Non supported device issue

Hi
: I have a DELL Axim x30, that I have been using to read ebooks for years. I have Adobe reader for pocket pc installed on my device. I have been having problems with trying to load ePUB ebooks and PDF ebooks onto my device. I downloaded the latest version of Digital Editions, and validated my desktop computer. When I open Digital Editions up, it does not seem to recognize my DELL as a reading device, thus I cannot transfer the ebooks to my device. I looked at a couple of recommendations by other users to people with a similar problem to mine, but nothing seems to work. I put the books directly on my flashcard and then tried to open them up with my Adobe Reader for pocket pc. I either get an unsupported file format or file appears to be corrupted error message. Help, I do not want to have to purchase an eBook reader when my pocket pc has been working so well for all of these years.

  • Can no longer recommend Fascinate due to non-support of issues -  class action time?

I loved my Fascinate when I got it, but the failure of Verizon to promptly resolve KNOWN software issues with known-to-Verizon solutions constitutes something dangerously close to fraud.  Like others, I was promised a prompt upgrade to Froyo by a Verizon rep when I bought the phone.  Like others. my GPS performance is terrible, with frequent delays of 10 minutes to infinity to achieve a location lock.  Like others, I let my 30 day return expire because I was promised a software fix was coming out Real Soon Now, so now I am screwed.
The issue is NOT the delayed Froyo update, the issue is that the phone does not function as promised by Verizon when sold.  Knowing sale of a defective product that does not meet its advertised features is fraudulent under the commercial code in any state of the union.
Therefore I am doing some of the few things I can do under the circumstances:
First of all, new buyers are warned that the phone DOES NOT WORK as advertised in many cases due to software issues with GPS, email push, and other features.  If you buy it, don't expect it to work.  If you are promised otherwise by a Verizon store or rep, be warned that the promises are empty.  Be warned that the Verizon implementation of Bing en lieu of Google search and other disruptions of the base Google services makes the phone almost unusable compared to a true Android environment such as that on certain other Android phones and providers.  Bing is terrible. VZNavigator is a rip off (and terrible).  If you are a lawyer interested in a class action against Verizon related to thi sphone be aware that you should have plenty of interested parties.  Personally I would like my service fees waved for the period from September when I bought the phone through whenever-they-actually-make-it-work with debugged software.  It is clear that engineering KNOWS how to make the GPS work even without a full Froyo update - they just haven't released a patch.
I wish I could love this phone - but I can't recommend it any more to any one for any reason until Samsung/Verizon fix the software and de-Bing and de-bloat an otherwise excellent piece of hardware.  This is EXACTLY what Apple got right, and that Verizon has wrong.  A pox on them and their bloatware and BIng and broken search functions.  It's like a bad dream.  Swapping the hardware out for another Fasicinate won't fix it.  I'm stuck.

Do I actually expect to see a suit?  No, not really.  But, message reads on the first page of the Fascinate forum suggest that as of now at least 4000 potential Fascinate owners may have received enough reasons to consider either a different phone or a different carrier.  Verizon execs might have a look over the fence at IPhone land, where there is a mob wielding torches and pitch forks that loves their iPhones (but hates ATT for the poor service experience).  Provide even average service and you build brand loyalty that overcomes almost any foul up.  Give your customers good reasons to hate you, and they surely will.
Today I drove a 30 mile round trip with a fresh A-GPS almanac and never got GPS located closer than 1100 yards.  If it ever DOES synch, it will be good to 10 ft.  and stay locked until I go indoors.  If.  The Bluetooth refused to connect (again).  Works great WHEN it actually occasionally works though.  The hardware can do it.  The software is a bad joke.  Is is Samsung's fault?  Maybe.  Could Verizon provide a timely fix by internal or Samsung resources? Definitely. Samsung has fixed these issues for other markets long ago.   The shame is that it takes what could be a great experience and sours it all.  It's not about Froyo, it's about having basic features that work.  While some of thse phones work perfectly, some combination of hardware and software issues means that too many customers did not receive what the paid for, and they have good reason to be angry with Verizon for the poor experience and callous treatment.

