Noncomplainance of OracleJDeveloper in obtaing the ADF Mobile Extension(connection)

Reading through your recent posting on the new Mobile extension, for the oracle JDeveloper assumes that it's available.  When I searched, after checking all required boxes it never showed up.
Not getting that extension, was only the first hurdle, or should  I should say, a key determining factor.  Trying to get a connect between JDeveloper and the sample database, was  I guess
on retrospect, impossible.  Can, you update your inventory of updates, as I tried three times, and no Mobile extension was found, in that batch.
Procedure:, I did install JDeveloper first, and then went back to install Oradb11_Home1 for my workspace and unpacked the sample database. perhaps,all went well, until I I tried to establish the network
connection, resulting in message, connection null.
Thanks, if anyone has worked through the example, as written.  One last question, for this example to work, should you use the database for personal user, standard or enterprise or specialized installation?
Sorry, I'm very new to Oracle, bear with me.

Which version of JDeveloper did you install?
To work with the mobile extension you'll need to install 11.1.2.4 - see the "important note" box on this page:
Oracle JDeveloper Software
As for the database connection - we'll need a bit more info on what specific error are you getting.
For the JDeveloper tutorials any version of the Oracle DB should work.

  • Unable to install the ADF Mobile extension inJDeveloper version  11.1.2.3.0

    Hi,
    I'm trying to install the ADF Mobile extension using JDeveloper version 11.1.2.3.0. I have tried following options -:
    1.) Install extension from Official Oracle Extensions and Updates . Help->Check for Updates->select Official Oracle Extensions and Updates->Next ->ADF Mobile ->Next ->Finish->Restart Jdev
    2.) Downloaded ADF Mobile extension zip file and saved it in local drive.Then Help->Check for Updates->Install from Local drive.
    On restarting the Jdeveloper when i tried to verify the installation, i'm unable to see ADF Mobile framework in the Extensions tab. Plus i do not see ADF Mobile option when i go to create a new application.
    I have tried to install the extension atleast 8-9 times still no luck.
    Please advice what could be the reason why installation is getting failed.

  • The ADF Mobile preview pane doesn't work under Windows 8.

    The ADF Mobile preview pane doesn't work under Windows 8 64bit even I use Jdeveloper version 11.1.2.4.0,but I use windows 7 64bit or windows xp works fine.
    How to fix it, please.
    Thanks !

    Hi,
    I installed JDeveloper 11.1.2.4 on my Windows 8 machine and then the ADF Mobile extension. I can open the previewer for ADF Mobile. So there is no problem with this on Windows 8. I used the generic installation, which is that I installed the JDK and then run the Java -jar command for the JDeveloper install.

  • How to install ADF Mobile extension to JDeveloper on OSX 10.8.2

    Using the info from the following discussion thread it was pretty straightforward to install jdeveloper to OSX 10.8.2.
    Re: Jdeveloper install on os x lion (10.7.5)
    as well as the blog posts
    http://adf4beginners.blogspot.be/2012/10/installing-jdeveloper-on-mac-osx-108.html
    https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/installing_jdeveloper_on_mac_os
    Now the issue is that when I try to install the ADF Mobile extension I run into problems:
    I tried installing both directly from the update centres as well as from local file, but the
    only extension available after restart is the "ADF Mobile Help" (oracle.adf.mobile.doc).
    I can also see from the startup console a lot of warning messages of type as indicated below.

    (should have given a link here, but not able to find the most correct one right now)
    As a matter of fact it seems like several postings in blogs and discussion forums touch this area.
    Just wonder if we could smooth this process a bit.
    issuing this command sequence, did the trick:
    sudo mkdir -p /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/jre/lib
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/jre/lib
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/classes/classes.jar rt.jar
    Then for jdk location I selected

  • How to get the ADF Mobile Client extension

    Hi all,
    Please post some link in which I can download the ADF Mobile Client extension for Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4.0 directly to my local disk. I have tried going through Help --> Check for updates in Jdeveloper but my proxy does not
    allow it. so the only possible option for me is to download it to my local disk and should update it. I searched for it but was unable to find the appropriate link so I got to post here. Kindly help me out in finding it please....
    Thanks,
    Phanindra.

    Hi Timo,
    Now I am more confused whether it is available or not. In the oracle site I have seen that I can develop mobile apps using trinidad components in which <trinidad-config> file can be used to define the different platforms on
    which the application can be rendered. Is it true ?? When I created a mobile app I got only <trinidad-config> I didnt get <trinidad-skins> in which I can define the style sheet. There is a lot of confusion in how to proceed to
    develop the application. Kindly help me on this. I need to develop a mobile app which is not only accessible in Blackberry but should also be able to get rendered on the other platforms also. Which is the best way to develop a
    POC on this. Kindly help me timo.

