Normal home page (Google) supplanted by Zugo. What gives?

Previously, when I envoked Firefox 3.6, I went straight to a Google search page - that's what I wanted. I tried to d/l a MS DVD decoder and got something called PlayIt instead. The address line when I try to start Firefox turns to http://playitall.zugo.com/ and I have not been able to remove it. Any help will be appreciated.
PS The same thing happens when I try to us my Desktop shortcut for IE7 - it goes to http://playitall.zugo.com/.

I'm out of ideas and patience!

  • How do I set a "normal" home-page in Firefox for Android? (instead of the "awesome screen")

How do I set a "normal" home-page in Firefox for Android? I don't want the homepage to be the "awesome screen" (which I personally don't find to be very awesome - way too much going on in one page for a small smartphone screen).
I just want a regular home page that I can set myself. For example, in Firefox for my personal laptop, I've set my homepage Google.com. In Firefox on my work computer, I've set my homepage to our company intranet login. I really prefer and need this flexibility in setting my home page.
In Firefox for Android, if I go into Settings/Customize/Homepage , the only options I see for changing the home page is to de-select certain items on the "awesome screen". There's no option to set a URL address for a normal homepage. If I de-select/hide all the items on the awesome screen, I simply get a blank home page (no web page, just a prompt telling me to enter a URL address).
The other major browsers for Android allow me to set a "normal" home page. Firefox is my favorite browser for my laptop. I wish I could get it to work normally for Android. :( :( :(

hello betsy, at the moment such a feature is not implemented in firefox, but as a workaround you can add a bookmark to a site to the homescreen of your phone, which should have the same effect: [[Use bookmarks on Firefox for Android to keep track of your favorite websites]]

  • Safari opens a blank window in addition to normal home page Window

Recently when opening safari, some times I get two windows, one with my normal home page, the other is blank and has focus.
Also when closing one of the open safari windows these all close.
Any ideas on how to cure?
    Steve

    Steve,
Quit Safari, find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

  • For some unaparent reason opening a new tab does not open my home page google. Been ok for years

Now on Firefox 28.0. I got an update for Divx and installed. Following this new tabs were direct to search.conduit. I uninstalled this but now when I open new tabs I get a blank page and have to manually direct to my homepage. Previously a new tab opened automatically as my home page (Google). Starting Firefox gets me the correct homepage. How can I ensure that each new tab opens to my homepage?

Your settings might have switched when you installed DivX. You can set the new tab page to something different by the following:
    *Navigate to about:config
*Click ''I'll be careful, I promise!''
    *Search for '''browser.newtab.url'''
*Double click the string, erase ''about:newtab'' and enter the one you want (www.google.com)
    *Close down Firefox and re-open.

  • Home Page Google Problem.

Hi my home page is set to Google which comes up in the centre of the screen. As soon as I input the 1st letter it jumps to another screen with google at the top of the page and I have to start typing all over again. Anyone any suggestions please. Not critical but to say the least annoying. Many Thanks.
    Imac. 10.5.8

Basically to add to this it's only accepting one letter before starting to search!

  • After update, firefox doesn't load any site, not even home page. tried older version, same . what's wrong

auto update to FF5. no home page displayed(about blank), won't load any page from bookmarks. I un-installed and re-installed FF3.6. still won't load any web sites, bookmarked, homepage or others typed in. Chrome and IE still work so not connection or PC fault. I have tried changing proxy, and all other suggestions in your help pages, no effect.
HP Pavillion6300UK running Win XP sp3.5 all updates in place, drivers etc up to date.

It seems that '''every'''solution want to begin with "start Firefox in safe mode" and then check your addons/plugins one at a time. This is extremely time consuming and irritating. I'm almost at the point of looking for other browsers.

  • When I follow the directions for making a blank page my home page, nothing happens. Now what?

The tutorial directions tell me that if I want a blank page as my home page then I should open a new tab and drag&drop the icon over the "home" button on the right. Nothing happens.

The way I did it was like this.
In the location bar, type '''about:blank '''and hit Enter.
Then click the orange Firefox button and go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.
Make sure it says "'''Show My home page'''" in the drop down menu at the top and then click the button called "'''Use Current Tabs'''".

  • Clicking for a new tab brings up yahoo search instead of google as usual. What gives?

I always use fire fox and google is my home page. Today when i click to open a new tab instead of opening a google search page it opens a yahoo search bar. Google is my only search engine and I have no yahoo add-on. I have even blocked the site and it still pops up.

