Nook simple touch

i have nook simple touch activated and connected to pc, when i open adobe, it shows the nook and my library books, but if i click/drag book to nook, it shows the red no symbol, and will not tranfer  the book, how do i fix it, or get the book onto my nook?

Assuming that you have got the computer activated and the books downloaded to the computer:
The Nook may have got half activated.  In that case, deactivate it using ctrl-shift-E while in Library view ADE with the Nook plugged in.
Then restart ADE (maybe not needed) and try to activate the Nook again.
If it is the computer that won't activate, similar story.
Use ctrl-shift-D in ADE library view to deactivate the computer.  Restart ADE and reactivate the computer.
If you still have issues, try using the older more reliable ADE 1.7.2 instead.
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • NOOK Simple Touch says "Error Dialog: user not activated" whenever I try to open e-books?

I have had my Nook Simple Touch for about a year now, and I have been using Adobe Digital Editions without a problem. Now, all of the sudden, Barnes and Noble updated my software and I can't read any of my ADE books!! It just says "Error Dialog: User not activated" every time I click on them. I have looked at many other websites and I have tried plugging my nook in to my computer and reauthorizing it, reauthorizing my computer, deleting the digital editions file and .adobe-digital-editions file, redownloading my books, turning my nook off and on, crying, and screaming. The weird thing is, in all the instructions, it says a pop-up box will come up when I delete the files, but it never does. Is that normal? I always have to do it manually by clicking on the gear. I even made sure I "unhid" all the hidden files. I HAVE DONE EACH OF THESE AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND THEY NEVER WORK!!! HELP ME, PLEASE.
Also, a lot of the websites say to make sure your Barnes and Noble ADE I.D. is the same as the one on your ADE computer I.D.. Is the B&N ADE I.D. different from just the Barnes and Noble ID? Becasue I have been using my sisters email for my computer ADE and my email for the B&N I.D.. Are they supposed to be the same? If so, how come I was able to use it without a problem before?? I tried reauthorizing ADE with my email, because I also have an ADE account with my email, but then it wouldn't let me redownload my books onto the new account. Does this mean I have to change the ADE computer I.D. and wait until my books are available again to read them? Is that the way to fix it? UGH!
    Help is much appreciated.
    P.S. I have ADE version 2.0

Just to clarify, there are two levels of Authorization -- one for the ADE software and one for the nook. You have to use your Adobe account to authorize both (and they have to be authorized with the same user name). It sounded like your original problem (Kcoline) was with the Nook authorization, and it was the same problem the rest of us were having.
To get your files back, I suggest carefully reading over the "Activation and Authorization" section of the ADE help. It appears that ADE will automatically find your files but note the "Note" in quoted text below...
    http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/help/
"After activation, any books, magazines, or other documents you previously bought with Adobe Acrobat® or Reader® software are migrated to Adobe Digital Editions. This is usually a relatively quick process. Adobe Digital Editions opens each item and reverifies its license to the user. If you don't have DRM-protected items, you don't need to be online during the migration. If you have a large number of items (for example, more than 100), then this process may take a while, but you will see a progress bar indicating the state of the migration as it proceeds.
Note: Items that you previously borrowed from a public library with Adobe Acrobat® or Reader® software are not migrated to Adobe Digital Editions. You need to return the library item and then borrow the item again with Digital Editions."
If it's not finding your files, it may be because they're located in a folder different from the one that ADE is trying to use to find them.
You may also want to check the "Transferring items between computers" section, as this describes where the files should be located, and how to reimport them into your library.
    Good luck!

  • I am trying to open a library book on my nook simple touch, but it says the device is not authorized. However, when plugged in my PC, it says it is authorized.

I used the Adobe Digital handbook to trouble shoot, but it didn't help. I ensured my connection to WiFi was working, it is. I un-authorized, then re-authorized my nook, and it still didn't work.

    Moved to Adobe Digital Editions
There is no version of Adobe Digital Editons for the nook that I am aware of. Just Mac or Windows. There may be a version of Bluefire Reader or OverDrive for the Nook as I do not have one I do not know if that is so. There are versions for the Andriod OS.

  • Looking for simple touch-to-command utility

More and more people are using laptops these days, but the number of utilities providing extra touch functionality seems still lacking. I'm looking for a simple utility that will let me bind (multi-) touch gestures to keybindings, and preferably also commands.
    For instance:
    2-finger swipe-left > Mod1-arrowleft
    3-finger swipe-up > exec dmenu_run
Does anyone know of such a utility?

