Noob iTune user seeking effective migration strategy

Greetings,
As a Mac noob, I'm just discovering some of the dumb things that I may have done in transferring my information from a PC to a Mac:
To migrate my data, I copied all of my information from the old PC to an external hard drive. After that, I copied some of the data (I started with music) to my personal log-in file.
After realizing that I wouldn't be able to share with other family users if the data was in 'my' folder, I moved the data to the shared file. I thought that might be smart.
Well, then I attempted to set up iTunes and iPhoto. It seems that when setting up my libraries, rather than the program 'pointing' to the transfered data, a copy of all of the data was created within my 'personal' file. This has quickly eaten up much of my hard drive space. Not only that, but when another user wants to access photos or music, it seems that the system will create yet another duplicate library. I would think that the Mac would make this more straightforward.
So, what I would like to accomplish is to have one location for the shared family data, that all authorized users can access and alter. It seems that the solutions I have seen so far are beyond my comfort level in implementing.
Does Mac have an easy way to share or location to store for shared home media files like music, photos and movies? Related: Where is the best location to save shared music and photo files during migration?

OK., So I was able to make an alias and get the iTunes to work. Do I have to do the same thing for iphoto?

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar

No users are being migrated to the Unified Contact Store (UCS) for Lync 2013 - Exchange 2013

I'm having difficulty getting the unified contact store to work on a migrated Lync/Exchange environment. Both servers have been upgraded to 2013 CU2, and almost everything appears to be working properly...except UCS.
By default the global CsUserServicesPolicy has UcsAllowed set to True. In that mode, none of the Lync users were being migrated to UCS, so I set the global policy to False and created a new Policy called "AllowUCS" and set UcsAllowed to True. I then
assigned that policy to myself and a couple other test accounts. Still, my contacts are not being migrated to the UCS after logging in with Lync 2013.
Other Lync/Exchange integration features are working properly. I have set up OAuth, and it tests successfully, and Lync integration with OWA is working successfully, so I know at least some communication is happening properly between the servers.
Here is what I'm getting when I run some diagnostics from the Lync server:

Please make sure the user has been provisioned with an Exchange 2013 mailbox and has signed into the mailbox at least once.
If the user logs in with a Lync 2010 or earlier client, or if the user is not connected to an Exchange 2013 server, the user services policy is ignored and the user's contacts remain in Lync Server.
Please also check the registry key on the client computer:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\<SIP URL>\UCS
If the user's contacts are stored in Exchange 2013, this key contains a value of InUCSMode with a value of 2165.

Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

With windows you would go to : File/Add To Library, and iTunes would add all your selected files to your music library BUT WOULD NOT COPY THEM TO YOUR HARD DRIVE. In other words, if the external hard drive was connected, you could listen, drag/drop, and edit the files. When I tried the same thing with my new MacBook... it actually started coping the files to my MacBook harddrive. I don't want that, it's millions and millions of mp3's that I don't want to keep on my computer, only my external hard drive. Can anyone help? I'm sure it's something easy, I'm just so new to the Mac world. Being an iPhone owner for many many years I'm picking up things fast, but this is getting the best of me! Help !

The apps are tied to the account from which they were purchased. If the apps were purchased from the previous owners account, then they would have to be updated from that account. you should not have these apps anyway. You need to buy your own.
Read the manual. it will tell you how to sign into your account to buy apps.

Yes, I do have multiple devices and it appeared to me that every time I tried to sync or log onto iTunes, the password was incorrect. Consequently, I was and am constantly changing it. Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would simply say that you only need one Apple ID and one password regardless of the number of Apple devices you intend to sync via iTunes.
Barring the above, how about a way to merge all of the Apple IDs and passwords into one.

Maybe I should just always export from Pages into Word (and likewise for the other types) before I upload to Dropbox? I hope not!!

If you don't want to export files and consider the Microsoft formats to be your basic working format, then you need to consider either using MsOffice for Mac or LibreOffice instead of the iWork suite.
You could always run a virtualised OSX on the Toshiba, but I don't think Apple will appreciate me telling you how to do that.

File associations are lost when user account is migrated from one domain to another domain (SID changes)

Currently we are in the middle of a migration project. We are migrating users from child domains to the root domain of one organization.
The user accounts are migrated with powershell using Move-ADObject cmdlet. This works as expected. The SIDHistory attribute is updated correctly.
Recently we received complaints from some *migrated* users - they lost their default/custom file associations. This happens only on Windows 8/Windows 8.1.
What happens:
the user is migrated and logs on
her profile loads and everything's preserved (as expected)
the user clicks on a .jpeg file (previously associated with program XYZ)
OS asks the user to choose a program to open the file with
the user chooses a default program XYZ and the file opens
when the user clicks on a .jpeg file again - OS asks to choose a program again
i.e. the settings are not preserved.
Our investigation shows that it is connected with the UserChoice registry key and the HASH value under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.SomeExt
According to this blog
the HASH is calculated based on user's SID. But after the migration the user has new SID and the HASH becomes invalid and we hit this:
"However In Win 8, the registry changes are verified by a hash (unique per user and app) that detects tampering by apps. In the absence of a valid hash, we ignore the default in the registry."
Currently deleting the UserChoice key for all associations solves the problem. But the user has to make all her customizations again which is undesirable.
Is there any supported way to fix this? Why the OS doesn't update the HASH after the first logon when the SID has changed as it updates the SID for the ProfileList key?
This could become big issue in large migrations.

User Defined Stock Removal Strategy

Hi,
We want to define a user defined stock removal strategy while creating TO for delivery using transaction LT03. This can be done in user exit MWMTO004. Although we modify the output table T_QMAT in this exit as per requirement , the TO is not split as per the table.
SAP proposes all the batch bins in table T_QMAT , but if all the delivery quantity is found in first bin itself , the TO is created with that bin only , no Split. We wish to split the TO as per table T_QMAT.
How to split the TO as per proposal from the exit ?
Please provide some ideas.

This is regarding help on user exit for release strategy, ref: note no. 365604, however after going through all the config part given in the given note we activate the fm in cmod.... but after activating the release tab goes off from me29n.
That is after you activate in cmod and then if u create po and go to me29n the relese tab is not there.
if u deactivate and create po and then relese the release tab in me29 would appear.
All we are trying is that the po in me29n should be open to release again if we change the delivery date. However what coding and how is still a second step , first is as soon as the exit is active the tab goes off.

The logic I tried using is since the relese gets reset incase of p.o amnt and hence indirectly po amnt so i changed the value of p.o value by 0.01 incase of change in delivery date. cekok-gnetw doesnt reflect anywhere in the p.o as amnt, I guess its for defing range for relese stragey's amont in ct04 characteristics.
However anything better incase u know plz let me know, or do u think this can cause any problems later....new to exits.

Why would you give someone your account details? Presumably the problem is that you still have a credit card or other source of funding attached to the account and now other people are spending your money. Chances are that they have now changed the password making it harder for you to log in and remove your card details.
It turns out you can delete an account, although eventually you would permanently lose access to any protected purchases made with that account. What makes more sense is to deactivate the account and/or remove any credit card/other funding associated with it.
Try to sign in to the store with your account details or visit Apple ID Support and use the Recover your password link if you have been locked out of the account.
