Non-Verizon Sim-card?

My smart phone is acting dumb. For no reason that I can discover, it will display the message that it is a non-verizon sim-card, and somehow will have gone into airplane mode. Is this a setting that I inadvertenly set, or is there something wrong with the sim-card? Should I take this back to the store for another simcard? Thanks!

corikenn,
Good afternoon!
I'd love to get that SIM card working for you, clearly an important part of a 4G device. Have you tried removing and reinserting the SIM card into the phone? When you get the error message, does it disrupt service? Our corporate stores are able to replace the SIM card at no cost for you, as well as our customer service team. We can be reached at www.verizonwireless.com/contactus.
Have a great day!

  • Can I use Verizon Sim Card in a Att Ipad Mini

I would like to know if I can use a verizon sim card in a AT&T Ipad mini.  If yes, how?
    Thanks in advance

Um, no you can't.  Verizon and AT&T don't use the same technology.

  • Using Verizon SIM Card abroad with non-Verizon GSM phone

I have a Verizon phone, which is not a global phone (iPhone 4, doesn't have a SIM card). I am going on a trip to Europe and want to use Verizon service there, so people can call me on my US Verizon number, but I don't want to upgrade my phone to a global Verizon phone. Would it be possible to order or buy a SIM card from Verizon, activate it such that it becomes associated with my Verizon account and then, when I'm in Europe, stick it to one of non-Verizon unlocked GSM phones? Will I be able to roam this way with my Verizon number? Will my regular Verizon phone still work when I come back?
    Thank you!

Unfortunately, the sat phone is not an option for me. I believe it's very expensive. Also not sure if I can get roaming data this way, specifically $25 per 100MB package.
I want to use iPhone 4S (factory unlocked GSM version, bought from Apple store). The frequencies should not be a problem, since it supports all GSM frequencies.
My main concern - even if Verizon gives me a micro SIM and associates it with my account, will it work in non-Verizon iPhone 4S while in Europe? A representative told me Verizon possibly ties the SIM to a particular phone (normally Verizon world phone). If such a SIM is used in another phone, the registration may fail due to that restriction. The rep was not sure though, that's why posting it here.

  • Can I use Verizon Sim card in an INDIAN IPHONE 5 or not?

I have a verizon iPhone 5s from US and want to use my Verizon sim in some other iphone 5? can I?

To expand on Meg's answer -
Verizon does not allow you to use a phone on their network unless it was originally sold by them. You can't bring a phone from another carrier and just pick up a SIM card and start using the phone on Verizon.
I believe the same holds true for Sprint, and possibly other carriers as well.
AT&T and T-Mobile allow you to use any unlocked phone, though, so those are both options if you are traveling to the US.

  • Add Verizon SIM card to Lenovo Thinkpad 8 tablet?

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad 8 tablet that is 4G LTE capable and which has an empty microSIM card slot. Would Verizon offer just the SIM card (and a plan, of course) so that I could take advantage of my tablet's 4G LTE capabilities? I don't know if I actually will or not, but I'm exploring the possibilities.  Thanks for any input.

Congrats on your newly purchased Thinkpad 8, Downeaster59! New electronics are always exciting. I recommend stopping by your local direct VZW store http://bit.ly/3SdsA for more details with regards to working with you on an activation/ adding to your existing plan if available.

  • Hotspot With A Non Verizon Sim?

I am currently traveling outside of the US. I have purchased a pre-paid SIM from the local provider. When I try and hotspot my Galaxy S4 checks my subscription status. Not surprisingly it can't get a response from Verizon.
Effectively this means I can't use this functionality. Is there any workaround to make hotpot and I haven't tried but I assume tethering too work?

Hello slerner. Hope your trip is going well so far! With regards to using the hotspot feature off of your phone, it does work off of your Verizon Wireless service account and features. If you are using a non-Verizon Wireless SIM, it is not utilizing or working off of your account, so that feature will not be available. Sorry about that.

  • SIM not Valid after factory reset using a non-US SIM card

I bought an unlocked iPhone 5 at a US apple store.  It worked fine for two years until factory-resetting it.  Now, during the setup process I get a "SIM not valid" message. I tried an iTunes restore to no avail.  I called Apple support and was escalated to two different "experts".  I got two very different answers:
Expert 1: an unlocked iPhone can be used internationally but can only go through a factory reset with a US SIM card.  Since you don't have one you will have to come back to the US, get an American SIM card, finish the setup process and then you can get back to using it internationally.  There is nothing we can do here at Apple to bypass this procedure.
Expert 2: Our database shows that your phone is indeed unlocked and is available for use with an Israeli carrier (which is the carrier I am using now).  Either the SIM card is defective or there is a problem with the hardware of the phone.  Please ask for a replacement SIM card from your carrier and if this does not solve the problem you can send it to the US for repair. The repair will be costly.
Obviously neither of them is solving my problem.  Is there another solution?  Is it time to make the switch to an Android device?

Sorry if you have already tried this
Any chance you can ask for a different / new SIM from your carrier?
or even better see if one of your friends / family has a working phone with a nano SIM
Try that temporarily in your phone
If it works = corrupt SIM most likely
If it does not - please let us know and we can brainstorm further

  • Non verizon SIM

I am kebede from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I am not a verizon customer. A friend sent me a used SCH I605 verizon from USA I trried to configure the APN and message settings but didn't work. only the voice is functioning. Everytime I started my phone it keeps saying ' Non Verizo n SIM' is there anybody who is willing to help me on the setting?

