Non-standard Oracle Installation

Hi in our env there are few Oracle Installations are non-standards, without Ora-Inventory, that was created by just tar-untar of existing oracle home and that's it.......what would be effect in the future for that kind of env, like for applying CPUs or any other maintenance

I use this method only.It's not a problem to copy oracle home.Make sure you don't loose your local inventory i.e inventory directory (most probably in your oracle home directory) .And do one more thing copy OraInventory directory from the server from where you have copy your home and place it anywhere in this server.And make an entry oraInst.loc pointing to that OraInventory directory.Then there won't be any problem.
Basically how opatch works:-
1. Search Central inv. to see if Oracle home is registered or not.
2. If yes go to that path taken from central inv. look for all stuff there itself and install.

  • Oracle DB: How to parse XML where element names are non-standard ?

    I'm in the unfortunate situation that I have illegal XML that I would like Oracle to parse. By 'illegal' in my case is that there are element names that start with an illegal character, such as a digit. Apart from this the XML is syntactically valid.
    Here is an example of the XML I have stored as a column in the database:
    <schedule>
        <1stweek>
        </1stweek>
        <2ndweek>
        </2ndweek>
    </schedule>Right now I'm doing text search-and-replace on the XML text before I let Oracle parse it, for example replacing '<1stweek>' with '<x1stweek>' and so on. Needless to say this is very slow.
    My question is if there is a way to tell the XML parser in the Oracle DB (I'm using version 10.2) to be a bit more forgiving ? ... so that it will accept element names that start with e.g. a digit ? I know that such an option exist in some XML parsers but what about Oracle's and if so how to set the option?
    And before you ask I'll answer myself: No, I'm not the one who created the non-standard XML. It is from a third-party application which I cannot change myself and cannot get the vendor to change either.
    Thank you.

    if you cast your clob to an xmltype then you can search and extract values based on tags.
    Heres an example where the table is a clob and value is cast and I'm looking for an existing attribute_name.

  • Oracle Installation or Uninstallation Solutions For Windows 95/98/2000/ME/NT/XP

    You must read carefully the following steps here. If you previously installed any Oracle's products on your machine, I strongly recommend you to clean up thoroughly before install the new products.
    ================================================================
    Uninstallation
    The easiest way to remove ALL traces of Oracle software, for an 8i installation, is:
    (1) Using regedit, remove the key \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\ORACLE.
    (2) Remove all the Oracle services (usually called Ora-something) from \\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
    (3) Go to the ORACLE_HOME directory (usually C:\Oracle\Ora81). Go to the BIN directory beneath this. Rename the file OCIW32.DLL to something like OCIW32.OLD.
    (4) Reboot your box.
    (5) Once you have logged on again, delete the directories C:\Program Files\Oracle and C:\Oracle.
    (6) Right-click on My Computer, select Properties->Environment. Edit the environmental variable PATH to remove all refernces to files in the two directories you have just deleted.
    (7) Remove the Oracle folders from your Start menu.
    *** Obviously, using regedit on your machine always entails risks, and I won't be held responsible if you end up trashing your system. However, the above procedure is one I have used many times with complete success. You have been warned! ;) ***
    As to logging on, the "standard" Oracle accounts are:
    SYS/change_on_install (SYSDBA - database owner)
    SYSTEM/manager (Owns various VIEWs and utility PACKAGEs)
    and (optionally):
    SCOTT/tiger (Training account containing some sample tables)
    If you're using PO8i on the local machine, you shouldn't need to worry about setting up NET*8 (Oracle's networking protocols)

