Normal SCART working?

Hi,
I own a 2 years old "normal" TV with 3 SCART connections. Is it true not to be able to use AppleTV cause of:
SCART only supports RGB Composite Video.
Apple TV only supports YPrPb Composite Video.
RGB is different to YPrPb Composite Video.
Is there any solution to make it possible to use the AppleTV with older generation TV devices than HDMI etc.? What about this solution: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305123-de

SCART does not define your TVs capabilities, it is only the physical connector. a device can support composite video, S-Video, or RGB. unofficially, it can also support component video - a common practice amongst some manufacturers, but not a part of the SCART specification.
if you TV has a menu setting to allow component, you can use the Apple TV, but perhaps only in 480i.
otherwise, you must get an EDTV or HDTV that supports the appropriate video formats.

  • How do normal maps work in photoshop? Can I create them?

    Hi i am new to photoshop!
    I am using photoshop to make textures for my pinball simulator. I've learned how to add color with the lasso select but I want the textures to look better so I wanted to add in more, so I was wondering if I could create a bit-map or normal maps? So I guess, the easiest way to say it is.

  • Printing on hp officejet pro 8500a plus, normal paper works, xmas paper is offset down and over 1"

    I am printing a xmas letter, and it works fine on plain white paper, but when using the xmas letterhead, the printing is lower on the sheet by about 1 " and indented another 1".  Printing from MS word 2007, using PC with windows 7.  When print is sent, sounds like paper feeding properly, no unusual sounds like it is stuck.  Xmas letterhead appears to be just a little lighter that the normal 20lb white paper I use.  Any thoughts??

    I am sorry that no one saw this to respond sooner, but I am going to see if there is anything I can do to help.
    First, we are going to try to do a specific type of reset. What I want you to do is open the printer and remove the ink cartridges as well as the print head from the machine. The print head should have a lever on the right-hand side that will lift up to release it.
    Once these are all removed from the machine, unplug the printer from both the back of the unit and the wall outlet for thirty seconds. Then plug the machine back in and wait for the error message for a missing/damaged printhead. Now replace the pinthead in the machine and close the top. When the machine indicates that the ink cartridges are likewise missing/damaged, replace those too in the machine.
    Here, if you all goes well, the machine should re-enter its diagnostics and initialization.
    Additionally, here is a little information on resets: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Printing-Questions/Printer-Resets-What-You-Should-Know/m-p/234739...

  • Can't boot SL 10.6.3 in normal mode, works in Safe Mode

    I took receipt of a new i7 MBP with high-res screen a few days ago, and have been struggling to get it to work right.
    I swapped my 256 Samsung SSD from my previous MBP (Unibody with replacable battery, 14 months old), which seems the main reason for the trouble.
    Here's an overview of what happened:
    First attempt:
    - Started new MBP with original hard drive, ran through setup process and all worked fine.
    - Swapped the original HD with the SSD from my old MBP
    - Booted new MBP with SSD, got stuck at the grey screen with Apple logo
    - Tried booting into Safe mode, no luck
    - Booted in verbose mode, the boot process got stuck when loading Extensions.mkext
    Cleaning Caches:
    - Connected MBP in Target mode to another machine
    - Removed all cache files from the drive using Snow Leopard Cache Cleaner
    - Rebooted MBP, same issue as above, couldn't get it to boot
    Formatting drive:
    - Because I was planning to recondition the SSD anyway, I made a clone of it and formatted the drive.
    - Used DiskTester to recondition the SSD drive
    Reinstalling SL:
    - Using the SL DVD shipped with the MBP, I installed a fresh OS
    - After installation, all worked fine again
    - Using Migration Wizard, I migrate the original user from the clone copy I made earlier of the SSD
    - Migration wizard finished fine
    - Rebooted SL to login to the other "migrated" user account
    Safe-boot only:
    - The machine wouldn't boot normally after migrating the user account
    - After the grey screen, it shows the expected blue OS X screen for a second, but then shows a distorted image, and I can move the mouse pointer, nothing else happens though.
    - Safe mode works fine (so does Single user)
    - When trying to track down the problem with Verbose mode, it doesn't let me see what's wrong, because it switches to the OSX UI.
    I tested the HD several times through the above steps, and it completes the verification process without any hickups.
    I have been googling this issue for a few days now (whenever I get a moment, really) and am stuck at this stage. Searching these forums also haven't lead to a solution.
    I seems obvious that some settings from my old system were migrated that are stopping the new MBP from booting.
    The fact that the screen is distorted makes me think it might have something to do with the new high-res screen this MBP has!
    Software installed on migrated user:
    - Adobe CS4
    - Parallels Desktop 5
    - iWork
    - iLife
    - a variety of other software, but the above are the most notable
    Thanks in advance for your help and insights!
    Hope someone can help me with this issue, because I don't like the idea of having to reinstall all Apps on a clean OS

