Non recognition of USB

Due to a virus, I needed to erase all my files including iTunes to clean the hard drive. When I tried to reinstall my iPod, the USB connector is not recognized, although my iPod is recharging.

I have tried mouse. keyboard and a generic USB stick with a LED. None of the USB ports work on the replicator. Everything works fine when connected directly to the W530. The replicator ports must not have power because the LED doesn't come on.

None of my usb flash drives are mounting

OS X 10.6.8 - None of my usb flash drives are mounting. They don't show up in disk utility either. System proflier does show the flash drives. I've run disk warrior and the flash drives show there as well. I've tried all of the usb outlets with several flash drives and none of them show up. I can use the same usb outlets to use my wireless keyboard, mouse and also my ipad.
Finders preferences are all checked to show items on desktop.
One of my flash drives I tried several times and finally got this screen message. "System extension cannot be used The system extension "/System/Library/Extension/IOStorageFamily.Kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update. Non of my other 6 flash drives mount and they do not receive any screen message.
I've also run repair disk permissions several times and the it says permissions repaired so I run it again and the same issued it said it was repaired, it lists again. I've done this several times with the same results.

try this
- boot from your original system disc
- plug one of your usb flash drives
- see if installer software could use usb flash drives as target for install
( testing your usb flash drive from a know good system software )
- DO not perform install on flash drive , just need to know if flash is usable
if it could , re-install your system or if it was updated from a previous version re-install 10.6.8 combo update

High-Powered USB vs Non High-powered USB ?

I have a new shuffle(512 mb). I have successfully loaded the itunes software on my 2 year old Dell PC. I have 2 USB ports(500 ma) on the back of the tower.
I have plugged the ipod into a USB and itunes has recognized it. I have successfully uploaded several playlists.
I have however received window messages that a high-power device is plugged into a non high-power USB port. I plugged my ipod in for charging and the status light is amber. How do I know if the ipod is being charged by this non high-power USB port?

From your description it is very clear that the USB ports in your computer is a low powered USB 1.1 port, to charge the battery of an iPod shuffle it should be connected to a USB 2.0 port.
You may plug in the iPod shuffle to any computer which has a High powered USB port for a maximum of 4 hours for a good charge. Right now the iPod shuffle is in low charge.
Otherwise you may buy an USB power adaptor from Apple Store.

On my 6 month old HP Pavilion Notebook none of the USB ports work. In Device Manager it shows the USB attached devices as unknown. This computer hasn't had any HP updates since I bought it new.

Right Click on all devices which are recognized as unknown and Choose Uninstall one by one.
Please ensure you also do this for any and every item under Universal serial bus controllers as well. After this restart your computer and you should be good to go.

Hi. I have an iPod mini and a Window XP desktop. I've checked my computer as stated in the forum. I know I have a USB 2.0 port according to one of the posts I've read, but I guess it's not a high speed LOL. So I was wondering if it takes more time to fully recharge the iPod mini with a non High-Speed USB Hub than it does with the High-Speed USB Hub.

GS70 2QE - Help needed.... non of my USB ports work :(

Hi guys and gyals...
First time posting here and I wish it was in a positive light but unfortunatley I have an error on my laptop thats preventing me from using it.
So I purchased a GS70 2QE with 970m and 4720 processor. I was very happy for the first two days with its performance until the time I had to use the USB ports. I realise that non of them work at all. Im normally quite good at solving tech issues but this one is going beyond me. Ive done updates on all intel/windows/nvidia drivers as far as I can tell, plus Ive checked the BIOS for usb settings and they are all enabled. Ive switched off the power saving for usb function as well as doing TWO complete reinstalls of windows and still I have no usb.
On the device manager all usb devices seem errorless except one... 'unknown USB device (link in compliance mode)', might I add that nothing is plugged in at this time. Clicking on this brings up the following:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
The SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable/enable from device manager to recover."
Ive attempted to uninstall all usb devices and reboot yet windows just reinstalls the same things and I get the same issue.
Now unfortunatley MSI arent so great. Ive called their UK support number 4 times and its just rang through after 30 mins each time. I have also sent an email to support.... no response.... What the hell is this all about... when I purchase a machine thats this expensive I kinda expect some support value.
Anyway Im in limbo now, cant work, cant game, cant do anything but browse the net with my trackpad. Other than this issue Im happy with the laptop.

Im on win 8.1 out of the box. On 8.1 page theres no drivers for usb 3.0. Now I know there is a problem whereby intel havent released drivers for usb 3.0, all drivers are being given by microsoft as I understand, and the only work around is to use win 7 drivers that are edited. Now I have tried this and while the extensibile host controller accepts the new driver it still doesnt make the ports work. Im hoping that this issue with intel and usb 3.0 is the problem as I would like to solve this out as a software problem as opposed to sending it off for a hardware fix.
After your post I downloaded the win7 usb 3.0 drivers and eventually edited them as per this page:

Tiger Upgrade - No recognition of USB ADSL Modem

After upgrading to Tiger I had some problems with my internal hard drive (discussed elsewhere). As a safety measure I decided to make my external drive a boot drive and successfully installed Tiger. During installation I used the option to transfer all of the files and settings etc from my original boot drive and everything appears to have been transferred correctly except that the USB ADSL modem no longer synchronises (only the power light is illuminated on the modem, no DSL light) nor is recognised by 'Internet connect' or the System Preferences 'Network' settings. These show only the internal dial up modem and offer as alternatives only firewire or ethernet (not USB). On inspection, all of the relevant files appear to exist on my external drive (ie seems to be an exact copy of my internal drive) but I cannot connect to the internet. When I restart using my internal boot drive, everything is back to normal and I am immediately able to connect to the internet. I want to erase my internal drive to clear its problems and reinstall Tiger etc, but don't dare to do so until my external drive is functioning properly (including the internet connection). Any ideas?

