None of my passwords are working on my macbook pro

I booted up my computer for the first time this afternoon and one of the passwords I use will not be accepted for the logins I use it for.  This includes whhen I am asked to update my software, install new software, boot up in safemode, and even authenticating to log into my college email through safari or firefox.  I have never had this problem before and I am sure that my password is correct and that I do not have caps lock on.  Has anyone heard of this problem?

Ok to give you more information I just reset my online berkeley email to a new password through my dads computer and now my online email works perfectly.  This passowrd that is not working is generally my most proected one and to my knowledge I use it for that email and my computer exclusivley although a there may be a few others that use it if I used this password there it was a secure site.  This is the only username/login id on my macbook and since i dont require a password to boot up I can pretty much use any service on my computer that does not utillize that password.  I can make it through the week now and when i go home this weekend i can offload my important files to my 1tb drive and restore my entire computer if i have to.  This is a really weird problem haha, I am not sure if i picked up some malware but everything else works as well as usual on my computer bar this problem.  Given this information do you have any other selections.  (and just to reiterate this password worked for my online email on my dads/brothers macbooks not mine, it is the same password that wont work for any of my macbook Finder logins.  I successfully changed the password on the other computer which i couldnt do on this one.  the situation is stymying me.)  On another note i generally get a lot of spinning color balls so i might try and wipe my computer just to try and fix that

  • I restored a Macbook Pro from a Time Machine backup and now none of my passwords are working (and I know they are the correct passwords).  What can I do?

I restored a Macbook Pro from a Time Machine backup and now none of my passwords are working (and I know they are the correct passwords).  What can I do?

First, make sure caps lock is not on.
Another reason why the password might not be recognized is that the keyboard layout (input source) has been switched without your realizing it. You can select one of the available layouts by choosing from the flag menu in the upper right corner, if it's showing, or cycle through them by pressing the key combination command-space or command-option-space. See also this support article.
If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password. In OS X 10.10 and later, this option also works with FileVault, but only if you enabled it when you activated FileVault. It's not retroactive. Otherwise, see below.
Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities window appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar at the top of the screen—not from any of the items in the OS X Utilities window.
In the window that opens, type this:
    resetp
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected. You won't be able to do this if FileVault is active.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but the Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as the login password), there's no way to recover it.

  • Only one of my fans are working on my macbook pro retina 13 inch late 2013 model. Is something wrong?

It appears that only one of my fans are working on my macbook pro with retina display 13 inch late 2013 model. Is some thing wrong? if so how can i fix it?

To my knowledge there is only one fan on all 13" Mac notebooks, Retina or standard screen. Not enough space for a second fan and no Discrete GPU to cool.
    So nothing is wrong.

  • Neither USB ports are working on my Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro and for the past year or so both my USB ports have been extemely tempromental and have only occassionally worked. Both have now stopped working - they both give out power, for example, if I plug my iPhone into my mac when turned off it will turn on, but it won't show that it is charging.
I have reset the SMC and the PRAM but this hasn't helped resolve the issue. All software it up-to-date. My mac often 'sleeps' for no apparrent reason and takes extremely long to wake up and it often freezes. According to the Disk Utility there does not appear to be any problems with my hard drive.
Do you know of any other steps I can take to resolve the issue? I am not covered by apple care.
    Thank you in advance,
    Daniel.

You certainly would if you had Apple care, but I sense you don't.  I suspect that the odds are against you but one never knows unless one tries.
I cannot give you any realistic cost figures, but I have seen reported on this forum that logic board replacements are well into the hundreds of dollars.  I hope that the repair will not come to that.
In spite of my pessimistic response, I wish you a very good 2013.
    Ciao.

  • HT201240 Password not working on New MacBook Pro

Hello.  My log in password is not working. I just purchased a Mac book pro and the password I entered during the set up is not working.  Does anyone know how I can log onto the system if this happens? I've never even used the laptop yet.  Thanks for your input in advance.

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

    - Have you tried to reset yur iPod?
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Next would be to restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Last would be to restore you iPod to factory defaults/new iPod via iTunes since there may be corruption that is in your backup.

My iPhone has crashed during a sync and now I can't restore from backup as it is asking for password to load the backup yet neither the lock code for the phone or my iTunes Password are working... I have no other password to call upon and need the restore to retrieve info onto my phone, I am a real novice to this...... please help, !!!!

If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago.  I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago;  but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that.  With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.
    Best,
    Craig

  • HT201210 None of these solutions are working.