The "usual" action when opening a New Tab is to display a '''blank page'''. Something you installed changed that action, and it may not have the Yahoo name, so you need to figure out which addon did that change.

  • When I create a new tab it always presents a Yahoo search engine rather than my home page (Google). A new session of firefox does not do this but acts normally

When opening a new tab, the 'homepage' presented in the new tab is a Yahoo homepage. If however, I open a new session of Firefox rather than a new tab, I get my normal Google homepage.

For information about how to get rid of Yahoo see:

  • Gadgets all have disapeared from home page (google) and I when I add a new Gadget it doesnt appear, althought it they do show in IE in when I open it, including the new gadget. any clues?

Win 7 and recently upgraded to ff 4.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled but makes no diff.

If you want a specific webpage (like the Google page) to always open when you open a New Tab, you can use the following add-on to Open New Tabs with your Favorite Pages:
    -> NewTabURL 2.2.3
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/newtaburl/
    * NewTabURL will not work until you set the page that you want to open in the Options for it.
    * click Add-ons > Extensions, click Options next to NewTabURL.
Check and tell if its working.
Not related to your problem but do the following:
-> Update Firefox to the latest version 10
    * [[Installing Firefox on Windows]]
-> Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
    * '''When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)'''

  • A previously visited secure website warned me that I was using an unsupported browser but did show support for Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer. And the Firefox Home page Google extras such as maps and other are no longer shown. Can I get 3.6 back?

Access to the web site was OK until I upgraded to Firefox 8 which works OK with other sites I visit more regularly.

    Hi
I have returned to FF 3.6.24 as my laptop scroll feature works on this version but not on other versions.
I also find the look and the way it works is easier for me with v3.6.
I have v3.6 saved so i can return to it when i find the new FF want work.
Maybe its time to change, Opera?

  • Websites are not displaying all graphics. Amazon does not show any buttons/links to place orders. My Yahoo home page is not complete. What do I do besides going back to IE?

Colors, icons, links, buttons for ordering on Amazon do not appear through Firefox, but do with IE. My Yahoo homepage is also missing a lot of graphics, pictures, etc. Text is all in blue rather than black

    Stan -
Thanks again for the simple but valuable tip.
I'm just going to repeat the relevant sections from my previous post with the screenshots this time:
Below you'll see a snip of how my current folder structure appears. It's identical to yours, except there are no button files in the General Folder. Since you were kind enough to include a file name, I did a search on that specific one and it's nowhere to be found on my hard drive. Hmmm....
I've seen others remark on how... "challenging".... Adobe's instructions can be sometime. I'll admit to having the same feeling when I was trying to download and install all the content files and the 7-zip stuff. Is the answer somehow that I screwed up that?  Note the 7-zip folder right above the Adobe folder. Here's a screen shot of that expanded folder contents:
Does that look like you think it should? Have I not installed or extracted something correctly?
Finally, the only other thing I can think of to give you as much info as you might need is to include a screenshot of where the "Functional Content" stuff got saved. Adobe's instructions about this (if I recall correctly) were that it did NOT have to be installed anywhere specific, but you then had to go into Encore (& Premiere) and through preferences point to this stuff, which I believe I did. But I don't see any button type files in these anyway.
    Other thoughts or advice?
    Thanks!

  • How can I get the cursor to appear in the main search window on the Google home page by default?

The cursor in my Firefox appears in the address bar. I would like it to appear by default in the main search window on my default home page, Google.com. How?

This is all very Greek to me. Is it really this hard just to get the cursor to appear in the main search window when Google.com is one's default home page?
I don't really know much about Firefox extensions. My list includes Adblock Plus 1.3.8; Duplicate This Tab 1.2; Java Console 6.0.25; Java Quick Starter 1.0; Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 0.0.0; New Tab Homepage 0.4.3. Nothing unusual is indicated for either Java item, Console having been updated 4/27/2011.
    What to do next?
    Thank you.

  • How can I put Google Search on my default home page?

When I was using 3.6 because of the add-ons available that are not on 6 my beginning page always started with Google Search. Now that I've upgraded to 6.02 all I get is a blank page at startup! And I cannot seem to change that in the "Tools/General/Home page site!!!

    What is the startup setting?
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my home page"
Firefox 4 and later versions use a new build-in home page named <b>about:home</b> with a Google search bar on it that is used when the home page setting is blank.<br />
You can set another page as the home page like www.google.com or www.google.com/firefox as used in Firefox 3 versions.