The 700 MHz frequency band should be unlocked since it is required per the FCC. However based on the the specifications (see Specs - Verizon Tabs SCH-I915 | Samsung Galaxy Tab) of the tablet, I don't think the tablet was global ready and was not fully SIM unlocked from the factory. If you are lucky, the LTE band 4 could be unlocked. At best, you can use the tablet as a wifi only device, but I doubt it will function reasonably on a foreign country's cellular carrier.

  • HT4993 i have bought iphone 5 with no cotract, and activate it with Sprint sim card,I am outside US now , and the phone can't be activate with non sprint sim card. i dont have sprint acount because i bought it from private store, what can i do ?

    Hello,
I have bought Iphone 5 with no contract (649$ + Tax) and i've activated it with nano sim of sprint (without having sprint account)
i am outside US now , and i was discover that the phone can't be used because the activation with other sim is failed.
Sprint says that can't do anything if i dont have sprint account (no sure why they cant locate it VIA SN\IMEI).
what should i do in order to unlock it ?
    Thanks

You bought a Sprint phone. Sprint phones are NOT unlocked. Sprint will only unlock the SIM slot for current Sprint customers in good standing for use while travelling internationally.
You bought the wrong phone.  Since you're not a Sprint customer, you can not get it unlocked. Sell it to someone in the US and buy a phone you can use.

  • What steps do I need to take once Verizon unlocks my sim card for international use on another carrier

Hi, I am traveling to Romania in a few days. I called Verizon Global Support and had them unlocked my sim card for the 4s.
They told me there was some steps I had to take after they unlocked it and I will find these steps on the Apple website.
Well I cant find what they are talking about and my search on the internet is not giving what I want.
I see things about Sprint 4s and that u must connect your phone to Itunes to complete the unlock process is this the same for verizon ?
The Verizon Rep told me I will be able to use a Internation Sim but I had to connect my phone to a computer after replacing the International sim and go threw a whole process of Restoring and resetting my phone threw Itunes. Is there true ?  I dont not have a internation sim with me is there any other way to see if its unlock and how the process is ? Do i need to set my phone to only run on GSM when I get there or will the International sim automatically switch the band ?
I know its alot of question all at once but i just want to get to the point.
Thanks any help will be appericated

This is the only thing I could find but it does not answer my question or even what I was told by the Global Support Rep.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
    1. Meet the following requirements:
    * Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
    * The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
    * The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
    * The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
    * Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
    2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
    3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
    4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
    5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!

  • How to use SIM card in Droid 2 Global?

So I have a Droid 2 Global because it has SIM card capabilities. I called Verizon to allow international roaming. Then I got the unlock code for my phone. Next I put a new-bought SIM card from China Mobile into my Verizon Droid 2 Global.
However, when someone calls my China Mobile phone number, my phone does not react. The caller hears a prerecorded message that the China Mobile phone number is incorrect or not connected.
When I call with my Droid 2 Global with the China Mobile SIM card inside, the receiving person sees my Verizon phone number.
My question is: How do I get my Droid 2 Global to recognize and use my China Mobile SIM card?
I don't want it to use my Verizon phone number while I am overseas. I like my Verizon service in the U.S., and I plan to return to it.  I just thought the idea of a global phone with a SIM card was to be able to travel to other countries and use another SIM card if need be, and the sales representatives at my local Verizon store sold me this idea of international usage. Other users seem to have no problem. Please inform me of how it works
    Thank you!

Hi mortb, thanks for your input.
However, that is not true about SIM cards. You can find accurate information about SIM cards through your search engine or even Wikipedia. SIM cards are meant to be swapped out. SIM cards are used in Europe and Asia more than the U.S. "The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device" (Wikipedia- SIM cards).
A SIM card holds the prepaid account value, telephone number, the user's address book, call logs, texts, etc. A lot of websites give the analogy: Say your phone is dead but you need to make a call. You can use your friend's cell phone with your SIM card and call. You won't be using your friend's minutes, but your own because you are using the minutes from your SIM card.
In my case, I want to use a local cell phone provider to make local calls. Theoretically speaking, I can do so if I swap out my SIM card for a local network's SIM.
Now Verizon locks all its phones to their Verizon SIM cards, so Verizon phones can only use Verizon SIM cards, but the Droid 2 Global allows you to unlock your SIM, meaning that you are going to put in another SIM card, aka another cell phone service provider.
So I am confused why I cannot use another carrier's SIM card. Can anyone explain why? Or what can I do to sync my China Mobile SIM to my Droid 2 Global?

  • IPhone 5 SIM card

I am going to start this by saying that I know very little about technology. That being said, here is my situation:
I am studying abroad currently and got a new iPhone 5 slightly before Christmas. When I went abroad I had a foreign SIM card put in so that I could use it locally in this country (I was still paying my monthly verizon bill). So I took the Verizon SIM card home and put it in a safe place until i return to America. only problem is I was then pick pocketed and now no longer have the phone. What can I do?

        @pcarrigan
I hope your enjoying your time abroad and that you are learning a great amount. I can only hope that you are ok after being pick pocketed. Allow me the opportunity to provide some insight towards a resolution.
If you have insurance on the device, I do suggest contacting our insurance provider Asurion to receive a replacement. You may place a claim at phoneclaim.com
Enjoy the rest of your time abroad. Keep us posted on the situation.