    Windows 95 and 98
    This will remove all Oracle products, Oracle services, and Oracle registry entries from your computer.
    Complete the following steps to create a Clean Machine. Backup any relevant databases before proceeding!
    On Windows 95 and Windows 98:
    1. Ensure you shutdown your Oracle. Right click on the Oracle Icon in the toolbar and click on the shutdown option.
    2. Un-install all your Oracle products if possible. Use universal installer to do that. Ignore this step if you dont have universal installer on your machine.
    3. In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE.
    4. Delete the ORACLE key.
    5. Edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and remove your %ORACLE_HOME%\bin and JRE paths from the path setting.
    6. From the Windows Explorer (or from the command prompt), delete the Oracle directory (Oracle Base).
    7. Delete <system_drive>:\Program Files\Oracle (from the Windows NT Explorer or from the command prompt).
    8. Delete Icons from <system_drive>: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Oracle - <HOME> and <system_drive>:\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Oracle Installation Products. Where <HOME> is the previous HOME name.
    9. Reboot your computer.
    On Windows NT:
    1. Ensure you are logged in as a user with Administrator privileges.
    2. Stop all Oracle Services through Control Panel Services. Use universal installer to un-install your Oracle products. Ignore un-install if you dont have universal installer on your machine.
    3. Using regedit (at the command prompt, type regedit), go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE and delete the ORACLE key.
    4. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services, and remove all keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services that begin with ORACLE.
    5. Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application, and remove all keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Application that begin with ORACLE.
    6. Close regedit.
    7. From the Control Panel, open System.
    8. If JRE was installed by Oracle, remove the %ORACLE_HOME%\BIN path and the JRE path. For example, you may see a path similar to this one: C:\ORACLE\ORAxx\BIN;G: \Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\bin. Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Environment tab. Click on the system variable path and modify the path.
    9. Delete Icons from <system_drive>:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Oracle - <HOME> and <system_drive>:\Winnt\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Oracle Installation Products. Where <HOME> is the previous HOME name.
    10. Delete <system_drive>:\Program Files\Oracle (from the Windows NT Explorer or from the command prompt).
    11. Reboot your computer.
    12. Delete all ORACLE_BASE directories (You can find the Oracle homes listed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ORACLE_HOMES).

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the
    Sun JRE
    and Symmantec JIT will encounter this problem. Windows NT,
    Windows 2000
    and NetWare platforms are confirmed to be affected.
    Description
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    When installing Oracle Products with the Oracle Universal
    Installer (8.1.x)
    on machines that use the Sun JRE and Symmantec JIT, the
    installer hangs.
    Specifically for the Windows platform, the following version
    of the Symmantec
    JIT or earlier will encounter the failure:
    Symantec Java! JustInTime Compiler Version 3.10.107 for JDK
    1.2.
    Details regarding this issue can be found at:
    http://developer.intel.com/design/processor/future/manuals/knowni ssue.htm
    How to determine if you have Symmantec Java for JDK 1.2:
    1. Select the file "symcjit.dll" and right click on it.
    2. Select Properties, then the Version tab.
    3. Under Microsoft Windows*, the properties of the DLL are:
    "Symantec Java! JustInTime Compiler Version 3.10.107 for
    JDK 1.2 Copyright (C)
    1996-99 Symantec Corporation Dynamic Link Library file".
    DLLs older than this will also not work. "
    Likelihood of Occurrence
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the
    Sun JRE
    and Symmantec JIT will encounter this problem. Windows NT,
    Windows 2000 and NetWare platforms are confirmed to be
    affected.
    Possible Symptoms
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The failure typically is that the affected application simply
    terminates.
    Workaround
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    Not only will OUI be affected by this bug, most of the
    post-install
    configuration tools will also be affected. Running these
    tools with "-nojit"
    specified will avoid the hang, but it is not simple to specify
    "-nojit" for
    some of the products.
    The following workaround works for the Windows operating
    system:
    a. Copy only the install directory from the CD to the hard
    disk ,say, e:\temp.
    b. Open oraparam.ini and make the following modifications
    (Assuming CD
    drive is f:)
    * Change the "SOURCE=" line to use the full path to the CD
    instead of a
    relative path. (i.e., SOURCE=f:\stage\products.jar)
    * Change the "JRE_LOCATION" line to use the full path to the
    CD instead of a
    relative path. (i.e.,
    JRE_LOCATION=f:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\jre\1.1.7\1\DataFiles
    \Expanded)
    * Change the "OUI_LOCATION" line to use the full path to the
    CD instead of a
    relative path. (i.e.,
    OUI_LOCATION=f:\stage\Components\oracle\swd\oui\1.6.0.9.0\1\DataF
    iles\Expanded
    * Change the "JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS" line to add "-nojit" as the
    first argument.
    (i.e., JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms16m -mx32m)
    ^^^^^^
    * Other entries should remain the same
    c. Launch setup.exe from the temporary location on your hard
    drive (i.e.
    e:\temp\install\win32\setup.exe). This will use the
    modified
    oraparam.ini and pick up the information from the CD since
    the absolute
    locations are specified.
    Choose a Custom install and choose not to create a database
    during the
    install. This way, the Database Configuration Assistant will
    not be launched
    during installation.
    The Net8 Configuration Assistant will still be launched, and
    there is no way
    to suppress it. You will need to kill the Net8 Configuration
    Assistant if it
    hangs due to the bug. The installation still will have been
    successful, and
    you can run the DBCA and NetCA after installation.
    To kill NetCA if it hangs during installation:
    In the "Configuration Tools" window, highlight the "Net8
    Configuration
    Assistant" and click "Stop". If that does not work, look for
    the most recent
    JRE process using the Task Manager, and kill it manually.
    NOTE: the OUI
    itself will also have a jre process. Be sure to kill the one
    with the most
    recent date, which should be the jre process being used for
    Net8CA, not the
    one for OUI itself.
    After killing the configuration tools and continuing through
    the installation
    to the "End of Installation" screen, you should modify the
    configuration tools
    to use "-nojit", then call the appropriate tools from the
    Start Menu.
    Once installation is complete, each of the following files in
    the ORACLE_HOME
    needs to be modified:
    assistants\dbca\dbassist.cl
    assistants\dbma\dbmig.cl
    assistants\ifa\ifa.cl
    bin\elogin.cl
    bin\owm.cl
    ldap\oidamdin\oidadmin.cl
    network\tools\netasst.cl
    network\tools\netca.cl
    owm\install\instelogin.cl
    owm\install\instowm.cl
    Edit the contents of the above files to add "-nojit" as shown
    below:
    Command=("C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.7\BIN\JREW" -nojit
    -classpath ....
    this is the only thing you need to add --> ^^^^^^
    Then, launch the necessary tools, like Net8CA and DBCA from
    the Start Menu.
    Patches
    ~~~~~~~
    Currently there is not a patched installer available to deal
    with this
    problem, the workaround listed above must be used.