    radjrown wrote:
    was only after migrating the old account that things went wrong.
    Hmm...that's the last place I'd expect an issue?
    EDIT: Wait... if you didn't migrate the first time you booted up the system in Setup Assistant than you may have created another Home folder. Check your /Users in Safe Mode.
    Thought twice about cracking open a new MBP, but spent quite a bit of cash fitting SSDs in 2 desktops and a laptop 6 months ago, so didn't feel like coughing up another 600 USD again.
    Yes, that what I thought and in concept it's a good idea but I'm actually quite hardware challenged myself, so wouldn't even dream of it
    Again, there's a lot of savvy hardware folks here, so I hope you get some concrete help.

  • Silent Install fails, normal install works. Application Server 10.1.2

    Hi All,
    I'm setting up an automated install of Application Server 10g 10.1.2.0.2 (Forms and Reports). When I install it silently using a silent install file, the install completes succuessfully but it isn't actually fully functional, and it isn't recognized by OEM Grid Control.
    When I install it normally, using the gui, it works fine and is recognized by the OEM Grid Crontrol.
    I'm running on Solaris 10 zones, and I used the recording feature for Silent installations to generate a silent file, but that didn't help either.
    Any advice? Tips? Information and your own personal experience would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Reverting back to SystemIdleMode.NORMAL not working on Kindle Fire

    I'm writing an app that disables the screen dim and keygaurd lock while the app is in use, but when a user navigates away from the app (i.e. goes to the home screen) then the screen dim and keygaurd is re-enabled.  I'm testing this on physical devices and it works on all other android devices that I have tested except for Kindle Fire.  So, when I go to the home screen and navigate away from my app the keygaurd and screen dim is still disabled so the kindle just stays on unless I manually locked it.  I know Kindle Fire is a modified version of the Android operating system, so it kind of makes sense that some things might work differently on a kindle.  I was wondering if anyone else has solved this issue or has any ideas about how to make it work?  Here is the code I'm using and I have DISABLE_KEYGUARD and WAKE_LOCK permissions selected:
    stage.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onLeave);
    stage.addEventListener(Event.ACTIVATE, onComeBack);
    private function onLeave(e:Event):void
         NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.NORMAL;
         movieHandler.movieScreen.pauseCurrentMovie();
                        private function onComeBack(e:Event):void
        NativeApplication.nativeApplication.systemIdleMode = SystemIdleMode.KEEP_AWAKE;
    I know that the onLeave function gets executed because the movie that is playing gets paused when I go to the home screen.  If I comment out that line then then the sound would just keep playing.  Thank in advance for any help.

    It is recommended that you try the following: In order to solve this problem.
    Setting Permissions:
    <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WAKE_LOCK"/>
    And
    <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.DISABLE_KEYGUARD"/>
    It is also mandatory.

    - You said you restored the iPod to defaults?  Did you have any problem doing the restore?
    - Have you tried placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring?

    Lommelom

    My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Let's hear from YOU on your S5 & 5.0 update, normal, not working, I'm in trouble?

    From reading the Verizon forum and some blogs, Verizon customer's may have a headache or with S5 and dare I say it...Android 5.0.  What is you story, big problem or just what you wanted? Keep it short or go into details but please only proven facts..no I think, could be or maybe.  So what's your true story to tell after the first wave of updating? I think this could help all of us on the forum, Verizon and Google to build a better system together.

    download & install of both parts to lock-screen was 30 min & completed when the upgrade was available the 2nd..
    music, pics & a few apps on sd have "0" issues, internet's fast & battery life's the same.
    i don't like the white background in several places & that's the only negative comment i have about the 5.0 update.
    i made a post a few min after the install shortly after the install completed & i checked several functions mentioning the same things i said in this post.
    perhaps i have no issues because i don't have a bunch of worthless apps that continually update, drawing on the battery.