    Is there any offline update for "ADF Mobile extension" ?
    Thanks a lot

    You can download the extension directly from http://www.oracle.com/ocom/groups/public/@otn/documents/webcontent/131167.xml#oracle.adf.mobile
    Mostly your problem has it's root in hte proxy settings.

  • No ADF Mobile Extension for JDeveloper 11.1.1.4.0?

    Hi,
    I have recently upgraded from jdev 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.4.0, and when checking for extension, can no longer find the one for ADF Mobile Client extension.
    But the tutorial at : http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/jdev/obe11jdev/ps3/adf_mobile_top/adf_mobile/jdtut_11r2_54_1.html, says that its available.
    Can someone please clarify if its available for 11.1.1.4.0 and if so, how to get it?
    If not, how do I build mobile adf projects using this version? Or do I need to roll-back 11.1.1.3 if I want to build mobile client apps? And guess that would apply to mobile browser apps too?

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks a bunch for that quick and comprehensive reply, and sorry for not replying earlier!
    The reason why I was delaying your response was since our team was having some discussions around the mobile platform with a few leading analyst firms, and we wanted to get their inputs too about what kind of future are they seeing for such apps.
    Having got their inputs now, we are happy to note that Android and iOS support is coming soon, looking forward to Windows 7 support too, and in agreement with your views about J2SE/Windows, Palm/WebOS and Symbian.
    However, we are seeing a lot of queries from our clients, especially from ASIA-PAC region where they are asking for either platform-agnostic support ("the app should work on any phone!") or specifically for J2ME / consumer-phone devices.
    Given that you have not thought about targeting those yet, can we look forward to engaging with you about the same?
    Do please let me know.
    PS: By the way, we did get the Mobile ADF Client extension last week for JDev 11.1.1.4.0, but when trying to create a deployment profile for the mobile client app for blackberry, the BB and WinMobile deployment profile options are coming disabled. Can you please help us as to how to enable those?
    We have installed the blackberry JDE and 9700 simulators both, and also provided their path in the Tools->Preferences in JDev.

  • ADF mobile url Connection

    Not able to make connection for the rest urls of the webcenter spaces(like rest urls to fetch activities list , discussion)
    Ex: Tried Connecting the url :http://localhost:8888/rest/api/resourceIndex with the basic authentication ,but got an exception message as:"Specified url is not accessible"
    Edited by: user12780347 on Nov 14, 2012 8:43 PM

    Hi, ADF Mobile uses the same URL Connection creation wizard as any other ADF application, so its behavior is not mobile specific. That said, you may want to try the following:
    - append "/" to the end and see if that helps
    - If using WLS security with basic HTTP Authentication, ensure the "Realm" field is populated correctly based on your WLS setup.
    The error message indicates that it's able to resolve "localhost" but just can't connect to this REST service. If you are getting proxy server issue, then you will probably get "host not reacheable" error.
    One thing to double check is whether you get the basic HTTP auth challenge when you use a browser to hit this link.
    Lastly, you probably don't want to use localhost in the URL data control. Only iOS simulators can resolve "localhost" when the iOS simulator and the WLS server are running in the same machine. Android can't. Recommendation is to set up your WLS so it can be accessed with the machine's actual IP address, and you would create your URL data control to against that real IP. This would ensure both emulators and devices can hit the JSON service.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle ADF mobile using elocation mapviewer can not get the tiles

    Hi,guys
    Recently,I'm using oracle adf mobile to develop a application.
    I set a amx page as a Local html page in order to display a elocation map,in this html page,
    I use the jslib:http://elocation.oracle.com/mapviewer/jslib/v2/oraclemapsv2.js
    the mapviewer:http://elocation.oracle.com/mapviewer
    It can display the elocation map in pc browser,and also in Android default browser
    But WHen deploy it to MOTOROLA touch device,the elocation map can not display,but it can get the jslib.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
    To display maps, have a look at the HR sample application that comes with the ADF Mobile extension. You will see how you can use the map viewer without using JS for it. There is a map viewer component for AMX pages. The demo is in PublicSamples.zip located in <JDeveloper11124 Home>/jdeveloper/jdev/extensions/oracle.adf.mobile/Samples . Because the sample application is a bit larger than dept/emp, have a look at the tablet AMX pages.