    The solution of making a local copy of the installation CD on

    Windows ME
    Solution to the installation of Oraclei8.1.7 PE in Windows Millennium
    Oracle does not support installing version 8.1.7 PE into
    Windows Millennium.
    As an unsupported workaround, you may add the following line
    to the [compatibility95] section of win.ini prior to
    installation:
    Jrew=0x00080000
    After setup is complete, Oracle will recommend a reboot.
    There is one additional step necessary prior to reboot;
    Oracle may add a non-standard path statement to the
    autoexec.bat file. Please modify this SET PATH
    statement to use short-filenames if you find a quoted
    LFN string represented as part of the path. You can
    confirm that the path was merged successfully into the
    registry after reboot by examining the PATH variable
    in the registry at
    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Environment
    Symptoms of a missing Oracle path statement in the registry are that Net8 Easy Config will not launch.
    Please note that Oracle does not support the use of this
    product in Windows ME, but have authorized these workarounds
    for testing purposes only.

    Windows XP Home Edition
    Oracle 8i is not certified on windows XP. Even if yes, it must be Windows XP Professional.
    You can install Oracle8i on windows XP Home Edition, try like this:
    1 - Copy your Oracle CD into hard disk in your
    machine. For example Copy from oracle8i CD into C:\Oracle\ ...
    2 - Search the two files named Symcjit.dll on the D drive (where you have copied Oracle8i. You can found them in (example):
    C:\Oracle\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1
    \DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin\symcjit.dll
    3 - Rename this file (Example): symcjit_back.dll (make sure to find two files and rename them)
    4 - Execute the Oracle setup.exe from C:\Oracle\setup.exe
    ===============================================================
    When Oracle 8i dies on the install or the installer hangs, here is the fix for this, make sure that you have Service Pack 2 installed.
    1. \JRE\1.3.1\ From Sun. (You can download java program at http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/download-jre-windows.html)
    2. Install the java file.
    There is also a problem in the installation disk.
    3. Make a copy of the Oracle 8i disk on the local hard disk.
    4. Do a search for the two files called symcjit.dll and rename them for example: symcjit.old.
    5. Install Oracle from the win32 directory.

