Non-wireless or Bluetooth keyboard?

I am thinking of using an external keyboard.
Does a Bluetooth keyboard work well?  My particular concern is about iPhone's battery.  Does using a Bluetooth keyboard need a lot of iPhone's battery?
I might also consider using a non-wireless (non-Bluetooth) keyboard if non-wireless keyboards using USB work for iPhone.
However, I can't find any such a keyboard from the third party.  Is there any way to use a reglular USB keyboard with iPhone?

"  Is there any way to use a reglular USB keyboard with iPhone?"
No.
Bluetooth does not use a lot of battery.

  • Wireless or Bluetooth Keyboard

Hi. Is there a good all-in-one bluetooth (or otherwise wiress) keyboard for the Mac Mini. I'm hoping there is something out there that is a keyboard and mouse or trackpad together in one unit. I plan to be sitting about 10 feet away from my Mac Mini. Please pass along any options you know about. Thanks so much.

    Yeah,
VersaPoint makes an RF keyboard that's pretty good. I use one with a PPC mini and an HDTV. It's especially nice in how it's shaped for hand holding or lap placement. There are trigger clickers in the index finger area of both sides and a thumb driven pointing device that takes a little getting to. Programming keys cannot be done for Macs, but it seems to work great just plug-and-play on Macs, e.g., while playing iTunes and it being the active-most app, even with the TV off, the right and left arrow buttons cycle or prompt through the songs.
The RF (radio freq.) is very good, and it doesn't require direct pointing like an IR remote.
These VersaPoint keyboards have been around for a long while, and they still fetch a decent price. I got mine via eBay some years ago. I think you can find them for about 100 bucks, brand new.
Here's one for $119, with free shipping, no tax (outside FLA):
    http://tiny.cc/KWc7L
    Anyway, it's one option.
Some time ago I looked at some smaller form factor keyboard/remotes by Logitech, I believe it was, but there was something I didn't like about them, I forget why.
    Peace to you,
    C. Livingstone

  • HT1941 Bluetooth keyboard setup has locked up keyboard, it's looking for a wireless keyboard, none of the keys on the keyboard are functioning, I can get out of the screen, or shut down my Mac, ... anyone??

The bluetooth keyboard setup has locked my keyboard, none of the keys are functioning, holding down the power button does nothing, I don't know how I got into wireless keyboard setup, and I don't know how to get out. Anyone?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

  • Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works after OSX update

After installing the latest OSX update yesterday (something about iChat encryption), Apple Bluetooth Keyboard no longer works with my iMac.
When I restarted the iMac after installation was completed, the iMac would no longer recognise my Bluetooth Apple wireless keyboard. I've tried with 2 other Apple wireless keyboards as well, but to no avail. None of them work with the iMac any longer. All 3 keyboards work with my PowerMac Quad G5 though.
The iMac "sees" the keyboards, but the pairing doesn't go through because the iMac doesn't seem to recognise the keystrokes when entering the pairing code.
I had to go out and buy myself a Microsoft wired keyboard to be able to restart the iMac (couldn't enter the login password without a keyboard).
My bluetooth mighty mouse works flawlessly though.
    Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

  • Help! My Bluetooth keyboard doesn't match! What I mean is that when I type the letter "h" on the keyboard it shows up as if I typed a different letter.  None of the letters match!  What is going on?

Help!  My Bluetooth keyboard is not writing what I type!  What I mean is that when I type the letter "h" for example, it shows up as a different letter. None of the keys match! What is going on?

The missing Albums may be ones where the Artist is not listed as also being the Album Artist in the tag.  Try going to Settings>Music and turn Group By Album Artist to Off.  See if the missing albums now show in the Artist view.  If so, you can either leave the setting this way, or if you prefer it to be on, go to iTunes on your computer and put the correct name in the Album Artist field of the tag (on the Info tab of the tab) for the albums in question and sync your phone.

  • Apple wireless mouse and keyboard stop working ... now says OS X version and bluetooth incompatible

For no apparent reason my apple wireless mouse and keyboard stopped working. I was not upgrading or installing anything, the batteries are good, nothing was changed as far as I know. Now bluetooth discovers the paired devices, connects for about 30 seconds, the disconnects ... or stays connected but doesn't work.
What's happenned ... I'm rushing to finish a big job ... any ideas? I've tried re-pairing but doesn't work ... says that OSX version may be incompatible with device bluetooth ... I'm using Lion so maybe there is another lion problem?

    Hello:
Barry: What do you mean with "making devices favorites"?
    This is the method:
Go to system preferences>bluetooth.  Highlight an item in the sidebar.  If detailed information does not appear, click on the little gear and select show more info.  Then click on the gear again and select favorite.
And how could an hardware-related problem be (temporarily) solved rebooting the OS?
Intermittent problems are, IMHO, most often caused by hardware.  Restarting will occasionally "fix" problems - why, I do not know.

  • Non-wireless backlit keyboard

Looking for a non-wireless backlit keyboard. Have done lots of searching online and in forums but finding very little useful info. Anyone have one that they really like?
    Thanks.

