Nonstop problems with Apple e-mail

For 6 months I have experienced 100 + occurrences of Apple e-mail problems: #1 it asks for an account password or #2 one to four of our e-mail accounts at various times go off-line. Sometimes the problem is fixed quickly, other times the route to fix it is a mystery (2-3 hours of troubleshooting) and it randomly fixes itself. I have talked to our server (Comcast) 8+ times and Applecare 8+ times and tried EVERYTHING.. to no avail. Remedies included: Comcast boosted the signal and says there is no interruption of service, our router works, keychain has been re-set and works fine, airport is always on, the correct network is checked, new e-mail accts have been created, port numbers are correct according to Comcast, .... on and on. The only answer I can find is that the Apple e-mail application is unstable. HELP!

I have never used anything but Apple Mail. I have been fortunate in that it has never given me any of the kinds of problems that people report in these forums. The only "problem" that I have ever had is that since I run my own little personal mail server for family, I require users (all Mac users) that are external to the home network to tunnel their mail connection through secure shell (ssh), in order to access my mail server. With older versions of Mail (Jaguar and maybe Panther OS) I found it necessary for users to specify "127.0.0.1" rather than "localhost" for the client's smtp server name, when tunneling through secure shell, but that was the only "problem" I ever ran across and it was partly because of my own self-imposed draconian home network security practices. That has no longer been an issue since Tiger and Leopard OSs, with either choice working with those OSs. Other than that, it has been flawless for me, since OS 10.0.

  • Delivery problems with Apple Store mailing address

    Hello all,
I just sent the following letter to Apple; I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem (missing mailing address lines) ?
    Dear Apple,
I'd like to point out a potential problem in Apple Store mailing addresses.
During the past two years, I have now witnessed three (3) separate occasions, where the shipping address I give in my Apple Store order does not correctly end up in the actual mailing label.
The most recent case was today, when I (by sheer luck) received my Logic Pro 7.2 upgrade. The address I originally gave in my order was like this:
    John Doe
    My Home Street 123
    MyCompany Ltd.
    Helsinki, 00440
    Finland
The first line is my name, the second line the street address, the third line my company, and the last line city and zip code.
However, the address that was in the envelope goes like this:
    John Doe
    MyCompany Ltd.
    Helsinki, 00440
    Finland
So the problem is, that the street address never made it to the mailing label. The envelope came addressed to me and my company; no street address at all. Fortunately the local post office knew where to find us.
I've seen this happen at least two times before, and it's always either the company name or the street address that's missing. They are not only missing from the mailing label in the envelope, they are also missing from the actual Apple Delivery Note that's inside the package. So it seems, that somewhere in your mailing process (at least for Finland) one of the address lines simply gets deleted.
I haven't (yet) lost anything valuable, but I'm getting really uncertain if I have the courage to order anything more valuable from your web store.
I hope you can fix this A.S.A.P. (or at least remove the extra address line from the order form, so that users won't put any crucial information into it).
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

You may want to give Apple a call directly in Finland at (358) 0800 96162. Posts in this forum won't usually get forwarded to the correct people, as this is merely a user to user support forum.

  • Is anyone having problems with apple mail since upgrading to Yosemite?

MacBook Pro 15", mid 2012 running Yosemite 10.10.1 - ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I have a problem with Apple Mail which is that the from address persists on my screen after I close the email.  I have to quit mail and sometimes even restart to get rid of it.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas?

No, I mean it lingers when I close the email. What I've discovered since I posted earlier is that if I reopen the email and hover over the address  in the actual email the one that is persisting goes away.  Thank goodness, because it is very annoying. I am wondering if it is somehow intentional in the SW. Thank you for asking.

  • Is there a problem with Apple Mail using IMAP

Is there a problem with Apple Mail using IMAP?  Having a problem syncing to our mail server: doesn't sync properly when multiple devices use same mail acct.  Spoken w/ mail hosting provider who says Apple Mail doesn't follow IMAP protocol properly leaving Apple Mail users to experience a variety of problems when connecting to IMAP accounts.  Among them:
    - Improper syncing
    - Proliferation of drafts during composition of an email.
    - Connections on the mail host do not close automatically and proliferate over time until the host rejects further connection requests.
Hosting provider goes on to suggest turning off IDLE command.  In my experience turning this feature off did not improve the situation.  In fact, it created a few.
Question: Is the hosting provider correct in faulting Apple Mail?
Been fielding the question with a number of people.  I'm aware of three people who are experiencing similar problems, each using different mail hosts.  Tech reps at inmotionhosting.com and nexcess.com point the finger at a Apple Mail, along with an IT specialist in Los Angeles, CA, and a tech support rep at an Apple Store in Arizona who said that Apple and Google mail are aware of and coordinating to resolve the problem.
Anyone out there have any insights into this?