    PLEASE NOTE THAT ORACLE DOESN'T SUPPORT THE USE OF THOSE PRODUCTS IN WINDOWS ME, BUT HAVE AUTHORIZED THESE WORKAROUNDS FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY
    Best Regards,
    Beau Leo

    Hi,Beau Leo, I am having problem installing Oracle9i Database Rel.2 on my pc.
    I read the suggestion and solution you posted for fixing Oracle 8.1.x installation
    probblem, and since my pc also hung at 48% while installing Oracle 9i software,
    I wonder if the same problem in the Oracle8 Vs.Pentium4 also exists for Oracle9i.
    I have Windows2000,256RAM, Pentium3 1Ghz, and 13.8 free diskspace. But the installation always
    hangs at 48%, my computer will just shut down and restart automatically without
    even showing an error message. I have tried installing the Enterprise edition for 3
    times already but everytime encountered the same problem. I've also tried custom installation
    by selecting not to create database, but it also hung.
    Before I started each installation, I always made sure that my registry and environment
    path are cleared and that all the partially-installed Oracle files are deleted.
    I hope that you or anyone who has a solution for this problem could be so kindly to help me out.
    Thank you in advance.

  • A question about Oracle installer and a possible bug in JVM

    Hello,
    I appreciate if you could kindly guide me to solve the following problem.
    I'm trying to install Oracle11g Enterprise on a Linux system (Redhat Enterprise 5.3).
    There is no X system, and therefore I chose to install by using a response file
    in silent mode. I set the parameters value as indicated in Oracle installation
    guide. Yet, when I launch the installer, it seems that there is a problem with
    java:
    [oracle@ccsaplinux0002 database]$ ./runInstaller -responseFile /usr/local/oracle/database/responseFileV01.rsp -silent
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...

    [oracle@ccsaplinux0002 database]$I looked in the oracle package that I downloaded, there was no jdk or jre direcotry.
    As a result I downloaded the JDK 1.6.0_15 available on Sun microsystem web site and then
    I set manually in oracle user ~/.bash_profile the value for $JAVA_HOME.
    Why I get this error?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Is MySQL component part of standard RHEL installation?

    I have a query if MySQL component is part of a standard RHEL installation or it is installed additionally as an RPM? There was a security analysis run on one server which has RHEL 5.8 installed and it is showing security vulnerabilities with respect to MySQL such as CVE-2012-2750, CVE-2012-3163 etc. The vulnerability solution in the security report is showing solutions like:
    1) Download and apply the upgrade from: http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php
    2) Download and apply the upgrade from: http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql
    I had put the request in the Oracle forum but there was a mistake with my question. Request you to please revert.
    Regards

    Thanks for your reply. Is it possible to remove the package installed by default if it is found that it is of no use?
    There are few observations with the 2 links I posted, in the link,
    http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php
    it is difficult to figure out which update to apply as it is giving a whole lot of product versions and in the other link, it is giving reference mainly to one particular version of the product, MySQL Community Server 5.6.14 which may not be the version to apply.
    I was wondering how to upgrade from these links if these links are not showing something specific.
    Request you to please revert.

  • Making custom non-standard components aware of custom look and feels.

    Hello all.
    Maybe the subject of this post could also be the opposite: "Making custom look and feels aware of non-standard custom components". I'm not sure.
    If I code a new custom component (extending JComponent, or extending the UI delegate of a standard component) and pretend it to be laf aware then I must create the corresponding UI delegate for each laf, like it happens to be with standard swing components. But I'm not sure it is feasible to create the UI delegates for all unknown existing custom lafs.
    On the other side, if I create a custom laf then I will also create a custom UI delegate for each standard component, but I can not create UI delegate for all unknown existing custom components.
    The point here is that standard components and standard lafs are universally known, while custom components (or custom ui delegates) and custom lafs are not.
    So the question is: How does a swing developer deal with the case of a new custom component that will be used in an unknown custom laf?
    For instance:
    1. Custom text UI delegate for dealing with styled documents in JTextField. See {thread:id=2284487}.
    2. JTabbedPane with custom UI delegate that paints no tab if the component only contains one tab.
    In both cases I need a UI delegate for each known laf, but what happens if the application is using a laf that certainly will not be aware of this custom functionally?
    Thank you!

I suggest if you want to make your custom component look & feel aware, you design the way it displays around the l & f of other components that are part of j2se and have l&f implementations.