    Hey litemotiv,
    Easystroke will do that. I use it with my stylus/tablet to execute apps, commands, text, (ie: passwords, signature, etc), key-bindings, etc... While easystroke <upstream version> isn't multi-touch, there does happen to be a multi-touch version - but as a disclaimer ~ i haven't actually used the MT version. However, here is a link to the blog about it (english translation);
    http://translate.google.com/translate?u … 1&ie=UTF-8
    It's also in the AUR;
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=54495
let me know how it works out! (i plan on going multitouch soonish)
    cheerz

  • Installing Adobe for Nook and Library Books

I was attempting to install Adobe Digital Edition to download books from my library to my Nook Simple Touch.  I made an error and authorized without registering with an Adobe ID.  I have now acquired an Adobe ID.  I can get the library book to my computer, but it is not available to transfer to my Nook.  How do I fix this?
    Thanks

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Digital Editions forum.
You can perform the following steps to deauthorize and reauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
    Open Adobe Digital Editions.
Press Control-Shift-D (Windows) or Shift-Command-D (Mac OS) to deauthorize Adobe Digital Editions.
Choose Help > Authorize Adobe Digital Editions.

  • When I try to copy a library download book from Digital Editions to my nook on Windows 8, I receive the message CE_COPY_NOT_ALLOWED.

I am running Windows 8 and using a Nook Simple Touch.  I connect my Nook and try to copy, but receive the error above.  I downloaded Digital Editions 4.

Please add me to that exact problem on my Nook - Tim

  • Will Digital Editions Recognize SD Card on Nook?

This seems like an obvious question but I'm having trouble finding an answer. I use ADE to download library books, first to my PC and then to my Nook. A recent download was a large guide book (170K) and after that I found out the basic Nook (Simple Touch) only has about 250K for ADE books. I decided to add a 16 GB Micro SD card to the Nook. When I connected the Nook to my PC, Windows Explorer shows the Nook and a Removable Disk (SD Card). ADE only shows the Nook as an attached device. I decided to download a number of large books. The only way I could do it was to use ADE to download it to the Nook where they would end up in the Nook's Digital Editions folder and I would have to drag and drop the EPUB onto the Removable DIsk (SD card) using Windows Explorer so I would have enough room to download the next book. Is this the only way to do this? Is there any way for ADE to recognize the SD Card? In my "borrowed" folder of library books in ADE, the books that I had to move onto the SD card say the source is "missing" (because it's not in the Digital Editions folder on the Nook). If I de-authorize the Nook and reauthorize it, will it recognoze the SD Card? Do I need to move the Digital Editions folder to the SD card? Do I have to add a Digital Editions folder on the SD Card? I can find the books to read on the Nook but this is a pretty strange way to do things.

After posting this question I found a suggestion on the Nook Forum, tried it and it worked. I figure that I might as well share it. In Windows Explorer you need to name the SD Card "NOOK SD" (right-click on "removeable disk" and use "rename") and then copy the folder ".adobe-digital-editions" (with its contents) from the Nook to the SD card. When you start up ADE, both the NOOK and NOOK SD show up as devices. The sources for the "borrowed books" are no longer missing and the books can be read from the SD card. I'm not sure why this isn't explained anywhere but I'm happy now.

  • Help with the error message that ADE is not allowed to copy a book onto my Nook. I have tried authorizing and unauthorizing many times--at wits end with this issue.

Help with the error message that ADE is not allowed to copy a book onto my Nook. I have tried authorizing and unauthorizing many times--at wits end with this issue.

I too am having the same problem. I have a new hard drive that was imaged from the old one and I'm trying to side load a book to my Nook Simple Touch.. I first installed ADE 4 then borrowed and downloaded a book from Overdrive. I tried a few times to delete and reauthorize both the computer and the Nook and each time I get an authorization error when I try to side load the book. I then found on the Nook forum that the Simple Touch and ADE 4 don't get along. So I uninstalled ADE 4 and installed ADE 3.
I then followed this recommended procedure found on the forum: I deleted the Digital Editions folder from my Nook, launched ADE 3 and authorized the computer, then connected the Nook. For a few seconds, hovering the mouse over the setting icon for the Nook displayed everything on the context menu grayed out. But then it showed the context menu and I was able to display the Nook's authorization, which was the same as the computer's. Still get the same error side loading the book. Deleting and reauthorizing doesn't help.  And the Digital Editions folder is still missing from the Nook.

  • B & N Nook

I have purchased a new B & N Nook simple touch and I need to D/L the Adobe Digital Edition but I can't find it.

You download and install Digital Editions (ADE) on a Windows or Mac computer,
and then transfer books from that to the Nook.
You can download ADE from http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/digital-editions/download.html
There are lots of buts in the latest version, so also consider ...
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • Having trouble setting up sync on 4.0b3pre from 12-2-2010

I just got a Nook Simple Touch. I rooted it with NookManager. It is running Android 2.1. I use Swapper2 to expand the RAM to 512.
The 4.0b3pre build from 12-2-2010 is the last version that will install on this device; so, that is what I am running.
When I go to set up sync, the 3 boxes are blank for the easy, set up. So I enterred my username, password and recovery key manually.
After rebooting my NST, Sync shows "Connected" in the settings. If I click the "Details" button, and push the "Sync Now" button, the status changes to "Not Connected".