  • Problem with Apple Mail since OSX Mavericks

    Hello Folks,
since i've updated my mid-2012 iMac to OSX Mavericks, i have a problem with Apple Mail: When i start the Apple Mail, the program says that it could not connect to the icloud mail server, and that i should enter my icloud passwort. When i do this, everything works fine. But that annoys me, because it worked without any problem under OSX Mountain Lion.
Has anyone an idea what i can do to fix this?
    Regards,
    Alex

In the iCloud pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked Mail and check it again.

  • I have a problem with my e mail.  It appears stuck.  I cannot do anything with it.  Any suggestions

I am having a problem with my e mail.  It appears stuck.  Every other app works but my mail?  Can anyone help

Tap your home button to get to your home page.  Then double tap your home button to open the Task Bar (most recently used apps).  Hold your finger on your mail app until all the apps on the task bar jiggle.  You'll see an on the uppre left side.  Touch the to fully close your mail app (closing all recently used apps on a regular basis is actually a good idea).  Tap your home button to close the task bar.
Now, reboot your iPad.  Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at ths SAME time for at least 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will come back up.
Once it comes back up, you should be good to go.
ETA:  Looks like my friend Demo and I are in full agreement on the solution.

  • Could apple send me an iPad air. All my friends are making fun of me because I'm stuck with the old device and no phone. I've had app problems with apple before so I think that it would only be fair to get a newer device. Thank You Apple

First we aren't Apple just normal users just like you.
Second provide Apple a feedback or send them a mail.
Third they will never send you a free iPad Air.
If you want one you have to buy it. (go for refurbished if the device is too expensive) or look for special prices.
Contact iTunes support if you have a problem with an App.

  • Problems sending mail: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I can't send e mails: some problem with the outgoing mail server SMTP?

I had this same problem with both my imac and mac book pro using hotmail via mac mail with bt as my internet provider. Suddenly 4 months ago out of nowhere i could receive emails but could not send them. I scoured all the threads followed all the fixes none of them worked. However I just phoned apple support and fixed it in a matter of minutes. I am SO happy. This is what the technician advised me:
Go to your apple icon and scroll down to system preferences. Then dependant on what machine you have it is different for my imac and mac book pro click on either air port/wifi then the advanced tab in the bottom right hand corner. Then click on the DNS tab. Hit the + sign on the left hand side and type in 8.8.8.8 then hit the + sign again on the left hand side it will create a new line underneathe and type 8.8.4.4 then hit okay on the bottom right and then hit apply, again on the bottom right. Then send a test email to check but it should be fixed.
Had to share this. Its been driving me mad for months.

  • Still problems with Apple id and emails after move to iCloud

    Hi,
After move from MobileMe to iCloud, there are still problems with apple id's and emails.
I'm trying to delete a mail (email1) from one apple id, but nothing happens?
And when i'm trying to add a email (email2), that i Know isn't linked to another apple id, i get the message that it is already in use with another apple id?
It's a problem when you use these emails with facetime, imessage etc ...

My iPhone 5 and 4 both are having no trouble connecting to the Apple store, but my iPad (4th Gen) cannot either connect to Apple store, nor stream music using iTunes Radio.  Keeps asking for my Apple ID and password.  When I put it in, it says that I cannot connect.  If I put it in wrong, it tells me its wrong.  Tried changing my password on my desktop PC. The iPhones handled change and continued to connect, but iPad is unable to connect still.
    Any solutions would be appreciated.

  • If you have problems with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks

I had a problem with Apple Apps after installing Mavericks. They would bounce in the dock but never open.  The problem apps I had trouble with were CALENDAR, MAIL, and even APP STORE.   I am guessing it has to do with permissions when setting up via iCloud.  Here's what I did to make my apps work again after the update:
Restart computer, then immediately hold down OPTION so you can start from the 10.9 RECOVERY DISK.
Run DISK UTILITY, then run REPAIR DISK, then run REPAIR DISK PERMISIONS.
After this, RESTART, then hold COMMAND OPTION P R at the same time until your computer restarts three times.
After it boots up, the apps began working like they should have.

That's where your questions about Lion should be posted.

  • Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

  • Not working imessage!! I can not send imessage than after apple id. There are problems with Apple ?? Thanks!

Not working imessage!! Credit card and I can not send imessage than after apple id. There are problems with Apple seeverele?? Thanks!
Before the service reset function. Wait 24 hours to activate imessage.

go to the settings and turn off imessage
but that don't change the issue that you will never be able to facetime eachtoher
the appleID is really meant as the handle that identify you it was not meant to be shared
but can see that people may want to do not buy apps more then once

settigns>itunes and app store to make sure you are signed in.. If  you are, you will see your account name..... anyhow, click your account name, sign out and sign back in
also go to to settings>general>reset and reset network settings... if that doesnt work settings>general>reset and reset all settings!
one of those shall work. The last step would be to restore your device (apple.com/support) HT1414