Many thanks for your help. I did not specifically upgrade the modem driver, but there is not a problem with my internal (normal) boot drive, so the driver seems to be okay. The only problem is that, even though I seem to have an identical set of software on my external boot drive, I cannot get to synchronise the modem (no DSL light) when running on the external drive.
However, all this will cease to be a problem once I connect my new router using ethernet. Unfortunately, I do not have any instructions on connecting using ethernet and have not used ethernet before. I uderstand that it is important to do things in the correct sequence, but do not know what that sequence is. I do know the connection code and password for my current ISP, but as they are not the suppliers of the router, they may not be able to guide me on the connection sequence. Are you able to help?

Slow recognition of USB 128 jumpdisk

my 9th Mac is a powerbook G4 alu, and it seems to take at least twice the time to find USB devices, especially the jumpdisk I use, than the Dell thing I got at work. Anyone an idea what can cause this?

Recharging using non-HP micro USB

Is it possible to recharge the TouchPad via a micro USB cable from another manufacturer?
When I try to do this from empty, I just get the red battery symbol appearing on the screen and a message saying that to recharge reliably I should use HP's charger.

The if the generic charger can provide 10W of power to the Touchpad you should be ok, but using a HP charger guarantees that it works.

Non-networked, maybe USB boot for SunRay terminal?

I have set up SunRay terminals before, and have a current system running several in a multi-head configuration. The problem I am having is that I need to move my system to a new location, which will be on a shared network. I am not concerned with the bandwidth, as the network is a full Gig-E network, but I will not have the ability (Because of intervening switches and routers) to control the DHCP on the network.
I was wondering if there is any way to hard-code the boot information into the SunRay terminal- tell it what its IP address is, and where to get its boot files? Or (Even better) allow it to get it's boot files and such from a lock USB key in the back?
I currently have Sunray 1 and 1G models, but would not be opposed to upgrading if this is possible with a newer model.

just upload the GUI firmware to your sunrays DTU. Then access the gui with stop+m or ctrl+pause+m
utfwadm -a -A -N network -f /opt/SUNWut/lib/firmware_gui
this command will make the GUI firmware for all DTUs

Broadband username-non recognition

I have my e-mail from BT.com giving me my BT Total Broadband username. My hub and e-mail has been connected and working for nearly two years.
However when I try to log in to MyBT or anything to do with my Broadfband package I simply get the message that nobody with my username is recognised, even though I am simply copying my username from the e-mail sent to me by BT. That means I cannot get into any of the online help facilities, and when I ring the help number it is impossible to get anyone to reply.
Before I abandon BT altogether can anybody advise me how to deal with this problem and get in touch with a human being who might help to resolve it?

Your user login for MyBT is not normally the same, its whatever you chose when you registered for MyBT.
This has to be done separately, its not automatic, as some people simply have their phone accounts on there, and not broadband.

11i FSG Reports - Non recognition of reversal when displaying entered cur

I created an FSG report in which i was able to get 3 columns, the first one stands for GL Balances in LKR (Functional currency) and the next two columns stands for USD and GBP (Entered Currency)
To get the two columns in entered currency i created a Column Set in which i parameterized the last two columns with two control values and adopted these control values when defining the Report. The Accounting Combinations were given to the row set for the first column and the Column Set for the second & third columns. By this i was able to get a report which showed the total balance in Functional Currency and two other columns to display journals entered in a foreign currency to the same account (USD and GBP).
However, after reversing one of the earlier Journal Entries i posted in GBP, the relevant column in the Report did not get updated. The Functional Currency GL balance was updated.

LCD Calibaration and Printer Non-recognition

Hopefully, some of you who are printers can help me get my new LCD and HP wideformat printer speaking to each other. With my old CRT monitor, there was never a problem--beautiful colors every time.
I was encouraged to have the LCD calibrated for better color compatibility,and I installed "eye-one display 2". However, according to the HP tech, the "monitor is RGB and the jet printer is CMYK" and there can't be any coordination.
I can't accept that. The deskjet printer (HP Photosmart 830 0) is not printing for final production, but for proofs which supposedly give me some value indications of the graphics made in AI 10, which are then separated and given to the commercial printer. Granted, he'll work from the discs I give him, not the printouts from the deskjet.
There must be hundreds using LCD's now,and who also have installed color calibration of some kind, and hopefully, someone can enlighten me on how to get these two coordinated. The LCD looks clear, and bright, but the printouts are dull, grayed and light. This is extremely frustrating....thanks so much in advance.............mm

Well, the HP people don't know their stuff. Of course some level of calibration is possible, but it needs to be tackled on both ends. When you calibrate the monitor, you need to calibrate the printer, which with your equipment is not possible. You would need a different version of the eye-one that supports this. However, not all is lost. there are a few things you can do:
- print a reference sheet with pure colors (Red, Green,Blue, Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Orange,greyscale Ramp etc.)
- turn off the printer's automatic color management
- dial in manual color percentages
Rinse-repeat the above steps until it looks halfway right. This by all means should also include any color profile settings in Illu. Another way to approach the problem would e.g. be to rasterize the output for proof printing in Photoshop and have a stack of adjustment layers do the calibration. Once you have a proper setting, you could always have this as a stock template. Lastly, of course the obvious solution is to request a calibration template from your print houses, print it on your hp and have them measure out a CMYK color profile on their colorimeters. You could then install these custom profiles on your machine as the print target.

Some days it works and most of the time it doesn't. I have the latest upgrades for Yosemite.

It seems unlikely to be your iMac given that all the ports are working, but you could try the Apple Hardware Test.