None of these solutions are working. I plug in my newly restored iPhone and under the category in iTunes, I have the option to click it. When I do so, I get an empty box on the screen, below a Apple logo on the left and a padlock on the right. Any ideas to solutions? I puzzled the people at my local Apple store.
Other than not connecting, my phone is fully functional. I can place calls and send messages, get online and fi my settings the way I want. I just cannot connect to any iTunes (I've tried three)!
I have the newest software on my phone and the newest upgrade of iTunes available.

What do you mean none of these options? What have you tried so far? Are you referring to the 5 R's described here: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/

  • Hello, I reset my device and I reset the password on Apple website, then I went to start over my device, but it gives me: "Incorrect Apple ID or Password", though my ID and password are working perfectly on Apple site. I need your help. Thanks.

Hello, I reset my device and I reset the password on Apple website, then I went to start over my device, but it gives me: “Incorrect Apple ID or Password”, though my ID and password are working perfectly on Apple site.

Thanks for your response. I'm a 100% sure that I have not bought stuff in the store with multiple IDs. At most I have switched the country stores as I have two credit cards from two different countries. The number of IDs showing up when I click skip are no less than 20-30 and counting. Not a single ID do I recognize in them except mine which shows up in between somewhere. Putting my password leads me to another enter your password screen for an unknown ID.
Is there anything that can be done?

You are sure the mute switch is not on?
The mute switch is at the left side above the volume buttons. If it's red/orange then mute is on.

  • Help, Something is wrong... It's look like my Ipad is blocked. None of the icons are working. What can I do?

It's look like my Ipad is blocked. None of the icons are working. What can I do?

Try a reboot:  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad wil restart.

  • My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

My iSight is not working on my Macbook Pro. What are the possible problems and solutions?

    Hello Douglas,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the built-in iSight camera on your MacBook Pro.  I recommend the following steps for this issue:
Important: Follow these instructions in order. Test the camera between steps to see if the issue is resolved.
    Built-in iSight cameras
These steps are for iSight cameras that are built into a computer, such as the iMac G5 (iSight) or later, the MacBook, or MacBook Pro.
See if the issue is application-specific.
Try another application (iSight works with applications like iChat, PhotoBooth, and iMovie HD 6) to see if the iSight camera exhibits the same behavior in all applications. If it only happens in one application, try reinstalling that application.
See if the issue is user-specific.
Test your iSight camera in another user account. If the issue only occurs in one user, the issue would be isolated to user settings.
Find out if the computer recognizes the iSight
Check System Profiler (in the Utilities folder, inside the Applications folder). Under the USB header, check to see if the iSight camera is detected.
    Reset SMC or PMU
Reset your computer's SMC or PMU, and then check System Profiler again. (SMC reset instructions for iMac G5 (iSight), Intel-based iMacs; PMU reset instructions for MacBook and MacBook Pro.)
If your built-in iSight camera is still not behaving correctly after trying all these steps, you may need to contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Is there a driver to let a ps2 keyboard plugged in with a usb connector work on my macbook pro 13inch

is there a driver to let a ps2 keyboard plugged in with a usb connector work on my macbook pro 13inch?
I know there are more threads about this subject but none was really an answer.
I got a keyboard (brand medion) with a ps2 connector. i wanted it to connect to my macbook so i bought an ps2 to usb connecter.
wile connected with my macbook the keyboard leds flash one time like they do when you put it in a ps2. but after this just doesn' t work
I think i might miss a driver or its just turned of somwhere in the system. an previous answer was said something about a safe reboot and a lot of codes but thats to hard for me.
    so any good solutions????

I've never found a PS2 to USB adapter that worked, or IIRC I've never found one at all. I have USB TO PS2 but not the other way. Just go out and buy a new keyboard. PS2 is so late 90s/early 2000s

  • What wireless routers work with the MacBook Pro?

I have been having problems with my inconsistent D-Link 624 and I realize that I will have to replace it.
I would like to know what routers are compatible with the MacBook Pro. My D-Link worked fine with my iBook but I think it does not work with the Intel binary. Any suggestions?

I had problems with a number of different Linksys routers (dropped signal, couldn't connect to some iChat AV calls, etc). I'd been using some Airport express routers for music around the house, which I switched around a made a primary wireless router and a reange exapnder. I've had ZERO problems since.
BTW, I was having almost identical problems with my PowerMac G5 (with a wireless card).
I'm curious if something in recent upgrades (10.4.7?) has changed the OS's ability to connect reliably with non-Apple routers.
But at least my Apple routers seem to be working very well.