  • Help with custom page size support for non standard paper

    Firstly, we appreciate any support you may be able to provide, we have already thrown considerable effort at this and it has been very time consuming and frustrating.
    To support a number of business functions need to print to (non standard) continuous and mulitpart paper on a dot matrix printer. The (test) Mac is a 10.4.11 G4 laptop, the printer is an Oki Microline 520 (9 pin 80 column, IBM Proprinter, Microline or Epson FX personalities with a parallel interface) which has been networked via a HP JetDirext Ex Plus print server. That part appears to be operating correctly.
    We have tried a number of drivers / printer personalities with varying levels of success:
    ESP / EPSON 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Epson FX personality
    ESP / OKIDATA 9-Pin Series CUPS v1.1 / Oki Microline personality
    Ghostscript / epsonc / Epson Dot Matrix Foomatic PPD / Epson FX personality
    Ghostscript / ibmpro / IBM ProPrinterII Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
    Ghostscript / okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin Foomatic PPD / IBM Proprinter personality
    There were no appropriate drivers in Gutenprint (5.2.3 version) The most successful is the okiibm / Oki Microline IBM compatible 9 pin settings, it can print A4 and honors the Printer Features Resolution settings in the print dialogue.
    Q1: Should we see anything in the Printer Info / Installable Option, it is always blank ?
    The issue is custom page sizes, we can manage / add Custom Pages Sizes via the Page Setup / Paper Size interface and they draw on the screen OK but they do not work at the printer (various issue at the printer such error messages, junk printing and wrong orientation):
    Q2: Are we heading in the right direction or is there a better way to handle this ?
    Q3: Would 10.5 solve all our problems, are the print drivers any better ?
    Q4: Is this the correct way to specify custom page sizes, is this all we need to do ?
    Q5: Is so how do we get the driver to respect the size, do we need another filter or something ?
    Q6: Is it possible to add (by hand) custom page sizes to the ESP drivers or Foomatic PPD files so they they appear as a "standard" offering in the Page Setup / Paper Size interface ?
    Sorry for the long / complicated post and thanks in advance for any advice / assistance.

    Matt Broughton wrote:
    Testing on 10.5.7, Tried both Oki 9-Pin Series 1.3 / Microline personality (no joy) and Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 (this is a much better driver than 1.1) / Epson FX personality but not much joy with custom page sizes,
    The Oki 9-pin Series 1.3 and the Epson 9-Pin Series 1.3 should produce the same results. The only difference in the PPDs is the printer model name.
    After some testing, I find that the output is not the same despite the two PPDs being virtually identical. I did spot in the CUPS source code for the rastertoepson filter that there is some model name matching for Epson printers. Thus I can see where the output using the Oki 9-pin PPD could be different than when using the Epson 9-pin PPD.
    but again once I imbedded the page size into the ppd some (but frustrating) luck. I can get it to respect the paper orientation and it prints well but I could not get the form length to work properly. At best over a print run of 7 labels it would creep up the label by about 0.1 inches / 2 mm.
    Just for the fun of it, I made some additions to the Epson 9-pin 1.3 PPD. All I can say is that I could print a job to file. I have no way to know what it would look like on paper.
    I did find that using a custom paper size did add some unwanted margins to the output bounding box. Putting the custom page size into the PPD seemed to get around that issue.
    I added the following lines to the Epson 9-pin PPD 1.3--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">*PageSize Label1/Label1: "<</PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *PageRegion Label1/Label1: "<<PageSize[288 107.8]/ImagingBBox null>>setpagedevice"
    *ImageableArea Label1/Label1: "0 0 288.00 107.80"
    *PaperDimension Label1/Label1: "288.00 107.80"</pre>
    This adds a paper size with the 4 inch (288pt) width and 1.5 inch (107.8pt) height. That represents the 1.4 inch label and the 0.1 inch gap between labels. I set 0pt margins except for the bottom where is set the 0.1 inch (7pt) gap as the bottom margin.
    The full diff in context is--
    <pre style="overflow: auto;font-size:small; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #222; background: #ddd; padding: .3em .8em .3em .8em; font-size: 9px;">loki:~ matt$ diff -u /usr/share/cups/model/epson9.ppd ~/Desktop/epson9.ppd

  • Extracting non-standard xem content into XEM

    Hi
    Has anyone tried exracting non-standard xem content into BI.
    Using the delivered xem data-dump tools I am able to indentify table/field names that I believe could be used for addtional reporting in BI.
    However I am unable to create an additional connection from XEM to BI. I was told that  cannot use UD Connect, partly because we have no experience in setting up such a connection.
    I was told I cannot use DB connect as this is not the "recommended" access method for SAP systems. But it seems to me that  this would be the most straightforward. Especially as I do not have access to java/netweaver programmers that could develop anyu other methods
    both XEM and BI are running on Oracle, the XME database is very small and the table structure is not very complex.
    So any comments/suggestions on how to process, and whether I should push the issue of considering DB connect as aviable option?
    Regards
    Philip

    Finally!
    I'd suggest making a small change to the documentation, along the lines of:
    1. Login to the Oracle Collaboration Suite Control
    2. Navigate to the Content section, typically called "Content".
    3. From the Administration area at the bottom of the screen, select Formats.
    4. You will be presented with a list of existing formats, searchable by Name. Select New Format to create a new format, or click on an existing format to edit its properties
    I think that this would increase the usability of the documentation.

