Non restoring phone in recovery mode

My iphone is in recovery mode and says that itunes says it can't restore due to error 4013... while trying to restore, the iphone screen shows what looks like lines of code across the top of the screen and then freezes. This is when the error appears. What can fix this?

There's another couple of discussions on this. Some suggest disabling your virus protection software, others suggest holding both buttons down as iTunes etc etc. Nothing works.

  • How to restore phone after recovery mode

my iphone 5c went into recovery mode after I tried to update to the new ios 8. when I clicked the update option in settings the screen went black then it turned back on with the plug into itunes sign. I plugged it into itunes on my mac and clicked restore but there was an error and it didn"t turn back on. I haven't been able to use my phone for about 4 hours. If you know how I can fix this and maybe how I can do it without completley restoring my iphone please help.     thankyou!

  • ITunes fails to restore phone in recovery mode "Error 4013"

Here is the deal, iPhone 5 was working all day today, then battery died and when I got home, I plugged it in, but it never powered up!
I hooked to my MacBook and did a hard reset and while holding down the home bottom, I plugged the USB in, iTunes has detected the iPhone in recovery mode, so I go into the restoring it process, iTunes extracts the software and starts looking for the iPhone, but never finds it. I'm outta warranty, please help!
    Error 4013

    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600-1629, 1643-1650, 2000-2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

  • Phone in recovery mode?

I just upgraded from the 1st gen to a 3gs 16g I came home to sync new to old, when i plugged in the old, i needed to update so i did it updated then said it was transfering, then when it got done instead of saying sync complete, it said phone in recovery mode, now on my screen i have a picture of a plug and the itunes symbol and the phone does NOTHING when i press the button..any ideas

Which phone is in recovery mode - the "old" 1st gen iPhone or the 3GS? What happens when you plug it back into iTunes? If iTunes sees it in recovery mode, follow the prompts to restore the phone. If not:
    1. Be sure you have the latest iTunes, 9.1.1
    2. Start iTunes
    3. Plug phone into a USB port on the computer, not an external hub or keyboard port.
    4. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes sees the phone in recovery mode.
    5. Follow the prompts to restore.

HOW DO I RESTORE MY PHONE IN RECOVERY MODE.... THERE IS SOMETHING YOU DO BY HOLDING HOME AND OFF BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME?

are you referring to dfu mode?  I'd only use that if a standard recovery didn't work for some reason.  It's more art than science so you may have to try it a few times...but here is the method I've found to work best:
DFU mode[1] is a state that you can put your iPhone into where it can interface with iTunes but does not load the iPhone operating system or boot loader (this is what really differs DFU mode from recovery mode). DFU stands for Device Firmware Update.
While connected to PC, running iTunes, hold down Home and Power( button on upper right edge) button for exactly 8 seconds.
Release the power button.  Continue to hold home button. Restore message will appear in iTunes.  Release home button. The device will be recognized by iTunes, but no display will appear on the device itself.  The lack of a display on the device will verify that it is in dfu mode.

  • Interrupted update put phone in recovery mode.

An interrupted update to iOS 7.1.1 put phone in recovery mode.  The phone told me to connect to iTunes and when I did it only gave me the option of restoring the phone.  The problem is though, that the phone hadn't been backed up in awhile and not at all to the computer I had to connect it to.  So is there a way I can reboot without restoring the iPhone?

You can restore the iPhone from an iCloud backup or from an iTunes backup once you're back at your computer.
I know that doesn't help too much, but it is an option.

  • TS2529 iOS update throws phone into recovery mode - HELP

The current iOS update seems to have thrown the phone into recovery mode now requiring restoration through iTunes. Of course I don't have photo stream on and fear losing all my photos. Any way around this?

Reset, hold both the home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart. If this works great. If not you may have to Restore the iPhone to get it working again. If you decide to do this you may even have to use DFU Mode to Restore. Here are the steps for DFU. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    For without iTunes
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