  • Detecting HDCP Encrypted Content or non-HDCP Supporting Devices

I'd like to detect non HDCP supporting devices, and alert users that it is not supported and switch to a lower quality (non-HDCP) stream.
Is there a way from within OSMF to detect if content has been encrypted with Output Protection, and can you detect at what level of protection was added (NO_PROTECTION, NO_PLAYBACK,  etc.)?

Here's a more detailed description of what Derek said:
Create a policy called “test_for_HDCP” with the restriction “REQUIRED” (using AdobePolicyManager.jar)
Use the policy to package a content dummycontent.f4v (use the AdobePackager.jar tool).  Grab the .drmmeta file that it generates and toss out the encrypted dummycontent.f4v.
Host your dummycontent.drmmeta on a webserver somewhere
On your client/player-application, load the dummycotent.drmmeta and then do DRMManager.loadVoucher()
If you get an error code, computer doesn’t have OP
If you don’t see an error code, computer does have OP
Depending on what you see in step #5 or #6, you can then decide to go down your SD video route, or HD video route.
    cheers,
    /Eric.

For that matter, it doesn't support bluetooth sharing with Apple devices either... except app to app connections that are specifically coded to communicate directly.

  • IPhone 5 Wifi Hotspot - Issue with Non Apple Devices

    Hi !
I have iPhone 5 and a Working LTE connection , My Carrier officially supports data tethering. Previously i could turn on Personal Hotspot and use internet in my card with other Non-Apple Devices such as GPS , Samsung devices etc.
But recently i noticed after update to 7.1.2 . I can turn on Hotspot
1-  Apple Devices can connect to Hotspot such as Mac Book Pro , IPhone and iPad.
2- Windows Laptop can use Internet Using USB Cable connected with iPhone but can not connect through Wifi.
3- All other Non-Apple Devices ( such as Lumia 1520 , Samsung Galaxy S5 ) Can not Connect to Wifi Hotsopt.
Is there any specific restriction or policy which is preventing this.
I have tried , Reset All Settings , Reset Network Settings. but it does not work.

    Hi dumbcode,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
You sound very familiar with Personal Hotspot and have already done some good troubleshooting. In your situation I suggest going through the Wi-Fi trouble shooting section of the attached article.

  • Contacts and Calendar with iCloud and non-iCloud devices

I have a mix of non-iCloud and iCloud devices and macs, both at work and at home. Calendar has continued to sync correctly between all devices, however contacts is definitely not syncing between iCloud and non-iCloud devices. Bookmarks are also not coming across from iCloud devices to non-iCloud macs. Mail is working fine. I'm surprised that there is such variation in core apps. I would have expected iCal and Address Book to both work (or not work), but this seems not to be the case.
Keen to know if this is the norm for other uses of mixed environments?

I have a Macbook. Mac OS X 10.5.8. And an iPhone 4, as well as an iPad 2 - both on iOS 5.
There is a really really annoying and silly issue with syncing contacts and calendars across my Mac using iTunes (cable) and the iCloud options when my Mac does not support iCloud.
When I create / amend a contact or an event on my iOS device, if I choose (or more likely than not, the default option) "iCloud" for my contacts / calendar, the creation or amendment does NOT appear in my MAC even when syncing over cable with iTunes.
I have to choose ONE to edit - either the iCloud version OR the "from my Mac" version.
This is extremely annoying and silly - so much for Apple's seamless integration of products.
Of course, the easiest way out (and I am assuming Apple's preferred option) is to
    (1) get a new Macbook Pro / Air that has OS X Lion which has iCloud inbuilt. - but that is just wasteful as my Macbook is still running flawlessly. (until now)
Or to do the unthinkable and tinker with electronics when you are totally clueless (like I am) and to
    (2) upgrade to Snow Leopard and then to Lion - yeah right... have you friggin read those reviews?!?!
Is Apple intending to solve these issues for the non iCloud / iCloud group of users and make the Apple experience better again?
Or just because the company is doing great financially, and selling more products more than ever, and yet still have huge huge markets to conquer, gonna just ignore the above issues and just wait for our patience to wear thin, and do (1) - buy yet another new product.
OR we could switch to android and samsung and PCs and what have yous... please do not make us make this choice!!!