  • List NON-standard SAP objects

    How can I list all NON-Standard objects on a SAP Oracle database?
    Reason: I believe I have objects that were created with SAP naming conventions that were not part of the installed SAP modules.
    My understanding is that there are SAP documentation tables like DOKIL that I could use to join against current objects.

    I can confirm the table OIURV_DOC_DTL_BK is a standard table in ERP, it seems to be part of IS-OIL.
    Let me wrap up the information to check, whether an object is standard or not:
    - If it is in the ABAP dictionary (table TADIR), then use SE11 to find the creator and package information
    - If it is not in the ABAP dictionary then the object was most likely created directly on the database. You can then query dba_objects for creation date (created). You will have to talk to the folks with direct database access about it. Generally objects should never be manipulated directly on the database.
    Cheers Michael

  • Fixed assets - non standard webadi

    Hi,
    I would like to know if you can use webadi for fixed assets using non standard input. The purpose of the execise is to get an excel spreadsheet details(interface details) onto an oracle table.

    If you have any predefined integrator defined in WebADI for Fixed Assets then you can do it.
    Otherwise you ned to define a custom integrator .
    Cheers,
    Naveen.

    Install ESXi and then create a VM, then install to the VM, or use something like this.
    POTENTIAL COMPROMISE:
    I have been advised to try and "Trick" the installer program, and install directly to the bare metal.
    QUESTIONS:
    Can anyone here advise me on what to try first, best options, and last ditch effort?
    Could I potentially get this to install on bare-metal, non-standard extra hardware (I've got 2 boxes sitting around, both are PRIME-NCS-APL-K9)
    Any additional advise or reference URL/Docs you might offer?

    Thank you Marco.
    I'm a bit curious though if anyone has gotten the OVA converted/imported to Hyper-V or Xen?  (wouldn't that be lucky?).  As it is, I've got the OVA DMM VM, and a demo license of ESXi and working on getting this up and running now in lab now, to see if it still works with InformaCast alerts.

  • Patch & Non Standard block

    Hello everybody,
    1) When might one choose non-standard block sizes?
    2) Why do we need to apply patch? Just to fix bugs?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Assuming that you mean "why might I create a tablespace that uses a block size that is different than the block size of the database," the reason Oracle built that functionality was to facilitate transporting a tablespace from one database to another when they used different block sizes. That's generally the only reason this makes sense. There are a handful of cases where there might be a valid reason that it might benefit performance but it that is quite rare and changing the block size is even less frequently the best way to solve the performance problem.