I tried a few shortcuts that make use of the "control" key on the Mac, and the Logitech keyboard's CRTL key works just fine. Examples:
    Control+mouse click = right click
Control-Command-Up Arrow = "Open enclosed folder in a new window"
The dedicated "Windows" key performs the "command" function just fine as you'd expect.
The only thing I haven't tried is getting the Logitech's F1-F12 keys to map to the respective functions on the MacBook's built in keyboard, namely brightness adjustment, keyboard backlight adjustment (as useful as that could be in this case anyway), volume, and eject. I should note thought that for volume/mute the dedicated Logitech keys on the right side work just fine without any tinkering, and for the rest (Exposé/Spaces/Dashboard) you can just map the F key directly to trigger them.
    Hope this helps!

  • Not responsive wireless mouse and keyboard, No internet/wifi and Bluetooth connection.

    Hi,
I need help as both my wireless mouse and wireless keyboard are totally no responsive and I replaced them with fresh new batteries. My wifi/internet connection is offline too. My Bluetooth signal is the Bluetooth with jagged lines "Bluetooth offline". I tried to disconnect all my USB devices and restarted. I tried the methods listed here but to no avail.
Yesterday afternoon there was a lightning in the skies and it caused blackout throughout my whole house. So it might be due to the power surge from the Lightning but all my other devices like my iPhone and modem router are working fine. I restarted the router too. It was fine the whole evening till nighttime yesterday. This morning I woke up, I can't do anything at all.

First thing to try is resetting the PRAM per the instructions below. If that does not work then please use the instructions on how to connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard below.

  • When I try to connect my bluetooth keyboard to my ipad, the dialog box pops up and says: "Make sure 'Apple Wireless Keyboard' is turned on and in range." But the keyboard is turned on and is right in front of the ipad. Any thoughts?

When I try to cnnect my bluetooth keyboard to my ipad, the dialogue box pops up and says: "Make sure 'Apple Wireless Keyboard' is turned on and in range." The thing is, the keyboard is on and is sitting in front of the ipad. I have used it before, but not for many months. I changed the batteries today just in case. The green light on the keyboard comes on and continues blinking. What am I missing?

Keyboards Can only be paired with one device at the time so if it's paired with another device IN range it Will not pair with the ipad

  • Non-existent bluetooth keyboard reason MBA won't boot

My January 2012 Macbook Air has been rendered a brick. For a few days the cursor would be stuck in place them would become unstuck and usable but slowly worsened to brick status. On the way it gave a message at reboot saying that my BLuetooth Keyboard could not be found and to make it "discoverable".
                   Bluetooth Keyboard Setup
                  There isn't a keyboard connected
I was not using a wireless keyboard but that does not mean that someone else was not trying to hack into my computer at the hotel I was staying in.
I tried the SMC reset others have suggested in other posts but it did nothing.
I connected a USB keyboard which seemed to get a beep from the Macbook, but since it had no mouse attached I was unable to  move the cursor at login post boot.
Any suggestions? I am in Singapore where there is no Apple Store but there are probably authorized repair shops. Hopefully someone has an answer here.
    THanks!

A USB keyboard and USB mouse did allow me to get the Macbook Air to function so I could see that I have OS X 10.7.5 Lion installed. After doing the SMC reset a couple of times the trackpad worked very briefly only to get stuck again. So I think I must have a faulty keyboard.
I read somewhere about PRAM or NVRAM reset but this may not apply to Macbook Air, perhaps only to Macbook Pro?

  • Wireless/Bluetooth Keyboard - last battery stuck inside

I now have 3 of these keyboards ... the
    small wireless bluetooth keyboards that
unscrew on the end and take 3 AA batteries
...  and now two of them have the last
battery stuck in the end of the unit,
either stuck, frozen, rusted, corroded and
there seems to be absolutely no way to
convince the little bugger to exit.
I even went so far as to squirt WD-40
inside around the stuck battery, let it
soak in and try to decellerate it out the
opening by slamming it against a doubled
    over mousepad. No luck.
Since I have a 66% failure rate on these
things, I would guess that some other
people might be having this problem as
well and may even have thought up a
    solution to it.  Anyone ???

I JUST got my batter out!  Wd-40 did the trick for me.  I had to spray it a few times--the last one being quite heavy, as I figured it was my last shot before giving up and just tossing it.  Lo and behold, with just about 10 hard bangs, I noticed it started getting closer to the opening (very slight).  Before long, it was totally out.  Now, I'm using a hair dryer to dry it out.  Looks like the bottom came loose a little--will reply if the keyboard still works!  Debating whether or not to try new batteries so soon or let it sit for a few days.  The anticipation will probably kill me...

  • Can an iPad Air 2 battery be used to recharge it's wireless Bluetooth keyboard?

Can the battery of an iPad Air 2 be used to recharge it's bluetooth keyboard ?
I have a female-female USB adapter to connect the 2 male USB cords

Hello Eric3171, I'm sorry but the battery in a iPad only supports itself and can't give power to other items. If you have a blutooth keyboard then it must have some sort of charging system. If it has a UBS charger, then it can be plugged into any computer (doesn't have to be Apple). If you still have the box it came in, see if there is a manual/ guide on how to use it. Hope this helped you.
    Have a nice day

  • Why do I sometimes suddenly lose Bluetooth from my Imac? I use it for my wireless mouse and keyboard. I then can't find it in system preferences but have to shutdown my Mac and hope it comes back

This is an infuriating problem and wondered if it happens to other people too and if I am doing the right thing by turning the Mac off then on again.