Honestly, you are using an ancient version of Firefox that uses out of date sync code using an unsupported system so I'm not surprised sync won't work.

  • Can't add .ACSM files to ADE, message: "Error! Check activation"

I am using Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 with a NOOK Simple Touch, running on a 64-bit 2009 Windows 7 machine. Recently I have been unable to download my library ebooks to my Nook. The electronic library I am using (a derivative of Overdrive, I think) only allows the download of books in the .acsm format. However, recently, I am unable to open the books in ADE. Instead, the only option I have is Adobe Reader. When I select the 'Browse' option and choose ADE and hit 'OK', nothing happens and it doesn't show up as an option. When I try and manually add a file to my ADE library, I get an error message saying 'Error! Check Activation". The only thing I even got halfway working was when I downloaded ADE 1.7.2. I got the .acsm files into the library (still, I had to add them all manually through the ADE interface). However, my NOOK will not open these files, even when using ADE 1.7.2. These are the things I have tried:
-Downloading an e-book (in .acsm format) from the Digital Editions free book selections. Same issue
-downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 4.0.3 (and removing the other program)
-Downloading and redownloading Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.2 (and removing the other program)
-Deauthorizing ADE (Every time it just says "Unable to erase authorization. Please try again after some time.")
-Adding a book in ADE 1.7.2, getting ADE 4.0.3, transferring the book to the newer software, deleting 1.7.2, and syncing my nook with 4.0.3. Nook says it's not authorized
-Doing a factory reset of my NOOK
-Unblocking the .acsm files by going to Properties>General
-TRYING (and failing) to automatically associate .acsm files with Adobe Digital Editions. Like trying to open a downloaded file with ADE, I get no response when I browse and select i
(SIDE NOTE: my Adobe IDs all match. I know that is also not the issue).
I think the issue here is that something is preventing .acsm files from opening in ADE, and nothing in particular is wrong with my NOOK. My only guess (which is probably misguided) is that Windows can't process my request for ADE to be the program to open .acsm files because it's in the x86 program files folder and not the default Program files folder. I've never heard of that being a problem but I can't think of another reason.
If anyone has any ideas, please give them to me. I am actually typing all this for my grandmother, and she is going crazy without her library books.

On the deactivation issue- I just had a similar issue where I could not deactivate and had to manually deactivate by deleting the activation information from Windows registry. That might help you as well.
Follow the instructions below the disclaimer on this page: Error "E_AUTH_NOT_READY" | Digital Editions
Or if you are more computer savvy, simply close Adobe Digital Editions and then delete this registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adept

  • COMPATIBLE AC ADAPTER FOR PRS-T1

My wife has an AC adapter for her Nook Simple Touch. Uses the USB with a wall outlet AC plug. Can I use this same USB wall AC plug with my PRS-T1 USB Cable to charge my PRS-T1 eReader?
    Thanks

If it has a rating of at least 1000mA then it should work fine as a charger for the PRS-T1. With USB AC adapters you only need to concern yourself with current rating as they are all 5 volts.

  • Reading ipad in the sun

Now that the weather has turned took my ipad out on the deck to read and found that I couldn't see it well. Works pretty much like a mirror, about all I could see was my own reflection.
I hope there are solutions for this,, anyone??

I live on the beach in sunny Florida and went out on my balcony yesterday with my new iPad. I was not in direct sunlight and did not have sunglasses on. Reading was very difficult.........only worked with the screen brightness all the way up and there was still glare. It did work nicely as a mirror, though .
I have two different NOOKS for the very same reason: the NST is an e-ink reader and works perfectly in both indirect and direct sunlight. I have no problem with it sitting out on the beach. The NOOK Color is not e-ink and I find the similar problem trying to read with it outdoors. I did purchase an anti-glare screen for it and that helps. However, I really am reluctant to use one on my new iPad because the display is so awesome! I will stick with my NOOK outdoors and my iPad indoors. I have a feeling that with polarized sunglasses on, I would be able to see about as much as I can see on my phone..........nothing! However, I can wear those with the e-ink NOOK Simple Touch and read just fine.

  • Error code E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN

I have been trying for almost two hours to get an epub file on my Nook Simple Touch.  Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions but it will not open this file.  I am getting a message saying "Unable to Download.  Error getting license.  License server communication problem.  E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN.

Does this apply to one particular file, or to DRM epub files in general?
(You almost certainly won't have the equivalent with free .epub files, for example from Project Gutenberg)
Most posts with a similar problem I have found on Google have gone unanswered, so I can't be very helpful I am afraid.
It looks as if it might be a problem that the vendor/distributor has not registered the book correctly with Adobe.
    http://kb.datalogics.com/articles/FAQ/E-URLLINK-NO-DISTRIBUTION-RIGHTS-error-from-ADE-or-A CS?retURL=%2Fapex%2FknowledgeProduct%3Fc%3DError_Messages&popup=false&lang=en_US
I guess your next step should be to query it with the vendor and see if they can help.
