Non websafe fonts appear low resolution in preview mode and in browser

I have a problem when using font that are not web safe, no matter which non webfont I use it appears low res and looks awful in preview mode, ex in the browser. I understand that font that are not supported are converted to images instad of text but why does that make them low res? Does the browser use have any affect on how it appears? I am currently using safari.
This is how the text appears: (Avenir is a non web safe font and Arial and Helvetica are web safe)

Hi Johan,
While exporting the images from photoshop, try to add 1% transparency and save them as pngs to prevent Muse from compressing those images. Let me know if that makes a difference.

  • Preview Mode and conflicting property values

    In this design mode, the red boxes have a border-weight: 0, border-color: none; background opacity: 47%. Gray boxes: border-weight: 1; border-color: none; background-opacity: 27%.
In the preview mode, the gray boxes will show the border-weight that is set (by default) to one even though I specified the border-color as 'none'. The gray boxes will also cause content to shift downards.
Using all red boxes in the design mode with both boder-weight: 0 and border-color: none.
No problems whatsoever in the preview mode.
So my point is, there seems to be  an issue with declaring a value in the border-weight property and then setting the value of the border-color property to none.

    Hi
You can do that in two ways.
One is from PA services provided by SAP. Other one is you care create a Generic service to load the values.
    1. In HRASR_DT tcode  select the process and create the backend service for SAP_PA and add the field Employee group (PERSG )  by choosing IT 0001 and screen element  then select the Input Help and check the box for PA service .
    2. Create a backend service and create the BADI and inside that do the logic to load the Employee group from FM and bind the value to the field.
Please refer the Enhancement Implementation HRASR00_USER_NAME for the sample. Class CL_HRASR00_GS_USER_NAME.

  • Fonts displaying in strange characters in Email and Web Browser

Myself and my creative director (on two different computers) are seeing strange characters in our email clients and web browser. He uses Entourage for Email and I use Thunderbird. We both use Firefox for a web browser.
This does not happen with every email or with every web page, what could it be?

Clear out the font cache files from the hard drive with Font Finagler. Also, if you have the fonts Helvetica Fractions or Times Phonetic on the drive, delete them.

  • Why would a font appear different between Ppt for mac and mail? specifically the lower case "v"... spelled in a sequence

I am using the Hipster Pro font... and when I use it in ppt for MAC, Evana-- the v in Evana has a swoop that extends outside and in mail it doesn't.
I'm not sure why this discrepancy exists as my logo doesn't have it and its causing me problems.
When I try and do a cut/paster for this box it changes it too.

Jeff is right about the two options for inserting a fonts character - but Most Importantly - he is also right in his statement (in agreement with mine) that if the audience machine does not have the font installed they will not see "Hipster Script Pro"
Here's what ya do - make it a "PICTURE" and insert it inline, just like we do here. If this Simple Editor can display it, you should be Golden.

  • Export from FCP V5 appears low resolution or unrendered

I have a number of Macs that my business uses FCP 5 for video editing DV-PAL. Whenever we export into any format the graphics we greate of photo's we have imported look low res or unrendered (although we have rendered the movies out). We have tried different rendering settings and no improvement. This happens on all 4 of our G4 machines.
Has anyone else got this problem?

Yes, I have viewed it on a 68cm conventional TV, a LCD TV, a high quality LCD projector and a broadcast monitor. although the broadcast monitor isn't as bad, the text and some pictures still have the jaggy edges.

  • Comments about using non-websafe fonts

Why not post your suggestions/comments/examples here....

    Hi
Whilst we have now gone way off topic here there are some valid points being made in other areas such as -
One end of the spectrum does include the geeky nerdies that just want to
push their technology, and too bad if you're not with the latest
software or hardware. This camp also includes the business and financial
people who have their own agendas for moving technology along,
sometimes a little too fast. On the other end of the spectrum are those
who will strive to ensure the less than 5% running legacy browsers and
equipment are supported, at the expense of not providing the other 95%
of users with a better experience with newer technology.
Without the 'Geeky nerd' we would not have the web, and even 10 years ago anyone who worked in any way that was connected with the web was considered a 'Geeky nerd', so lets not knock the 'Geeky nerd' he provided us with work.
As for moving technology along, if this did not happen we would all still be working with IE6 or even NN4 as the main browsers, and the mobile web would not exist if it was not for the iPhone.
Many people do not like the idea of progressive enhancements, or the graceful degrading of code, but this is often because the client does not ask for the newer features, (do you explain the difference or offer the newer features to your clients?). If the client did and the designer could not provide/fulfil the clients wishes, (loss of contract and money) I could guarantee that it the designer would very quickly learn/adopt html5/css3.
HTML 5 should be a standard by now but thanks to MS and IE it's been
slowed down, and even Adobe for not providing updates to at least CS4 to
allow more developers to get in the game.
MS stopped any work on IE after the .com crash as they thought the web was dead, and in many ways it is, look at the designs and UI from 2001 and you will see almost no change to that being offered by most designers now, (I blame it on them not understanding the media). But with IE9/10 they are catching up and have overtaken browsers such as FF/Safari and Chrome in some very important features. The other thing to remember is that IE must also be customizable by IT administrators, something that the other browsers do not have to worry about.
As for Adobe and CS4, they do provide the html5/css3 extension, (without multi-screen) but lets be honest not many people wanted html5/css3 in CS5, (don't know if you remember that discussion) and Adobe only released the extension for that after much discussion and criticism on this and other forums/blogs. So if you want better support for anything, file those feature requests because if you do not how are the DW dev team supposed to know what you want, (don't file them and that will think you are happy) or will adopt features that others want, which are probably not the same as your wishes.

