase.
You may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.