  • How to transfer saved details on BB between BB and non BB devices

Hi Support. Well, how to copy phone memory details (address book contacts , messages, bookmarks, calendar, tasks, memopad, etc...) to a non BB device to 100% make accessible on both devices.<br>Regards..

can BB backup files be explored in order to manually access the desired category(ies) to select the requested details to copy&paste them on the non BB device? By the way, i tried Magicberry but file parsing is failing.
Natively, the backup file is not usable by anything but the RIM software...it's sole intended purpose is as source for restore to another BB. 3rd party apps can parse it...perhaps you need to seek other alternatives. If you search this site, I'm sure you will find more choices.
    Marwan_bs wrote:
    - a backup convertor should resolve that request but if conversion, as you said; wont give 100% same result ?!?!?!?!?!
I do not understand that statement...if the database you desire is included in the backup file, then the data you desire should be there...you just have to extract it with a 3rd party app that works adequately for your purposes.

  • Signaling Link Termination Supported Devices :

    Hi All,
I am working at a ISP. We are using PGW 2200, 2651XM(Signaling Link Termination), 2800-5400 series(MTP backhaul) and a SBC(non-Cisco device) in our VoIP backbone. As you know, 26XX series devices will be end-of-sale in near future.(Maybe they have already been end-of-sale )  So we are concerned about our backbone's survivablity and redundancy. Because of hardware problems and support issues.
We want to know if we can replace 26XX series with another device which supports standalone SLT.(not integrated SLT.We can't use integrated SLT instead of standalone SLT. It will cause different problems.) For example can we use 28XX instead of 26XX as SLT device wtih a spesific IOS image? If there is a solution, which device and IOS image should i use?
I've read lots of documents about this problem but there is not an information about it. All documents says that we can only use 26XX for SLT. I  So can anyone answer my question please?
    Regards,
    Erhan

You can use 2811 as explained here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/pgw/itp_l/itpl.html#wp1136292

  • Satellite U300 connected to TV - Non supported video format

I am using Toshiba Satellite U300-15q and it has a vga output so i bought a cable and a box that transfers te analogue signal of vga to digital of hdmi so that i can connect it to my 32' TV Sony make.
But if i connect it it says on the tv in yellow letters non supported video format.
Why is that and how can i fix it ?

In the whole story problem is that you use third part hardware or software so this described issue has nothing to do with your Toshiba notebook or Toshiba in general.
On notebooks side is important that video signal is sent on proper way. What happen later and why this signal is not transformed correctly is matter of this box.
    Which box do you use?
In my opinion you should contact manufacturer of this box and their support. They should know how it works and how to fix this.
Generally speaking, Toshiba has nothing to do with this problem.

  • Why is 6790 not in the list of supported devices ?

My Nokia 6790 came with Ovi Maps installed, however when I try to upgrade I am asked to select the model from a list, and the 6790 is not listed.
Why is 6790 not currently in the list of supported devices ?

@alanbarneys -jj was just quoting a previous post. His posts are always like that. Even I at times have trouble reading them.
Anyway, to answer the question regarding free maps to the 6790. This is a special case since AFAIK the 6790 Surge is a special edition phone available only through AT&T. Such special edition phones often do get software later. However, Nokia did promise to get newer phones availability to the Free Maps service this month.
Please note that for certain models (the N86 in particular) are rumored to have a scheduled update for this month to make it compatible with maps. All you can do now is to wait and see if the 6790 is going to be one of the units with the upcoming update.
Please note that currently, the only devices supported are those with the s60v5 operating system (touch screen) and non touch screen phones with s60v3FP2 operating system with 600mhz processors.

I am not an expert here,

Hi. I need to be ale to share my calendars and contacts so I can access them on non apple devices.
I've tried using google but find the syncing of contacts from osx address book to be really unreliable. Does anyone have any advice on the best way to do it?

If you want a more open system use Google instead of iCloud, but iCloud is supported on OSX, IOS, Windows, and with the purchase of a few apps can be made to work (although not with all features) on Android systems.
I have no idea if it will work on a Windows phone.