  • Import Previews Low Resolution?

As an Event Photographer I need to be able to quickly preview images from my Cards, Import only the "GOOD" images and transmit these for immediate distribution.
Problem is the PREVIEW of the images PRIOR to import are very low resolution and don't allow me to make an informed decision as to the quality of the image. Can this be adjusted?
Also, any tips on speeding up importation would be appreciated.
I've disabled FACES and PLACES and use a high speed FW800 card reader.

I can't see how you could make a select in the camera but you can't make it with the camera-generated preview? Especially when the in-camera JPEG is what's displayed on the back of the LCD when you review images (All RAW files contain JPEG previews for this purpose, and the histogram is typically displayed using the info from this embedded JPEG preview).
The fastest thing you can do for selections is to click Aperture's checkbox to use the embedded JPEG if possible. Then turn on quick preview mode and get to work editing. Note, Aperture 3 lets you edit while you're importing. It doesn't matter if the images are still on the card or have been copied to their final location. If the JPEG on the camera is good enough for quick reviewing, it should be good enough on screen... even if it is at a small resolution.

  • Having Problems with Low Resolution on Thinkpad Twist

I notice lately that images do not appear as sharp or as deeply colored as they once were.  Text looks fine but even looking at high-res images, it's like I'm looking at them with a CGA monitor - I don't see the same color depth and the image appears lower resolution than it actually is.  The same pictures look sharp on another computer/monitor.  Could this be a display setting?  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the display driver to no avail.
I also notice that when I go from screen to screen, sometimes I get a "ghost" of the previous image.  This is not monitor burn-in because the ghosted image goes away when I reboot.

We can't tell from what you've said whether this happens only in your browser. If so, which one and what version? And what happens in other browsers?

  • Captivate 8: Buttons not responding in preview mode

I've installed the trial version of Captivate 8.
At the moment none of the buttons are working in preview mode.
They do however work, when published.
I've checked my properties, and have my buttons checked to 'rest of the slide'.
Anybody come across the same problem, or have a solution for me?

Adobe released a patch for Chrome issue. Check this out.

  • Text Field location differs on design view and preview mode

I am using Adobe LiveCycle Desginer ES.  I am updating forms currently created in Livecycle 6 and 7.  I am noticing the text fields are lower on the preview mode than where I have placed them on the design mode. In design mode, they are perfectly in line with the other text.  When going to preview they are off anywhere from a couple centimeters to a couple inches.  I have started over with new forms and had this same problem.
This issue mostly occurs when I have a text box with a large amount of text and I place text fields over the text boxes.  Has anyone had this issue also?  If so, is there a solution?  This issue never happened in 6 or 7, I am only seeing this issue in the ES version.
Any help would be appreciated. (I am willing to recreate the forms, but that has the same issue also.)

In version 7 there were updates made to the text engine. There were situations where things did not align correctly. To solve this there was an option added to allow you to revert back to the old engine. To do this go into the File/Form Properties/Compatibility then click on the button for the Revert Text Formatting and try your form again.
Note that at some point in time you should update your form to use the new engine and stop using the version 6 of Reader/Acrobat.
    Hope that helps

  • Can not preview HTML pages in browser

I am unable to preview my HTML pages in a browser eg. safari. firefox etc... before uploading them to my server. I have tried going into preferences and clicking on the preview in browser section and adding a new primary and secondary browser but it will not work. I was able to preview my pages in browser mode fine up until a few days ago when it suddenly stopped working. I am using Mac OS X version 10.5.8, Prosessor 4x2.5 GHz PowerPC G5. Memory 4.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM. I have Dreamweaver CS3. My test server is set to none.

    Hi Murry,
When I try to preview HTML pages in browser it comes up with a message saying 'Would you like to define a primary browser now?' but when i try this it does not work, it will not recognise the browsers when i add them to the list.

  • I have saved documents with oages and numbers but now I can't open them they show as several files in preview mode why?

Why are my saved documents comkmg up in preview mode and I can't access them?

    Hi Gail,
A Numbers document is actually a bunch of files that (usually) appear to be a single file.
What version of OS X are you using on your MacBook?
What version of Numbers? Numbers 2 (Numbers '09) or Numbers 3? The latest version of Numbers is 3.5 on OS X Yosemite.
More information will lead to a solution .
    Keep posting.