  • Kvirc from SVN {NON-Standard-Install-Method} and Overcoming 2 Problems

    Hello, everyone.  Firefishe here.
    There are certain programs I like to compile from source code, outside of the normal arch hierarchy of PKGBUILD's.  One such program is the Internet Relay Chat client, "KVIRC".
    I've been using kvirc for years, and I like to keep it as up-to-date as possible, just like Arch!
    This is why I like to use the svn version, so I can update it quickly and uniformly.  I like--as a user--to contribute back to the project.  (I had one of my bug reports translated into an instant commit by the main project author, himself, once.  That made me feel quite good, so it really does help to do a few things like this now and again.
    Okay, on to the main topic.
    I'm writing this to alleviate a nagging problem that had been plaguing me for months in 2013.  Qt5 just wasn't compiling kvirc very well back then.  The fact is, the echoing strains of "qt5 is broken in kvirc" from the #kvirc channel on Freenode, resounded soundly throughout that entire year.  Qt5 was still a bit buggy, and not all the libraries (32bit or 64bit) were quite finished.
    Move forward to (now) July, 2014!  I have now compiled kvirc successfully on my 64bit (with 32bit multilib installation) laptop, and kvirc is purring away with a current svn build of kvirc.
    However, I ran into some issues, which I would like to share with you, below:
    I usually go about compiling kvirc from svn like this: (I usually start from my /home/userNameHere directory.)
    {arch@homedir}$ svn co https://svn.kvirc.de/svn/trunk/kvirc
    {arch@homedir}$ cd kvirc
    {arch@homedir}$ mkdir release
    {arch@homedir}$ cd release
    {arch@homedir}$ ccmake ..
    [At this point, the 'ccmake ..' command invokes cmake-gui, an ncurses-like graphical user interface, with a list of menu items pertaining to various libraries and flags that can be set.  cmake-gui makes selecting these flags and libraries quite easy, and also gives a clear indication of what directories may not have been found (which will be discussed a bit later.) ]
    Press the 'C' Letter Key -- (This runs the Configure Routine.  I sometimes do this twice, just to be sure it configured properly. I've had it miss a few times for unknown reasons.)
    Press the 'G' Letter Key -- This 'Generates' Cmake files.
    After the 'G' command, the system takes you back to the command prompt.
    {arch@homedir}$ make ***WAIT A WHILE, COULD TAKE A BIT LONGER ON SLOWER SYSTEMS!***
    {arch@homedir}$ sudo make install  (Or 'su -' to root, then do 'make install'; your preference.  I prefer using sudo.)
    {arch@homedir}$ sudo ldconfig  (Or 'ldconfig' if still at root prompt #)
    {arch@homedir}$ kvirc (or 'kvirc &' if you don't want the terminal window to hold onto the process.)
    Kvirc should run at this point, but I ran into a couple of problems.  Once during the ccmake configuration (which prevented ccmake from configuring), and at the end, which prevented kvirc from running.)
    The first had to do with two (2) packages that were not installed.  The were, as follows:
    qt5-webkit
    qt5-multimedia
    I installed those files, then did the  'ccmake ..' portion.   That ran fine, as well as the 'make' and 'sudo make install' and 'sudo ldconfig' parts.
    What didn't work was when I tried to run kvirc.  I got the following error:
    {arch@homedirc}$ kvirc
    kvirc: error while loading shared libraries: libkvilib.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    I remember, back when kvirc was wanting Qt4, and not Qt5, that if I didn't do the first 'sudo ldconfig' command before trying to run kvirc, it would give something similar.  However, since this compile run was wanting Qt5, and not qt4, I was puzzled.
    Well, it turned out to be something quite simple.  This is a non-standard process of software installation on a new(er) arch system.  The 'uname -r' command on my system yields the following:  3.15.4-1-ARCH .  It is no surprise, then, that at this late date, Qt5 is complete (or at least more complete) than back in 2013 when I had the original problems, and had to select the 'WANTS-QT4' section during the 'ccmake ..' command.
    **** Building kvirc this way places the kvirc binary in /usr/local/bin, and a certain 'libkvilib.so.4' library in /usr/local/lib ****.
    This is to be expected from a standard source compile on most gnu/linux systems; and this *is* a standard compile, even though we're using the 'ccmake ..' command to do the preliminary configuration and cmakefile generation.)
    The problem is, is that Arch is looking for libkvilib.so.4 in /usr/lib, and not /usr/local/lib.  So the following was, for me, the solution that got everything squared away:
    I made a symlink in /usr/lib to /usr/local/lib/libkvilib.so.4, like this:
    {arch@homedir}$ cd /usr/lib
    {arch@homedir}$ sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/libkvilib.so.4 libkvilib.so.4
    After doing this, I did:
    {arch@homedir}$ kvirc (or kvirc &)
    And It Ran Beautifully! :-)
    I hope you've enjoyed this HOWTO.  I know most people may just want to use the 4.2.x version of kvirc, currently residing safely in the standard repositories.  However, if you're like me, and want a bit of bleeding edge, Qt5 goodness with kvirc, I might suggest doing the above!
    I can be reached at firefishe At gmail DOT com if anyone has any questions.

    Hi Dareen,
    Looking at the information shared and also the error message ( Update Failed,Updates could not be applied.Please contact your Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator.If the problems persist, contact customer support for further assistance" ),
    It suggests that the updates were to be managed by the Admin only. Lets try the following step and suggest if this was able to resolve the concern that you have or not.
    1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AAMUpdaterInventory\1.0 and you will find a .dat file ( AdobeUpdaterAdminPrefs.dat).
    2) Please open the file in question and you will find a line item : <Suppressed>1</Suppressed> .
    3) Please change the Value from 1 to 0 and save the file back in the same location.
    post the above step, try the installation once again and share the end result please.
    Cheers,
