Non syncing

In the past two weeks my Apple tv has stopped working correctly. I get the 'file not recognized' error when trying to play my purchased content. I've restarted everything and then I tried a factory reset. Now it won't sync content at all. iTunes gives me the check for Firewall message (I have no firewall).
I've tried the Apple support page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1447 but my SHARING preferences don't show a FIREWALL tab, so I'm stuck.

Well, this is probably voodoo it won't hurt anything. Change the setting to Set Access for specific services, add iTunes and set if for allow incoming connections then change back to Allow all Incoming connections.

    Prior to upgrading to 8.1, my non-synced content showed on my AppleTV (when iTunes was open on my computer). Following the upgrade, the only content showing on the AppleTV is content that is synced to it.
    iTunes can see the AppleTV and I can sync content to it. Under "Settings" for the AppleTV I have "Custom Sync" selected and the "Show only synced content on my AppleTV" box is not checked.
    Any ideas how I can get non-synced content to show again in the AppleTV?

    That's exactly what I did, it took ~20sec to complete the "apply to enclosed items" command (there was heavy disk access), but it does not improve. The permissions stay the same for the files/folders in question. It's very odd, have a look at the screenshot:
    Some folders have correct permissions, others (to which I have no access through iTunes) show "admin" twice as the only user who is allowed to write. Repair permission does not help. I have hundreds of files/folders where permissions are wrong, only since the upgrade recently.

  • Can't see non-sync titles on AppleTV

    I used to be able to see the non-synced movie titles on my AppleTV as long as iTunes was running. Since the upgrade (2.2), I only see synced titles. I have the box checked to display the non-sync movies but don't anymore. Am I missing something new that was added?

    I don't see those that movies that aren't physically on the ATV. Even when they are being copied over, I don't see them until after they are finished copying. It's worked fine for months, but not since I upgraded.
    I'd tend to agree with tmartine about restarting the tv. On your other issue where synced movies aren't available until they have fully synced, I suspect this might be intended under the new software. Previously if you started to watch something that was syncing it would stop and start streaming it, I can see the newer behaviour being wholly more practical.

  • Locking Non Synced Audio To A Sequence

    I have some old audio files ( mostly that came - using old drum machines) - that I want to sync to logic.
    In digital performer 4.6 - I am able to highlight a multi bar drum track - then click " analyze audio" - and it makes an attempt to guess at the beats per minute. Then I can change the sequence to that BPM - then slide the audio drum track ( and all other related audio tracks) - and match up the drum downbeats to the beginning of a bar - and thereby lock non-synced audio to a sequence very easily.
    Question: how do I do this in logic 7.11?

    Beat mapping is probaly what you want

    If you want to copy back photos that were originally synced from a computer then you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

    Keeping my fingers crossed this was a real fix, and not a fluke.

    Yes, in your itunes go to Edit>Preferences>Devices>Check the box that says prevent iPod, iPhone... from automatically syncing
    This will allow you to plug it in and import the video using camera wizard, auto play or whatever you have on your PC and it wont auto sync with itunes. It might pull the iphone up in itunes but it wont sync so youll be okay!

    You can't "sync" that is automatically update an iPod from multiple libraries or computers. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.

    I have a severe problem with Premiere CS3. I use two cameras and thus multi-cam editing, but the problem is that one of the files (MPG's) gives hiccups at some points of the scene, and from there is not in sync (audio-wise) anymore.
    What can be the cause (6 Gb memory, MacPro), and more important: how can I get rid of it?

  • Two identical audio tracks, identical waveforms, BUT non-sync playback!