    Ian.

  • Excel spreadsheet being opened in preview mode by some machines

I would really appreciate it if someone could help with a problem that is confusing me.
I am developing an Excel spreadsheet containing a number of macros that are actioned mainly through the use of an ADD-INS customised menu.
The spreadsheet has been deployed across about twenty systems running a mixture of mainly windows 7 64 bit machines with Office 2010 or 2013 installed.
For several weeks each spreadsheet has been updated periodically as new functionality has been added. This has not been a problem until now.
Some, but not all, when they try and open the new version of the spreadsheet get an error 'Application-defined or object-defined error' a number of machines experienced this same problem all at the same time, but not all.
I have ruled out it being an Office version number problem because in both 2010 and 2013, some work some don't.
I can reproduce the exact same problem on the machines that don't have the problem by opening the spreadsheet in preview mode.
I can find nothing that is forcing the problem machines to open the spreadsheet in preview mode and the difference between the previous version of the spreadsheet and the latest version are relatively minor, but the previous version works and the latest version
causes some machines to throw an error.
The section of code that is being highlighted is checking the sheet protection, I have isolated the code and inserted it into a test excel file and it works fine on the machines that are experiencing the problem, so it doesn't seem to be a coding problem.
I feel that I have effectively ruled out any problem with the code itself and so instead concentrated on it being a "preview" mode problem.
I found that if I opened the new version up on the problem machine and applied a self digital certificate to the VBA code and saved it locally then I could get the problem machine to open the new version without an error.
I can't see any need for doing this though, there is no digital certificate on the original spreadsheet and when I isolated the highlighted code I was able to create a spreadsheet on the same development machine and send it over to a 'problem' machine and that
spreadsheet opened and ran just fine.
I am therefore now very confused. This latest version of the spreadsheet is being opened by let's say 50% of the machines in what appears to be preview mode. The machines are all part of the same network and I have checked that they all have the latest Windows
updates applied and all have the same Excel options settings.
I have checked the security levels and all the machines seem to be set up the same.
I have doubled checked and there is no digital certificate on the original spreadsheet.
I need it to work the way it did before, i.e. each computer receives a new version and can open it without any messing around.
The new version is copied from a networked folder so I have been able to rule out any Outlook security messages to do with email attachments.
Can anyone shed any light as to what could be going on?
Why are some machines opening this particular spreadsheet up differently to every other spreadsheet?
As it suddenly happened across multiple machines at the same time I was looking at possible Windows updates causing the problem but I have applied all the window updates to two machines and one works and the other doesn't.
    I'm running out of ideas.

    Hi Jeffrey
    >> Excel spreadsheet being opened in preview mode by some machines
    >>>Is it caused by the custom code, could you reproduce this issue without the custom code?
I can't seem to isolate the code to cause the problem, when I isolate the code it works.
    >> New version of the spreadsheet get an error 'Application-defined or object-defined error' a number of machines experienced this same problem all at the same time
I>>>’m not sure whether it was caused by Microsoft Security Bulletin MS14-082.
    >>>Here is a KB for your reference: KB3025036
I have had this problem but managed to resolve that by deleting the .exd files.
    >> However it is still a problem for the first machine that experienced the problem, even though the Windows Updates are wholly up to date.
    >>>Currently, I’m not able to identify the root cause of this issue, but if this issue could only be reproduced on a specific machine, I will suspect this issue is related to a specific environment. If this is an urgent issue, I will recommend you
creating a support incident so that the engineers could work closely with you to troubleshoot this issue in a deep level, if the support engineer determines that the issue is the result of a bug the service request will be a no-charge case and you won't be
    charged.
I have now installed the same spreadsheet on 20 machines.
15 - installed without any problem,
3 - experienced the problem but then mysteriously worked a few days later without me doing anything other than trying again.
1 - worked only after I digitally certified the VBA on the local machine,
1  - I can't get it to work at all no matter what I do. (Edit the VBA locally, digitally certify the code etc)
I have another 4 machines that need to be done.
For the 1 that I can not get to work at all I have checked that all the windows Updates have been applied. It is a relatively new desktop PC running Windows 7 64 bit and Office 2013.
Does any of that suggest a possible cause? To me it almost suggest a windows update is resolving the problem but if it is it is proving difficult to pin down as to which one.

  • Adobe Muse Footer not full width in preview mode?

Hi, I originally had my footer 100% width when previewing in browser and preview mode, and now for some reason it is not 100% width. Not sure what I have done for this to occur and it doesnt make it any easier when in design mode it is 100% width. Any help much appreciated.

Just answered my own question, bounding box was not quite out to full browser width. To ensure it goes out to the full width keep dragging across until the guides turn red. I must of bumped it when I went in the masters page to do something and it was out by just a bees dick! Unreal....2 hrs of my life I wont get back haha :-)
PS...Do I get 10 points for answering my own question? ;-)