  • HDMI output doenst work

    Hi,
    I have a z930 ultrabook and im dying to get the hdmi output work.
    It works fine when i connect to a TV.
    However, doesnt work at all when i connect it to a VGA screen and use the VGA to HDMI converter.
    I tried to use it on a normal laptop, works fine.
    Is it because my laptop wont take any converter or what?
    P/s: I need to use 3 screens at work so that's why i need to use the hdmi socket. The other VGA socket works just fine
    If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it

    This HDMI connection still does not work. It only shows on the TV not on both. I have spoken to Toshiba Software and they have a fix which are some special tools at a one off charge of £84. They say the problem is to do with the HDMI only sending at 30 Hz and the TV being at 60Hz. They also say the fix will provide mirroring as the resolution of the TV and Encore are not compatible. As I only paid £177 for Encore I am reluctant to pay such a high amount. They also advised that you must be connected with the mains adaptor because the battery is not powerful enough to sustain the signal. My laptop works fine and I have a new HDMI cable for Encore.
    Any further thoughts?

  • Layout adjustment sometimes not working

    I'm in a bit of a panic here. We've set up a file that we're due to deliver to a client today, the file has multiple master pages with various margins.
    Normally in this type of situation we turn on the layout adjustment so that the text frame moves with the margins when the new master is applied. Normally this works just fine, we use it all the time, but for some reason its randomly NOT working! i.e. the text frame stays the size it was.
    There doesn't seem to be any ryme or reason to it, sometimes its a left page, sometimes a right page.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ken

    Yeah, I tried. Nothing seems to work all the time as is usually does.
    I'll have to look again and see if I can find some correlation with the
    pages that do not adjust.
    Oy!
    Thanks again

  • Hauppauge 850 works, but not through MythTV!

    I have a Hauppauge 850 (model 72301, 2040:7240). I have loaded the necessary drivers, and firmware. I can get video working just fine in tvtime (no audio, but I hear that this is normal), VLC works through DVB, but the MythTV program seems to be incapable of accessing my tuner.
    MythTV sees it as a Hauppauge 850, sets everything up fine, but then does not seem to be able to access the tuner. The frontend spits out:

    "How silly of me to be using device nodes!" I thought to myself. I should be using the ALSA hardware names, and it seemed like such a simple solution!
    So I tried basically every combination of ALSA:HW:1,0 I could think of, with and without the ALSA, the HW, or both. Nothing seems to work.
    Audacity, and many other programs can record audio from HW:1,0 (as long as tvtime is running)
    VLC tries to open a file named "HW:1,0" in my home directory, in spite of suggesting it as an audio input in the drop-down menu .
    The frontend for MythTV is now repeating this ad nauseam no matter what I change (almost like it isn't actually changing anything):
    2014-02-26 13:57:21.026126 E AudioOutput Error: AOOSS: Error opening audio device ():
    eno: No such file or directory (2)
    While the backend is obsessed with this:
    2014-02-26 14:09:34.250884 E NVR(/dev/video0): Unknown audio codec
    2014-02-26 14:09:34.250906 E AudioIn: unknown or unsupported audio input device 'hw:1,0'

    2014-02-26 14:09:34.313888 E NVR(/dev/video0): Invalid audio device (hw:1,0), exiting
    I am stumped here. Thank you in advance for any wisdom you may contribute to this conundrum ^_^!

  • Satellite L350D Works for a few minutes and then completely stop

    Hi all!
    I am having a weird problem with my laptop Satellite L350D-216
    I've used it for a long time in a row and starts to show some strange vertical lines at the screen and kind of loose focus and then it went completely black
    Since then if I switch off and leave for a few hours it switches on normally and work for 5/10 minutes and goes black again.
    It happens after I was working on it for about 20 hours straight or so (might be related)
    What i did tried:
    -Switch on only with the battery
    -Switch on only with the AC
    -Take all off and hold off key for 1 min and then try again both above
    When it does switch on everything seems to be working 100% without problem but doesnt last more then 10 minutes as I said
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Horwath and Pau Pau,
    First of all thanks for trying to help.
    This morning I've open the laptop and clean it the cooler completely (was full of dust) and it is now working full speed.
    What I've noticed however is that the problem seems to be worsening. Today, even before the cleaning, when I switch on the computer after a whole night of i got the blank screen straight away. So I couldn't test it at BIOS as you guys ask me too, however yesterday, even before posting here, I've tried something similar and the black screen came after a few minutes as if i was using windows.
    You think the GPU is faulty?
    And, if the answer is yes, is it worthy/possible to replace? How much it would cost?
    Any further test I could do to make sure the problem is at the GPU?
    Thanks again
    Amantino
