None of my programs will open, help!

Yesterday, I was watching YouTube videos, and the video would " stall", freezing for a sec or two, on and off, but the sound would keep going. It would then freeze safari and I had to force quit. Today, it was freezing the videos again, and I had to force quit several times, and then i couldn't get iTunes or the DVD player or safari to open. I shut it down for about 15 min, turned it back on, and it looked ok. I started Playing a game ( world of warcraft) and after an hour or so, it started to stall again. Did I somehow get a virus or something? Do I have to reinstall my OS?
I have a Mac 2.66GHz intel core 2 duo, 2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, with OS 10.6.8

Without proper technical details nobody can even guess. We don't even know what system younare on.

I'm running Windows 7 and occasionally, Firefox will become completely unresponsive and grey out, then none of my programs will open at all, including the Start menu, forcing me to use a hard restart and shut down. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not able to close and restart Firefox at all, since the computer becomes completely unresponsive, save for mouse input. Task Manager is also of no use.

Believe it or not, anything on the Desktop uses 3 times the Resources of the Mac than if stored elsewhere, I can note a slowdown from just 30 items on the Desktop on a really fast Mac, so the less the better on the Desktop.
DW will not tell you about Bad Sectors, it's just the very best at Repair Directory damage & such.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 6 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files! :-)
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterruptible Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

None of my Programs will open!

When I open CC on my computer, it shows all the apps I have. When I try to open them the message "Adobe Application Manager, required to stat your trial, is missing or damaged. Please download a new copy of Adobe Application Manager from http://www.adobe.com/go/applicationmanager. So I do just that, but then when I try to open up the programs, the same message shows up. I am running on Windows 8. Please help!

Exact same problem with my 2010 MBP 2.4ghz 4gb ram 10.6.8. iTunes said update was needed, Software Update ran with various updates including a security update, truthfully didn't pay much attention, I always install the Apple updates. After the restart it took 3-4 times longer than normal to get to the login screen, same to get to the desktop but I'm familiar with that occurring on update restarts. Unfortunately it got worse from there. Performed a full shutdown and startup. Same long boot. After the desktop finally loads every mouse button press received a 2 minute beachball. I use menu-meters and both processors are under 10%. Waited a few minutes for disk utilities to launch, repair permissions estimates 3 hours for a typical <10 minute process. Activity monitor shows nothing over 10% CPU most of the time however ReportCrash pops to the top often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW zero problems until this update.

In Premiere Elements 8, None of my projects will open. Says projects were created in Premiere Pro, when they were not. Cannot create new projects either. Basically, the program is completely bricked an unable to do anything once it gets past the welcome screen.
My projects are all saved as .prel
They were all working, when suddenly none of them would work any more. I can no longer use this program, and I really need to. Have already tried running the program as an administrator and creating a second admin account. Also tried going to the basic graphics driver.

Thanks for the helpful additional information. Because of the nature of the description of your problem (references to Premiere Pro which you do not have et al), I would encourage you to go directly to the following which I suggested previously by the following question.
5. Have you gone the route of Uninstall/ccleaner run through - regular and registry components of the cleaner), reinstall?
1. Uninstall Premiere Elements 8 via the usual Control Panel/Installed Program area route.
2. Download and install the free ccleaner and run the computer through its regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts.

Open the program to see something like
Click on "Run Cleaner" with the "Cleaner Tab" selected in the left column of the dialog. Click OK to the pop up to initiate the automatic process.
After the regular cleaner portion is done, then click on "Registry" in the left column of the dialog. It should look something like

Click on "Fix selected issues"
when pop up appears
Click Yes to "backup changes to the registry"

Click "Fix selected issues" in the pop up that now appears

I use this procedure routine for computer maintenance without issues (Windows XP 32 bit as well as Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 64 bit). It is a widesly used tool.

That 8.0.1 installation can be done with Premiere Elements 8 closed.
Adobe set up that 8.0.1 Update so that they is no 8.0.1 shown in the program after installation of it. You will probably get a message of installation completed successful. The major evidence that it has been installed will be the turn off of the previously default "Automatic Background Rendering" in preferences. You still have to turn off the "Automatic AutoAnalzyer" in Elements Organizer, a must do.

No NON-Universal binary program will run

So after loading itunes 7.0.2 for my new shuffle, my non universal binary programs will run. not sure where to put this questions. When you go to run the program it will bounce once in the dock and won't open. Universal binary programs work fine.
Steps I have taken
1. reloaded a program so see if it would work
2. repaired disk
3. repaired permissions
4. created separate user and ran program under that user
5. Reset the PRAM
6. tried something called update pre-bindings, but this wouldn't work.
does anyone have any ideas

Transferred files, none of my sites will open

I just had a new server installed on my network. I copied all the client files off my old server onto the new server. Now none of my sites will open in GoLive CS. I get the following error message:
Could not open the document, OS Error (-5000)
I've checked a half dozen sites, all of which were working fine three days ago.
The FTP Browser still works.
Any ideas? I need to work on a couple of the sites, and this is completely blocking me.

Sounds like a permissions problem. Try selecting the folder all the site files are in, do a File > Get Info, make sure you have read/write permissions, then hit the "Apply to enclosed items" button (expand the Details part).

My Itunes program will open up....but then close down after 20 secs or so.....very frustrating...

I recently did a major backup from Time Machine. When I now use my I tunes program...it will open and run for about 20 secs, but then will crash and stop. I have recently been playing with Sportify program so I am wondering if that may have an influence on this continuing crashing problem. I believe if I do a safe reboot...(holding down the shift key on startup) the I tunes program will run fine. I am running Itunes 10.53 and system 10.6.8.

Try starting iTunes with the option key held down and have it create a new library as a test. Try moving the Genius file in your user library to another folder and start from your normal library (hold down option key, guide to your usual library). See also below about Genius issues. There are various iTunes preferences files that can be isolated to test if they are creating the problem.

Every now and then when I log in to hotmail the program will open, all my e-mails are there but I can't open any of them. At the same time everything opens just fine on Chrome. Eventually the problem on Mozilla fixes itself. Suggestions?

Occasionally hotmail will open just fine but I cannot access any of my listed e-mails or files. At the same time everything works just fine in Chrome. Eventually the problem on Mozilla sorts itself out somehow and I can then open e-mail through that browser again. I don't make any changes on my system to correct the problem.

The telegraph .uk (for example) website opens but none of the articles will open

I get sent the latest Telegraph website by my windows live mail account. The website comes up (opens) ok but when I click on individual articles none of them will open - the circle goes round and round and round.
There is nothing wrong with the wbsite; I open the website with another computer (which also employs Mozilla) and the individal articles open in a flash.

I solved this problem by reinstalling firefox