    Hi all - I've been up all night trying to figure this one out... I've shot a video on XDCAM, edited using the native codec in FCP 6.06, graded in Color and sent back to FCP as ProRes 422 (HQ).
    Now, here's the weird one - the original unmixed soundtracks have remained in sync with the graded video, but the mixed track from the sound studio gradually drifts out of sync by about 15 frames after 10 minutes of playback. I figured it was just a sample-rate mismatch but all tracks checked out and are all 48KHz - even the graphical waveforms are visually a frame-perfect match. Then I figured it could be hard disc speed or an issue with the Blackmagic card - but an export to DVD via Compressor also produced a disc where the audio gradually slipped out of sync so I've pretty much ruled out hardware.
    The only difference I can see in FCP is the sequences are '32-bit floating point' and the 48KHz .wav mixes are '16-bit integer'... I've tried changing the sequence settings but the audio still drifts.
    Any guidance would be much appreciated... this thing isn't giving me any more clues to work with!

    Thank you for your solution! I just ran into a similar problem. A friend of mine cleaned up some audio for me in his studio, and he gave me 96KHz WAV files. I put the WAV clips into the timeline, and lined up the visible waveform, exactly to the frame (I found a very distinctive click on one frame near the end of the clip). But the WAV audio gradually drifts, so at the end of about one hour of video, the WAV audio sounds about 60 frames late! I can see that distinctive click in the waveform, but I hear that click 60 frames later! Even when I delete the video and the original audio, so only the WAV file is playing, the sound of the audio drifts out of sync with the visible waveforms. Very strange...
    I will try your solution of running the WAV through Compressor to produce an AIFF, and I'll let you know what happens. - Seth Hill

    It's a simple enough scenario. I have a desktop and a laptop. I manually manage my music on my iPhone 3G on my desktop. Somehow I have to sync my iPhone with that desktop to be able to manually manage my music and video. I don't use iTunes for anything else besides getting stuff onto my iPhone by lack of better means provided by Apple (pun intended).
    Now, I have a movie on my laptop (I'm on vacation) and I want that movie on my iPhone. And I don't get it to work without having to delete everything on my iPhone first because turning on manually managing music and video causes iTunes to ask if I want to delete everything on my iPhone. Well, no, I don't want to, I just want to get a movie on my iPhone. How do I do that? Is something as easy as this even possible with this whole "SYNC OR DIE" approach of iTunes? Is there some way to strip iTunes of all syncing capabilities and just let me do what I want?

    Managed to do this with the Air Sharing application, but if there's a way to do this without third party software, please let me know.

  • Can't get rid of non-syncing playlists on iPhone!

    My iPhone has playlists that aren't even selected for syncing in iTunes, and I can't figure out how to get them off the iPhone. I even deleted all the music from my iPhone, and then reinstalled my regular iPhone playlist to bring back my music, but that didn't get rid of these other playlists that I don't even have selected for sync.
    Anyone have a fix for this?

    I did finally solve this problem. As best I can remember it, it only happens with "Smart Playlists".
    So what you do is add a filter for each playlist you have the problem with: Kind = Audio (or maybe it's "Music").
    Anyway, that worked. I was then able to stop these from syncing to the iPhone. And then delete them!

  • Deleting music on iOS 7 with a non-synced iPad

    I have the following setup:
    1) iPad 2 running iOS 7
    2) iMac running OS X Mavericks
    My problem: I have lots of music stored on my iPad taking up a lot of space that I want to delete, as I now use iTunes Match. The difficulty I face is that if I want to delete the music albums from my iPad, I cannot but instead have to go through every single track - a task that would take a VERY long time.
    My next thought was to connect my iPad to iTunes on my iMac and delete the music on my iPad from there. The problem is that my iTunes library corrupted a while ago and I had to rebuild from scratch, so this current iPad is not synced to this iTunes library. If I then choose the option under Devices -> iPad -> Music, select 'Sync Music' and choose no music listings, I'm told that this will replace the entire contents of my iPad. All I want to do is delete the music; if I delete ALL the content, then there are many files on my iPad that I need to keep on there in other applications, from Pages to iAnnotate to Notes, etc. Again, it would take me a LONG time to move all this content off my device.
    Any suggestions on a good solution here?