  • ADF mobile Data sync and sql lite usage

    Hi,
    We are working on ADF mobile POC.(Jdev version 11.1.2.3.0)
    Following Oracle mobile developer guide we generated "Webservice data control" which creates process(object) method to work with Webservice. We created the data-controls and used them in our Java code and are able to get the Webservice response also.
    However we want to implement the offline mode feature and for this we are not able to get any document reference for implementation.
    With offline mode support is it the application's responsibility to store the data locally using SQL Lite and do the data sync (using Web Service) OR will the framework would do the data sync automatically. Can someone please provide the implementation hint on how to do the Offline mode support in the mobile application using ADF.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    With offline mode support is it the application's responsibility to store the data locally using SQL Lite and do the data sync (using Web Service) OR will the framework would do the data sync automatically.
    This is all you. In this version of ADF Mobile there is no automatic data synchronization between local data and the server side. The sample that come with the ADF Mobile extension have a SQLLIte example as well, which is in the HR application. Look for the "DBConnectionFactory" file
    package application;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.adfmf.framework.api.AdfmfJavaUtilities;
    public class DBConnectionFactory {

  • ADF mobile: Reuse taskflows for different device models (resolutions) ?

    Hi,
    ADf 11.1.2.3.0 + mobile extension.
    What's best practice to create the same mobile app for different device models (= different screen resolutions = different layout)?
    I mean an app on a smartphone may use different gui components and layout than on a tablet device.
    In adfmf-feature.xml the content of a feature can be either a amx page or a task flow.
    Here I can add a constraint to determine e.g. the device.model and use different amx pages depending on the device model.
    But how to reuse the task flow (assumtion: the taskflow is independent from the device model) and just create specific amx page per device model?
    regards

    Replying to an old thread.
    With ADF Mobile 11.1.2.4.0, to display different content views for different devices,  it is recommended that we use following property as a constraint on the content of the feature.
    Property
    Operator
    Value
    hardware.screen.diagonalSize
    more
    6
    It applies this constraint on the devices which have screen size more than 6 inches. Which is applicable for the tablets.
    For more details, look at the HR sample found at the following location in your JDev after installing the ADF Mobile Extension
    jdev_install/jdeveloper/jdev/extensions/oracle.adf.mobile/Samples

  • ADF Mobile does not show up on the list of extensions in JDev

    I can't find the ADF Mobile template or add it in 12c.
    Am I missing something here?

    Hi,
    ADF Mobile only exists for JDeveloper 11.1.2.4. The 12c version of ADF Mobile will ship with JDeveloper 12.1.3 which has not been released yet

  • Using database views in ADF mobile client application

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 and WLS 10.3.4.
    I have developed a POC in ADF mobile client application both with and without synchronization. However, both work with entity objects based on tables.
    I need to use database views instead of tables. When I try to include entity object (based on views) in the view object, it shows an error saying "Only the entity objects based on tables can be selected"
    Please guide me if there is a work around for this.
    Also, please let me know if there is way to develop an ADF mobile client application skipping the use of entity objects at all and using view objects directly to specify the database query and fetch data from the database.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Ansh:
    Currently, out of box, ADF Mobile Client does not support synchronization against Database Views. This is because Mobile Server imposes some schema restrictions to ensure synchronization with multi-table views would work correctly. This schema restriction requires, for example, the view must have a primary parent table with key defined, and also all base table must be included in the data publication. These dependencies requires manual resolution and advanced planning, and is managed outside of the ADF Mobile Client/JDeveloper project.
    To continue development, you would need to create server Entity Objects directly against the base tables. You can then create the mobile ADF Business Component (EOs, VOs, etc). You can then create View Objects in your ADF Mobile Client application based on the database views, in order to retrieve the data you need exactly. In other words, instead of basing EO on the database view, create View Objects in the mobile applicaiton to mimic what you had in the View Object.
    Is there any other reason why you would need to access data via database views, instead of directly against base tables?

  • Error while creating CustomSOAPProvider in ADF Mobile

    Hi,
    I want to add the security headers to the SOAP request from the ADF mobile application to the webservice.
    But when I am trying to extend the oracle.adfinternal.model.adapter.webservice.provider.soap.SOAPProvider class in my CustomSOAPProvider class, it says "Illegal Internal package import. Please use public api".
    I have changed the audit rules as Tools - Preferences - Audit - Profiles - Audit Rules - Application Development Framework - ADF Common - ADF java audit rules - "Illegal Internal package import. Please use public api" severity and style to "Warning". But still it is not working.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 version.
    Please help...

    I couldn't understand which is the intended security policy to be added from the above link.
    <wsse:Security xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd" xmlns:wsu="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd">
    <wsse:UsernameToken wsu:Id="UsernameToken-1">
    <wsse:Username>myuser</wsse:Username>
    <wsse:Password Type="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-username-token-profile-1.0#PasswordText">mypassword</wsse:Password>
    <wsse:Nonce EncodingType="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-soap-message-security-1.0#Base64Binary">3xp9MFe3E1BDAPjr8ipA8A==</wsse:Nonce>
    <wsu:Created>2013-02-13T08:58:50.649Z</wsu:Created>
    </wsse:UsernameToken>
    </wsse:Security>
    This is my SOAP security header. Which is the security policy to be used here?...
