I keep getting the above mentioned message, after I have updated my iLife 06 to iLife 08.
And I get a red ! next to each item on the list.
What could be the problem here?

Use Disk Utility to Verify the HD & Repair Permissions, then reboot, reapply the big Combo update for your machine, reboot, repair Permissions, reboot if any are repaired.
PS, if Disk Utility can't verify the disk, you'll have to boot off another drive/partition or Install CD/DVD to actually repair it.

When attempting to update firmware, I get:
unexpected error: None of the checked updates could be installed
So, I go to the downloads section of the apple website and manually download and install it.
However, when I run for updates, the same files show up to be downloaded.
    It's annoying, please help.

If I´m not mistaken it means it´s not updated. maybe you could check these links to see if they´ll help you:

  • Admin gets the following message while trying to update software: None of the selected updates could be saved. A network error has occurred. Check your Internet connection, and then try again. Any suggestions?

I'm the Adnin. just recently I tried to update system software (Lion OS). The following message was returned. None of the selected updates could be saved. A network error has occurred. Check your Internet connection, and then try again. but I have internet access )email, Safari, etc.). Any idea of what is happenening?

The error may be at Apple's end rather than yours. It could also be due to corrupted files on your computer. Try deleting the following:
    /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    /Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    Restart your computer.

Latest update returns error " None of the selected updates could be installed. The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

Which latest update? Details get answers. Rather than using SU, DL and install from http://support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • "None of the selected updates could be installed. An unexpected error occurred."

Whenever I tried to update my softwares, It said: "None of the selected updates could be installed. An unexpected error occurred." I don't know how to update all the softwares. I cannot connect to my printers. And I think it's becasue of the software updates. Anyone can help me, please? Plus, how do I know what operating system I have?

Then your friend really needs to clean it up, and give you only software which he is licensed to give.    He should read my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/selling.html
Without doing so, he probably has left have some gremlins of his own that cause problems.   Cleaning up a Mac for resale really means cleaning it up.

  • None of the selected updates could be installed.

Installed Lion yesterday. Also installed the Java update.
The software update feature on Lion is telling me to download updates for iTunes, HP printer stuff, etc.
However after it finishes downloading i get the following message:
"None of the selected updates could be installed." "Unexpected error"
Any ideas? Its driving me nuts.
    Thanks,
    Alfonso

I had the same problems, the only thing that worked for me, was to download the update, one by one. Odd I know, but I had problems with iWork Update 6, Remote client update, but when I did it one by one, they worked. However, iTunes 10.4 refuses to download what so ever, all I get is Installation Failed, see the manufacturer. Going to an Apple Store to see what the Geniuses can do.

  • Keep getting error: None of the selected updates could be installed. An unexpected error occurred. Please help!

Hey I am kind of new to this forum situation, but I keep trying to install software updates on my macbook for the last two weeks and the aforementioned error (None of the selected updates could be installed. An unexpected error occurred.) keeps resulting. I would download them straight from online, but I don't know which ones to download. What should I do?

Bring up Software Update, and when it says it has updated software to download, click the button on the left bottom of the window, might say something like show details. That will open the box to show you exactly what would download. You can then visit the Apple download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/

  • Airport Extreme: "None of your trusted networks could be found..."

Every morning when I start up my MacBook Pro -- keeping in mind, my Airport Extreme (802.11n) is already on and has the green light -- I am greeted with the message "None of your trusted networks could be found. Would you like to join the network "NETGEAR"?" (sometimes it's a different other network, but always something of my neighbor's). I always select "NO" and within a few moments am able to readily connect to my own network.
My own network is set up as the only preferred network. I have no trouble communicating with it after the above events. The same issue happens with my wife's iMac (17" Intel 2GHz).
I thought this was par for the course -- a few others on another Mac forum mentioned the same issue -- but yesterday setting up a friend's Airport Extreme (802.11n), with a mixed network (802.11b & 802.11g Macs), they all recognized and joined the newly-created network without a hiccup.
Am I missing a setting somewhere? Like I said, in System Preferences-->Network, I have my home network set as the only preferred network and said network is always on and has the green light.

"Am I missing a setting somewhere?"
    Hi coreworksnet!
You can use the "Options..." button located below the list of preferred networks.
A drop-down box gives you the option of making a new selection for the "If no recent networks are found:" selector, which has a default setting of "Ask before joining an open network." Instead direct your Mac to "Keep looking for recent networks."
Once you make your choices, click on the blue "OK" button, and after the drop-down box retreats, click the "Apply Now" button to make that change to your configuration. Your Mac will no longer look at another network. Your AirPort icon will still display other available networks, but AirPort will not ask if you want to join, nor will it try to join any network other than those on your list of preferred networks.
This may not agree with everyone when traveling and searching for available networks, but it's easy to change and the results are totally predictable.
Ok, that'll prevent what you're being asked, but to resolve the hanging issue that will then occur when it should instead be joining your network instantly, you'll want to use the above suggestion by James.
Let us know how you make out, as there are a couple other steps to take if need be.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

I am trying to update my MacMini from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 and I am not able to.  The user account I am trying to do it from is an admin account.  I currently have 4 other updates and I am not able to install any of them and they are listed below.
    Airport utility 6.1
Digitial Camera Raw Compatability update 3.13
    iTunes 10.6.3
    Java for OS X 2012-004 1.0

  • I have a Os X Lion 10.7.4 software. i tried to update the software but it says,"None of the selected items could be installed,an unexpected error occurs."

it keeps telling me this whenever i try to click the "sofware update". it downloads, and thereafter turns into the grey screen but gives me ,"non of the selected updates could be installed."

    Two things you can try.
    - Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
    - Quit the App Store
    - In Finder - Go>Go to folder...  (or Apple-shift-G)
    - Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
    - It will take you to a folder.  Delete com.apple.appstore
    - Launch the App Store and test
    Try resetting the App Store.
